wow, this one's a doozy

LainyJP

Puppets freak me out.

Isabelle

This episode was absolutely amazing... the stage directions and script with the laugh tracks. The entire format was wonderful and the post statement with the questioning amped up the mystery so well. Love Martin!!!!

Kitkat

Very good episode! I do think there should be a gore/body harm warming in the content warnings tho!

Maddie

Hey Jonny I just wanna talk

The Magnus Archives Was A Comedy

I always forget how much I hate spiders until a web statement popped up. Absolutely terrifying, I loved it. I feel like a subtitle for season 5 could be "where in the world is annabelle cane?"

Arcturus

Web Leave Martin Alone challenge

Celadonleaf

Oh man the formatting on this one is incredibly done, as always, spectacular job! I love the direction and buildup of it all, it was an especially wonderful ep. Martin's approach to it all too has me excited for his future interactions with the entities, and, his outlook compared to Jon's outlook.

Em Moesen

Oh wow this is absolutely the worst statement yet!

Marianne weber

I really liked this one. Well done! Pause for laughter.

kodamaiser

HI THIS CHARACTER HAS THE SAME NAME AND PRONOUNS AND ISSUES AS ME :) I LITERALLY FEEL LIKE IM BEING THREATENED <3 THANKS

Gilligan Mungus

Apart from the addiction themes which were beautifully and horrifically conveyed, this feels like we’re going to have a knockdown 80s era WWE cage match between The Lonely and The Web for Martin with a surprise appearance by The Beholding.

Sam Miller

i love my weekly ritual of coming here, handing jonny and alex a bat, and saying, "ok go for it." anyways the sound design in this one is everything and the content is so overwhelming i can't even talk about it. they've gone and done it again.

I don't mind spiders at all, and yet I still find Web-centric episodes to be some of the most effective and creepy of them all.

martin kachow blackwood

damn i wish my non-binary ass had a live audience to laugh every time my parents roast me

martin kachow blackwood
>>38812129

anyway...... (chants) web martin web martin WEB MARTIN WEB MARTIN SPIDER LOVING JEALOUS BITCHY "SWEET BUT REALLY WANTS HIS WAY" WEAVING/SPINNING-ANALOGIES-IN-POETRY "RING-RING IT'S ANNABELLE CANE AND IT'S FOR YOU" "CAN COMPEL HIS BOYFRIEND OUT OF STATEMENT MODE" MARTIN. OH MY GOD. and uhhhhh wow. with jon having such a big, horrified history with the web? Ooh La La, What A Show That Would Be!

Rebecca Dupont

I like the idea of addiction being connected to the spider; makes so much sense when you show it like this!

Kendra

Something about my new headphones cord bugged out on this episode - I went through the first 15 minutes of it with no verbal audio whatsoever, just the echo-y click-clacking of the puppetry and occasional audience laughter, on repeat for 15 minutes. The first 8 minutes I was like... wow Rusty Quill really made a Choice on this one. (I did initially think it was weird that Johnny didn't into the episode as normal, tho)

cecilfae

its wednesday. i open patreon. i undergo the full spectrum of human emotion in roughly 20 minutes. i close patreon

sasmus

this was reaaally interesting and very much close to my heart, addiction. (SLAP COUNT 3 do i have to get worried)

Megan Aguilar-Ames

So glad I woke up from my stage manager nightmare and came straight to this. I am STRESSED >:-(

Denise Schi

I really love this season! English is not my first language and I had to restart a lot of episodes at least one time, because the intensity and atmosphere got me so much I forgot to listen to the words! Really really well done!

quinnntastic

oof. seconded that this could really benefit from a body horror/gore tag ~

Espen

a tag for parental abuse/shitty parents would be good as well because it’s pretty jarring

Mikel E.B.

g-d this is so good. i love when statement givers refer to the archivist so he's like. refering to himself in his physical voice but with someone else's perspective. very cool!

micah

i gotta say i'm excited about the theories this episode is gonna bring about

Dorian

Love the title. A rare triple pun. (Also the episode was amazing. Web episodes always make me feel afraid in a very specific way.)

Mary Zorn
>>38830488

I can see 2: 1. Literal strung up/out re: Hook 2. Strung out re: addiction Could you spare a 3rd pun?

Dorian
>>38830488

I was including webs/spiders threads as the third one. I know it kinda crosses over with the hooks, but when the episode title was first given I guessed it was a web episode becuase of the way spider webs will sting things up. So I was counting them as: webs, hooks, and addiction. (Hope that makes sense.)

Camryn Rennie

I feel like I owe a formal apology to the web!martin theorists now

luvkirby4ever

I recently got into TMA so this is my first episode listening to it as it comes out. Thank you so much for such an amazing show! Time to mull over old episodes so that I can join in on the theorizing :D

Heather MacKenzie

My arachnophobia had me shuddering and itching throughout this entire episode , that final segment of Francis' act might be my worst nightmare. And, dammit, here I thought I was safe in my theory that Martin was for the Lonely when in fact he might be controlled by the Web. Can you serve two masters? I'm truly nervous for Martin. And the Archivist. And am not looking forward to the confrontation with Annabelle.

LainyJP

I relistened last night (maybe twice) and am just blown away by the consistently amazing writing on this podcast. This episode was probably the scariest one I've heard. I'm not afraid of spiders, but that was revolting. Also the hooks, the struggle of the addict, and the amusement of the audience all make up a true horror story. I'm wondering what happened to Martin while he was wandering. He seemed so distressed, I didn't like that.

ledgem

ignoring problems never worked out before, did it Martin? /wrings hands anxiously

Alex

If the Spider is shaping up to be the final boss of TMA that makes sense; free will and whether you do or don't have it is worth being afraid of haha beautiful writing this episode as always

Arden

late to the party but! the soundscaping on this one is so well done! they've all been very very well done but the atmosphere is so immersive in this one, my favourite this season in terms of just being fun and creepy to listen to soundscaping wise.

marie CD

Another excellent episode that is both horrifying and accurate 👏 . The writing is superb, and captures better than anything else I've read or heard the damage that abuse (self and external) will create in the mind of the abused individual.
