I really need to check the warnings on these. Never had an issue in magnus but a few episodes I've had to turn off and been shakey after. Great episodes just hit like a truck. Also Gwen is really doubling down on making the worst possible decisions holy light.

Love how both Gwen and Alice try to fight against the system of evil - refusing to use monsters for the questionable balance, choosing death over giving a cursed object to a kid - and how they both are doomed to fail at this. Sad, but not unexpected. Also, I absolutely adore Heinrich and his "I'm polite but I'm not kind" moment! It was such an amazing "oh damn" moment. Still love him, even if he's definitely a monster!

totally understandable if yall don't want to state anything like this extra-canonically, but may I ask for some clarification on ink5oul's pronouns? in previous episodes they've only been referred to with they/them, and this episode mostly sticks to that but adds (I think) two uses of she/her, do they use they/she with a bias towards they?

If I'm not mistaken, Ink5oul has only been referred to using they/them pronouns. I believe Ink5oul's VA Vera Chok uses she/they. Since I find it unlikely that the pronouns will be addressed in a canon way, personally I'd stick with they/them, but TMA/TMP has always felt like a "The characters are the VAs" to me so using she/they isn't out of the realm of possibility.

i’ve been jumping up and down about this episode all day, here are my jumbled thoughts: 1) THE CASE! WAS SO GOOD!! alex’s acting👌👌 the lack of remorse👌👌👌 just all of the little details. fwiw, having grown up in a household like that, i will say this one resonated with me. i feel & really appreciate the care that was taken with it. and to top it off, i really enjoyed the extra bit of insight into how ink5oul’s work can function. 2) FINALLY HEINRICH. omg. not that i didn’t enjoy him before but i have just been on tenterhooks waiting for him to show his teeth with alice for real. that was delicious, skin-crawling dread. 12/10, maybe even 13 because it’s left us with an extra dose of dread for whatever the hell the fallout of this is going to be with celia (and jack). 3) big alice character moment!!!! interesting how she kind of brushed off dane’s death but couldn’t bear the thought of being the reason celia or jack were endangered… that attitude is gonna get you in trouble someday girlie. celia wouldn’t have done it for you 😉 4) celia losing her shit at gwen is also something i’ve been waiting for and it felt soooo good. hoping for many more nasty confrontations. the absolutely toxic vibes in the office right now are so classic magnus… feels like home😌 i’m looking forward to celia becoming more and more paranoid, now that she knows it’s not over. erratic behavior in and out of the workplace ftw 5) welcome back ink5oul!!! delightful performance once again, it’s so interesting to hear what they sound like when they’re in a better mood. 6) i am amazed and delighted about gwen doubling down AGAIN, especially when addressing an external that’s nearly killed her once already. and thus knows what she looks like. and probably roughly where she is? this can only end well🙃 7) i can’t stop thinking about how celia’s time is running out, re: her flimsy alliance with alice. i reckon she won’t be able to conceal that she hasn’t even TRIED (re: sam) once alice is in the same room as her again. i dunno if alice will be able to smell the rat or not, but i just know it’s going to be nasty when the truth comes out. however it comes out. (now i’m wondering if heinrich’s little present is going to play a role in that… but i also wonder if she will even be vulnerable to him, given she doesn’t belong here. or maybe she’s extra vulnerable? guess we’ll find out.)

Well, I could be totally wrong here, but I do believe Gwen just heard ‘the government is acting in a capacity that perpetuates and increases fear’, and is actively trying to stop this happening. She’s probably going to get murdered, but I love her for this. She definitely needs to work on her managerial attitude though 🤣

Oh for sure, those parallels have been there since the beginning, I think. Arrogant, aloof, desperate to be taken seriously, insists on acting like they're in control despite all evidence to the contrary, AND can't leave well enough alone? They're practically twins.

I think part of it is the way the characters don't even really acknowledge the cases in most episodes. Like, in TMA Jon would actively add outside context and make connections about characters and events in statements, while here Celia is literally sleeping through plot-relevant cases.

I love the cases themselves and I feel theres so much potential there but they are considerably shorter than TMA statements, which is necessary for the plot I get it, but are also glossed over. I'm just trying to accept this is a different format. I do think the fact that they are not listening to the statements is actually important.

I was waiting for the turn of Heinrich. Like y'all...even Jon, our protagonist, was quite bad even when we saw everything from most everything from his perspective. Just because the previous people Heinrich met seemingly were bad people or those who made bad choices does NOT a fear monster unmake. Alice was always a means to an end, getting a toy into the hands of a child.

I'm into it, but it feels like the meta plot of the stories themselves are not as important as the side bits. Don't get me wrong, the actual performances outside of the main stories are great and super compelling, but they feel like they are the only things that move the story forward. I miss Sam being involved in his original universe because he was the only one who *cared* about the statements.

I felt the same way, but after the previous episode, I went back and binged from the start of TMA all the way through. I'm much more invested now. There's so many things in TMP that you don't pick up on the first time because later episodes provide additional context for earlier ones.
