The more I shoot in apartments, the less I feel inspired by traditional photo studios.
Sure, studios are convenient, predictable, and technically “correct.” But let’s be honest — everything often feels a bit… fake. The furniture is just a prop. The light might be perfect, but it lacks soul. Even in top-tier studios, it feels more like you’re on a set than in a real space.
The vibe? Plastic.
Now imagine shooting in a beautiful apartment or hotel room.
There’s real coziness, natural light, a lived-in atmosphere. Even the creak of the floorboards becomes part of the story. Every room has character. A balcony with a view, a hallway full of shadows — all of it sparks ideas and gives the shoot depth.
And the model changes too. She stops posing and starts living the moment. She relaxes. She plays.
Of course, there’s a catch.
If you tell a model you’ve never worked with, “The shoot will be at an apartment, just you and me,” you might get the look. 😅
Let’s be real — it can sound a bit shady. That’s why this format only works when there’s trust. But when there is, magic happens — no awkward explanations, no stress, no weird energy.
Every apartment becomes a story.
I once shot in one for nearly 24 hours. We started in the kitchen, moved to the bathroom, balcony, bedroom, windowsill — even the storage room gave us something cool (don’t ask 😏).
Each corner felt like a new scene. Each hour brought a different mood. And by the end, neither of us wanted to leave.
Because shoots like these aren’t just about photos.
They’re about connection. They’re about energy.
They’re a little slice of life — captured in a frame.
