Can you see where I'm going with this one... 😏?

Maybe a scenario like this has already been played in the anime / manga or maybe not. I really don't know, but I won't let my ignorance stop me from having fun...!

BTW, I forgot to mention it but the reading direction will be the traditional Japanese reading order. (From right to left and from top to bottom.)

I know that there is a whole debate about what is the correct way to format your book when it is created by a foreign artist, but after reading as many mangas as I have, it begins to feel very wrong to read manga in the Western way... 🤢📖

In my collection I have some really old mangas, from the time when publishers used to change the reading direction to the Western format (from left to right.) I can't help but cringe at that atrocity...🤦‍♂️

So I guess for the sake of consistency and for the sanity of any avid manga readers, this is the most convenient option...!

You mean the scenario of the monsters becoming tangible and hurting(or otherwise interacting with) people? I think in the first episode Yugi's granddad was left lying on the floor after losing to Kaiba, but maybe he was just being a huge drama queen.

They even joke about it in YGOTAS: "For some reason, playing a card game has caused me to become severely injured"

I have watched some episodes of Yu-gi-oh! here and there. But I stopped after some time because the way they broke the rules of the game drove me crazy...lol So I'm far from being an expert on Yu-gi-oh! lore... 😅 As far as I can remember from the first few episodes I watched, the holograms didn't harm people but Yugi's grandfather had a heart attack from the shock of losing his precious blue-eyed white dragon. The whole thing about monsters becoming real and actually harming people didn't start until the millennium items and the shadow realm started playing a big part in the plot. I'm kind of aiming for something similar, but this can be treated as a spin-off, elseworld, shared universe, etc. It's all about presenting a story with internal coherence that doesn't require watching the anime or manga to make sense.
