I'm always working to expand compatibility across different headset models and brands, but it's become impossibly hard to even own most of the headsets available on the market, let alone thoroughly test the framework on each one of them.

So, in order to prioritize efforts, I'd really like to know what is your go-to headset for playing the games supported by R.E.A.L. VR. Don't list here all the headsets you own: just the one(s) that you are using with my software, or those that you would prefer to use if only they were compatible.

Example: if you own a Rift CV1, a Pico 4 and a Valve Index, and you're currently using the Valve Index to play with R.E.A.L. VR, but you would gladly use the Pico 4 if the streaming software was fixed to offer full compatibility for the new VFOV and HFOV optimizations (although you wouldn't choose to use the CV1 because you don't like it anymore), select the Index and Pico 4 options from the poll, but don't select the CV1.

Update: I can no longer edit the poll, but let's say that the "Pimax Crystal Light" entry also applies to other Pimax Crystal models, while other Pimax families like the 8K go in the subsequent entry.

That’s what I got after ditching PlayStation ,ps vr2 .And love it

Kojack Scrimshaw

The quest 3 really is great but I do love the PSVR 2 as well for its OLEDs

Paradigmfusion

I’ve used many. While the Valve Index was my go to for a long time. It took a crap and warranty was long passed. Sold it and bought a Quest 3. Now that is a hell of a headset. I did a side by side between it and the Quest pro. And the Q3 was just a much better headset IMHO. I wouldn’t mind giving that one from Bigscreen a go but it is super pricey.

La

I own a Quest 2 and use SteamVR for my headset but I want to upgrade to something more lightweight. I considered the Bigscreen Beyond, but I am looking forward to future VR headsets with more pixel density. Looking forward to something like that with a RTX 5090 for Cyberpunk!

Julian Mazzola

Quest3 or PSVR2 depending on the game.

Rustle

Holy sheet! Only the second voter on a Vive (Vive Pro 2, if it matters). Pleeze don't drop me! I'll never own a Meta anything, but am considering a Big Screen Beyond. Maybe.

Brandon(Post Maester)

The colors are just so much better! It is just too bad that they made other concessions in panel quality :(

Game Or Die

Been using VR since the DK2 in 2014. Quest 3 is my preferred one at the moment, due to Wireless VR. My Index has been gathering dust since the Quest 2 in 2020. Wireless VR is the only way I'll play VR at this point. I hope someone like Bigscreen can make their tiny headset have Wireless, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But Wireless beats out teathered every single time.

justaHeron

Yes, this is what I was waiting for. Really wanna play cyberpunk in good fps on PSVR2. Use quest 3 only for beatsaber anymore, lol.

Alex

Only the best, Bigscreen Beyond with those oled screens woo!

Arthur Pelio

Can’t wait for Pimax Crystal Super

Michael Dewlen

Pimax Crystal - clicked on Light....

g_geezer

I’m using Sony’s VR2, how do I unlock the 80fps lock that is set, so I can run the native 90 or 120 ???

Alex

I love my Beyond, it will change your life

markla

Pimax Crystal, the other is a Valve Index..., which should go back to ebay, thankyou Valve, and many thanks to you Luke.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You can use OpenXR from the runtime dropdown in the REAL overlay and use the Hfov optimization for the PSVR2 it is a pretty sizeable performance increase.

Durango66

I was on the original Oculus Story Studio team and my first HMD was the Oculus DevKit 1 - I'm really liking the PSVR2 now!

the FazZ project

I personal avoid ALL things Meta and for obvious reasons 🗑️ Until Index v2, i will continue with the original Index, purely because it is so well supported (software and hardware, repairs, etc) and Valve have been for the last 21+ years supportive of privacy, as well as the freedom to play whatever you want without censorship, and of course all the other greatness that makes Steam what it is today 😻

OneUp03

VRto3D works relatively well even though it's not officially supported yet. Just needs an optional pitch control toggle to be perfect.

Steve Bobowski

I bought a varjo aero specifically for Luke's mods because of the high rez , aspheric lenses, openxr support although I do love to take my Q3 down to the local football/soccer fields and play fullscale vr but would never use the q3 for Luke's mods due to performance and compression artifacts

Eric D.

CV1 for heavy titles like Cyberpunk, Quest 3 or PSVR2 for lighter titles like FFVII depending on whether I want to be corded/if I want OLED or not for darker titles

Tomi zos

Hi Luke, would it be possible to create a mod for witcher 3? This game fully deserves to be played in VR if possible....

Rzr Razrfish

I assume by Pimax Crystal Light - can also identify the Pimax Crystal?

Marc Reis

Normal Pimax Crystal as "other" Pimax

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is not as sharp as the Quest 3 and the pancake lenses are so much better. PSVR2 has a small sweet spot and you have to position it just right. The colors and contrast are amazing, but they dropped the ball on things like using a PenTile subpixel arrangement, so the image quality looks softer/blurrier overall. If you can push the PPD up to like 30 it still looks pretty good in Cyberpunk :) I think most Quest 3 users probably use it for other things outside PCVR as well, so it also wins in that department. I think the PSVR2 is still a pretty decent option though!

Beau Bryant

Waiting for the Pimax Crystal Super to be released and that'll be my go to.

RANDLE COOK

DItto for using Pimax Crystal but selected Crystal Light. Also looking forward to the Crystal Super.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Absolutely loving the Aero with Luke's mods now :) I will happily wait for a comparable headset with OLED display and similar or smaller form factor. We are too far into the evolution of VR headsets to put up with big clunky ones.

Steve Bobowski

We just easily need to intrest Elon in vr then he'll invent a vr panel that's a contact lens....coupled with that brain chip of his.....sign me up lol

Arthur Pelio

Does anyone know if the the Star Wars VR mod will work on Avatar Frontiers of Pandora (since it’s the same game engine)?

Maciej Dabrowski

Anyone got best settings for cyberpunk with 4080 super ?

Lou Sytsma

PSVR 2 for everything.

Pauli Laatikainen

I thought the auto mode already picked that OpenXR already by default for PSVR2, or am I mistaken?

Cercata

I'm really happy with Quest 3 ... my only issue is MSFS doesn't work well with Link, they do weird things with CPU, and they starve the oculus streaming software.

VeXii

the headset i own

Brandon(Post Maester)

Each game has to be modded individually. Even if they use the same engine.

Arthur Pelio

Any plans on adding Avatar support?

Jose Torres

We need dead space remake!!!

Rzr Razrfish

Should maybe put Pimax Crystal Light, as he's trying to identify heirarchy of HMD's, and doing for the Crystal, is doing for the Crystal Light. I too wish he put Crystal, because if he's doing anything that leverages Eye Tracking and Foviated Rendering, it's the Pimax Crystal that takes advantage of it.

OnairO2

Gotta admit, I'm surprised the PSVR2 is already in the 2nd spot

Rzr Razrfish

Varjo Aero stupid expensive now that they stopped producing it. I was going to pull the trigger on it (New for $900 HMD only) almost a year ago just before I decided on the Pimax Crystal.

Manny64

Didn’t expect so many PSVR2 users lol

Lukasz Wereszko

Sold my index, bought 2 Quest3 and had money left over. Pretty much better in every way. Battery pack, rechargeable controllers, better lenses, wireless (even for pCVR you have VD). Only downside? Not enough quality games

Max S

Aero is it, good Aero without much mura is perfect since the optical CA fix dropped.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I am surprised as well. They did have that sale though, so kinda makes sense.

Corwin Lindeman

The quest 2 and 3 are really really really good for PC vr!

Corwin Lindeman

Cap FPS at 72 in Headset. Use DLSS quality at 90 on the slider. Maybe do 1 below max resolution. Max resolution is like 3920X3920. Put everything else on high or medium. No ray tracing.

