Unfortunately it's impossible to convey in a flat video the sense of grandeur that you get from playing an exquisitely beautiful game like Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree in VR. The epic size of everything, from giant monsters to castles, to mountains, to the Tree itself; the incredible feeling that the world around you is real.

Yet somehow Ian Higton manages to do just that. Please like and subscribe, if you haven't done that yet, because VR needs amazing communicators and evangelists like Ian in order to survive the indifference of the "mainstream".

By the way, this DLC has been criticized by some as being too difficult, with excessively tough bosses. It might be, although my personal opinion is that FromSoftware is perfectly entitled to make their games as hard as they please. After all, it's not like there's a shortage of spoon-feeding dumbed-down games out there :-)

But in case you want to take it easy, remember that my mod can also be used in tourist mode (as also showcased by Ian in the video) for harmless exploration, or with time slowed down, to rehearse and study the techniques needed to defeat the bosses... Or you can put it in first person, to dial both the immersion and the difficulty of combat up to 11!

Shadow Of The Erdtree VR Gameplay Is IMPOSSIBLY BEAUTIFUL OMG! Ian's VR Corner

Join Ian Higton for a quick spot of virtual tourism as he checks out the starting area of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree in VR using Luke Ross' REAL VR mod for Elden Ring! This episode of VR Corner features a lot of sight seeing and Ian gushing over how beautiful the Lands of Shadow are, so if you'd like to see a grown man get emotional about graphics, this is the place to be! Apologies for the slightly rough and ready episode this week - access to the mod came in late (like Friday morning) and Ian had to capture and edit this, plus do a site post AND go on a VG247 podcast all in one day. Lol thank f it's the weekend :D Luke Ross' REAL VR mod can be found here: https://www.patreon.com/realvr Become a Team Eurogamer member: https://youtube.com/eurogamer/join Subscribe to Eurogamer - http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=eurogamer For the latest video game reviews, news and analysis, check out http://www.eurogamer.net and don't forget to follow us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/eurogamer

Anybody else hopelessly sucked into the DLC :^) It's sooooo good. Especially in VR!

realvr

I'd guess everybody else, as no one is commenting []-D

Unless REAL will allow to VR in SotE with a mod like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMHseDZlj_4&t=146s, please continue focusing on making REAL compatible with games that are playable in first person. Titles like ER/SotE aren't exactly fitting for that category because of twitch skill requirement and complicated boss fights. Converting games originally released as mouse/keyboard/joystick exclusives may not attract as many people to VR as the games with First Person as an option. Just an MHO.

I wait until the dark times of the year to dive back in.

You can play in first person with the mod on this. Has a FP cam option.

Sucked in, but managed to jump out to eat...what day is it? Going back in!

About 50 runs at Rellana. Finally walked away with her twin blades. Exceptional VR experience. Loved that fight.

All the boss fights are pretty fun, except some of the small dungeon bosses, they are too easy. I am not far from finishing the DLC, I am just out trying to explore places I missed before I hit the point of no return :)

Does this update have any effect on Cyberpunk 2077? I am having a couple of issues. When I open the mod’s control panel, the mouse cursor only moves halfway up the screen. I can’t access the top half of the settings. When the map is open, I can’t see the left side of the screen, in order to filter what is active for waypoints. I play with a Xbox controller. Any ideas to fix these issues?

Brandon(Post Maester)

You can navigate the overlay entirely by controller. Hold x and use the bumpers to navigate tabs and use the dpad and a button to navigate the current tab you are on. The recent version for Elden Ring doesn't have any updates for CP. What do you mean you can't see the left side of the screen? You can't use the controller to navigate the map in your headset? I haven't tried CP after the Immersed update, I'll hop in later and see if that map works fine for me.

Mike Maiser

I can navigate the map. I can’t see the edge of the map interface where you filter which waypoints are showing up. The view of the sides of the map are cut off where I can’t see the edges of the map interface.

Brandon(Post Maester)

There should be an option to use the 2d screen in the overlay. You could do that if you need to change filters and then turn back off when done.

Please think about doing "Still Wakes the Deep" as one of your next games! Steam input API is supported if that makes it easier.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Well, of course you can have access to the VR mod :) Just download the latest version from this link https://www.patreon.com/posts/horizon-west-and-107402095 If you are having trouble getting it working, you will have to give me some information to work off of. First go and read the games release post for install instructions and make sure you drop the REAL mod files into the correct game folder, where the games .exe file is located. Make sure it is the correct .exe file as some games have more than one because they have a launcher, the correct one will have a much larger file size. For instance, Cyberpunk would be: D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64 Even though there is a .exe file in the main folder the actual one that launches the game is in the x64 folder. Then run the Realconfig.bat file and it should install the mod. If you get an error when you run the config file please let me know what it says. If it installs correctly and it just doesn't work for you when you run the game, please put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post the link to it here. The log file will be in the same game folder that you put the REAL files in. If you are having some other kind of issue, please explain in more detail.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You can also uncheck the headlock HUD option which will free up the map screen for you to look around and see everything.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Just use the newest version or the version on the Start Here post. The newest version should support every game, you don't need a separate file for each game, just the one.

For some reason when I open the quick menu with both thumbsticks I can't access certain areas of the menu with the mouse. It's as if access beyond a point is blocked. Anyone experienced this or have a fix? Thanks.
