Game

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3240220/Grand_Theft_Auto_V_Enhanced/

Enabled technologies

AER v2, DL(S)SS. DL(S)SS-RR is not required for this title because it implements its own version of Ray Tracing that doesn't use NVIDIA Ray Reconstruction.

Supported version(s)

The R.E.A.L. VR framework was tested with game version 1.0.1158.16, available from Steam at the address linked at the top (I get no commissions). The same version of the title bought from other stores might also work, but there are no guarantees.

IMPORTANT: The Enhanced version is the only one I currently support. Due to the complexity of the game and the major improvements that Enhanced brings to image quality, I have no plans of making R.E.A.L. VR compatible with the Legacy version.

Older versions or pirated copies are not supported. Official versions later than the one(s) listed above may or may not work, depending on what was changed. See here for information on how to prevent automatic game updates from breaking VR functionality.

Special setup notes

The folder where you should extract the R.E.A.L. VR archive and run RealConfig is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced".

You might have to customize the path if you moved your games library or in case you own the game from a different store, but it will always be the folder that contains the "GTA5_Enhanced" executable file.

For this title you will also need to add the following to your Steam Launch Options:-ignorepipelinecache -nobattleye

The first option is required because there is a bug with the Enhanced version (see here for a discussion) that causes weird problems at high resolutions, like the rain being drawn in square clumps. Rockstar never fixed it, and the only reliable workaround which is known at the moment is to disable the internal pipeline cache.

Additionally, as you know, the title has a strong online component which is protected by BattlEye against any injection of unknown libraries, so you'll only be able to play the solo campaign ("Story Mode") in VR. Unfortunately BattlEye gets loaded by default even in Story Mode, so it must be disabled explicitly with the -nobattleye option.

NOTE: There is no need to install Alexander Blade's Script Hook V in order to play in VR with my framework. Though I used to have a (free) VR conversion for the original GTA V that was structured as a mod, thus relying on ScriptHookV.dll to translate the native calls that my code made into the engine, that is no longer true; now my software acts like a runtime sitting between the game and your VR system, and it intercepts the graphics API calls in such a way as to achieve 3D rendering in the headset.

You can still use Script Hook V though, if you need it for other purposes: for example because you want to install third-party mods that need the ability to call arbitrary native functions, or if you'd like to use Alexander Blade's Native Trainer to do all sorts of weird stuff in your game like spawning vehicles and weapons, change the time of day and the weather, make yourself invincible and so on.

But to avoid incompatibilities due to the fact that both my runtime and Script Hook V act as conversion layers, you won't be able to use either the dinput8.dll or the xinput1_4.dll loaders that come with the distribution of ScriptHookV, as they will either crash the game or fail to load the .ASI files.

You will need to turn to a more versatile loader like the Ultimate-ASI-Loader by ThirteenAG. Download the Win64 "version.dll" file from its Releases page and put it into the game folder at the same level as GTA5_Enhanced.exe. When the game starts, version.dll will automatically chainload ScriptHookV.dll and any ASI files it finds.

Again, that is only needed if you want to load the Native Trainer or any third-party mods that rely on Script Hook; my runtime doesn't need it, which also means that it should keep working after minor updates to the game that change the native hashes and would normally require waiting for a number of days until AB updates his library.

Resolution and aspect ratio

I was able to interface directly with the engine in order to add the large custom resolutions needed for VR. GTAVE doesn't work well with square aspect ratios however (many HUD elements like the pause menus get cut off to the sides), so I forced 5:4 which is the narrowest ratio officially supported. You will be able to select the resolution you prefer from the game SETTINGS> Graphics menu itself, without any hassle. Just make sure that "Screen Type" is set to "Windowed Borderless".

The framework will also remember the resolution you set across sessions, so once you find the right compromise between detail and fluidity you should be able to play the rest of the game without touching the resolution again.

Options

You can tweak most graphics and gameplay options in the SETTINGS menu according to your liking and how powerful your GPU is, but there are a few game options that you must leave at the defaults preselected by RealConfig in order for the title to display properly in VR. Specifically, in the Graphics page:

Screen Type = Windowed Borderless

Frame Limit = Off

VSync = Off

NVIDIA Reflex should be Off (system-dependent, but for me switching it on tends to have a negative impact on frame rate);

Ray Tracing: the developers at Rockstar did a wonderful job, and this is one of the very few titles where I feel confident in recommending that people with powerful GPUs should definitely enable Ray Tracing. It makes a huge difference on the visuals without killing your frame rate. I personally play with it switched on and maxed out, except for the Second Ray Traced Global Illumination Bounce that I leave Off because it gives diminishing returns;

Frame Scaling = NVIDIA DLSS. Make sure this is selected so that you can use my DL(S)SS fix to eliminate the shimmering around nearby characters and objects. All "NVIDIA DLSS Quality" levels work correctly; I tend to use Quality, even though DLAA does look incredible if you can afford it. In case you are running an AMD GPU, you might try the amazing third-party OptiScaler (see my previous post for details on how to install and configure it for VR) so that you can still make the game believe you're using DLSS. I'll need your feedback on this however, because I don't have an AMD card available to test on at the moment;

Frame Generator must be Off (this is crucial as not only FG does not work at all in VR, it usually also crashes the game immediately and sometimes brings down the whole system). If you turned it on by mistake and now the game won't even start anymore, temporarily rename the dxgi.dll file in the game folder to dxgi_bak.dll to deactivate VR, then launch the game and turn FG back off. After that you can restore the dxgi.dll and the game should start normally again;

In-Game Depth Of Field Effects = Off

Motion Blur Strength = 0 (you should never enable any kind of motion blur when using R.E.A.L. VR, or the world will look smeared out horizontally).

There are also a couple of options that RealConfig cannot set on its own, so you'll need to configure them manually the first time you launch the game in VR:

in the Gamepad page, set Targeting Mode to Free Aim, so that it won't interfere with gaze-based aiming;

in the Camera page, I recommend leaving everything at default, except for First Person Head Bobbing which you should turn Off because it might give you motion sickness in VR.

Additional game-specific notes

You can bring up the R.E.A.L. overlay with the Pause key on the keyboard, or by pressing Back+Start (Select+Start) on the gamepad. This latter gesture is recognized only when the title is paused, to avoid interfering with gameplay; however if you press Start first and then hold it down while pressing Select, the game will automatically switch to the pause menu and simultaneously open the R.E.A.L. overlay.

As I explained previously, you cannot play Online Mode in VR due to the mandatory BattlEye check which will refuse to start a session because of the unknown libraries in the game folder. So, when R.E.A.L. is installed it will make the title boot directly into Story Mode, which is convenient and helps preventing bans. If you want to play online instead, you need to remove from the game folder all the files you extracted there from my archive.

GTAVE has the very annoying "feature" of using DirectStorage to lock all the files in the game folder and all its subfolders as soon as you launch it. Nobody likes that :-) So I added another small quality-of-life improvement by restricting that lock only to the data files that actually need it; you won't need to install a third-party mod for that.

Input

You will definitely want to use a gamepad to play GTAVE. Keyboard and mouse sort of work too, but there might be issues, like mouse clicks activating other windows at random or some entries in the game menus being unreachable with the cursor; thus, in order to have a smooth experience, using a gamepad is highly recommended.

Don't worry about console-player syndrome: with R.E.A.L. VR, aiming is gaze-driven and extremely fast, intuitive and accurate, so even if you're used to playing FPS with your mouse, give your gamepad a chance. It will be one headshot after the other, even when shooting from a car which is notoriously hard in this game ;-)

Camera, HUD, gameplay, cutscenes

The R.E.A.L. framework supports 6 DoF tracking, i.e., the camera will follow your head rotation and movement. It's usually completely decoupled (meaning that you can look in a different direction from the character you're controlling without influencing where he walks), except when you're aiming.

