For start I made these two models using the following models from "Sketchfab".

Link Below.

I deleted tentacles from iron spider suit and tweaked its materials.

for the other one, I grabbed the head from one and the suit from the other. tweaked their materials too.

then upload both those models to mixamo and rigged them.

Note : In this kind of suit up animation it is necessary to have both the models with same anatomy. if you remember the one I did with iron man suit up in hexagonal shield demos, there I faced lot of issues because tony stark model and iron man model had two different anatomy. it was basically impossible to make a good suit up without doing few hacks and cuts BTS.
If you using self made model you probably will not face this issue.

You can use the gradients we extracted from geo nodes as a mask to create different effects. and also if you can make two different suits(inner & outer), that will looks great specially if you rendering in slow motion.

Unfortunately I have overwritten the blend file where I used 6 empties to create more controlled suit up. I will make a new one and update this post with the attachment.

To be honest it really didn't do much, you basically will able to get the same effect with one empty.

Note : If you are animating the character make sure geometry node modifiere is siting after the armature modifiere. and when you doing something else, make sure to disable the geo node(not hide, the one with the monitor icon)

check out the few variations I attached If you really interested in the process.

Thank You!

Rich - Brick Thinking

If I want to switch out the two models you have for ones of my own and keep the node setup, is that a simple process or do I have to build it from the ground up again? Thanks, Rich

Motion Dreams

Yes you can use a different model instead of what I used. Just add the geo modifier created in this video to the model you want.