Maciej Dabrowski

Please 🙏I’m back to pc after 15 years, lots of fun but I’m not sure about my settings 🤨

Jopa Sruchkoi

PS VR2 is amazing, and now with PC connector it's just an ultimate VR headset. The OLED screen quality, lightweight, controllers, easy PC setup (no stupid third party trash like Oculus/Meta that always is trying to fight with SteamVR - you just install PSVR2 from Steam, and it works via SteamVR)

chtiblue

Luke Ross mods are looking awesome on 3D display LG 4k 3D 55'' with VRto3D, we just need an optional pitch control (or like in UEVR called Aim Method ''game'' type) to be perfect ;)

Rich

The sale helped but it was the PSVR Adapter ... My PSVR2 was sitting with dust for 6 months.. Now it has a new lease on life and VR has never looked so good IMO with Blacks and Colors.. Made me set my Quest 3 to the side for PCVR

Brandon(Post Maester)

Of course, the adapter is a given. I just meant the sale happened like right before the adapter came out and people probably jumped on it for PCVR ;)

Dark Locket

wow, good to see people providing feedback on their headsets. For me, I am using Samsung HMD Odyssey+ WMR purchased new from 2019. Its still kicking and can play all new VR games on Steam store and non-vr classics like Doom, Hexen, Heretic. Other games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry, Borderlands, No One lives for Ever 2, Alien Isolation, Dirt. 10,727.9 hours and still going in VR Thank You Luke Ross for making so many worlds be immersive!!!

Marco

That opinion about oculus is out of date. When Steam started supporting OpenXR and the oculus runtime, all those problems went away. Glad you found a headset that suits you, but I love my QuestPro so back off! :)

Steve Bobowski

Yeah, they really know what they have with the build quality and software. Eventhough I paid 2k for mine when it dropped, I have no regrets.

BeastSaber

Does the Crystal count as Crystal Light? Or other?

ronnie gentry

Lets go team PSVR2!! Love your mods! Thanks for all you do for the community!

Dog

mine is looking really grainy, and ray tracing made it look like an oil paint. I still haven't found the best settings :(

preston maloney

I use the pimax crystal light. And I've had to use the open xr setting rather then the standard in order to get cyberpunk to load. Version 14. Trying a fresh install next to see if any of my other mods where getting in the way

andre surles

Anyone want to buy my Quest 3? Prefer the PSVR2

Darren Cook

No big fan of Zuck or FB, but as a converted Vive / Index failthful, I must say that the Quest 3 strikes me as the most versatile VR and all-around best value at the moment.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Counts as Crystal Light for the poll. He put an update comment in there :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

I bought mine off Ebay (some risk of course) but I got it, plus 2 lighthouses for 1k.

positron design

I really like my WMR HP Reverb v2. I know they discontinued it right after I bought it cheap, on sale from HP. Bottom line is the specs are great (2160x2160 per eye @90FPS) and it works well ATM. I plan to upgrade my GPU for better picture quality at VR resolutions.

MatLePirat

Is it really better ? I dont know if i should buy a PSVR 2 after my Q2. Can you give me your feeling about it please ? 🙏

Steve Bobowski

Score! I heard of some crackhead deals in my time but sheesh!

Steve B

CP2077 on Vive Pro 2 with a 4090 is stunning with the latest update

Brandon(Post Maester)

G2 is a solid headset 🤓 Too bad the software did not get worked on or updated much at all. Would have loved to see a G3 with better quality controll.

alfaushh

Okay... 7 Days I get no Help... I let it know my Community on Twitch an Youtube... Thanks!

Darren Stoller

Please don't just concentrate on the quest 3 Luke, the crystal light has so much potential.

martin mcclsokey

im trying starwars outlaws with auto (recommended) but vr in pimax crystal wont run unless i use xr but loads of graphic issues,,,how u get urs working m8?

andre surles

Depends, I mostly play racing and modded games and not a lot of standing games and no non pc games. I had the quest 1 and the 3 and personally never found them comfortable at all. The lenses on the 3 are super sharp for sure but the light blocking sucks and the face interface just hurts imo. LCD black levels are very noticeable too.

andre surles

The PSVR 2 is much more comfortable and I prefer the colors and blacks. Zero light enters the headset and it works on PS5.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I doubt he will only focus on the most popular headset but of course prioritizing ones that are used far more than others makes sense where necessary. It could even end up being beneficial for Pimax headsets because they can use Oculus compatibility mode with his mods 🤷‍♂️

preston maloney

Same. And I was also noticing lots of issues. Ghosting, blurred edges, blurring near npcs, totally picture degradation whenever I move my head. I'm assuming it's just what you get when running through the open xr version, though it could be compatibility issues with pimax in general. I'll probably try a few more times, then move on if I can't get it in a playable state. Hopefully Luke will get it worked out as he has time. This poll was a good idea

Brandon(Post Maester)

Me too, that is why I got an Aero. Love it. Still gotta do what makes the most sense. This poll is not an effort to ditch support for certain headsets. It is just to help prioritize things when necessary. Like I am about to do a bunch of testing across all the supported titles, so it is important to know what headsets I should focus my testing on. I will still test on my Aero even though it is in the bottom 1% but will focus the majority of my testing time on Quest 3 and PSVR2. I don't have a Pimax anything or I would give it a bit of time also. Luke can only work on things from his side as well. Pimax was not very helpful in the past although a couple users said they would like to work on support. We have lives, so time is limited, and prioritizing makes sense. Just no way around that.

Goooost

Im just completely done with meta. The reverbg2 is famtastic (modded) and pimax will be my next probably if the reverb breaks

Brandon(Post Maester)

What did you need help with? I vaguely remember asking you for details or something recently and don't remember getting a reply. Glad to help, but do need to know what I am trying to help with :)

Darren Stoller

The quest 3 is great value for money but the Aero/crystal light is so much better. Anyway Luke, so don't forget the small guy mate.

Neil

Been watching this forum patiently for several weeks now, just for any news on the CyberPunk 2077 mod working with with the latest version of CP on steam. Does anyone know for sure if its coming or is CP no longer going to get worked on? I know that downgrading CP is the workaround, but apparently that isn't an option through steam. It seems like Luke never responds directly here but in case he's reading this: as soon as you make your CP mod work with the latest version of CP and SteamVR/Pimax you'll get my money, but I for one am holding off until then.

Tomo

Quest 3 with link cable and 4090

Chocolate Cream

The thing is, on this entire list, Pimax Crystal is the only one with near 35 ppd and clarity level that none of the other heads comes close. 22-25 ppd at best.

Chocolate Cream

Apple Vision Pro is mixed AR not even full VR

Brandon(Post Maester)

Version 14 works with the latest CP update. Read the post, it has info on new fov optimizations as well.

XERXES

The support for VFOV and HFOV mods needs to be added to Virtual Desktop IMHO. Quest/Air Link just sucks so bad. I'll try to get in touch with Guy Godin, let's hope he's cool with adding support for that.

Dark Locket

is this like putting on 3d glasses at a movie theater? or better? I cant image the experience is full immersion compared to a VR headset. But its a leap forward with being able to make a display at least have depth in the view that a screen does provide.

Sipu

Just get a better face interface like amvr

Gamer Couple

I've heard Crystal Light is basically the G3. One is coming soon, I'll try to remember to give thoughts

Sebastatu

Even though, I have a Steam Index, and an Oculus Rift S. I much rather play these games with Luke's Ross Real VR Mod on my LG 4k 3D TV. The quality is second to none. Just wished the controllers were the default game controllers.