During normal gameplay, the HUD will float in space in front of you. To achieve proper gaze-based aiming and to always keep the crosshair correctly aligned, when you enter aiming mode 6 DoF will be limited to 3 DoF, i.e., without positional tracking.

All the cameras that you can select while on foot or driving (3rd person with different distances, 1st person, even the objective-tracking camera and the cinematic one) will work correctly in VR. Amazingly enough, the same is true of all other custom cameras created by the various scripts that control missions and side activities, like for instance the golf and tennis cameras, the zooming-out-into-space effect when you switch to a faraway character, an so on.

The HUD rescaling can be finely customized, so you won't miss any of the important information that appears at the sides like health, hints, ammo count and so on. If the default size I suggest doesn't work for you, you can tweak it using the HUD "Horizontal scale", "Vertical scale" and "Vertical position" sliders, which will have immediate effect while playing without any need to bump the resolution. Note that these sliders are found in the "GTAVE" game-specific overlay tab and are not to be confused with the "Normal HUD size/distance" and "Aiming HUD size" sliders available in the HUD section of the main page in the overlay.

Cutscenes are presented in glorious 3D, and my framework will give you the ability to look anywhere you like. This being a Rockstar title, the attention to detail is unmatched, and even the "backstage" (the portion of the scene which you were never supposed to see) almost always renders correctly, without missing props, teleporting or rubber-legged characters.

Custom controls in the "GTAVE" overlay tab

For accurate, intuitive ADS (Aiming Down Sights), don't forget to set your dominant eye. The default is right-eye dominant, which works for about 2 out of 3 people.

In the base 2D game, aiming makes your view more and more zoomed in, with scoped weapons providing the greatest magnification. In VR you might want to keep that effect, but some people could be bothered by the warping effect that comes from the zoomed-in field-of-view not matching the headset FOV. For that reason, I included the "Allow FOV change past this zoom level" slider; drag it toward the right to allow zooming only for the weapons that offer the highest magnifications, or toward the left to progressively match the zooming behavior used to aim in 2D.

Sometimes the game may roll the camera left and right, for example when you're hit by a car. If that effect is too intense for your stomach, uncheck the "Allow camera roll" box to keep it from happening in VR. In the same "Camera" section, you can decide whether you want the VR view automatically recentered every time you enter a vehicle, so that the forward direction will be aligned to your gaze.

If you're still using Legacy AER (which I don't recommend because AER v2 behaves very well in this game and makes experiences like driving a fast car or flying a helicopter look amazingly smooth, as they never could be in my old mod), you can select whether to compensate the background judder when you use the thumbstick to rotate the camera.

As usual you can change the world scale, from small adjustments to playing with dolls or giants, or force the game to render to a 2D virtual screen in case you should find a section too hard to play in full VR. And so that you can make the action and explosions in GTAVE look even more awesome, my framework gives you the freedom to go into slow motion or even freeze time completely at the press of a button.

The "HUD" sliders in the GTAVE tab control the scaling of the user interface during normal gameplay; the default values should be fine for most headsets, but you can tweak them with immediate visual feedback in case some HUD elements draw too close to the periphery of your FOV to read comfortably. You can also adjust the vertical offset, but that will only apply when you're not in aiming mode, to avoid crosshair misalignment.

The "Miscellaneous" section allows you to enable or disable a number of fixes that I made to the camera so that it behaves more naturally in VR, in case they exhibit problems on your system or happen to be incompatible with some third-party mod that you're using. For example, "Fix near clipping" will prevent the camera from clipping into close objects during cutscenes.

The vast majority of users should not need to touch this setting, but if your system appears to display the 3D effect incorrectly (as though distant objects were actually in front of closer ones) try changing the "Frame delay compensation" value step by step until you get a perfectly stable world image, with proper depth everywhere.

Updates and known issues

Update Oct 16: Shortly before the release I had to make a last-minute change to the cutscene detection code in order to remedy an issue that was found during testing, and as an unforeseen side effect of that change I broke shooting from vehicles. It's fixed in Release 2610.16.2; I recommend that everybody who wants to play GTAVE update now, because not being able to aim while driving is a big bummer :-/

[I'll post new information here as it becomes available.]

Kaiju Automotive Industries

Using old files, I managed to dive in and in RDR2, this update………chef kiss. Happy holidays Luke and everyone else!

Dimitri

Is this one out yet? Does this game work with version 2610.15.2?

Sunlounger

WOW Thank you!!! Praying you do GTA VI when it comes to PC. That will be a dream!

Val Salia

Ha haaaa, amazing! One of the unexpected silver linings of the Cyberpunk debacle is that you're now operating outside the previous limitations that got GTA and RDR2 de-REALVR'd; which if I'm not mistaken, bodes well for GTA6! The CP2077 hassle may have indeed opened REALVR up to a bunch of new games in the future, so hell, CDPR may have unknowingly handed you a gift, wrapped inside their cease-and-desist. >: D Love you, man! You just keep givin' us gold.

steph

wow niiiiice ! i'm happy that you're back at modding this :)

realvr

Yes and Yes. Unless you're talking about GTA6!

realvr

Well, not much point worrying about poking the tiger when the Earth is about to be bulldozed away to make room for a new datacenter ;-)

ART FLY

Hi Luke I am on and off your patreon since the beginning of the real GTA5 []-) I wanted to say thank you once again by taking a month on your patreon. I have no chance to use the new GTAVE as I still play your mod in Bootcamp on my 17 years old Mac Pro with a gtx1070ti - and I am still loving it to livestream from those biggest grownups playgrounds! Thank you so much for the joyfully spent 1600+ hours in the Far West VR and San Andreas VR you gave me with your skills! I read your email and have the same thoughts about gaming in the shortrun as you. THAT'S WHY I celebrate You AGAiN before tec swaps all our talents against the wall :( the times they are changing still life goes on and we find new interesting fun stuff to think about :)

Simon Nilsson

I played thru the earlier version the last cut scene where the psycho just walks of camera. When he left flatscreen pov he just crumbled up cause the programers decided so. I saw it clear as day and laughed =)

Darren Stoller

Don't worry, World war 3 will get us first 🤦

Beard In VR

is the early access release in the download post already been updated to the version that supports GTA VE?

Natasha Owens

Very nice. Installing GTAVE now. Thanks Luke. Here is a request for Luke or anyone else. Is there a way to have GTAVE online REAL VR server? A server that you could connect with VR without being insta' banned and only have other VR gamers? That would be the true chefs kiss for GTAVE.

Jose Torres

Please do this with battlefront 2

2026-10-16 11:00 Woah! did not expect this. Thank you for you hard work! I have been working on trying to make gta 5 legacy native stereo and wow is it hard, even with AI. So props even more for doing it "the old fashion way". I did successfully get GTA V rendering native stereo within one world tick by extending RAGE’s render-phase scheduler to render both eyes before advancing the simulation. Probably going to put that project to rest now.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Speaking of which, the Welcome post is missing GTAVE.

Any chance of this improving performance of your framework? https://github.com/tig3rmast3r/OFXR-Bridge "OFXR Bridge is an experimental OpenXR API layer that inserts an optical-flow generated frame between two rendered frames."

Ah good catch, I'm getting old :-) I'll fix it now

Jim

My gamepad (xbox series x controller) only works for a few seconds in gameplay when I load the game, then it only works in the game menu and not durin gameplay. Any ideas how to fix this?

Tyler Atkins

Thank you so much for this. I can finally finish my YouTube series. I’ve been trying to get this to work for over 6 months. Is the download available now? Or will it come out later?

AaronCLS

nice work, Luke. Any hints of what you will be working on next?

