Part 5: The Escape Plan
Tonight, just like every other night… the mirror becomes a confidant, reflecting a silhouette that grows ever more unfamiliar.
Quan Law's hair was meticulously groomed, flowing as if he had just stepped out of a lavish party. The white silk dress clung to every contour, making his figure appear so soft and feminine that even he could no longer recognize himself.
His skin, already fair, had grown even paler, for in the past months, he had rarely been exposed to sunlight, except for the occasional weekend strolls. His nails were painted a soft nude shade—not too striking, yet enough to reveal the care put into them.
Why did Quan Law have to adorn himself in such a feminine way? One simple answer—Haze Thomas liked it that way! It seemed that the pleasure of tyrants lay in controlling women who couldn’t resist. Thalia Lee had never been that kind of person. She was defiant, headstrong. Haze Thomas despised her, but this was an arranged marriage, so he had no choice but to accept it.
But that no longer mattered. Thalia Lee was now completely different after the accident. A fabricated accident with only one purpose—to erase every trace of a programmer named Quan Law.
And then, the door behind him swung open. Quan Law didn’t need to look to know who it was. No one dared enter his private chamber except himself and his future wife. Haze Thomas’s breath filled the room. He stood right behind Quan Law, a firm hand resting on his waist, pulling him closer. A light kiss brushed against the nape of his neck. Quan Law clenched his fists, nails digging so deep into his palms that they nearly drew blood. He was tensing every muscle in his body to suppress the shudder threatening to overtake him.
Quan Law’s near-tearful expression only delighted Haze Thomas further. He bit lightly at Quan Law’s neck, “You’re beautiful! Always have been.” His voice was low and gentle, yet laced with possession, “The you of these past months has driven me mad with joy! I prefer you this way.”
At this point, Quan Law could no longer suppress the shudder. He had never been gay. This was his body’s raw reaction to another man—a being far superior to him—constantly pressing down and invading his space. But this reaction did him no good. He prayed that Haze Thomas wouldn’t notice. Yet deep down, he feared that perhaps Thomas had already noticed—but was simply choosing to ignore it.
Haze Thomas's hand tightened around Quan Law, pulling him into his embrace, “I want us to be closer, Thalia Lee.” Quan Law’s throat tightened. He didn’t know if Haze Thomas was testing him or if he truly believed that he was a wife transformed by the accident. But whether it was the former or the latter, the outcome remained the same—Haze Thomas would not stop.
In the dead of night, Quan Law lay motionless on the bed. He was clad in white lace lingerie and a matching silk nightgown. Countless times throughout the night, he jolted awake, staring at his own body in shock. Except for the part he kept hidden—something he could never allow to be exposed—he was no different from a woman. Of course. When had lingerie and nightgowns ever been made for men?
Haze Thomas was fast asleep, his breathing steady and deep. As always, he adhered to the rule he himself had set, “No sex unless his wife shows signs of readiness.” Because of that, Quan Law had managed to extend his days of survival. If Haze Thomas ever discovered that he was a man—that he had deceived him all this time—then Quan Law would surely be condemned to a life in hell.
Quan Law stared at the ceiling, darkness engulfing his body, but his mind spun relentlessly. He didn’t dare look at the husband lying beside him, afraid that Haze Thomas might suddenly open his eyes and stare at him like a wild beast. He couldn’t even remember the last time he had worn men’s clothing. His trembling hand rested on his chest, where the soft fabric clung to his skin, the padded bra giving the illusion of curves. A few months wasn’t long enough for him to truly adapt to life as a woman. But the terrifying thing was—it was becoming familiar. Everything was changing. He was changing. The realization struck him like a bolt of lightning, these few months had been enough to overwrite the 28 years he had lived as a man. Not yet. But the signs were there. No! This wasn’t him! Escape was the only way out!
⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆
A rare opportunity arrived one day. Haze Thomas had a short business trip to another city for three days. He had intended to take Quan Law with him—unwilling to be apart for too long—but Quan Law firmly refused, citing his unhealed injuries as an excuse. And so, Quan Law had three days to execute his plan. He could not afford to make a mistake. In the darkness, Quan Law faintly saw another version of himself—a shadow of the man he once was—reaching out a hand toward him. He had to escape!
7 PM. Quan Law stepped out of the room, his heart pounding wildly. He had spent the entire day planning. The nearest exit was the glass door at the back of the garden. There were no servants here—only that single door leading directly outside. All he needed to do was cross it, find help, or even just… run. Run as fast as he could. One chance. He descended the stairs, his breath quick and unsteady. Just a few more steps. Heaven was within reach. All he had to do was open the door. All he had to do was—

“Madam!” The voice from behind sent a jolt through his veins, freezing the blood in his body. Quan Law turned around. The maid stood right behind him, eyes locked onto him. No suspicion. No wariness. But also, no intention of letting him do as he pleased.
“Sir instructed that if you wish to go outside, you must be accompanied by a bodyguard.”
Quan Law’s throat tightened. He stared into her eyes. Empty. As if she had known his plan all along. No—Haze Thomas had known all along! His limbs were still free, yet in his mind, he could feel the weight of invisible chains binding them in place. At that moment, he understood one thing—he had never had a chance to escape from the very beginning.
Despair surged like a rising tide. It was the feeling of being just one step away from success—of having hope flicker to life, only to be snuffed out without warning.
Quan Law stood frozen, his legs cold as ice. The maid remained there, her gaze calm, as if reminding the “young mistress” to take a bodyguard along was nothing more than an offhand remark. But he knew all too well—this was surveillance.
Haze Thomas had always known. He didn’t need to appear in person, didn’t need to give direct orders. Just a casual remark before leaving, a seemingly simple instruction, was enough to lock him into this life. A cage without a lock. Control without violence. A meticulously crafted game. Haze Thomas wanted him to realize—every effort was futile.
Quan Law returned to his room. His footsteps were heavy, as if dragging an invisible weight behind him. The door closed heavily behind him, trapping him in a silence so profound that he could hear every frantic beat of his own heart. Quan Law had everything in his hands—the ideal living conditions—yet at the same time, he had nothing at all. Even hope had been extinguished.
He let himself collapse onto the bed, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. How much longer? How much longer before Thalia Lee completely replaces Quan Law?
These past days, he had tried to convince himself that this was just an act, that he was only pretending to survive. But every layer of soft fabric wrapped around his skin, every movement he had forced himself to practice until it became second nature, every sweet word he compelled himself to utter—each of them was slowly eroding his true self. Bit by bit. Silently. Irresistibly. If you have ever tried, then admit it to yourself—feminization is a temptation impossible to resist, until the moment you fully embrace it!