Steven Smith

I prefer the best, so I'm going with Pimax Crystal.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Aero, Big Screen Beyond are not that far off in terms of clarity and resolution. Each have pros and cons. There is no clear winner in terms of the best VR headset, they all pretty much have compromises at this point.

Lukuos Dray

I don't have a headset or own one. Plus, I don't know what to look for or what I want in a headset. Yeah, you could say I'm a Noob or Newbie, and you'd be right.

Brandon(Post Maester)

There is no real clear cut best ¯\(°_o)/¯

preston maloney

"Oculus/Meta native runtime (Auto or Oculus in the "VR renderer" dropdown menu in the main overlay tab of the mod): With a Meta headset, everything works correctly as long as you're using the headset wired, with a video cable for older models and with the Link cable for the Quest (recommended for maximum quality and stability), or if you're using Air Link. Do not use Virtual Desktop for the moment, as it doesn't yet support the FOV optimizations and will give you warped and possibly doubled images. With a Pimax headset, using Oculus emulation mode should be working as intended. You'll be able to enable the FOV optimizations (which are super useful especially for the huge and canted displays of some Pimax models), but don't turn on the eye texture mipmaps because that'll lead to some mesmerizing kaleidoscopic effects at the edge of your view.«

preston maloney

"Also don't use it with Pimax headsets. It often crashes when the mod fires up VR, and it leads to sluggishness in the headset tracking. Oculus emulation is the way to go for Pimax headsets (you'll need to have the Meta software installed, but it shouldn't be necessary to associate it to a Meta account)."

fxxd

Quest 2 atm - Upgrading soon to either Quest 3 or Pimax Crystal Light (or maybe even both...?). Still wishing for Mod Support of Driving Games like FH4, FH5, TC2, TC3 and TDUSC.

Slumpy

Wish there was free aim support for 3D monitors.

WallahGa

HTC XR Elite

Marc Reis

Yeah that's why I commented, I had the same thoughts! I just noticed I can select multiple, since I have 5k and 8K pimax HMDs I selected the light and the other pimax category now, in such Wide FOV and the Crystal tech representative, I hope.

Skidrow

If you do support for Steam you support every headset

MetaLan TNFF

I use Pico 4, but Steam VR is enough for me.

Chocolate Cream

Ok let’s get to specifics then: Bigscreen ppd is 32 peak at 34. Aero is 35. Pimax Crystal is 42. It doesn’t matter resolution what matters for clarity is pixels per degree. Especially if you want to see people’s eyes clearly and super real clothing texture.

Chocolate Cream

Peak to peak the bigscreen and Aero have nothing on Pimax Crystal

Lukuos Dray

I don't have that either.

Polysix

PSVR2 all day every day. Have owned 8 HMDs going back to rift DK2, through vive, and had Quest 2 and Pro (hate LCD). PSVR2 is awesome on PS5 and extremely cool on PC with the adapater. OLED is everything in VR. It's why I kept my old rift CV1 for so long while everything moved to LCD for a while (still got the CV1 in the attic ;) ).

Brandon(Post Maester)

How do you use the mod? ヽ(。◕o◕。)ノ.

Eviltek2099

Nothing beats the Bigscreen Beyond!!!!

Polysix

LCD is never 'best', it's barely VR.

Leigh Butler

100% I have the quest 3 and I prefer my psvr2. Colours are just amazing versus the quest 3. Thankfully the mura never bothered me (dont notice it) and never had an issue with the sweet spot. Other people have, so that is going to influence the enjoyment of the psvr2.

Cyril Preiss

Apple Vision Pro is stunning ! i have tried Bigscreen and crystal before

Martin PTACNIK

I am waiting forward to the release of: Pimax 12K QLED and the Pimax Crystal Super versions. :-)

geo_gan

I hope you don't mind, but I posted a screenshot of current poll to PicoXR subreddit and Virtual Desktop Pico section to try and advertise it to more Pico users to see if there is actually more using it than the very low numbers we see here now!

johnglad

I have a Quest2 and CV1 and DK2 but I definitely prefer to play your mods on my LG 3D TV with the VRto3D Mod. It ist just way more comfortable and would be even more If the vertical controls could be better like explained by oneup3 and then you can also crank up the visuals as you dont need 90 FPS in a TV.

1pico Tekken

I use Pico 3 Link with DP for your mod if I had money I would use the pimax Crystal light

1pico Tekken

If I were you I would focus on the cheaper and best selling PC VR headsets such as PSVR2 Quest 2-3 and Pico

Jeremy Wright

Quest 2 using Virtual desktop with either the VR air bridge or meta USB-C cable is the best for pc gaming on this headset. The quest link app is glitchy.

Brandon(Post Maester)

From the reviews I have watched, like VR flight sim guy, MRTV, Beardo Benjo and a number of others, it is not a night and day difference, and they generally don't recommend upgrading from something like Big Screen or Aero to the Crystal or Crystal Light outright. Some people actually end up not using it because of Quality control and software issues. Compatibility and the software/setup can be a frustration with Pimax. Plus, it is big and bulky. The Aero, Big Screen or Pimax Crystal can all be solid choices, it just depends on what you want and what you want to do with your headset. If you just tell people that the Crystal is the best and other headsets have nothing on it, you are actually doing them a potential disservice. There are quite a few important factors and after owning 7-8 headsets none of them have been perfect and without any issues at all. Objectivity and sharing both the positive and negatives of a product are helpful and important. I am really glad you enjoy your headset, that is what matters at the end of the day :)

JNijst

I did not know so many headsets existed. You can guess the distribution pretty close in the real world (VR lovers) from the list here...

Lukuos Dray

I don't. I have public membership. Because I make poor choices with my money.

alfaushh

I wrote a direct message to Luke. And I had also replied before. But everything gets lost here quickly. The game status is not recognized and it keeps repeating that I never started the game.

Billy Bloggs

I held onto my quest 1 for its OLED for a very long time. But that edge to edge clarity in the pancake lenses of the quest 3 is a game changer.

Billy Bloggs

Yeah, I put up with the warped menus and use VFOV with VD. It's just so much smoother than link cable, no matter how much I tweak things.

Brandon(Post Maester)

So you have dragged all the files from version 14 of the REAL folder into the x64 folder, run the config file and it says the game hasn't been run yet? Just making sure. It is specifically looking for the Usersettings.json file that the game creates when you run it the first time flat. You can check to make sure it has been created at your equivalent of C:\Users\brand\AppData\Local\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077 What platform are you running the game on? Steam? GOG?

Billy Bloggs

So interesting to read all the comments. I think it highlights the fact that no one company has nailed the "perfect headset", after almost a decade of consumer grade VR. Every choice is still a compromise in some way. Gimme OLED. Displayport, pancake lenses, big FOV/res, in a slim form factor, all at a decent price point and you'd sell a truckload I suspect.

Luke

1125 v 103 says it all...

Darren Stoller

Just means one's more affordable than the others and certainly not as good

Brandon(Post Maester)

I think the big FOV is actually one of the issues :) Trying to go for a larger FOV and higher resolution together makes it hard to really push the headset performance wise. I actually don't mind the FOV of the Aero and it makes it easier to really push the headset to its full potential. Quest 3 FOV is plenty good, Pimax can run into issues when they really try to push FOV and then it just degrades the overall image quality and performance. I'd rather have higher ppd and OLED display with decent FOV rather than trying to keep pushing the FOV envelope further. DisplayPort is of course better for PCVR :) We'll have to see what is around the corner in 2025.

Brandon(Post Maester)

😂 well, thanks for the support! Hopefully you can make some better choices with your money and actually get a headset at some point.

Lukuos Dray

Thanks for your kind words, Bud. And you're welcome for the support.

