Video Production Update January 31st 2023 (Patreon)

Welcome back everybody. Only 1 last major video remains for this block of vids:
The next big project is Chain of Memories. I say "big" because there's gonna be a lot of work involved in how I go about it; I'm not sure how long the video itself will be yet. So while we're reaching the end of this block you may not see the video for some time, much like how the Hauzer video took some extra time due to considerable preparations too. I think it'll be worth it in the end though and will result in a pretty special video.
In the meantime you'll probably see more videos that require less production time, like the recent Onimusha videos.
What you saw in the Hauzer video took some time to put together since not only did I source a 3DO but also an original Japanese model with an exclusive 240p switch mode, rather than just the default 480i mode most models support. I recorded the game through s-video (the highest quality cable the console supports without modding) on this special progressive mode and I think it came out pretty crisp. I didn't use an upscaler so you could argue there was better quality footage I could have weened out of the 3DO, but nevertheless I think you'll be hard pressed to find a more authentic Doctor Hauzer video! It will probably be worth getting some more use out of the console in the future...
In regards to Hauzer though, it was fun to return to Riverhillsoft one last time to truly complete the Overblood saga... it's been a real ride and I hope the wait for this Back from the Dead was worth it to all you Over-heads out there!
Of course, I have to thank the generous backers for funding the show and allowing me to splash out on all this kit for these extremely obscure topics!
In the future I may be commissioning some background music for videos, so I can shape the feel of them a bit more without having to take part in the legally ambiguous practice of sourcing background music from the game's themselves. So be prepared for some experimentation in the coming months.
Recently for Legend level backers I posted a commentary track for one of my old videos; the Ratchet 2016 analysis. You can check it out here. It's a bit of a ramble but a fun opportunity to reminisce and let you know where my thoughts are at so many years later. Really, it's just a good chance to do some podcast style content but with some visuals and material to work off while I talk to help it flow.
For Insider Backers, I have a new Insider review in the works as we speak, hopefully it should be up in a couple of days.
I will also strive to get a Backlog with Brit on Dino Crisis 3 out in February, so stay tuned for that too!
In terms of streaming, I've just been on a real roll with videos at the moment that I don't want to let up for what is a much more secondary venture. I'll give it some thought as to what could be interesting to stream though, since there have been some requests for me to get back to it.
I ended up playing a bit more of Sonic Frontiers in my own time. I may just end up finishing it off-stream since I don't know if it's really the kind of game that's that entertaining to watch me play.
Streaming is also tricky for me, since as my life and schedule switch around it becomes something harder to do consistently, but I'm sure I'll be giving it another go at some point.
Anyway, I'll see you back here soon, expect some more stopgap reviews in February while I build towards Chain of Memories. I'll catch you back here soon!
