Just finished the video. and while hearing and understanding your viewpoint was pretty neat, I feel like this video came a bit too late, but that's a subjective thing. Funnily enough, I think this video would have been better if instead of a video just being a critique of Samus Returns, instead it was a video on how the Metroidvania genre has evolved without the Metroid or the Castlevania, to better show off how behind SR feels compared to its contemporaries (in your opinion, I say this because I don't play much of that genre myself). It's almost the same issue I had with your Crash HD video, except while that video just felt like a vid made to talk about HD remakes covered up in a Crash review (which in my eyes hindered the video), this vid feels like it would have benefited if it were about the genre as a whole while also being a review, or something. Idk, that's a free idea for you, unless you thought about making a video like that already.

To be totally honest, I think you do really have the unofficial title of being THE gaming critique for Metroid and Samus. I feel like you're probably the biggest Samus fan in the world with a Youtube channel, and when you review a Metroid game and say things we know it's because you love it so much and want the best for it. I found this review to be my favorite review of it, honest, but not just trashing it to join a bandwagon or anything. Good stuff man :)

The One True Nobody

I think it's a little unfair to expect a video to be "just" about a specific game. Nothing can be critiqued in a vacuum. The question of how a game stands up to other games that offer similar experiences is always going to be a big point of perspective when reviewing something. And that's always a big part of Brit's thought process when reviewing or critiquing a game. I think it's part of what makes his videos insightful and interesting in a way that sets them apart from other reviewers on the platform. Another big thing, though, is that you don't usually get in-depth talk about this kind of thing UNTIL the hype has died down. BioShock Infinite, for instance. You couldn't say a word against it for a while after it came out... then people cooled down about it and you started to get more discussion of its ups and downs.