Skaparadise

Thank you !! Perf are outstanding

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yup, download is in the same "early access" download location as it has been. If you type "download" into the search bar it will be towards of the top of the posts that come up.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I didn't have any issues (same controller), but I don't know what I have Steam Input set to. You could try disabling or enabling that depending on what you have set. You could also try unplugging your controller and then plugging it in again while the game is running. First, try clicking into the game window with your mouse to make sure it is fully active.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I think Tiger Master has been working on implementing it or something else like it to work with the framework. I was able to use it like a month or so ago just fine, but the latency was quite high.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I find that one tick Stereo still has issues though. When the engine can render both eyes natively it just works so much better. I imagine it depends on the game and performance too. If you can hit the refresh rate all the time, one tick is probably a good choice.

Siggi Gold

Great pick, thanks a lot luke.

Joey DiBenedetto

Agreed. It was a wip but only ever got it running at 20-30 fps with a 5090

Can anyone help? Can I get a driving map in the middle of the screen? It works on Quest 3 and Crystal Light. Thanks, Luke.

FlyingWaffle

the battleeye thing is in Luke’s post…

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Hello. I tried it and I notice there's some ghosting. I guess it's typical of the AER approach you use as it happens in other games as well. Any way to reduce it?

Brandon(Post Maester)

If you mean reprojection, try using AER 1/2. Also make sure you are hitting your fps cap, which is doubly as important if using 1/2. 1/2 at 72hz still works really well if your headset has that.

Braven

Wait, are you using a mixture of his old and new mod version files to somehow play RDR2 with the updated mod? If so, please tell us how?

Braven

Thank you for all of your hard work, Luke! I'm always more than happy to help fund your VR developments! I just picked up a 4090 to get the most out of your mod. Thank you for taking another swing at GTAV. I've never played it before and your VR mod is the only reason that I purchased the game. Is it at all possible that you may dip into The Witcher 3 Remaster? I fully appreciate your nightmare of a battle with CDPR and completely understand if you are choosing to avoid them entirely. Also, RDR2 with your newer mod version would be a masterpiece! I played it on my 3090 but I bought the 4090 to try to squeeze a bit more resolution out of your older mod version with RDR2 but damn, is it unstable. Keep up the excellent work, Good Sir =)

John

Oh man, I was just saying to myself " I wish the real mod would get an upgrade for GTA V" I've been playing with the orig lately, same with RD2. This is way better than I had hoped for! Thanks again. Ignore the hate on reddit, people don't understand how niche this community is. Anyone who puts their time in to make it better for the rest of us has a right to as for compensation, and if someone doesn't want to pay that's on them. The whole " Oh no motion controls... Blah blah" argument too is ridiculus. I don't want to always be swaying around my arms or standing etc. I literally play these games on my couch via VD. It's been an amazing experience and i'm grateful for all the games I've enjoyed via R.E.A.L. Literally 1000s of hours. Worth every penny.

FlyingWaffle

Great job! It works extremely well! Thanks!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Depending on how this one goes, that is absolutely a possibility now :)

Djules

As of today, use this fork until Tigermaster releases the future 0.3. https://github.com/djules75/OFXR-Bridge It has the best compatibility. Also with LR, you should use AERv2 or AERv2 1/2. For example, I'm running CP77 at like 4200x3000 at 90 FPS with AERv2 and OFXR on a 5090. Less artefacts than AERv2 1/2 without OFXR.

Hi Luke, I just wanted to take a moment to tell you something that goes far beyond a simple thank you for your incredible work. I've been passionate about computers and video games for most of my life. Over the years, however, I had slowly started losing some of the excitement I once felt when playing games. And then, thanks to your work, something extraordinary happened. You brought that excitement back. Today, exploring the pyramids in Indiana Jones, admiring the ancient stones and hieroglyphics, or simply walking through the streets of Los Santos in GTA V Enhanced feels absolutely incredible. Sometimes I just stop playing and look around, amazed by the beauty of these virtual worlds. I've reached a point where I can't even imagine going back to playing games on a flat screen. I'm not exaggerating when I say that your work has completely transformed my gaming experience and brought back a passion I thought I was slowly losing. I know developing and maintaining your framework must require an enormous amount of time, dedication and perseverance. But I wanted you to know that, on the other side of that work, there are people like me who experience moments of genuine happiness because of what you create. You're not just making games playable in VR. You're giving people like me the opportunity to experience wonder all over again. I genuinely admire your talent, and I don't quite know how to thank you enough. Please keep doing what you do, Luke. Your work means more to some of us than you might imagine. With my deepest gratitude and respect, Tony

Sergej Logis

Thank you!!! One small question: will NaturalVision Enhanced work with the REAL VR mod? It uses xinput1_4.dll, which is mentioned in the ScriptHookV setup section, so I'm not sure.

Simplex

Thank you, very helpful!

Simplex

Maybe AI could help with that ;) (jk, jk)

Grocs

Amazing Luke - thank you! Great to play this in VR again.

Tomo

word.

FlyingWaffle

If only you would apply your magic to Forza Horizon 6! Adding a racing title (not a pure sim, but accessible) to your catalog would be great I think.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I'm not either. I had to change the load order when I tried it. I only tried it briefly though and then reverted to work on my Opti build. If people can't get it working, I can add the load order workaround in my Opti build as an option probably.

Amir Khosh

a quick question. By updating the config.bat file, should we delete or keep the old files?

realvr

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of that. It's heartwarming, and it makes me so happy that my work reaches and touches people and it gives them a moment of pure bliss. It makes all the sleepless nights spent coding worthwhile and meaningful. And it gives me strength to carry on despite the obstacles and the haters. ❤️

Sergej Logis

I would be grateful for the tips 🙏

Brandon(Post Maester)

Depends on how old the old files are :) That is referring to your RealVR.ini settings, mostly your settings in the REAL overlay. So, if new stuff was added for the framework, it is best to delete them and start fresh. If it is only game stuff that was updated, you should be fine keeping them. If you choose to delete, then you only have to put things back to where you like them in the REAL overlay.

Tolino Marco

In first-person view, the camera sways up and down while walking. I’ve set the corresponding option in the game settings to "No," but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Is there a way to stop the head-bobbing effect when walking or running?

Amir Khosh

the old files are from the last relase ...... yesterday. and the new release from today. What I meant was: Do I have to delete the old file, having update them yesterday for GTAVE?

itsjustjayy

ty for this bro, that gta 6 VR mod will feed generations

JediSwordman

Hello, thx a lot. I use Virtual Desktop. The game start, but also steamvr. In my Quest 3 i see only the start from steamvr. The game has a problem and all the time there is "Intialisierung läuft". What is the failure?

Andre Warringa

Odd issue here - normally my Steam Frame controller works as a gamepad in games. They work in GTA 5 - only for 1 second after the game started. Game window is active on my pc - I have no clue what could cause this :-/

Przemek R

Thank you, Luke Ross, for bringing GTA 5 back to VR! I'm truly enjoying the mod, but I wanted to ask about two things: 1. On beach sand and especially on grass, the shader parallax effect (Parallax Occlusion Mapping) is too intense. Is there a way to disable it? 2. I noticed there's no toggle for gyro stabilization of the view in vehicles (I really liked how this worked in the old RealVR mod for GTA 5). I hope you plan to include these in a future update. Thanks again for this amazing mod!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Did you check Steam Input? Maybe try unplugging and plugging back in while the game is running? I don't have one to test. If you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin or drive and link it here, I can see if anything shows up there.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you are using vdxr in the streamer app and then set Meta as your openXR runtime instead of SteamVR.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Nah, not for small changes like that. But if driving while shooting still doesn't work for some reason, you can run the config file again and choose delete. Or just delete the RealVR.ini file and it will make a new default one that is for the version you are on.

Amir Khosh

Thanks Brandon 🙏🏼

ANPUT

Game looks amazing! Got it at top resolution. It dips here and there but mostly at 72fps. Quick question. Would i be able to install menyo 2.0 without harming the framework?