Polysix

I had those lenses (even better in fact) on my Quest Pro, yeah it's nice but it also had a ton of pancake glare (vs minimal god rays on PSVR2). The FOV on PSVR2 is bigger than QPro/3 so the slightly better clarity to the edge on Pro was offset by the bigger FOV on PSVR2 which removes the typical 'blurred edges' outside of my natural FOV anyway. Simply, PSVR2 feels *natural*, even with fresnel, as it's almost pin sharp once in the sweet spot and the depth of image, the stunning black levels (QPros local dimming was a joke by comparison) actually feels 'clearer' overall due to the immersion. You just need to turn your head a LITTLE more than on quest p/3, which is more than fine, doesn't feel weird. The edge to edge clarity on the Q-pancakes, while good, didn't do much for overall immersion nor did I particularly NEED that because it was often in my peripheral and naturally blurred out by my brain anyway (I'd still turned my head in QPro plenty as that's the point like in reality you don't just sit there swivelling your eyes to their extremes *just because you can*. And all that aside, it's a simple fact I can NOT ABIDE LCD IN VR, it removes the immersion, not just in dark games, everything feels flat and fake due to colour gamut vs OLED (esp HDR on PS5), but also the woeful binocular overlap on Quest ruins immersion. Add up the OLED, Bigger FOV, Better B.O AND direct display port connection... it's an easy win for proper immersive VR that makes you feel IN the world rather than just looking at it via LCD. Again, super minimal godrays on PSVR2 (vs all my old fresnels) and WAY more pancake glare on Qpancakes which also removes clarity.

1. My preferred headset Big screen beyond I use the most, it has an OLED screen easy on the eyes The second quest 3, It has an OLED screen easy on the eyes The third Vive focus 3, great headset they need to change the lens.

CaptainLocBeard

that might get me back into the game without having BST or at least a full BLU

Mack Jeong

I'm using VRto3D Mod on Predator SpatialLabs View 27

Chocolate Cream

Except I didn’t say crystal is the best so not sure why you putting words in my mouth and twisting what I said. It’s #1 for clarity so if you want to see a girl’s eyes in an 8k adult video or if clarity matters to you that’s the one to use. All the other resolution focused headsets are a dime in a dozen though but it seems you are big time biased here on trying to literally make things up about what I said to shit on Pimax. It’s got a lot of downsides too but you are acting like a joke talking the way you do.

Gothboy Kurt

is it just me or has my VR been stuttering like sh*t ever since this 2.13 update?

Lagarde

For the 100 people playing with a pico headset, did someone manage to be able to play cyberpunk 2077 ? I'm not able to pass the first cdpr logo before steam vr crashes. If someone has any clue it could help me a lot ! thanks

Big Kek

Quest Pro comfortable enough for prolonged use? Do you use any 3rd party accessories? What about controllers dying? I suppose not a big deal for modded games!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Seems like mixed results but I have seen(read) people get it working. Make sure you don't have frame gen on, if you have an AMD card, it seems to default to on. If you are using VD, I am not sure if it is better to set VDXR (streamer app) and use OpenXR from the runtime dropdown in the REAL overlay or if it is better to set SteamVR in the streamer app and OpenXR in the runtime dropdown. For the Pico streaming software, I think just setting your runtime to SteamVR in the Steam software and choosing OpenXR from the REAL dropdown should work. VD may have issues with Pico right now but I am not sure. Of course, make sure you are using version 14 of the mod with the fix for the CP update :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Dog Town has always had some fps drops for me. I don't have any issues in Night City though. Version 14 should work with CP 2.12 if you want to roll back. Have you tried any type of performance overlay to see where the issue may be?

Gothboy Kurt

I do notice a discord overlay that I never seen before, ima test and see if it’s that. Before the update I was running it on 120 hz with ray tracing and 0 drops but it stutters like every 5 seconds now

alfaushh

The game is SOW. My settings are different. It runs via Ubisoft. I find the most games in this path: D:\Users\rreimer.V6\AppData\Roaming The path with Qutlaw can be found in D:\Users\rreimer\Documents\My Games\Outlaws I installed the game in the following path: D:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Star Wars Outlaws

Gothboy Kurt

it might've been the driver update

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yup, best to close out any extra stuff you can to get it out of the way when troubleshooting or having issues :)

STARXGAMEDESIGN

I'd love to try one. I'm loving the mq3 though

Pauli Laatikainen

Is anyone else playing Cyberpunk 2077 encountering an issue where using quickhack too much causes the game to crash with "Attach debugger or press ok" dialogue appearing on top before the game flatlines? I've been having this for a while now and it's kinda distracting.

My Oculus Rift, and Oculus Rift S are the only HMD's I have ;)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can you please put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post a link to it here after you have it happen? Thanks. It happened once to me but I couldn't reproduce it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, I just assumed Cyberpunk, sorry. I am assuming you have already run the game and the graphics settings.cfg file is there? You didn't set the graphics config file to read only or anything like that? That seems really odd since that is what it is looking for. Maybe try deleting the graphics settings.cfg file there and running the game so it generates the file again.

Pauli Laatikainen

Hi, I had already sent a private message earlier, but here's the pastebins related. So the first pastebin is the CP2077 stacktrace, and second is the cropped RealVR64.log file. https://pastebin.com/HazU6FqS RealVR64.log is too big to paste to pastebin as it's 117MB for reason it's saying: 10:49:50:634 [29656] | DEBUG | WARNING: Discarded frame #61729 in buffer [R]0 (expected at least #61731) 10:49:50:634 [29656] | DEBUG | WARNING: Discarded frame #61725 in buffer [R]1 (expected at least #61731) 10:49:50:635 [29656] | DEBUG | WARNING: Discarded frame #61727 in buffer [R]2 (expected at least #61731) over majority of its 1135940 lines. Here's the pastebin for the rest of the log (cropped): https://pastebin.com/m0bTzCBA

Brandon(Post Maester)

Thanks, it looks like your GPU just crashes though before that so I'll have to try quick hacking too much to see if I can force it to happen and then hopefully Luke will be able to repro on his side.

emmanuel sancho

Me too, not 100% sure of this but I think it might have something to do with VFOV when just having HFOV enabled, I think my game doesn't crash.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Pauli, can you try turning off the VFOV and see if that makes a difference? Also, do you have a save file for a spot that it seems to happen reliably? I did a mission where I hacked a bunch of mines and turrets, and I didn't get any crashes or issues. I am using both fov fixes.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Emmanual, are you also using GOG? Can you also put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post a link here after you get a crash? Make sure you disable the GOG Galaxy overlay if using GOG, that is probably not causing the crash but just in case you haven't.

Pauli Laatikainen

For me on PSVR2 I only have the HFOV, VFOV is disabled. I'll check the gog overlay, should be off, but might be wrong. I'll try to see if I can reproduce it more reliably once kids fall asleep.

Pauli Laatikainen

EDIT: Nevermind, easiest way is to just walk next to nearest wall, turn on quick hack and try to push your head through. Instant crash. You probably don't even need the save. --------- For the long version ---------- Ok, so this is the save where it's happening to me. I was fooling around, swinging the targeting reticle around, jumped to a camera and was checking out the one guy inside the building, short-circuited him, and rebooted optics, then while using quickhack view I turned right towards the boxes while trying to look up a bit to see the green items up on the wall (while quick hack on) and then it crashed. I spent around 5 minutes in the game fooling around, shot one of the cameras too outside, did a ping, and distract people with a distant junk car. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/5117ucexnpx7tav9jfufv/QuickHackCrashCP2077.zip?rlkey=asaax1kqj7ye88pzyelq10xhf&st=2qm6wq0z&dl=0 Second time I managed to crash it really quick, few quickhacks, then jump to camera, turn towards the right so the camera is looking into the beam, and then turning my head around crashed it. It seems to have something to do with maybe raycasting through the beam? Third time, I just jumped on the boxes on the right, took camera control, went to the next camera by pressing right on D-Pad, then turned the camera around till it was looking inside the beam, then I moved my head in and out the beam I think tapping on the quick hack without hacking anything further and it crashed under a minute. Ok, fourth and fifth try in the save. Control hack camera, switch the catwalk camera (next to right from outside camera), then use gamepad to turn towards the beam, enable quickhack, lean forward if it doesn't crash right away. That's the most surefire way for me to crash it. If you're looking through already it might not crash, but if you move over the polygon threshold it seems to not like it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Currently getting ready for my daughters bday party but I will check it out in a while. Thanks :P

Pauli Laatikainen

Hey, no worries. Kids always take priority. Happy birthday to the kiddo! And thanks.

