Endings and beginnings (Patreon)

Hi folks, Wishing you the very best for the coming week from everyone at Rusty Towers! We can’t believe that it is already November and how close the end of the year is. Speaking of which, please be aware that British Summer Time has now ended in the UK and we are now on Greenwich Mean Time once again. Consequently, if the area you live in is still on Daylight Savings Time, the usual show release timings will be out of sync with those time zones for a short while. Please check your timings against GMT to avoid any confusion.

The Rusty Quill Gaming main campaign will return to your podcast players this week. This is the End Game – we are now in the final few episodes, with the finale airing on 1st December. As well as an epilogue and post-season content, we have some really exciting things in the works to celebrate the end of our very first show, so watch this space.

Something we can finally tell you about is our (belated) Hallowe’en surprise for you all. Earlier in the year, we released some tarot-inspired merch designs by the talented Grace Holsten. We’re delighted to have partnered with them again to complete the set. Yes, that’s right, we have twelve brand-new tarot inspired designs, meaning we now have a complete set of the Fears from The Magnus Archives. We’ll be launching these to the public on our Teepublic and Redbubble stores shortly, but we have a small sneak peek for you here. We’ve also been working hard to collect together a set of merch for the Rusty Quill Network shows as we have seen widely requested, as well as create some additional merchandise items for our Rusty Quill Original shows, including some new commissions for Stellar Firma and Rusty Quill Gaming. As always, watch this space: we’ll keep you updated!

[Image description: Detail from a larger image by artist, Grace Holsten. The artwork is in shades of green on a black background. A spider hangs down in the centre from a thin thread, surrounded by tape, spewing in tangles from a cassette labelled in handwritten cursive, “Statement #0171802-A”. The cassette appears to be emerging from a cobwebbed box atop a cracked table. Also on the table are more statement files, a rotten apple, a book and a tape recorder.]

Speaking of Hallowe’en, we hope you enjoyed the scary seasonal specials featuring some of the Rusty Quill team last week! If you haven’t had a chance yet, you can listen to EA Podcasts one-hour audio drama special, The Witching Hour, starring Alasdair Stuart and Imogen Harris at this link here. You can also catch the bossman Alexander J Newall and best Rusty Quiller, Helen Gould, in The Skeleton Crew over on The Town Whispers and the Rusty Quill Gaming podcast feeds. You can listen to the first part at this link, and the second part at this link. If you haven’t caught it already we just finished a three-part Hallowe’en Special on the Rusty Quill Gaming feed entitled “The Quiet Year”: you can find the ad-free, Patreon version at this link here. If you want any more Halloween frights we’d suggest you check out Nine to Midnight featuring The Storage Papers and The Town Whispers or check out the latest uploads on The Storage Papers for a couple of other Halloween Specials.

This week, we’ll be sharing the final Rusty Fears 5 winner: Derailing, written by Josefin Berntsson and read by the one and only, Jonathan Sims. As we mentioned last week, this haunting tale will be the final episode on The Magnus Archives feed for a little while. Thank you to everyone who has tuned into each week for our post-season content.

Meanwhile, this week on Enthusigasm, we have two very different episodes for you. First, on Thursday Helen, Mike Le Beau and Elizabeth Moffat will be discussing cinematography. Be ready for in-depth, expert discussions, plus analysis of cinematography for everything from Squid Game to Scott Pilgrim and Into the Spiderverse. Next up, Alexander J Newall, Hannah Preisinger and Tai Lawson will join Helen to talk about UFOs and Aliens. Do you want to believe? Maybe this episode will help you make up your mind!

Don’t forget to keep an eye out later today for the second instalment of Pets of Rusty Towers, our comic series by Tessa Vroom! This month, we meet Oscapus, Bumpy and Calvin.

Finally, here is our sixth weekly transcript update. As always, this is available on our website.

Update 01/11/2021:Enthusigasm continues to launch with transcripts. We are working to allocate all remaining reformatting work as to complete the reformatting of The Magnus Archives and Stellar Firma transcripts for a January release.