JediSwordman

I using vdxr and Meta is set as openXR. The problem is the same. I start it from steam and also from the rockstar launcher, same problem.

theO

holy shit, this looks and runs great! thank you so much!

Andre Warringa

It gets even more interesting. I tried a gamepad instead (DS4). Same issue, I can walk for one second, then all controls don't work anymore. But then I pressed escape to open the GTA 5 menu and to my surprise - the controls worked there. As soon as I leave the menu and am in the game again.. all controls don't respond. https://pastebin.com/yAzEj97A

Seve Eleven

Love the new pitch control in Spiderman Remastered! At first I forgot to turn off frame gen in Pimax play but when I fixed that the game looks great. It also runs better than ever. Thanks for all the great work and game updates. I'll be checking out GTAV.

WIG

Would it be possible to link the download on any new post i always be struggling to find the link. Great to see this and excited to try with dlss5

Andre Warringa

Ah, exactly the same issue as I posted. I tried Input on and off, but my DS4 needs to have it on. I also have my Frame controllers connected and I just had a session where I could control the game with the DS4, except the menu - I could only control that with the Frame controllers (which are in controller mode). Randomly the DS4 stopped working alltogether again. Something very weird is going on.

Andre Warringa

I replied my new findings under the post of the other poster who has the same issue, let's keep the discussion there so it's in one place.

neil rosson

i think just have version through r* how do i -ignorepipelinecache -nobattleye

Miguel Plylar-Moore

I’m not seeing my issue listed here so probably something on my end. Using an Index here, I experienced an issue where on booting game the 2d loading screen would turn small, boot into VR but then start spazzing out rapidly flipping from VR to small 2d screen (or rapidly flipping to something, was an unplayable mess). It would stop and play normally for a few seconds or minute then spaz out again. REAL VR overlay and pause screen were not affected by this though and game was at the default render resolution REAL has it set to. I did end up setting it to a different res and that seemed to calm it down. It does flicker now and again but very few and far between and completely playable. Any ideas on why this occurs?

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Hello. I've tried Cheeky Foveated DLSS 5 and some "Really" version one supposedly adapted to work with Luke Ross mods, but it does not work. Pressing F8 opens no overlay. Any chance to improve compatibility? What are other alternatives otherwise?

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Sorry I made a bad diagnosis about that cheeky feature. I meant to say that whenever i install the cheeky mod, the VR mod does not start, i mean luke's, and the cheeky thigny does indeeed work but not the mod. Can't have both at the same time working

Stephen Gallagher

I had an issue with a controller being unresponsive due to an ASUS ROG mouse acting like a controller. Went with a super basic mouse and it worked... So try unplugging peripherals maybe?

Andre Warringa

Did you have that issue specifically with this mod? It does seem like a prioritizing issue, since in one moment I could use my gamepad for controlling the character, but the menu worked only with my Frame controllers in gamepad mode. But there's no stable situation - one moment gamepad works, next moment not. Will experiment more with unplugging stuff, but would be nicer if this issue could be fixed in the mod :)

2026-10-17 05:00 No, I still haven't tried this one. But Dead Space had me stumped for a few days until I ditched the mouse. It was the only LR framework that caused the issue. Not sure if it may have carried forward.

It's a controller conflict. When I leave my Frame controllers off my DS4 works - as soon as I turn one Frame controller on, then walking works with the Frame controller, but the in-game menu weirdly enough works with the gamepad. Randomly it switches which controller it uses, randomly it decides to stop working on either of them. Starting the game with the DS4 off - Frame controllers work for literally one second. After that - they only respond when I open the in-game menu with the escape key. As soon as I go back to the game they stop responding. This conflict happens in older versions of the mod too - another user just posted he had the same issue until he unplugged his mouse with the Dead Space mod.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I am working on an Optiscaler fork that will have DLSS 5 and is compatible with REAL. Easier because it is just one install and no chain loading anything.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Does it say you are using OpenVR(legacy) or OpenXR rendering mode at the top of the main tab of the REAL overlay?

Laust Sørensen

Both tools use dxgi.dll, so they conflict by default. Cheeky needs to be loaded first. Here is the order that works for me: 1. Install the Luke Ross framework. 2. Rename the framework's dxgi.dll to dxgi2.dll. 3. Install Cheeky Foveated DLSS 5 (which will add its own dxgi.dll). Once both are in place, the F8 overlay should appear.

Laust Sørensen

I’m using the standalone version of Cheeky, not the RenoDX version.

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Also any plans to soften the camera in vehicles? In cyberpunk I could take it but even with this proper AER implementation, it gets me quite queezy after a while. I'll just have to drive slowly I guess 😂

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Update on my cheeky foveated dlss5 tests: renaming the DLL did work but before up scaling alternates on off. This can use being integrated in the mod, so only the real frame gets the NR pass and not the reprojected one, and also fix before up scaling which must be a simple AER quirk. Also the new NR that came out today looks all aliased, like anti aliasing is not working (only on the foveated part)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Try disabling DL(S)SS if you have it on for now. My Opti build should do most of that same stuff when I release it soon here and fixes NR for AER. Also works with DL(S)SS now.

Brandon(Post Maester)

It doesn't work for you with the chain loading that Luke added in? By renaming Reshade's dxgi to ReShade64.dll

Brandon(Post Maester)

No, REAL is now setup to chain load Reshade with add on support by renaming the Reshade dxgi file to Reshade64.dll only Real with then chain load Reshade which can then load addons like cheeky.

Grocs

Not a biggie, but I notice randomly the DLSS isn't picked up. I thought at first it was just the higher resolutions, but even the 2700 resolution seems to be native render with DLSS Quality on. Is anyone else getting that issue? I'm using PSVR 2 with OpenXR.

realvr

Not completely, no. But disabling it from the game settings makes it way more tolerable

EAST

Where exactly do I download the latest version or the real framework? This always confuses me.

DOC

Where is the link for the mod? I don’t understand anything on this site. Just to clarify, I am a subscriber to Lukeross.

Andre Warringa

Patreon is superclumsy for this. The first post is a 'Welcome' post, there you will find the link and guide to the actual mod.

RDR2 update coming soon?

Gaz252

Hey guys hope you are all well, i took a break from VR for a while whilst having issues with my eyes but i had to come back for Dead Space and now GTA5 makes a stunning return. After having tested it for over 10 hours i am once again in awe of what Luke has achieved from playing this in 1st person throughout. Thank you so much for this one as i'm sure that 10 will turn into 100 pretty soon. While testing i noticed that my VR view in the SteamVR overlay cuts off a portion of the screen on the far right its like a huge black bar running vertical down the screen which i was able to get rid off by unticking HFOV in the GTA tab but this bar returns for cutscenes. Is there a way to keep it off even during cutscenes? its not a big issue just wondering if it was possible.

Steveo

Hi, GTA5 crashes/freezes on the load up screen with VR but when i disable VR the flatscreen games loads up fine. Any fixes. I tried dead space that worked just fine.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You can lower the "reduce shaking" slider to help with it but you shouldn't have a huge black bar unless your latency is quite high or fps low, especially if you have unchecked Hfov optimization. So, something else may be up. I did have an issue in cutscenes with camera rotation compensation checked but Luke fixed that when using Legacy AER, and it shouldn't work in cutscenes now. But that may be worth unchecking just to see if you are not having an issue with hitting your fps cap or high latency.

Brandon(Post Maester)

If you type "download" into the search bar, the early access post will be towards the top. As well as a post that covers your question specifically :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

If you type "download" into the search bar the first post that comes up will answer your question and have a link to the EA post :)

Gaz252

Thanks for replying Brandon, may i email you a twitch vod link so you can see exactly what i mean ?

Critical

Finally had the time to try it: The game looks incredibly good in VR and runs really smooth even with RT turned on. Great work!

