Bravo, no, bravissimo to Beardo Benjo for rediscovering my first open world mod! Turns out it can still be played today, with just a few preliminary operations to roll back the game to the last version before the publisher decided they were selling too many additional copies to VR lovers ;-)

Have fun watching Beardo Benjo playing [redacted to keep lawyers happy] and remember to smash all the like/subscribe/bell buttons on his videos, because VR needs people like him, and because he can make NPCs fly high in the sky (and try to shoot them with his RPG while they’re still burning) like no other!!!

GTA 5 VR is one of the BEST VR MODS in 2024! // Quest 3 PC VR Gameplay

GTA 5 VR is still one of the very BEST VR mods in 2024 despite it not receiving any updates or enhancements since Rockstar shut the project down two years ago! I actually thought you couldn't play Grand Theft Auto 5 VR anymore but thanks to the guys over in the Flat 2 VR Discord channel I found out you can still get this mod working with a few additional steps and it's just as much fun as I remember. You can play the entire GTA V story in VR and free roam to your hearts content, the only thing you CAN'T do is play online, that portion of the game is off limits with the VR mod. If you want a near endless and incredible VR game that will keep you laughing and smiling for hours upon hours then GTA V VR / GTA 5 VR is what I'd recommend, easily one of the best VR mods available today. Incredible how the publisher thinks these mods are bad. I would never have bought GTA5 without your mod. I don't play flatscreen games (I don't see the point). Thanks Luke for all that you do!!!!!

It took a few hours to set it up properly but if you get it right (RTX 4090 and a Quest 3 recommended for decent fps figures ) GTAV in VR is the one true triple A game we all want. What could have been if Luke was allowed to maintain this legend of a mod.

It is genuinely impossible to understand the thinking behind the Cease & Desist on this. They do not have a VR offering that was undermined by the mod, they gained sales that are directly attributable to the mod, yet they blocked the mod!

Mick Manchester over on youtube has done a wonderful job of keeping this one going as well, along with the other one - the western that also has a number in the title that I won't mention - in case anyone is interested. The western doesn't even need a rollback; it just works! (in-game settings are tricky to access though) Fun Fact: The western in VR is my absolute favorite form of entertainment ever

No clue, I doubt most users have a Vision Pro :) Looks like someone got SteamVR games working by porting ALVR with the Vision Pro, so maybe try that route.

Right! --and hey, don't get me wrong - I do love the one Beardo's playing here as well - almost as much as the western. I was playing them both literally yesterday. Another fun fact: my experience with both of these games, thanks to Luke and Mick, have exclusively been in VR. I don't even know what either game is like in pancake. Over 200 hours logged into the western too

Same as you Stephen. I can't go back to flat since 2016. I was remembering when people were so mad Alyx was VR exclusive and were hoping for a flat mod.

Not gonna lie though, when I saw "ye olde virtual modde" I was CERTAIN that Luke had finally, at last, VR-modded Kingdom Come: Deliverance and I about shat my pants. .....by the way, PLEASE do that game!

It is really hard to go back to playing a game flat after you have been up close and inside that world in VR, as long as your system gave you a decent experience anyways. I tried playing CP flat with RT maxed out and everything and it just felt.... flat :)

I can get CP to look damn near photorealistic in flatscreen. It's actually just a LITTLE ugly - not to mention the slightest bit wonky - on my system in VR, with the specs set how I need them to be. But even then, I absolutely cannot and WILL NOT go back to playing that or any other of Luke's games in pancake. Like you said - I've been IN those worlds now. Luke, you've ruined me for flatscreening!

Has anyone encountered while revisiting ye olde modde, a kind of swimmingly double vision? It only happens with the menus and the start page. Weird issue I never came across before.

Thanks Brandon. I'm aware of the current situation, just thought other members might have encountered similar issues on revisiting the mod. I think it's an open xr issue. I'm on WMR platform. Samsung odyssey + I got it working in game just graphical glitches in menus and start menu.

Hello Everybody, i have just finished FarCry 4 and want to thank Luke for the VR immersion. It was ammazing. Today i put on my animal skin... just for feedback, The snipper rifle shake was to hard to control with my G2 (in flat mod it's more easy to use). Thanks to brandon too for it's help.

