Hey all,

Welcome to August. Here is the first preview of the month, another Sunny preview.

Was not the best two weeks for work on this game, if I'm being honest. Less than an hour after I posted the last status update, my computer crashed. I was actually playing a game and relaxing for a bit when the system locked up, then rebooted itself, and when it came back up it went straight to BIOS, never a good sign. I rebooted again and again it went straight to BIOS. After some checking determined that my boot drive was no longer recognized by the system. I messed with it most of the weekend without luck and ended up just buying a new drive. I had it expedited and got it in a few days later. Spent most of the next day installing it and getting the OS and apps reinstalled. So, I'm back up and running, just lost a few days in working on the game. However, even though my boot drive is primarily just OS and apps, it also contains all the docs for the game. By docs, I mean spreadsheets for tracking progress and most importantly, the script for each chapter that has all the dialogue and scene info in it. I have a backup of all of that but it was old and did not include any of the Chapter 06 stuff. Moral of the story, make sure to backup frequently!!! Thankfully, all my renders and scenes, as well as all the programming related docs, that I've completed are on a different drive and were unaffected.

So, once my computer was back up, in addition to getting the August 4k renders done, I worked on rebuilding that script for Chapter 06. I have it all in my head, but unfortunately, I do not have a photographic memory, so I've been writing it as best I can remember. It's not all bad, there was a scene in the original script I did not like and was going to rewrite anyway, so I went ahead and fixed that. I have been splitting my time between getting scenes setup, rendering, and rewriting the script. It's been a pain to be sure, but it's coming along. I am nearly done rewriting the script, one more playable day to finish and that should be it.

And, I now have BAT files in place to automatically backup all those files to an external drive for safe keeping in case something like this happens again. Hoping that it won't though! 😁

That's all for now. As always, if anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns, feel free to hit me up.

I greatly appreciate everyone's support.

Thanks,

The Cap'n