Changing anisotropic filtering from the default value to 16x crashed my game and now I can't launch the game any more . I tried reinstalling the real framework but that doesn’t seem to work for some reason. It says it has removed all files but, they're still there in the folder... So now I'm reinstalling the game and the mod. Guess I'll not touch that anisotropic filtering setting next time. Anyone else here experienced this?

Miguel Plylar-Moore

Open XR, it doesn’t matter, seems was only happening on opening mission. Put in the update from the 16th and reinstalled REAL, whatever it was it’s gone now, probably a SteamVR error that was resolved with restarting. Thanks anyway

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yup, chronowake@gmail.com Please include a RealVR64.log file too :)

Gaz252

Done :) Thank You Brandon i know its Saturday so please no rush in checking it out.

EAST

I keep having issues, even after a reinstall of everything. I can't launch game any more. It all started when I changed the anisotropic filtering setting. I guess I'll need to do a deep clean and remove everything related to real and gta... What is the procedure there? deleting the appdata folder for the game?

ANPUT

Brandon! Are you around wondering if you got the dream air and are using sboys!

John

Go to your documents and rockstar folder, delete the settings file that’s in there

ANPUT

Luke has broken a record. I have played a crap ton of vr games. And spent more hrs than i like to admit getting them to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye and at a comfortable framerate. This is absolutely perfect. In every way. And im buried at 90fps now. (I had it set to 72 fps in steam. No one has done this Uevr not even close. Most of their games the performance is not the greatest or you need to find a profile to get it to work. I highly agree with everything he said. I'm extremely blown away. Bro created a perfect ezperience on this one It couldn't look any better even on my monitor. Thank you luke!

Steveo

Yes it was a fresh install of GTA V Enhanced edition. I was able to play Dead Space but GTA freezes everytime on loadup screen

Steveo

Im playing not flat screen version with no problems

Brandon(Post Maester)

Was it a fresh install? That seems super odd that changing one setting could cause that much trouble. Maybe something got corrupted but was it an old install with other mods or something?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can you drop a link to a RealVR64.log file after it freezes? Use pastebin or drive, or whatever works for you, don't put the log file itself here please.

realvr

Thank you John! It's brave, posting material right in the hater's pit :-D

azur29

THANK YOU !! i just finished to replay rdr2 at 100% (not a single wrinkle). GTA5... is for me a symbol. The symbol of the great beginning of an amazing VR experience. Thanks you again Luke for all of that !

Joaquin - Manguevar Entertainment

Turns out the aliasing was foveated upscaling. Turning that off in F8 settings fixed it and could use the new NR just fine, BUT it adds lots of graininess on darker scenes. Definitely had to turn it off after seeing that. Something is wrong so I'll just wait for your fork

John

Ha yeah. Well with 1100 upvotes in under 18h on a niche sub, I’d say you’re pretty damn popular there. The votes don’t lie

DOC

Thanks guys

As per some other comments, having an updated RDR 2 would be amazing. Perhaps even the original RDR? Also, the Mafia trilogy would be amazing. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about these.

John

Check out the performance I’m getting with Legacy AER : https://streamable.com/wbfgw0 Guess it’d because the game is older? Works better than v2 for me. Much better

Brandon(Post Maester)

Are you expecting me to come over to your house or something............. I will have to pass

John

Not quite what I was expecting lol?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Well, you didn't have a link there earlier 😉 Yeah, this version of the game is absolutely fantastic in VR. The RT is far more performant that what we usually get. Don't tell all those people who are pushing "proper" VR mods. They might have to admit that this game is just a good time in VR, even without Native stereo (which is not doable in every case) or motion controls 😮 How dare you enjoy AER, you VR heathen!!

John

To me it’s just as good as stereo. It’s running so well and without shimmering or artifacts.especially with the q3 set to 144hz and the frame rate to match. The sharpness too is insane. When you pull your phone out and your arm, hand and phone appears in front of your face, the depth is unreal. Driving and sticking your head out the window, or fully turning around… The lighting now in every case. Anyone who says otherwise unfortunately doesn’t have the hardware to experience it. It’s fucking good. Fuck around with the contrast and vibrance a bit too in the mod and it’s almost like the clarity reshade filter mixed with hdr and ambience.

Eitan Litner

I’m using your mod with Vrto3D mod on 3D oled display and it’s great after few tweaking of the hud position. It would be nice to be able to position the hud also on the horizontal plane. Thank you very much for your wonderful amazing work!!

Eitan Litner

Agree. RDR2 and mafia updates will be amazing

Jason

Hi Luke and Brandon, could you help with a reproducible controller issue in GTA V Enhanced? Do you have a known fix, a supported input/device-selection setting, or a diagnostic build we could test? R.E.A.L. initially worked extremely well, including driving and character controls. Now controller gameplay fails while pause-menu navigation still works. Keyboard WASD remains functional. Completely disabling the framework restores normal Xbox gameplay. A second controller, a Bluetooth PS5 DualSense through Steam Input, reproduces the same menu-only behavior. I also sent this report by DM earlier; posting here for game-specific support. Diagnostic report: 18 October 2026 Environment: • Steam GTA V Enhanced 1.0.1158.16 (app 3240220, build 25261616). • R.E.A.L. 2610.16.2 early access; dxgi.dll 2610.16.2.5356. • Windows 11, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 4080 Super, NVIDIA 617.42. • Quest 3; wired Xbox One controller connected directly to the PC. Bluetooth DualSense tested separately with Xbox unplugged. Verified observations: • The installed framework components match the official archive, and the game build matches the published supported version. • The Xbox failure reproduces with Steam Link/SteamVR OpenXR 2.17.10, native VirtualDesktopXR 1.0.10 OpenXR, and native Oculus through Virtual Desktop Streamer 1.34.22. No SteamVR process was present during either native VD test. • A fresh framework INI did not fix it. The R.E.A.L. overlay and SteamVR dashboard were closed. Input processing was set to Pass on all input. • Steam Input changes, GTA controller defaults, USB ports, and desktop gameplay were tried. Steam Input was verified disabled in the controlled Xbox tests. • Hand tracking disabled from startup and SteamVR HMD-only operation did not fix it. • Discord and NVIDIA overlay features disabled did not fix it. Some companion DLLs remained loaded, so complete absence of their hooks is not claimed. • Stop VR in the same game process did not restore controller gameplay. • An external System32 XInput1_3/XInput1_4 comparison captured 154 distinct packets per API. All 153 shared packet IDs had identical buttons, sticks, and triggers. Only slot 0 was connected; face buttons, right shoulder, and left trigger activity were captured. • During a 90-second foreground/input check, GTA owned Windows foreground for all 823 samples, including 41 with substantial stick movement. Gameplay still did not respond; menus did. • A bounded read of the public System32 XInputGetState entry/jump owner showed that the in-game call passes through the R.E.A.L. dxgi.dll hook. Returned values were not measured inside GTA, so hook ownership alone does not establish the faulty condition. DualSense comparison: • Windows and Steam recognized the Bluetooth DualSense (054C:0CE6), with only that physical gamepad present in external DirectInput enumeration. • Steam Input ON, Rockstar's official Gamepad With Camera Controls layout, gyro None: the same menus-only failure. This was a fresh session with R.E.A.L. 2610.16.2.5356 and focused VirtualDesktopXR 1.0.10 on Quest 3 confirmed in the log. • Steam Input OFF / game built-in support: no controller response at all. This native Bluetooth result is not proof of a framework fault because no flat native-Bluetooth baseline was established. • Both DualSense OpenXR sessions remained black after normal quit confirmation and required stopping the game process. Other clues, significance unknown: • Logs include “Not in cutscene, but no orientation information is available.” • External XInput1_3 capabilities report Type 0/SubType 1/Flags 4, while 1_4 reports Type 1/SubType 1/Flags 0, despite matching live input states. There is no evidence the framework uses the differing field. • External DirectInput enumeration saw only the physical Xbox during the Xbox tests, while in-game logs also listed Valve GUIDs even with SteamVR closed. These may be dormant placeholders. No extra XInput/DirectInput proxy, ScriptHook, or ASI loader was found in the game root. No proprietary binary patch, input bypass, NVIDIA driver change, or framework reinstall was performed. Temporary framework settings were restored; the VR INI and game graphics settings still match the preserved copies. Steam Input is currently ON for the Bluetooth DualSense, which restores menu input but not gameplay. The release has no framework source or PDB symbols, so no source-level fix was attempted. We have not established a specific internal code defect. Is there a diagnostic build or logging option that could show whether the framework selects the wrong input device or suppresses gameplay input? If you have a fix or a safe targeted test, we can try it. The local logs and diagnostic summaries are preserved and can be supplied if needed. Thank you.

