Trapped In Another World With No Magic

Chapter 77.5: The Birth of the First and Second Princesses of the Fievegal

Daniel knocks and enters Shek’s private quarters, where Shek and Skloe are in beds next to each other, waiting specifically on him. Though, ‘waiting’ is a stretch, since he has a pretty good idea why they’re present. They’re going into labor. It’s a little surprisingly coincidental that they both went into labor at the same time, but since they spend so much time together, it’s not impossible for their hormones to have aligned.

Daniel asks, “Shek, Skloe? How are you two doing?”

Shek says warmly, “Daniel! Is time. Babies come.”

Skloe adds a little bashfully, “S-Skloe and Shek hope Daniel want see.”

Honestly, he’s horrified by what’s about to happen, since he knows enough even without ever seeing it in person to know what a mother goes through at the crucial time.

But, he knows what Skloe means, more specifically, and he can stomach what’s about to happen to reach that specific point, for which he sincerely answers, “Yes, definitely. And, the others have a request. Since yours will likely be the first children born, excluding eggs,... They were hoping they could observe and help out as well. Is that alright?”

Shek sits up as much as she can as Daniel approaches. Xyreko or one of the other golems already gave them extra pillows to be able to sit up a little, as well as disposable sheets on mobile beds for the birthing. “Watch Shek and Skloe? But… Shek and Skloe goblins.”

Daniel smiles, petting her head gently as he stands between them. “I’ve told you already. You’re not just goblins, you're my goblin queens. And, you’re the mothers of my children. Or, you’re definitely about to be.”

They both smile dreamily, and Skloe replies sheepishly, “I-If… If others want, Skloe no mind.”

Daniel nods, looking to Shek. Shek replies tenderly, “Sh-Shek surprised. But, want friends and family here. Please invite in, Daniel.”

Daniel smiles warmly. “I’m glad you both feel that way. Truthfully, the more people here, the better it will be if you need any help with anything.”

They both nod agreeably, and Daniel calls out, “You can enter.”

The door opens, and Hekate bounds in quickly, saying excitedly, “This is so exciting! The eggs are one thing, but I want to hold a squishy little baby in my hands!” She giggles as she bounds up to the bedside next to Daniel, between Shek and Skloe. “Tell us if you need anything, Shek, Skloe. You’re my friends. And, though I envy you so much, I expect you’ll help me when my time comes.”

“Sh-Shek happy to, Hekate,” replies Shek nervously. “Shek happy to make army, too.”

Daniel chuckles, “Let’s let the kiddos decide that for themselves, alright?”

Skloe adds, “If Hekate ask for help, Skloe help, too. Though, Skloe just a goblin.”

Hekate puts her hands on her hips. “Some of the best people I know are goblins. Means nothing to me what race they are.”

The two goblin women blush, squirming and tensing when their bodies make automatic preparations for what’s coming. Hekate nervously flinches back and forth, unable to choose a direction. “Wh-What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

“P-Pain,” stammers Shek. “Baby come.”

Daniel nods, petting Hekate’s head to reassure her as the other women file into the room to observe and help out if need be. “It’s contractions. Their bodies are working muscles to squeeze the babies out.”

“Do-Do we need to help?” asks Hekate. “Sh-Should we massage them?”

“If they’re like humans, I don’t think it’ll help much. Not like the dragons.” Daniel pulls up a stool and takes a seat. “We’re right here, Shek, Skloe.” He takes their hands with each of his own, reassuring them. Xyreko prepared the tools Daniel asked for, and her golems will handle the messy parts.

Hekate sits on Skloe’s bedside, replying, “Yes, tell me if I can do anything.”

Skloe nods, and she squirms and cries out.

It takes a little while, and Hekate bounces nervously back and forth between whichever of the two goblins is crying more at the moment, nervously helpless as a tiny new life is coming into the world. Daniel overhears Geirahoel ask Reignleif quietly, “Did we sound like that?”

Reignleif nods her head gently. She’s hugging her first egg to her large belly as she watches intently. “Do you remember it feeling pleasant?” asks Reignleif a little dryly.

