Hey everybody! I hope you all enjoyed the first episode of Road to the Rocket Launcher! I've got to say it's probably one of the toughest things I've made so far, and with Ratchet only just a few months ago, I can tell ya, it's been a challenging half year so far!

My Desktop PC is in a real jam right now though. I thought maybe I could get away with rendering videos on it even if games were causing it to shut down due to the mysterious anti-surge function... but no...

Since my PC wouldn't render the video I had to transfer all the project files to my Macbook, and considering this is one of the more complex episodes I've done in terms of visual, that wasn't easy. I had to move so many images and video clips from different sources over to a separate computer... nightmare...

A spent like an extra week trying to get out what was otherwise a finished video and again, I really do apologise for the delay.

As for the video though, I feel like I have some ways left to go before making analysis like this completely work in my style. Going forward I need to be able to present my info a little better I think. The quick cuts and constant clip switching in my videos may not have fit too well here, and going forward I'm going to try and make the editing more considered for RttR. I also want to lighten up a bit in future episodes; I was so concerned with getting all the info across that I feel I didn't include enough of that TGB banter, so I'll probably be experimenting a little more with tone next time.

Speaking of next time, when I started making the video we were over the 500$ goal for the series, but after the end of month drop-off we went back under it again. I won't be doing more episodes of RttR until we're back over it, but we're only like 20 dollars away so hopefully that won't be a big speed bump.

Playing through Resi 1 again was actually really fun, and it's easy to forget just how thought out the game really was for Capcom's first foray into 3D horror. It's mental that they combined adventure game style puzzle solving, gunplay and brutal enemies and somehow it wasn't a completely frustrating disaster. I think it's too easy to classify Resident Evil 1 as dated because of the awful cutscenes/weird voice acting and call it a day; but put that stuff to one side and you're still left with a tight package. No glitches, no weird unintelligible puzzle to halt progression, no frustrating unbeatable boss to ruin a playthrough. Go back and play other experimental games of the time and you'll find one those three "problemos" in most of them. But Resi 1 truly is one of the early 3D greats and has aged far better than I think the memes and in-jokes over the years have painted it.

A final heads up for 3$ backers and above: this month's TGB Insider will be a bit later than usual. I figured it would make sense to delay it until later in the month so I can talk about E3 news, which I think will make for a juicy episode. Until then!

Really enjoyed the first episode and appreciate all the extra time you spend making the graphs to better explain the structure and layout. But as you've already pointed out here, the quick cutting and moving from one point to the next made it harder as a viewer to take it all in. Sometimes I couldn't really understand the graph in the two seconds you showed it and had to pause the video. Compared to Mark you're talking a lot faster (which fits your style) with fewer pauses in between. I think this resulted in you having to cut between footage and graphs much quicker than Mark does in his Boss Keys episodes. Maybe spend a little bit more time in the script when you get to the graph sections and put in some pauses for us to comprehend it better. Though again, great video overall and I hope we can break the $500 so you can continue with RE2 :)
