How to perform the injog overhand shuffle (and other closely related shuffles). The injog is a concept we will revisit time and again, but this is one of its most common uses.

PRACTICE DRILL: Make sure you know what the top card is. Regrip the deck for an overhand shuffle. Chop off half the deck, injog a card, and then shuffle off. Regrip the deck in left hand dealing position and obtain a fourth finger break below the injog. In other words, you have centralized the top card and hold a break above it. Now, perform a riffle force, thumb the card off, giving it to an imaginary spectator. Reassemble the deck. Now, cut off the top half of the deck in end grip and have the selected card replaced on top of the left hand's cards. Put the right hand's cards back down on top, but catch a left fourth finger break (i.e. a pinky break) between the two halves. Control the selected card to the top with a double undercut. Regrip the deck for an overhand shuffle. Chop off half the deck, injog a card, and then shuffle off. Form a break below the injog, shuffle back to the break, then throw the rest on top. The selected card is back on top. Now, perform an in-the-hands riffle shuffle, but keep the selected card on top. So far, you have controlled a forced selection to the top and then kept it on top using the injog overhand shuffle and riffle shuffle controls. Regrip the deck and dealing position, obtain a break underneath the top two cards, and perform a double lift, showing an indifferent card. Obtain a break under two cards and turn this double card face down again. Take the top card and place it on to the table, face down. Snap your fingers (or make a magical gesture of your choosing), then turn this card over, revealing that it has transformed into the selected card.