The auburn-haired dragon blushes with embarrassment. “I… I remember being really happy at the end…”

Reignleif and Ryuogriar both chuckle, and Gwenesphia takes a proactive role in helping Skloe deliver her baby, which is a little further ahead, while Hekate stands by for Shek, making sure she learns how to help as much as possible.

A baby starts crying as Gwenesphia stands up, cradling a little girl, and she walks around the bed as Hekate gapes like a fish. However, she offers the baby to Daniel first, and he takes the tiny infant gingerly. Even baby goblins -or half-goblins- are smaller than human babies, though that shouldn’t be much of a surprise.

However, as soon as she’s in Daniel’s arms, she calms down almost immediately, becoming profoundly relaxed. Everyone watches in wonder for more than one reason.

While the immediate bond is stunning, Daniel’s face is even softer and more gentle than anything before. He has been happy and loving to everyone the entire time, but his heart is completely melted as he holds his first daughter.

Ryuogriar gently rubs her own belly, mumbling softly in disappointment, “I wish I had been more assertive at the beginning.”

The other two dragons look at her sympathetically, feeling much the same way. Though, in fairness, they didn’t yet know what Daniel was truly like when he first contracted them, and they wanted eggs as soon as possible without thought to the fact that the male that conquered them wasn’t going to take them as his harem on his own. It is precisely this level of reserved self-control that makes him so comfortable to be around.

And, while he has pledged to take care of and treat the first three dragon children as his own, there’s something remarkable about seeing him hold his own daughter.

He gingerly hands the baby girl to Skloe as Gwenesphia helps her finally relax and sit up, and he encourages her to nurse the infant, turning to Shek and Hekate, where Hekate is urgently repeating, “It’s coming! It’s coming! The baby’s really coming! What-What do I do!?”

“Calm down, for starters,” urges Treia over Hekate’s shoulder. Daniel suspects Treia helped her mother deliver Treia’s younger siblings, at least one of them, so she’s fairly comfortable in the situation. And, Gwenesphia is the youngest of seven, with at least a couple of them who have children of their own that she was likely present for some of her nieces and nephews.

Hekate gingerly receives and cradles the second baby, shortly behind her half-sister. Of course, Hekate stammers, “H-H-How do I know if it’s a boy or a girl?” asks Hekate bashfully, glancing around herself. She folds her ears down in anger when a few chuckle at her, but when the baby coos and whimpers, she instantly snaps her ears back up, looking at the precious little life in her arms. Almost just like Daniel, Hekate is beaming at the little life in her arms, holding it nervously and delicately, even though the baby goblin squirms and coos plenty on her own.

Treia points out the most specific giveaway for how to tell the girl’s gender, and Hekate blushes bashfully, glancing at Daniel several times as he keeps a simple, amused smirk on his face. Treia declares, “They’re both girls.” She grins at Daniel, teasing, “Which means they’ll be the true rulers of the Citadel before long.” The others chuckle, and Shek gestures with her hands as her weakened body rests in a seated position against the abundant cushions. “Sh-Shek feed baby…”

Hekate nods vigorously, cautiously leaning over Shek to hand her the tiny, fragile being.

Daniel was stealthy about cutting both cords, and Xyreko makes sure the rest gets cleaned up properly as everyone crowds in to study the tiny little goblins.

Daniel crouches back down, petting Skloe’s and Shek’s heads gently. He sniffles a little, adding surprisingly tenderly, “Good work, Skloe and Shek. They’re both beautiful.”

Both goblins smile warmly, and Hekate pets Skloe’s baby as she leans close. “Welcome to the world, First Princess. I’m your… let’s say,... step mother? Regardless, come to me for anything.” She pets Shek’s baby as well as both infants hungrily nurse from their respective mothers. “Same for you, Second Princess.”

Shek asks nervously, “Sh-Shek’s baby really princess?”

Hekate smiles gently. “Of course. We’ll hash out some sort of inheritance plan later. Namely, when my children come along. But, regardless, they are daughters of the Emperor, which makes them Imperial Princesses.” She shoots Daniel a fairly sarcastic smirk, but he says nothing, simply smiling along.

Ryuogriar adds pointedly, “Plus, you’re both Goblin Queens. Regardless of their roles to the Citadel specifically, they will rule over the goblins at the very least when they come of age.”

Both Shek and Skloe perk up, grinning at each other. They then smile brightly, nodding.

