He's made his list, he's checked it twice and found another platformer series he hasn't talked about yet.

Not that I'm look for scraps or anything. I have a history with Rayman and it's cathartic to finally talk about it.

My aim this month is to get out another short Recommendation video as well as a special Patreon review out this month. But there's also a lot of admin to get done too as the year comes to a close - hopefully all goes according to plan.

Catch you back here soon! Which is your favourite Rayman?

It's actually really interesting Rayman has such a schizophrenic tone between it's games. Cause another Ubisoft franchise "prince of Persia" is very similar in that regard. The PS2 trilogy has a consistent story between the games somehow but despite that they almost feel like retcons of each other. Sands of time is an Arabian nights feeling 3d parkour platformer with a good story with well written characters, but the combat kinda sucks. Warrior within becomes a character action game almost and added blood and gore it's kinda sick, but the writing is worse and it feels like it was done to sell more copies. Two Thrones tries to tie the previous two games together and is surprisingly affective to recanonise the different feels as representing the characters mental state at the time, it attempts to take the best of the two and is mostly successful. To steal a quote from zero punctuation the three games feel like their best elements combined could create the best game ever, but none of them ever quite get there. I'm curious if other Ubisoft franchises are like this.

Well, this is a welcome surprise. Always had a soft spot for Rayman. 3 is my favourite, I own every version of it, even for consoles I never even had. I'll watch the video when I have time later. Very curious to hear what you have to say about the franchise.

Watched it. I'm surprised by how much your views align with mine, especially on 3 and the combo system. Always loved that and the way item pick-ups and power-ups interact with it and switch up the combat.