Josh

I use the Vive Pro 2 with the wireless adapter. Since it's a wireless HMD and it works seamlessly with the godly, utterly game-changing Index controllers, it's the best combination of hardware currently available. I can't help but be dismayed that so many people use the shitty oculus hardware, but it's the cheapest crap on the market, so it makes sense. I've got a Quest 2 for watching movies on planes, and basically no other reason.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Quest 3 is a pretty decent headset actually. I don't use mine for PCVR as I would much rather use my Aero but it is a really good value and overall headset if you want to do standalone MR and PCVR altogether. But yeah, affordability matters as well. Expensive setups will not get a lot of people into VR to make it grow. I am not a big fan of how things went standalone, and it is almost like they hit the reset button on VR for enthusiasts, but I can't say it doesn't make sense at the end of the day either. Plus PC hardware is a lot more expensive than it used to be now. I mean, I have 4090 etc but I don't think it is fair for me to expect most people to have that kind of setup. Hopefully people can find some good deals on high end 30 series and 40 series cards after the 50 series drops and that will lower the cost of getting a really good experience with mods like this. We all see the world through different eyes. There are probably lots of people that would be overjoyed to have something like a Quest 3. The most important thing is that people are getting into VR and enjoying it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

OK, so what exactly do you mean by quick hack??? Are you taking over a camera and then trying to look through the wall? There are a number of ways you can interact with things while using the scanner and they are all quick hacks. I just tried using the scanner and putting my head through a wall and no crash. Does it only happen when you take over a camera? What do you mean by "turn on quick hack"? I'll try out the save and see if I can crash while taking over the camera. Edit: Couldn't get a crash with the save file but I recognize the area. That was the same place I was finally able to get Luke to have the DLSS crashes, so I think this is probably one of the few areas in the game that a crash is more likely, along with the mech battle at the beginning of the DLC. I took over a camera and switched to others, rotated round and round, did quick hacks repeatedly but could not get a crash. It looked like you have other mods installed so I am wondering if they are causing an issue. I am also using an Aero, so I will switch over to PSVR2 to see if that makes any difference. Edit2: No dice on the PSVR2 as well. DLSS on and off, 50fps so I am struggling with performance a bit and still no crash. I can stick my head through the wall in the save with the scanner on and look around in the next room. Hack away while taking over a camera or running around. I would leave that area and try seeing if the same behavior gets you to crash in another location. If so, I am afraid you will need to do a clean install without other mods to make sure they are not causing it somehow :( I suppose it could be an AMD thing..... but no way to know for sure as neither Luke nor I have an AMD card. Nothing in the log file points to that though.

Pauli Laatikainen

Yeah, so I take over a camera and move to a place where I can push my head through. If I do that while having the scanner mode on it crashes. I suppose having an option to switch to flat when using scanner might circumvent. It might be an AMD thing, but I'll keep trying various things and see if anything else might affect it. Thanks, and sorry for the trouble!

Brandon(Post Maester)

There should be an option to switch to the 2d window in the CP tab of the overlay. that sounds really annoying though since you will use the scanner somewhat frequently at times. You could try seeing if you still get crashes in Mono rendering mode also.

I guess I have to do it by hand myself, what a shit

geo_gan

Worked 100% fine for me using Pico 4 and Virtual Desktop on 4080 machine - was even able top enable path-tracing to see great light effects in some scenes I set up using third party mods.

geo_gan

You miss the technical issues in your wishlist of course - OLED is very dim display tech - pancake lenses block something like 80% of light produced by displays - so even with way brighter LED-LCD type panels used by most headsets the displays through pancake don't look too bright... if you used OLED then they would be like 20% brightness you see now in pancake.

alfaushh

I found the error. Clearly my mistake! But what is it? Only cinema mode, which is disappointing, I already had that on Steam. The shaking can't be turned off completely either.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, lenses matter as well, and I guess we didn't' really mention them :) I don't really notice the PSVR2 being too dark at all, I find the brightness level just fine. I like the Aspheric lenses on my Aero quite well.

Jamaicanator27

Is realVR working on Patch 2.13 of cyberpunk?

Billy Bloggs

Yeah, I held onto my quest for many years because I didn't want to lose those OLED blacks. Black blacks make a big difference in VR. But I also love edge to edge clarity and probably wouldn't go Fresnel again by choice. Didn't know about pancake lenses blocking so much light...still we can hope...!

Ahmed Ibrahim

I am dying for a Call of Duty Vanguard or Call of Duty WWI in VR, is that series on Luke's Radar for an eventual release or no?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I sincerely doubt it ಠಿ_ಠ Doesn't seem like it is up alley at all. Not something people have asked for much at all either.

The2ndlove

Trying to play Cyberpunk 2077 with PSVR2 PC and Lukes mod and it just keeps crashing. 2080Ti, i7-8700, latest MOD version, vrperfkit, and config overhaul any advice would be appreciated

Brandon(Post Maester)

A couple people have had success with going in and deleting the settings file in the appdata/local/cdprojekt folder but make sure you are using version 14 of the mod and have run the config file if you are replacing a previous version of the mod. I have used a PSVR2 just fine with version 14 on Cyberpunk, make sure you have set SteamVR as your OpenXR runtime in the SteamVR settings and then select OpenXR from the runtime dropdown in the REAL overlay if you are able to bring it up before it crashes.

The2ndlove

Thanks just gonna start fresh and give it a shot

Tomo

make it 2. I asked for it lol ! would be awesome one of such games

Lagarde

Did you tried it with streaming assistant ?

S

I'm having trouble running the cyberpunk mod. I have hand tracking working and all but It's not fully VR It's Boarder Screened and unplayable like this. Running windows 11. Been trying to trouble shoot for a bit if anyone can help would be great

BWiK

I have had these crashes as well that say the "attach a debugger or press ok to continue" as well as normal crashes, it seems to happen when a lot of physics occur, after looting then dashing, and during the fight with the chimera. I am using psvr2 with 4070tiS and 12400f. Any ideas?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you are using version 14 of REAL. What headset are you using and how is it connected if not DisplayPort? Motion controllers don't work, just mouse/keyboard or gamepad only. Gamepad highly recommended as mouse will have issues sometimes.

Brandon(Post Maester)

2 is considered not much, I think there may have been a couple more people that asked for it also. In comparison to something like God of War or AFOP and some other games, 4 requests are still "not much" 🤪 Honestly, I just don't think shooters like that are something Luke would enjoy modding at all. Ya never know though. Plus, there is a good chance that multiplayer wouldn't work because of anti-cheat or getting banned online for using mods. Multiplayer is really the core of those games, so kind of defeats the purpose I think. There are a number of shooters like that for Native VR also.....

Brandon(Post Maester)

The chimera fight is just considered an area where you will have to play flat. You can disable the mod by renaming dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll. The rest of the DLC should play fine, that area will just crash for most people though unfortunately. It will not crash for Luke though no matter what he has tried, go figure :) The debugger window doesn't really mean anything other than the game crashed. Luke just forgot to remove it for users. So, it doesn't point to anything specific at all.