Yeah, it is just because you are so zoomed in in VR, that tiny head movements are more exaggerated. I don't think Luke will be able to separate just sniper scopes and make them not zoom in correctly. Thanks for the feedback and so glad you enjoyed the game :)

I'm still having an issue trying to get this to work with Cyberpunk 2077 GOG version. Looking through the RealVR logs I found 2 errors. Failed to apply "CP2077CreateDevice Patch" and Failed to to apply "CP2077Interact1 Patch". Any ideas what is causing this issue?

Thank you. I deleted everything, removed all my mods and reinstalled the game. It's launching in VR now, but damn it's shimmering like crazy. No idea why. Regardless of what resolution I use, it shimmers like crazy. Using 1/2 render with a 4090.

Try turning down the deblur sharpener in the main tab of the Real overlay. It defaults to max which can cause a lot of shimmering if you are using extra sharpening from Reshade or DLSS. Higher resolution and using DLSS Quality or DLAA will also help as they both have less offensive forms of antialiasing that doesn't conflict with AER as much. Really is too bad they didn't include other forms of AA for this game but it has quite a bit of aliasing without AA so it is also understandable. You are able to turn TAA off in the engine.ini file but although it is very clear there is a lot of aliasing. For some games like Far Cry no AA can work decently at high resolutions but not this game. The city just has a lot going on and lots of edges so looks pretty bad with no AA. You can try lowering your headset HZ to lower the fps requirement for 1/2 also if you need more headroom to increase resolution. Also try switching to 1/3 or Legacy, though Legacy will have motion jitter it has less overhead also because it is not generating extra frames. Its all about finding balance and if you like the smoothness of AER2 or the higher graphical fidelity of Legacy. There is also Mono mode but it is just the render from one eye so no Stereo 3d with it.

Running a fresh install of the game, extracted folder to the x64 folder, but when i try to run the bat file nothing happens, no errors, just doesn't run

Hmmm, try running as administrator. That is odd. Have you tried running any bat files before on your system?

I recently tried getting the GTA realconfig to work from videos on YouTube, specifically from our good friend Beardo Benjo and that config files runs fine, cmd prompt opens and I can select a preset. It just seems this one doesn’t want to run

That is really strange. Have you tried going back to 11.2 from 11.3? You are using 11.3 currently right?

Ok, so i downloaded 11.2, 11.1 and 11.0 all did the same thing just didnt run. Just to see if it was a my systems problem, i dragged the bat file from the GTA mod and it prompted me to overwrite the Realconfig.bat file as expected. When i ran that file it opened and asked me to press L, M, H, to which point i pressed H and it says "The system cannot find the path specified", again as expected as it was for the GTA mod but at least the file ran

With the DMCA, there will be no further updates as to not risk any further action and end up with GTA taken down from Github as well. Unfortunate but not worth the risk.

That is the plan :) The second game is much better in my opinion. It is unfortunate that you don't get any really good mounts until the Sunwing late in the game. Maybe someone will increase mount speed on PC though :)

Nothing wrong with that. I bought it off CD keys for about $50. Since I already played through the initial game, I am just speed running through to unlock everything. That way we have access to most everything for testing. I will probably stop once I have the Sunwing unlocked though so I can do the whole DLC in VR.

Nah, I want to make sure I have most everything unlocked for testing. That way we can be sure it works well. Luckily someone already put a save up on Nexus that is most of the way through the story so we can just use that :) I will probably still unlock the arena though and grab/upgrade some of the higher end stuff. I have already played through it, but it is such a good game. Going to be great in VR!

I don't know what to tell you. I spent more than 2-3 hours just trying to find a youtube video to help and nothing. I read your other comment and you are completely misinterpreting what I am saying. I insanely regret paying 10 dollars for this service andI am going to notify all of my friends to steer the hell away from this service. You can tell Luke that as well. Gamers owning their games or any rights to them is actually increasingly in jeopardy :( It is not cool at all. We should be able to own and mod games we buy freely. Multiplayer/online of course is different because of competition and cheating. You should be able to do what you want with your personal copy of a single player game though.

Unfortunately not currently. By the way, do you know if there is any particular solution for the Crystal and the HUD in games being transparent. It ends up being semi-transparent or kind of opaque..
