Video Production Update September 17th 2022 (Patreon)

Hey everybody! With Resident Evil 4 Road to the Rocket Launcher out, let's see where we're at on the content roadmap at the moment!

It's been a long time coming, but Sly is next. This is gonna take a while to put together so don't expect it soon. In the meantime I have plenty of things on the side to keep us busy until then.

First of all I have another medium sized video like the "Nero" video practically written, but I'm going to wait until a certain rumoured game gets announced to finish it off. Once it does I'll pull the trigger on finishing that project. I have some other ideas floating around and hopefully you'll see one of them out by month's end.

TGB Insiders are coming out slower and one big reason for that is that most of the modern big titles releasing right now that I'd consider playing are crazy jumbo open world monster games that take a while to finish and churn out a small video for. Granted, I didn't have to 100% GhostWire or Ghost of Tsushima for my Insider videos on them but err... the point still stands. There are some shorter games with significant profiles out at the moment like Stray but do you really need a video, even a short one, talking about how I don't like automated platforming - probably not. 

I'm sure I'll beat something soon worth talking about though.

We just wrapped up Dino Crisis 2 on Backlog with Brit so I'm wondering what to do next with this video series.

We've completed 2 games so far: Dino Crisis 1 and Dino Crisis 2, but interest seems to fall off after the first couple of parts. Meanwhile people seem a lot more interested in the 1st part of a Backlog with Brit series, so as much as I like the old-school Youtube Let's Play energy of the multi-part episodes, maybe it's time we return to experimenting with one off episodes again. Let me know your thoughts. I'm sure at least one episode of me trying Dino Crisis 3 would be appreciated!👀

If you want to see more of me playing games we've been going hard on Monster Hunter on the stream lately. Right now we're in the midst of the Japanese-exclusive Monster Hunter 2 Dos. It's a tough out there for a foreign hunter, so you can head over their to lend us your encouragement!

Personally prefer several videos on one game (in the let’s play format) over the one-part Backlog videos, as they can go much deeper into the games. Makes sense that they’d not get as many views because of interest and/or entry barrier. Hope you won’t abandon the let’s play concept completely however. Your videos w/ heavy old school vibes are my favorite

I think it’d be cool to do a mix with the backlog. As Miklo pointed out it feels kind of inevitable that a full let’s play would shrink in viewership overtime, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worthwhile for those who do watch it through. Maybe experiment more on the game side of things though! If something weird and possibly bad would make for a cool impressions video it’d be great to just get a one off, but for games that people seem more dedicated to like the first two Dino crisis games I much prefer that you play through the whole thing ya know. Seeing as the third Dino is pretty shit I’d love a one off impressions backlog, I really don’t think you need to play through it all to get the full experience.