Jason

Update, 18 October 2026: two more checks completed, with the controller problem unchanged. 1. Steam verified the GTA V Enhanced installation: all 294 files successfully validated, with no repairs. The game remains 1.0.1158.16 (build 25261616). 2. After backing everything up, I regenerated GTA's profile files cfg.dat and pc_settings.bin. Both were newly created and confirmed different from the originals. My existing Story Mode save loaded with R.E.A.L. 2610.16.2 enabled, Quest 3 using native VirtualDesktopXR 1.0.10, and the Bluetooth DualSense through Steam Input with the Xbox unplugged. The OpenXR log reached FOCUSED. Physical test result: still menus only, no walking/looking gameplay control. For clarity, this reset the GTA profile settings only. The graphics settings.xml and RealVR.ini were kept unchanged for the test. My saves were preserved. After the failure, the original profile, graphics and VR settings were restored and checksum-verified; both save files are unchanged. During this trial the view also looked wrong, pitched steeply upward. Its cause is unknown, and the headset view has not been retested after restoring the original settings. Could you suggest a targeted next check, a known fix, or a diagnostic build/logging option? The verification results and failed-session log are preserved. Thank you.

Quick update: Xbox gameplay, driving and menus are now working with R.E.A.L. enabled, and VR is smooth. This followed a clean GTA installation/profile, a fresh installation of the same mod version, and a full Steam restart with Steam Input and GTA’s Steam overlay disabled. We haven’t isolated the exact cause. It’s passing testing now, but because it worked initially before the original failure, I’m checking that it remains stable across restarts and longer sessions. Thanks for your help.

If I instal Ultimate asi loader can I use modhub app and their mods? I tried it without and it crashed, I had to use a mod wiper app to clean out all the files just to get REAL working again

VRt

Oppisite for me, legacy runs like shit and looks like turd

VRt

RDR1 already has a fantastic VR mod with motion controls, manual reload etc

Darren Stoller

This game looks amazing, the only problem I've encounted so far is in the elk hunting mission. Halfway through the mission the image started to stutter making shooting through the sniper really difficult and then the game crashed my pc. After rebooting the game was fine until I started the elk mission and stuttering again. Even after the mission had finished the mission the stuttering remained but disappeared after rebooting the game.

Steveo

I got GTA V to load in VR with a fresh install but the gamepad is not working while using the steam frame is this a known issue and do you know the work around to get gamepad xbox controller to work.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin or google drive and post a link to it here please? What headset and how is it connected if not DisplayPort? Did you change any settings or install anything? Any info like that would be helpful :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Not sure, I had some trouble getting Natural Vision Enhanced with Uasi too. Had to use Opti to adjust the load order but I also didn't try as much as I could to do other things like try different file names etc. I don't know what the modhub app is, so not sure about that. I did get NVE working though.

Uh, we didn't help....... Steam Input can cause issues in some games for some people. But it seems finicky sometimes. So, disabling it or default settings is usually a good debugging step when having controller issues with REAL. I have had it on "use default settings" the whole time with no Xbox controller issues. You may need Steam Input enabled for PS5 controllers, not sure. I'll try that later today as well as enabled to see if it messes up Xbox input for me. Thanks for reporting your issues so :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

@VRt, system specs? Headset? Looks like it is running really well for most people so far, but they might be on high end systems. Performance is really good for me even on mostly max settings, but I have a 5090 system and a headset with a relatively small fov.

Joël Querci

Hi Luke and Brandon! I know I come after the war but I wanted to thank you again for your amazing work. This works pretty well and in 4k I still got around 50 fps and in ultra mod. I have only one problem : I play with the Rockstar version and not the Steam one and everytime I got the oculus debug window that I have to close to launch the game in VR or else it doesn't work. Or else there is no problem! Thanks again you are the GOAT as usual!!! and I confirm DLSS 5 with Brandon's method works like a charm and without loss of FPS ;)

Brandon(Post Maester)

@VRt, yeah it looks pretty good in the vid I watched, but I haven't tried it. Does it have gamepad as an option too? As crazy as it sounds, some people actually prefer that. Though I think motion controls fit into the RDR games pretty well potentially.

Serge Magnier

Hello, I'm new here. I tried to execute RealConfig.bat in the "Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced" folder (version 1.0.1158.16), but I'vea ERROR message saying this foler does not seem to belong to any of the supported game. Looking into the RealConfig.bat file, there is no redirection for GTA V. Can someone assist? Thanks

VRt

How does Natural Vision Enhanced look? Modhub is a GTAV app with 100s of mods that works similar to Steams mods where you just subscriber and the mod is in your library. Super easy to use and there are some graphics mods on there that are meant to rival Natural Vision like the voluramic clouds feom RDR2 and GTA6 Oceans. Also some insane RT mods. It's actually a monthly sub but it also has free mods like night sky enhancements etc. Unfortunately out the box it crashed with REAL. I also couldnt get native trainer working, I installs the d3d12 asi plug in, do you know if that is the correct one?

VRt

Just to elaborate the UASI loader has d3d9.dll, d3d11.dll and d3d12. dll so I'm assuming 12 is the correct one. Saying that does the trainer work with scripthook? If I install scripthook should I not put those file Luke mention or does UASI make them work? I UASI makes Modhub work we are looking at a Skyrim modding situation, 100s more hours on GTAV, there is an NPC chat mod where they actually can do tasks, join you for a ride in your wheels etc, kinda like new side missions or companions.

Joshua McQuiston

Sorry I figured out what happened I think. Gtav deleted alot of the vr repo after the first time I played. I put the files back and its working again.

ANPUT

I just noticed legacy aer isn't recommended what is recommended for that? And another question has anyone noticed in a vehicle i cannot free aim with me nose. I have the settings set to free aim i am not sure what else to change In car targeting is set to aim and fire too, still it only fires forward no matter where my little dot goes....

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you are on the latest version which fixes shooting while driving. It was fixed after the initial release version, so you would need to download the new one if you haven't yet. 1/2 would probably be the recommendation if you can swing it on your system. Performance is pretty good in this game if you are on a high-end system. So, 1/2 at 72hz works really well. Use whatever you think works best for you and your system ultimately though.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is it the current GTA V E version? Did you put the launcher commands in that are in the post above? Also, make sure to double click the config file and don't right click and run as admin.

Brandon(Post Maester)

DLSS 5 definitely has an fps cost ;) Even the newest file that I got ahold of has a cost though it is much less.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Luke says to use version.dll in the post. Give it a shot. NVE was ok, I didn't think it looked much better than just using DLSS NR personally unless you are going all out and then it eats up a lot of performance. Wasn't worth it for me.

Joël Querci

Yeah definitely not free, but with openxr frame gen at 50 % it remain the same before and after on my machine.

ANPUT

Thanks! Honestly i was fluxuation until i put in in legacy and then im buried at 90fps. Am i missing out on anything in the other rendering method?