Wenlianna asks softly, “Um… I know as much as the next person, especially since I was there when my two youngest sisters were born. But… Why are their bellies still so big?”

Before anyone else can respond with something playful, Daniel replies honestly, “Goblins have a… somewhat unique ability, when it comes to procreating. They can incubate different stages of children, apparently. So, there are two more a few weeks apart.”

Shek nods in agreement. She replies proudly, “Shek make promise. Shek do her best!” “Skloe too!” cheers the second goblin ruler.

Ryukana suddenly appears, having entered the room herself, and she walks gracefully towards the two goblins, with everyone else making room for the goddess. She smiles down at the goblins, and then crouches down to her knees. She places her hand on Skloe’s baby first, since she was first born. “What is her name?” asks Ryukana.

Skloe looks nervously at Daniel, and he smiles. “I don’t know traditional goblin names, so  you can pick whatever you want.”

Skloe thinks for a moment, and she blurts out, “Daniel!”

Everyone chuckles, and Shek whines, “No! Shek pick Daniel!”

“Neither of you are picking Daniel,” replies Daniel himself. “Daniel is a boy’s name.” He keeps the feminine ‘Danielle’ to himself for now. No one present can call him on it, since his is an Earth name.

Skloe correctly points out, “Daniel say Skloe could choose.”

“I did say that, but I didn’t think you’d pick my name. So, let me please sincerely ask you to pick names that are unique to them, since it’ll be their own personal identity.”

Skloe slumps a little, dejected. Daniel adds gently, “I appreciate the sentiment. I truly do. But, I’d rather all of our children have their own names so they can be significant in their own right if they want without living in anyone else’s shadow.”

Skloe and Shek both nod, and they look at each other.

Skloe asks, “Jieka?”

“Jieka? That sounds like a pretty name. Does it mean something?” She shakes her head, looking affectionately at her baby. “Skloe think it pretty.”

Daniel pets her head. “Perfect. Princess Jieka.”

Ryukana looks to Shek, who replies warmly, “Shek choose Tekten. Shek mother Tekabu.”

“Tekten. That’s a pretty name, as well. And, naturally, it sounds plenty unique to my ears.” She grins as well, and Ryukana gingerly places her hand on each baby’s chest, saying softly, “Princess Jieka, Princess Tekten. With what power I have, may you live long and prosperous lives with bountiful family.” Her hands glow, but she doesn’t provide an actual explanation of what she’s doing.

Shek and Skloe both reply reverently, “Thank you, Lady Ryukana.”

Daniel bows. “Thank you, my Lady.”

She smiles as she stands up. “As observer of a world, I rarely get to appreciate small moments like this. Consider this my thanks for allowing me to be a part of this moment.”

Reignleif squeaks, “Um… Lady Goddess, if you would…”

Ryukana smiles, saying, “I intend to be here for a long time. I will happily be present for all of this family’s children.”

Reignleif blushes and nods. Ryukana excuses herself to watch from the back as the other women take turns holding the babies after they’ve had their fill. The baby goblins have intelligent gazes already, and even before Shek and Skloe can get out of bed, the two infants can already crawl around and explore the world with their hands.

By the next day, they can walk, though in a stumbling manner, and they typically follow Shek and Skloe around, or Daniel if they catch him. He happily plays with them when he can, and the rest of his companions have learned something else that makes him happy, and it makes them happy as well.

Ryuogriar jokes as she’s petting her egg. “Maybe we can hatch them early…”

“Don’t you dare,” scolds Geirahoel.

The senior dragon chuckles, “Yes, yes. But, it does make the heart feel envious.” She cups her cheek as she admires the two princesses, and both of them stumble to her when they notice her watching. Ryuogriar crouches and greets them warmly, and they flop onto her as they crash into her, and they cling to her dress to stay on their feet. They gibber up at her, and she smiles petting their heads. They giggle happily, and continue their tour of getting headpats from everyone as they practice their newfound ability to run around. They are adorable, with a creamy green skin tone that is softer than their mothers, but not nearly like a sickly human color. Their big ears and eyes amplify their cuteness, along with little tufts of brown hair.

It definitely makes it sink in that the future is what they’re all working and fighting for.