Ahmed Ibrahim

Come on Brandon, you really don't wanna be in the shoes of Soldier in D day or Omaha Beach with that fantastic graphics of COD. It isn't about the shooting, it is about the vibe of being actually there with the terrific sound effects and animations. Even medal of honor above and beyond VR makes you feel you are an arcade not a real graphics. We are not interested in the multiplayer mod just the story mod is more than enough. Personal opinion, just one title of COD would be enough to satisfy people like the 4 ( 4 million of us) hahahaha

Brandon(Post Maester)

I hear you; I was addicted to COD for years back in the earlier days. I remember playing world at war all freakin day ;) I don't have any real final say in what gets modded at all. If I did, Dark Souls 3 would be at the top of that list :) I am occasionally something of a sounding board, so if COD comes up, I'll make sure to say something like.... "Boy, that would sure be neat!" 😉

Ahmed Ibrahim

Yup, that's our post Maester. Thanks bud. Problem is there aren't any games that are super realistic like COD WWII or Vanguard for wars in VR. I heard some on Vorpx but it is literally cinematic mod not a VR type of thing

Mika Eel

Pico 4 👍 The question of the questions is: Who is gonna buy the 5090 if it comes out? :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

I'll have to wait and see what the performance increase is for rasterization and RT compared to the price. Obviously the price is going to be at least somewhat ridiculous because that is the standard now, but I can sell my 4090 to cover hopefully at least half of that. I live in a small city, so I like to try and give someone local a good deal when I upgrade. Size will be a major factor as the 4090 is already huge so if I can't fit it in my current case, which can quite comfortably fit my 4090, then I probably will not bother. With the fov optimizations, I can run my Aero quite well now. 32-35 ppd on an Aero looks plenty good enough for me to happily enjoy all these games as a bit of a graphics snob :)

Lagarde

DAMN ! You are able to enable path racing in vr ?? I got a 4070 laptop and I'm not able to play the game in low, with the basic resolution and dlss balanced at more than 40 fps.

Lagarde

Nothing worked for me, so I bought streaming assistant to give it a try, and it worked first time. The issue is that it's unplayable. There is an insane amount of ghosting around everything, when I turn my head I see the black end of the screen, and the game is running like crap, even with dlss on balanced. The only time the game is running "fine" (dlss balanced, lowest) it's getting around 60 fps, and that's when I'm playing in mono, but there is no purpose to play this in mono. I know that my graphics card isn't the best in the world, (4070 laptop), but it's in between a 4060 and a 4060Ti desktop and I was thinking at least in low it would be decent. I tried optimisation mods, and some things that I saw on the net to optimise for vr, but nothing really worked. It could be nice from Luke Ross to say this beforme you purshase the mod, you need at least a 4070super to run this properly.

Tomo

You know you want and will get it 😎 i heard is again 30% ish better but needs complete new motherboard so yeah a full new build. I play to keep my 4090 set up so i can finally play it takes 2 with my daughter!

Brandon(Post Maester)

I have seen people be happy with less, so it is hard to put a limit on what you need. Plus, with the next release, it should add fov optimizations for headsets automatically it sounds like. The Hfov optimization makes a big difference in performance. How did you buy the streaming assistant? Isn't that just standard Pico software? Do you men Virtual Desktop? If you are using VD, your router and connection can play a big part in performance so you may want to bring up the VD graph to see where your performance issues are.

Lagarde

Yes sorry, it was about VD, I will try this this evening, but I have a really strong connection, I tried with my computer via wifi (the router is in the same 20m^3 room, and I'm downloading at more that 1500Mb/s), or in wired via a cat8 ethernet cable, and there was a not a very big difference. My headset and my computer are on a 5Ghz network with only these devices on it. I will check the graph and wait for the next release. Thank you for this message.

Tomo

👌😎

Jesse

Not gonna vote because my favorite was the PSVR 1 lol just because of how comfortable it was. Doesn't matter how many straps or counter weights I buy, I can never emulate how good that thing felt.

Habani

Do you already know whether VR ports of UE5 games will be easily done? I am extremely excited for Stalker2. I dont know the technicalities but do you think it might be available in like 6 months or more like 2 years?

Brandon(Post Maester)

You mean for UEVR? You could ask in the flat2vr discord. There is a good chance it will work with UEVR but you never know until it releases. I think a lot of people are excited for it, so if it is just simple issues that keep it from working on release or just a few things, they will probably try to get it working. I am personally super excited for Silent Hill 2 which releases in a few days :) I don't think Luke will do another UE game unless it is something that is just broken with UEVR, and it is highly requested and/or is his type of game. No point in working on something that will most likely work or get worked on already. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that Stalker 2 works with native rendering mode in UEVR on release though :) After I uncross them for Silent Hill 2.....

Brandon(Post Maester)

I think we got a pretty good picture of the overall headset breakdown now :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

30% performance seems pretty low...... I don't think I would buy one for that performance gain. It has about 33% increase in cores, memory and memory bus but hopefully it is more like 50% performance increase. Will have to wait and see :) I still use a 2k monitor though because it still looks perfectly good, and I have no real reason to go up to 4k. So now that the mods look pretty great in my Aero, I could see myself sitting this generation out or waiting for a TI or Super version that is a better dollar to performance value. It feels like I just got a new GPU upgrade, and I don't really feel the need for more performance like I was. The before and after image quality is pretty staggering for me. I am actually sad that I have already finished up Elden Ring and the DLC. It looks and runs great for me now.

Darren Stoller

I might keep my 4090 PC on win 10 and get a 5090 PC built for win 11...that the dream anyway

Sam

hi am trying to get mafia 2 on vr any help ?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can't offer support because of the DMCA :( You can try on the Flat2VR discord or check YouTube for some vids. I know there are vids for RDR2, not sure about the mafia games.

The2ndlove

https://pastebin.com/RfPGRBX2 I found and deleted the settings info started with a fresh install of the game and opened it in pancake mode before installing V14 of the mod I've set Steam VR to OpenXR it still crashes just as the game loads in after the menu there is also a rainbow effect that's occurring randomly I feel I'm getting closer but have no idea how to move forward Id be grateful for any help you can give me.

Matt

Hi Brandon, I’m having an issue with the VR mod for Hogwarts Legacy. Every time I try to increase the quality settings using the slider, the game crashes, even with very slight adjustments. I’m running the game on a 4080, so I’m wondering if this might be related to my system configuration. Could there be something I’ve missed during installation or setup that’s causing this? Thank you for your help!

Brandon(Post Maester)

What headset ya usin? How is it connected if not DisplayPort? If you want to put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post a link to it here after it crashes, I can take a look.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I don't see a GPU crash or anything, it kinda just stops...... Have you disabled the GOG Galaxy overlay?

The2ndlove

I shut down GOG completely in the clock menu area. Funny thing is I thought it might be the game save so I started fresh the character builder worked perfectly in VR mode (well relatively perfect) but the moment I left it and the game proper started loading it crashed again

Matt

Thank you for your quick response! I’m using a Meta Quest 3, connected via USB-C at 20 Gb/s. Here’s the link to my RealVR64.log file on Pastebin after the crash: https://pastebin.com/NM6c1D3Z. Thanks again for looking into this!

Tomi zos

I have the same problem

Brandon(Post Maester)

@Matt, why do you have SteamVR as your OpenXR runtime? Try setting it to Meta Link in the Meta PC app and see if that helps. SteamVR is just going to eat up performance for no reason at best ;) The only reason I know of to use SteamVR with a Meta headset is if you are using Steam Link.