Brandon(Post Maester)

1/2 would be much more smooth in motion and feel like 180fps vs legacy feeling slower and having reprojection when things move past you or you strafe. But if you are fine with Legacy, go for it. Performance is a lot better if you would rather push resolution as high as you can and settings. Try both and see what you think. If you are stuck at 90hz, 1/2 will be harder to run there.

JA

Tired this last night, absolutely amazing and first time I'm actually preferring AER over mono as it has no screen tearing or black bars when turning. Thank you luke!!!

ANPUT

Yeah its perfect i dont see anything wierd. Res its at the highest and everything is perfect! 90 fps is all my headset will get so i think thats whybits buried there it was buried at 72 in steam vr and i switched it to 90.

Joël Querci

Sorry yeah it is OFXR bridge

Phil Medina

What does this mean, people saying the new version works with rdr2? Just same as old one or able to be compatible with optiscaler and dlsss? Or is this a not true at all?

Serge Magnier

Yes I do confirme this is the current GTA V E version and I added this command in the launcher: -ignorepipelinecache -nobattleye. I made a double click on the bat file

ANPUT

Buried like not fluxuating stays right at 90 fps. Im using the dream air.

Virtual Samurai

Cant even open the game menu its just pressing left over and over and dosent stop or let me do anything.

ANPUT

I was having performance issues with 1/2 at full res until i switch to legacy and it fixed everything. It was at 72 not budging and then i found that steam vr was set to 72 and not 90 so i changed it to that and now its at 90 and doesnt move.

Grocs

Thanks @VRt, I'll have to check that out. I'm curious about the gamepad option too actually, since I sometimes prefer to play it that way when I'm comfortable on a couch :)

Siggi Gold

can you maybe implement something to smooth the cameras when driving ? i get dizzy after a session because of that. would be amazing. thank you

Brandon(Post Maester)

I think this version has more instability when driving overall, especially on bikes. I don't remember it moving around as much in the OG version.

Brandon(Post Maester)

1/2 at 72 is still going to feel much smoother though. It is worth trying as long as you can stay at 72 without fluctuating at all. 1/2 is harder on the GPU because it interpolates an extra frame which requires some overhead. Very doable at 72hz though. Again, just use what you like and enjoy the game.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Make sure you have the latest "early access" version and put all the files from the REAL folder into the main game folder.

Virtual Samurai

It’s working fine now lol thxx. What’s up with getting reshade shaders on this?

Brandon(Post Maester)

What do you mean? Are they not working? Did you read the post on chain loading Reshade with addons?

Virtual Samurai

I must have missed that part I got the script hook and trainer n all working fine

Billy Bloggs

Looks brilliant. Thanks heaps. I have DLSS5 running via DLSS5 swapper. Beach sunset at the pier was insane looking and all the faces look so much better. My 5080 starts to hurt a little after a while tho :(

NutGobbla

i'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but i'm brand new to patreon just to grab this mod. but for the life of me i can't find the download link for the mod, and i've read through this post multiple times. is it hidden or am i just that dumb?

Serge Magnier

From my perspective I did it but can you give me the direct link to the lastest "early access" version to be sure?

NutGobbla

thanks! i had found the link once before but overthought it and figured gta wasn't in it since that was dated in march and the gta post is only a few days old. thanks again for the quick help!

Serge Magnier

OK I found it and I think it fixed my issue. Thanks Brandon for your support

NutGobbla

i just got done completely reinstalling a fresh install of gta ve, then installed the mod and followed all the instructions step by step. but when i start the game from epic (the instructions say to start as normal), it asks if i want to allow the rockstar launcher to make changes. if i choose yes, it'll start for less than a second, crash, and loop back to asking for permission again. if i choose no it tells me "unable to install prerequisites, please try reinstalling the game." i swear i followed the directions step by step, but i have to be missing something.

Darren Stoller

I've not played since booting it up to make sure it's running ok, would you still want the current log then?

Devious Dan

Incredible! I was always hoping you would update this game for the framework. Rockstar should just appreciate the fact that your framework will most likely increase sales of their games. Hopefully when GTA 6 PC port comes out you can add that to the framework too!

Tomo

possible to brielfy explain how to install dlss5 on this game?

Brandon(Post Maester)

It will only do any good if the log captures the issue while it happened. So, if the log is from a session where that happened, yes please. If it is after the fact, then it wouldn't help. If it happens again, then save the log and email it to me please :)

Amazing to have this back, thanks Luke. But i would love to know if anyone has anyone managed to get a steering wheel working along side the mod. I downloaded one but i think the script hook you need to use the mod interferes with the VR mod so game wont launch.

realvr

Can you give us a few more details? Which 3rd party mod are you using? Did you follow my "Special setup notes" here at the beginning of the post? (summary: keep ScriptHookV․dll, remove dinput8․dll and xinput1_4․dll, use version․dll from Ultimate-ASI-Loader by ThirteenAG to load both ScriptHookV․dll and the ASI files)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can you link a copy of your RealVR64.log file here please? Use pastebin or google drive or something that creates a link, don't paste the long file here.

azur29

just installed, I could almost cry, It’s just so iconic to me. Plus, the graphics actually hold up quite well. Damn, this is so good. THANKS !

VRt

Yeah I don't think anythings gonna beat NR NVE is more catered for Legacy, I would be interested to try these night sky mods, northern lights an milky way. Hopefully version.dll will make Modhub compatible so we can try out. I'm gonna try, but if not its a slog to fix it and get REAL working again

NutGobbla

i'm at work right now, but i'll do it after i get off tonight. really appreciate you guys being here to help!

Billy Bloggs

1. Install Game and LR mod as usual. 2. Temporarily rename the installed dxgi.dll file to something else 3. Install DLSS 5 Swapper (I used standalone version) 4. Apply DLSS 5 swapper to GTAV (Pretty much just one click install). 5. Rename The new dxgi.dll, installed by the Swapper to ReShade64.dll (match exactly, including case). Rename the dxgi.dll you previously renamed, back to dxgi.dll. Done.

2026-10-20 21:00 I was going to ask about vehicle aiming being broken (not sure how I managed to pass the first few missions), and I see a fix is already realized apparently. Thanks! PS: of course now I can't find where the download is... am I blind or it's neither in this post or the pinned top post? Has it been taken down already?

awesome. I Try that. you seen an 'noticable' performance drop with that swap? I Am on 5090 (gee just watched Jayz 2cent video that 5090 is basically discontinued and if you can get its small car now)

Billy Bloggs

Yeah huge performance hit. Apparently newer version is going to be faster. I think you can mitigate it with oFXR and cheeky foveated DLSS rendering but I've yet to have any success with them.

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is faster, but also lighter on the effect too. But you can almost run it at 2x for the same cost sometimes, depending.

NutGobbla

scroll down to my question, it was posted in a reply there.

NutGobbla

so i have searched my entire computer, but the only realvr64 files are two .dll files and four .json files, all in my gta root directory. does that mean it didn't get far enough to generate one?

Billy Bloggs

So it is available? I'll have to take a look.

VRt

I got it working, I installed REAL again last, when I installed GTAV Modhub app I deleted xinput and it seems to work but need to play a bit more to see for sure, I intals LA roads, stars enhanced at night, better muscles and curves, real cars.

Brandon(Post Maester)

If there is no RealVR64.dll file in the main game folder, then REAL is not trying to inject. Did you get an error message when you ran the config.bat file?

FlyingWaffle

There's actually a VR pluggin already, but from what I've seen it's not very good (performance is poor).

FlyingWaffle

Hey John, you say you play at 144fps... what card you got? Could you give us your settings? I have a 4090, at 90fps, ray tracing at high (most other stuff on high too, except textures on ultra), my screen rez is around 2700x2700 (above that it dips below 90fps and it starts to stutter)

FlyingWaffle

What GPU you got? Maybe try updating the driver?

