The broken window theory is a criminal justice theory. It basically says that if the police make a vandalism mark then more people will come and make more in the immediate area, basically keeping the inevitable chaos in a designated area

I have heard another version of broken windows theory (in USA). This version says that if minor crimes are ignored, then people will believe no one cares, and both minor crimes and major crimes will increase. However it is still controversial whether this is really true, or if other factors provoke both minor crimes and major crimes (creating the illusion that one causes the other).