Brandon(Post Maester)

@Tomi, can you make a separate post and put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post a link to it there please? I don't get notified when people respond anymore so it will just be easier for me to see it :)

AARON

How i can disable head aim tracking ?

Brandon(Post Maester)

If you are using a 3d display, read over the newest Patreon post for directions on doing that. If you are using a VR headset, it is really not recommended as it will cause issues with the position of your head and how the camera rotates.

The2ndlove

Oh I also only loaded from the Cyberpunk.exe not from the launcher

The2ndlove

It’s working I downloaded the 14.1 update and disabled the GOG Overlay and it’s working like a champ now. Just gotta do some minor tweaking to and get used to aiming with my head. I want to thank you for your patience and help with this I really appreciate it. Have a great weekend…I know I will!!!!

D S

yes, do you have one to sell? :-)

Hao Hu

Do the new VFOV and HFOV improvements work with the Valve Index? If they do I might consider subscribing.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I guess I don't know for sure because I have been subscribed for years, but can't you only post here if you are subscribed??? As far as I know, they should work with every headset now as of version 14.1.0

iyui

hi,I cant play game in vr mode by steamvr, game runs right in my computer but my vr get stuck in steamvr lobby my vr is pico4

Brandon(Post Maester)

Are you using VD or Streamer software? Make sure you have SteamVR set as your OpenXR runtime in the SteamVR software if you are using the Pico software. If using VD, try using VDXR in the streamer app and using OpenXR in the runtime dropdown in the REAL overlay if it launches. Hopefully, they will drop a VD update for Pico same as the Quest one.....

iyui

I ues pico softwareware, what should I do to set Openxr in steamvr softwere

Brandon(Post Maester)

Go into the SteamVR settings and there should be an OpenXR section where you can set SteamVR as your runtime. You could also try launching the game without SteamVR running and then connecting your headset and using the StartVR button towards the top of the main tab of the REAL overlay. Right above that button is the runtime dropdown though and I would try selecting OpenXR there.

Jonathan Tate

In uncharted, the button prompts are constantly quickly switching between keyboard and gamepad, and it seems to affect the camera movement as well since I have a hard time moving the camera and making it stick in a new position. Anyone know a fix?

Brandon(Post Maester)

For the camera position, it only happens when you go up to or past a certain resolution. I have already reported it to Luke. You can try dropping the resolution until it fixes itself but that is not a good workaround after being able to use the fov optis to increase the resolution more 🙃 I'd wait for a fix. I haven't had the button switching issue. You mean the button prompts are switching? You can try disabling Steam Input as it can cause issues sometimes. Is the gamepad plugged in? Do you have any other controllers of any kind plugged in?

Jonathan Tate

Good to know about the camera position bug... what's the highest resolution it works at? The button switching has happened in several Luke Ross mods for me, the prompts rapidly switch from keyboard to gamepad and back and sometimes on a long button press I have to redo it because it doesn't register correctly. I already have steam input disabled. Only controller connected is my wireless xbox controller.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Does it happen if you connect it with a cord? I don't remember the exact resolution the camera started having issues at. I would just go down by a couple PPD until it stops and then you can go back up a bit until it kicks in again.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Still got one of those in the closet :) I actually pulled it out to test the other day after not using it for years!! I was actually surprised how good it looked, but the fov is pretty small compared to more modern headsets. Had lots of good times with my Rift S, it was my first headset. Still remember playing Lone Echo and Stormland, which both blew me away years ago. Subnautica too!! Crazy how far the tech has come since those days🤯 Unfortunate that the native games have not really kept up 🥲

Shakey Jake

Yeah this is my first headset still and ive done loads with it, only now the wire sometimes disconnects from time to tiome and im forced to reload the game yeah most VR games all seem like great concepts, but besides from HL Alyx theres not much blockbuster type stuff out there if found

Jazzy Joe

Does anyone know how to uninstall the mods on hogwarts? It won't let me play the regular game

Brandon(Post Maester)

You can rename dxgi.dll to dxgi_bak.dll to disable the mod temporarily if you want to go back and forth or delete that file and the other real files if you want to get rid of it entirely.

Fx Bulldozer

psvr2 controllers not working with cyberpunk 2077 pc

Fx Bulldozer

Working with SteamVr but not with the Game not sure why!

Brandon(Post Maester)

OK, so if you are using it wirelessly, you will need to make sure Steam Input is enabled in the controller settings for the game. Won't work without that wirelessly but if you plug it in it should work with Steam Input disabled. though I think you need it enabled for the haptics to work correctly anyways.

Scott Thrustans

No idea where to find the mod on this Patreon? Can someone help please?

Scott Thrustans

Ah thanks for that Brandon. I chose the $10 a month option and changed the amount to $1 and I'm not averse to paying $10 for the mod as it's great but $10 a month is a bit much for me. I was wondering if you needed to be a $10 a month member to open access to the mod download. If you could verify that it's $10 a month for continued access I'd appreciate it. Presumably you can open the $10 option, DL the mod, then not have a continued sub, but not have all the latest updates? Thanks.

I use REAL VR for Cyberpunk 2077. HP reverb + RTX3060ti + i9-10850K. Is there a way to correct the sparkling shimmer? I get good FPS but there is always an annoying 'pixel rain' in the VR image. I'm hoping a 4080 might help.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is it a shimmering around objects? That is pretty normal but you can do a few things to improve it depending on the game. What game? Does the game just look kinda pixelated overall? That would happen at lower resolutions and would only be solved by increasing resolution. A 4080 would be a big step up in performance and help immensely in that area.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, you have to sub to the $10 membership to have access to the mod. You can always unsub and just join again when you need to update or something you want is added. Any and all support is of course appreciated :)

positron design

It is a shimmering around edges and flat surfaces in Cyberpunk 2077. A constant, animated film grain, compressed Jpeg, random image noise. Like crawling ant selctions in Photoshop. This image captures the image noise. https://imgur.com/a/BM5jPPj This is my settings and benchmark report. https://imgur.com/jy7r9IB Even at lowest quality my 3060Ti only gets 45FPS at 2160x2160 (the HP Reverb wants 90FPS).

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, 2160x2160 is not going to look that great and will be pixelated because you are much closer to the image. Similar to blowing up a lower res image in Photoshop. The only way to counter that is increasing resolution. So, in this regard a 4080 would drastically improve this and you should be able to push resolution pretty high. This would also mitigate the shimmering around objects.

Scott Thrustans

Great, that's what I thought. I suppose that depends on how important and how frequent the updates are, but that's not unreasonable given the amount of work that I imagine is involved. Thanks again for the information it's very much appreciated.

Hi, my membership ended a while ago, and i didn't renew because i was having problem using the mod with pico 4 streaming app (pico connect) and another problem with FOV optimization not working using VD . I'm curious if the new mod update solve it .(:

Brandon(Post Maester)

The fov is already optimized completely for Pico 4 so it doesn't need to be. So if you are looking for a performance boost, no, the current mod version wouldn't offer any. Do stay tuned for the Christmas release!!

The Liver Man

Good afternoon. I know that I am late. I'm not a very tech savvy person. I'm interested in playing GTA in VR. I have looked around and ran into walls stopping my progress, either by way of scam, overly complicated installs, viruses, and so much more. So, I've decided to come straight to the source. Can you help me with my issue?

Brandon(Post Maester)

We can't support it anymore because of the DMCA. I have installed it and played it recently though and I just used files from a YouTube video to do so. Someone said they were able to install the latest mod version, and it ran and installed successfully so I of course had to try and validate that claim. It doesn't work with the current version or any recent version of REAL. I am pretty sure I just used the files from Beardo Benjo's vid. I will link it here for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v1UnLWNC5g&t=214s Flat2VR discord should have a channel dedicated to this and you can ask questions there or get more detailed help probably. Would be so awesome to have an updated GTAV mod with the current mod version, but never going to happen :(

The Liver Man

Thank you for your honesty and letting me know how difficult this task can be. I will wait until the new "wicked " update for cyberpunk 2077 VR drops and perhaps I will be able to enjoy a similar experience that way.

