Spooktober Poll 1 Results: Ember McLain Wins! (Patreon)

You know few polls have made me reflect on things as much as this one. For one, it confirms that a strong faction of the Danny Phantom fandom is alive and well. I think the turn out for Ember McLain shows how much potential there is to draw from her dynamic with the dipstick.

Moon Set Status: Going well enough, if it was just the standard 4 pages I wouldve finished by tomorrow but theres a bit more so monday ish or tuesday at the latest if I run into any complicated shading/background issues. Then I can work on Daphne, who, based off my initial sketches might be a bit longer than normal. We'll see.

Damn. Like I didn't expect them to win, but I thought I was giving Thorn and Sally a bit of help so they could hold their own a little at least in October of all times. But it looks like theyre more of "oneshot" material than set. Marceline had a good showing too. Katie was pretty much a sacrificial lamb, I knew going in she's too obscure but I wanted to gauge some interest for Scary Godmother and niche cartoons. But hey.

Eh, guess thats fine a little seasonal oneshots here and there.

WHAT IS NOT FINE THO.

Damn. DAMN DAMN DAMN. This proves my worsts fears. Loona is one of the more popular nsfw characters and she used to have a strong presence here until SOMETHING happened... and I know what, I fucked up her storyline. I let Loona lose too much aura or rather... I can count on 1 or 2 hands how many times I've err 'mellowed' out a story.. made it fluffier than I would of liked just to make it easier on the script/outline process and nearly every time I did so, interest in those characters tanked. That's my bad for suppressing my instincts for the appeasing route.

So for the time being, I think it's time to shelf Loona from set polls until such a time that.... review her storyline. I can do a oneshot here and there but I dont want to pressure myself to give her a story until I've got an angle I like. I've always wanted to either make an Episode 0 or reboot her intro with updated art, but that day wont be until I finish the projects I have lined up after this damn backlog! UGH.

UNTIL THEN. I think its time I.... REEEEEACCH into my box of toys and pull out OTHER Hazbinverse ideas I've been withholding... oohhh such wonderful spicy ideas... maybe they wont be Loona tier sure, but I've been waiting for such an occasion.

I will always be a Loona stan, but I'll admit I went to a second choice when it was clear she was pulling a difficult 3rd. Love some ember, but god do I long for a Loona return.

Its been a while coming, she hasnt won a set in a while and at the same time the plotline felt like it was going stale. Im not big on Millie art and that was a big part of the convo each time I drew Loona, gets kinda tiring so Im looking into options for the moment. Might make a split story if only to keep the joke running separately as oneshots tho.

You know i assumed Loona was a sure thing, considering the new season is airing, but looks like it’s going to be a while until she gets another set, I also wouldn’t mind seeing you tackle Verosika again since your art style has changed so much since the last time you drew her. I’m also deeply disappointed with how Thorne performed, While I didn’t vote for her ( I voted for Loona) I was hoping she’d do well enough to where you justify drawing the other hex girls at some point, but it looks like that’s a no go for now, oh and by the way I find it deeply funny that this poll is is how you figured out that the internet is OBSESSED with Danny Phantom with that said I’m still mad that kitty didn’t win a more recent vote so I don’t know maybe it’s less of Danny Phantom thing and more of a Ember McLain thing going here.
