Remember when I said the latest video would be over an hour... well it's looking like it might be considerably longer. It's never my intention to make a long video on purpose; the videos on my channel range from short to long because I talk for as long as I think each topic requires or until I run out of things to say.

Usually it's only in the process of writing where I get a sense for how long something is gonna take to discuss. This time my estimate was a little off...

As you can see I have around 55 minutes of audio and video fully edited. The rest of the green audio are my recording sessions that have yet to be edited down.

Just to clarify, all that audio left on the timeline doesn't mean there's 5 more hours of video left to edit. I do a lot of takes when recording, (an indulgence I can afford on a project of my own), and I can see what's left maybe tallying up to about 30-40 minutes of further video.

Silent Hill 2 is such an intricate web of ideas and details, doing it justice is my ultimate goal with this video so here we are - with probably my longest video to date.

This time I broke my recording sessions down into smaller chunks. The Ratchet 2016 Comparison and the Jak Trilogy video, my two other longest videos, were recorded in 4-5 sessions. There will be likely bits and pieces to re-record come the tweaking stages but it's a big relief to finally have the main script recorded. Pacing the recording sessions out into about 10 sessions made the recording process a little less tiring. Even so I think I went overboard on the takes, I ended up with give or take 10 hours of audio to comb through when something like Ratchet 2016 only landed me with about 5. Since I knew I'd be recording a smaller segment of the script at a time than on prior long-videos, I probably ended up spending more time on each line.

I initially thought not having the bulk of the audio done before starting to edit footage would drive me crazy, but it was actually quite nice for a change seeing the video come together while recording the voice over, as I was doing a recording session each day and then editing footage together right after.

Right now I think I'll be done editing footage and audio in about a week. Then after that it will probably take another week to comb through it all again, tweaking and polishing things up (the least fun part of making videos, trust me).

I want it out before the end of the month, and I'm confident that's doable. My process has been streamlined significantly since I made the Ratchet 2016 video. Jak Trilogy only took me just over a month to make, so hopefully I can replicate that efficiency here.

I'll be releasing a couple more Patreon exclusive videos in the meantime, so watch out for those!

See you soon!
