It’s been a while since I saw this movie. I absolutely loved it, minus the part where Elle says “gay men know designers, straight men don’t” in a matter-of-factly tone. It could have been phrased slightly differently (e.g., “gay men are more likely to know designers than straight men”). I’m one of the least stereotypically gay persons you’ll meet! But hey, it was 2001, so I’ll forgive the filmmakers. As for Elle, I’m sure she didn’t mean any offense by it, she’s such a sweetheart!
