I won't leave you all hanging as long as with Bayo 1 again. This time we're reviewing the new Bayo straight away and... well it's an interesting one.

I keep putting off doing production updates, but that's just because I've been spending all my work time just trying hammer out as much as possible lately. I'll make it a priority to put another one together soon.

Bayonetta 3 Review

Why did they not add Lumen Sage as playable character? It was such an obvious choice, they even created basics for his moveset in Bayo2. Plot and gameplay wise I would be interested for a game more focused on Lumen Sages that's what we haven't gotten yet. What we've gotten with B3 is another same adventure but instead of time travel, or travel to underworld, we travel to another dimension.

Without hyperbole, Bayonetta 3 is one of the most disappointing games I've ever played. A stinging case of "be careful what you wish for" for me. I genuinely couldn't believe it was made by the same team that made Bayonetta 1 and 2. Seeing all the high scores and adjectives like "masterpiece" being thrown at it is mind-boggling. Borderline gaslighting stuff.

I'm with you; truly don't understand what critics saw in this one. I thought Bayonetta 2 was disappointing at high level too, but I kinda understood the reception to that one: Bayo 2 initially reads as a polished, tightened-up game on your first go, and the problems don't start to become big and noticeable until you get to Infinite Climax, and most critics aren't going to be action game freaks who play games to the skill ceiling. Bayonetta 3 though? Really can't imagine what they saw there: The pacing of a first casual playthrough is an absolute slog, with like 15% of your time actually being spent in meaningful combat, and the rest being spent either exploring way-too-big spaces for annoying puzzles and collectibles, or doing usually awful gimmick setpieces that never explain themselves. I've not dove into high-level yet so I can't say how well Bayo 3 holds up mechanically as a stylish action game, but my first playthrough-and-a-half impression of everything else is NOT good.
