One of my favourite Adam Sandler movies! Looking forward to watching this tonight. 😊🖤

One of the few Adam Sandler movies I can watch without throwing my dirty socks at the TV.

This is a cute one! Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler revived their great chemistry a few years later in 50 First Dates (2004)

Another delightful reaction. Thank you, Kate! :) I look forward to your reaction to 'Happy Gilmore'.

I didn’t realize until Kate was talking about Alexis Arquette (George) in the outro that Alexis was also in Pulp Fiction as the person hiding in the apartment with the big ass gun who pops out to shoot Jules & Vincent and misses every shot.

I was so excited to see the notification for this reaction pop up on my phone! This is by far my favorite Adam Sandler movie. It perfectly captures the spirit of 80’s pop culture, 80’s fashion, and those wild 80’s hairstyles. It’s a fantastic storyline with smart dialogue that lovingly spoofs the 80’s era and delivers lots of laughs without being too goofy and over the top, a trait of many of Sandler’s movies. Sandler’s sweet natured performance as the lead in a rom com is a far cry from the abrasive, childish characters he plays in Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, and its one of the reasons why I love this movie. So you read about one of the fun facts about this movie regarding Carrie Fisher’s uncredited involvement in the development of the script, specifically working on Drew Barrymore’s dialogue as Julia Gulia (a trulia uncoolia name!) And you picked up on The Friends connection with some of the cast members…Christina Pickles as Judy Geller and Jon Lovitz as Steve, the super stoned restaurateur that showed up in two episodes. But there are two more cast members with ties to Friends. Angela Featherstone (Linda in the movie) is the girl Ross cheats on Rachel with because he thinks “We were on a break!” And you recognized Christine Taylor as Ben Stiller’s wife, but she also played Bonnie, the girl Ross dates who shaves her head the night that he and Rachel get back together. And I can’t talk about this movie without also talking about the music. The two volume soundtrack is a collection of 23 songs (not counting the two that Sandler wrote and performed in the movie) that helped define early 80’s New Wave and Pop music and dominated radio play for years. And that’s not counting the snippets of many other huge hits that were featured throughout the film. Plus, the movie opens up with Sandler singing what I consider to be the greatest dance song of the decade…You Spin Me Round by Dead or Alive. The Murder Mix extended version of this song is a glorious 8 minutes long, and is what I like to call a DJ’s best friend. The bass is a lot deeper and richer than the album version, which sounds amazing on my JBL speakers. The extended mix opens with just over a minute of an instrumental segment that gradually builds to the main structure of the song. This is perfect for mixing the song with the previous song that was playing, and gives ample time for any announcements or shout outs that I may need to make. Once the main structure kicks in, it’s 2 more minutes of pure dance energy before the vocals are heard. This version never fails to fill the dance floor when I play it. I DJ’d an 80’s themed party a couple of years ago and there were three people, two guys and one woman, who dressed up like the lead singer, Pete Burns. I put this song on, and the woman and one of the guys danced and lip synced through the entire song. So much fun. Anyway, back to the movie! This was a really fun reaction and I’m grateful to the Excalibur member who greenlit its release from the vault. I hope to see a reaction to another Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore collaboration, 50 First Dates, on the channel soon, along with a Drew Barrymore movie sans Sandler…Never Been Kissed. Two more excellent rom coms….with no nipple twisting.

OK, OK, I dissed Adam Sandler too much. Watched the end of "Fifty First Dates" last night. I like him in that, too.

I saw him on Saturday Night Live every week while most of you were saying "it's not as good as it used to be with Belushi and Bill Murray "🙄 Laughed all the way through the 90's and the 00's. "Please get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up."

Russ Hayes

These two are a great pair. I'm sure you would enjoy them in 50 First Dates as well.