Jazzy Joe

I'm up illiterate. I can't find that file

holu

i know im really late but i have a problem with actually playing the mod. when i launch Cyberpunk with the mod installed, it just launches in theatre mode. and even when i disable theatre mode, it launches and nothing happens in vr. works on pc fine but doesnt show on vr. any fixes? i use an oculus quest 2 with steam link and i have good enough pc specs to run cp2077 on 60 frames average

Cercata

I just bought PSVR2 !!!! Amazing colors !!!!! I have to try it with luke's mods, to see if a can read the HUDs like with Quest 3.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, they sure are. Not upgrading again until I can get a DisplayPort Oled high-res headset with really good lenses. No more compromises!! How does one "red" the Huds??? :)

Cercata

Read. I guess you knew it, and you were just making the joke ;)

Chris

version 16_0_1: Hi Brandon, i just bought a membership and did the setup for CP2077 (GOG version) and my Pimax Crystal and PimaxXR. Unfortunately i was not aware that PimaxXR and REAL mod do not really work together. Was this mentioned somewhere? Instead Oculus libary should be used as mentioned in the overlay. What do I need to do? PimaxXR is not playable. Thx much for your feedback!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you have the Meta PC app downloaded on your system so it has the Meta dll's available to use Pimax compatibility mode. You will want to use Oculus runtime in the REAL overlay dropdown if it does not default to that on Auto. You will also probably need to disable the HUD mipmap option in the REAL overlay or the RealVR.ini file. If it crashes when you try and change the game resolution, you may need to adjust the resolution in that same file under Forcedres as well.

Flex Desmo

Thank you Brandon for your swift reply, much appreciated! How do I tell Pimax that the Meta stuff will be used? I currently do have a Pimax tool to switch between SteamVr and OpenXR. What does the mipmap option do in the REAL overlay? And what is "Forcedres"? My hope was that I am not the only Pimax user with this issue…. anyway thanks for your help!

Chris

Brandon, above chat was from me.. Flex Desmo is my "free" account before I joined the paid version

Chris

Hi Brandon, just a few additional information about my setup: W11, i9-14900k, Rtx 4900. from a performance perspective I should be good to go. Do you have a link to get the Meta dll's?

Chris

Hi Brandon, quick update: I installed Oculus and I now see CP in real 3D. Great!! Working with the overlay is now the problem: it seems that I am looking through a window. If I am moving my head back the overlay disappears completely. Moving forward it is there again. Although I am using the mod defaults I just get 48fps. Can you point me to the next steps to get a better setup? Sorry, I walked to many (!) posts here but I am a bit lost :(

Chris

Hi Brandon, another problem:the mod config calculated 3080x3080 as resolution. Starting with oculus shows a black screen until the infame part starts. When I then switch on the overlay I do get a black screen in the HMD again. The game screen and overlay on my monitor is soooooo tiny that cannot do any adjustments…. Any suggestions?

Chris

It is working now. Finally I had access to the overlay and could change HUD mipmap. I meanwhile found out what ForcedRES means. One last problem: the map is now 3D, that’s fine, but I cannot read the edges of the map with the controls and the map moves with my head. Any idea?

Brandon(Post Maester)

HA, it looks like you mostly got it working now :) For the map, you should be able to disable the 3d map in the game tab of the overlay and use the 2d map which is much easier to see an navigate.

Jon Dean

Want to try out the Cyberpunk Mod but not sure how well it will run on my laptop. I have a i9-14900HX 32 GB Ram RTX 4090. Any thoughts? Will be using an Oculus Quest 3

Brandon(Post Maester)

Even though it is a laptop, so the hardware is less performant than desktop equivalent, that should be able to run things pretty well. You have the FOV optis and DLSSS that you can use now so with Quest 3 it should look pretty good. Of course, I have no idea what the power draw is for your system, and I don't know how the 4090 mobile version compares to the 4090-desktop version exactly but I'd expect that you could run it at least fairly well. Just make sure to keep it plugged in and disable any integrated graphics and possibly any kind of game optimizing software. I'd be really surprised if you couldn't get pretty good quality on that hardware though.

Chris

Me again :) 2 questions 1. where do I switch the city map to 2D? I cannot find this switch :( 2. I do have a small black vertical bar on the left side in my hmd? Can this somehow be changed (center view…)?

Brandon(Post Maester)

1. In the CP2077 tab of the REAL overlay is the 3d map option. 2. You can recenter your view by shaking your head no. If you have black bars on the side, it is probably because the Hfov optimization that stops the game screen from drawing beyond your headsets fov. You can try moving the reduce shaking slider down to see if that mitigates it enough to not be bothersome. Other than that, reducing latency if possible or just turning off Hfov opti, but you will lose performance doing that. It will make the game render beyond your headset fov, which will cost more performance. Black bars can be due to poor performance, like low fps or high latency also.

Chris

Brandon, your are awesome! Thx for your swift reply ❤️ I will try it later this day.

Chris

Hi Brandon, I am confident that I am almost there. 2D map now works. Quick question to the fps counter. I am on rtx4090 and i9-14900k, so performance wise I am ok. If set Pimax to 72fps and in REAL 1/2. I am now fiddeling with the display format. REAL overlay always shows 72fps which is in line with Pimax setup. The fps counter IN game shows around 45. what does that really mean? Why is it below the fps counter in REAL overlay? Due to performance based on game settings e.g. video? I am a bit lost although I’ve red tons of posts meanwhile….

Chris

Hi Brandon, any suggestions?

Hao Hu

It seems VFOV doesn't work with the Valve Index using the OpenXR runtime in Cyberpunk 2077. The option is greyed out in the REAL overlay. HFOV is not greyed out and it seems to be working. Can you confirm this is intended?

Impressief

Why is there still no VFOV and HFOV support for Pico4 with Virtual Desktop? The tick boxes are still grayed out while Pico got 3rd place in the pole. I was hoping to see by now what improvements it offers. What gives?

Brandon(Post Maester)

They are already optimal so there is nothing to optimize :) That is why they are greyed out.

Impressief

Okay so I quess I'm in luck there. But I have an other issue that I've had since playing REAL VR games. First on my laptop. but now also on my new pc with RTX4070. I can get good framerates and high resolutions now but they are ruined by constant lag spike stuttering. I have them while tethered via Pico connect to SteamVR. Bus also untethered using Virtual Desktop. So it's not a Wifi issue but something else. Any thoughts as to what that could be?

Impressief

Pressed enter to soon: Bus = but My other specs: AMD Ryzen 7 8700G 4.20 GHz / 32,0 GB of RAM / the 12VRAM RTX4070 / high speed M2 SSD and ROG STRIX B650E-I GAMING WIFI motherboard

Impressief

Hi Brandon, I fixed the issue: turns out I didn't have my network set up right for maximum performance... I can now push Bitrate to Pico4 max @ 150 wired and fully enjoy playing SW Outlaws and other games without lag spikes. As a kid I in the 80s had a whole set of SW toys I loved playing with and now I can see those toys for REAL in VR at full scale. How great is that! :-)

Thijs van der Caaij

Hi Impressief, can I ask what you changed? Last time I tried REALVR through Pico connect I had the same issue I believe. I just disregarded the software entirely and stuck to VD instead

Impressief

I did a lot of stuff but most important: For performance increase I removed ASUS bloatware with Armory Crate uninstall tool and set my network to 2,5 gbit full duplex.
