Love the opening number for this movie…as I’m sure you did too. A great homage to classic Hollywood musicals, with some high stakes thrills mixed in. Can’t wait to see the myriad of faces you made during the palace dinner scene…and the invasion of gigantic insects scene.

Rented from Blockbuster. Our new dog chewed the tape. $$$$$$$$

Rick Rodriguez

Over criticized gem. Deepens Indy's character.

That was a lot of fun! Just like the movie itself, your reaction was a thrill a minute. Right from the start, when you said you could picture Indy getting lowered into the dance routine, I couldn’t get the image out of my head of Harrison Ford doing an Austin Powers like musical intro to the movie. You were right when you said that this movie, although the second in the franchise, can be seen as a stand alone film. And the same can be said for the films that follow. The movies are more like just different chapters in Indy’s life, rather than being direct continuations (or a direct prequel, in the case of this movie) of a singular storyline. And you did not disappoint during the palace dinner scene and the insect invasion scene. Your facial contortions were great! 😂😂😂. I think that’s why your cheeks were hurting by the end of the movie. By the way, there were over 80,000 live insects used for that scene, and Kate Capshaw allowed them to crawl on her…no stunt double was used. I remember thinking the mine cart chase scene was the most insane thing I had seen in a movie up to that point. And I was so hoping it would be made into a roller coaster ride at Disney World or Universal Studios. I would have rode the shit out of a ride like that. Your sense of humor was on full display throughout this whole reaction, and it made this rewatch for me so fresh and enjoyable. Right up to the end, when you said how funny it would be if when Indy gave the stone back to the village elder, he said “Oh, it’s actually the wrong one.” Just another example of why your reactions are top tier and so much fun.

So much fun. It’s like getting on a ride and never getting off. The creativity of all the stunts were amazing. It nice to know that Steven Spielberg ended up marring Kate Capshaw and they are still married today. Short Round and Harrison Ford were good friends and they stayed in touch. Was this young guy in Goonies? I thought so but maybe I am wrong. Thanks again Kate what a great cinematic ride.

I think I heard you mention it seemed like a video game at some point, or maybe it was just ride. But they made this into one of the coolest arcade games of the time. You had to free prisoners from the camp, Mola Ram would appear randomly and throw flaming hearts at you, then you'd have to get the stones and then escape in the mine carts, and then the bridge. It was one of the first games with voice in the game so was cool hearing Mola Ram say "Kali Ma will rule the world!" and when you get to the end of the mine carts you hear Indy say "We walk from here." It was one of the most impressive games of its time, and used the music perfectly. This is one of the best soundtracks in any movie.