FlyingWaffle

I've been looking into racing wheel mods (a month ago, after I got Luke's old GTA5 VR pluggin to work again), but the only one I found was behind a paywall, and some of the latest youtube comments suggested it broke after some GTA5 update. So I gave up on that.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Did you disable BattleEye? Did you add the launcher commands from the post?

FlyingWaffle

How does DLSS5 work in VR? I thought the "adding wrinkles" was a post processing step, so it would apply to each eye buffer separately?

FlyingWaffle

I used to have weird stuff with Luke's VR pluggin in Elden Ring, the gamepad wasn't working and the camera would go crazy and spin around... the fix was to disable my mouse and keyboard as the game was loading.

FlyingWaffle

this could attract too much unwanted attention? :P

EAST

I solved the issue by reinstalling the mod plus deleting the settings file. Then when I relaunched the game all the settings where already preconfigured for me to the highest settings, which worked out great, even the 16x anisotropic filtering 😆

am i the only person being lost with hz ?? in gta it is locked and greyed to 60 ? on my quest 3 i don't know at all and on virtual desktop i have access to fps in stream , i tried 80 but then luke ross menu shows me game in 60 fps , then my resolution i don't know wish one.... sorry for my insanely lazy english writing. But i forgot something, im on ryzen 6 and rtx 2070, I know it is not crazy. But my results are these flickering screen and people , cars, ghosting. I would be so happy to play without any flickering and ghosting even with bad texture , I would be happy .

Phil Medina

Oh snap someone added Nemesis system to rdr2, luke I beg you lol 😆

Brandon(Post Maester)

What rendering mode are you using? That is probably what is locking you to 60fps. Although a 2070 is a hard ask, so you may also not be hitting more than 60 🤷‍♂️ Check rendering mode in the main tab of the REAL overlay though.

NutGobbla

shit, no. i was following the install instructions on one page and didn't realize there were more here too. i have the epic version, but i'm going to see if i can find a place to put them in and give it a try again.

NutGobbla

not sure why my last comment didn't post, but putting those commands in the epic launch option thing didn't change anything. i'm not sure if it helps, but here's a video of how quickly it crashes. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8V111g66oTM

Anybody have any Mod recommendations that they are using that work well in VR for GTA5 Enhanced?

FlyingWaffle

Can someone share their setup and performance? (it always seems that it's running ok for me, until people rave about how smooth everything is with everything maxed out, and then I realize something is off with my setup). For example with a 4090 in psvr2 (quite high fov), I run at 2700x2700, with everything on High only (including path tracing), DLSS quality, and I can stay at 90fps, Windows HAGS on/off doesn't seem to make a difference. It could look sharper, but going above 2700x2700 would require cutting off path tracing to avoid stutter (which can be detected when driving forward and then waving left and right aggressively).

Jean Michel VR

Hello Brandon, Actually no i'm at a pretty stable 80fps , I miss read it was about about 60 hz somewhere. I tried several graphic setting in gta, the game is pretty fluid and I'm totally ok if I need to lower textures or something, my only problem but sad problem is that I get so many artefacts and flickering feel (sometimes stronger without knowing why, is it my graphic card dying?). Redering mode i'm at 1/2 rate , it is supposed to be the good one ? But I also have the problem in mono (but no problem in flat game, I double checked) . It's why I'm wondering about hz being important or not for that kind of problem ? Sorry again for me english :)

Lucas Vinícius

Hi Luke, I'm having trouble finding the VR mod file for GTA V Enhanced. I've found your GTAVE post on Patreon, but I've read through the entire post and can only find the link to the game on Steam. I can't seem to find the download link for the R.E.A.L. VR framework itself. Could you please point me to the correct download link or let me know where I can find it? Thank you for your work and for your help!

Darren Stoller

Buy it on GOG then downloaded the version that works.

Dawid Kolosowski

CP2077 2.5 update is definitely out of the question... though maybe with the current magic, it'll be possible to make a mod for CP2077 2.5 without a political war. It worked for GTA V, and here is an appeal to Luke and Brandon. Since GTA V runs smoothly, you guys will definitely manage to bring all the VR fanatics back to the Wild West :) Red Dead Redemption 2 is waiting for all of us :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

If you are on Steam, make a backup copy of your current game folder. Then after Steam updates the game, just drop the files from your backup into the game folder to revert it back to the previous version.

Brandon(Post Maester)

For 1/2, you need to hit 90fps or it won't work correctly, if your headset is set to 90hz. Mono should have much better performance than 1/2 by quite a lot, so you shouldn't be hitting the same fps in Mono as you do in 1/2 or something is off somewhere. If you are getting 80fps with 1/2, you should hit 90 with Legacy or Mono easily. If not, then there is something else limiting your frame rate somehow. How are you measuring your fps?

Lucas Vinícius

Hi I'm having trouble getting the R.E.A.L. VR framework to work with GTA V Enhanced. I have an active Patreon subscription and managed to find and download the R.E.A.L. VR ZIP file. I extracted it into the GTA V Enhanced installation folder, following the instructions in the “Special setup notes” section: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced" I also ran "RealConfig.bat", but the Command Prompt displays the following error: “ERROR: R.E.A.L. VR installation files not found.” I tried extracting the archive again and overwriting the existing files when prompted, but the same error keeps appearing. Could you please help me understand what might be causing this issue and how I can fix it? Am I missing a step, or could there be something wrong with the archive or the installation process? Thank you for your time and for your work on the VR framework!

lucia

Hi everyone... before I go crazy, has anyone here managed to get the LWE package working? This "cursed" file xinput1_4.dll prevents Luke's framework from running, but if I delete it, LWE won't load. I’ve tried countless things, but nothing works! THANKS!

Brandon(Post Maester)

Did you try adding in the version.dll that is recommended from the post? Looks like a couple people asked in the comments for a version that works with the Enhanced edition of the game. Have you tried it without REAL to make sure it works?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Are you using the download from the "early access" post? Not the public download.

Jean Michel VR

Ah ok good to know maybe l blocked at 80 fps on virtualdesktop and maybe my quest 3 frequency is not at 90hz I Must double check and to tests again, thanks ! (But you confirm more lines and flickering stuff if not at 90fps ? Didn't know i must smoke too much

Jean Michel VR

ohhh cool ok I could play at 90 fps (it not staying there long tho but when it is , it is wonderful). Sad to only have a rtx 2070 but it is so close to work properly....

Brandon(Post Maester)

Just to clarify, in case you smoked a lot today, 1/2 or 1/3 will not work correctly unless you are hitting the fps cap. So if you are set to 90hz, you will need a constant 90fps for 1/2 or 60fps for 1/3. They both still have some degree of artifacts, with 1/3 having more than 1/2 because it is interpolating 2 frames instead of 1. But they will also be much worse if you are not constantly hitting the appropriate frame rate cap while using them. 🙃🙃

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is there any kind of Epic overlay that you can disable? I don't have the Epic version. I would check to see if there is something like that. Also maybe go into Rockstar launcher and disable BattleEye there too...... Too bad it doesn't give you a RealVR log file, that would be helpful to see if it is just something with the Epic version specifically. You could rename dxgi.dll to dxgi_.dll to disable REAL and then run the game flat and see if BattleEye still starts. If it does, then it is not disabled. You will need to figure out how to properly disable it for that version in that case.

Lucas Vinícius

I'm honestly not sure whether I downloaded the public version or the Early Access version. I found the ZIP file on Patreon, but I may have downloaded the wrong one. Could you please send me the direct link to the correct Early Access download for GTA V Enhanced? I want to make sure I'm using the right version. Thank you for your help and patience!

JA

I think another open world racing title besides Forza to add one to the catalog would be awesome in this framework

Jean Michel VR

thanks for the infos, all clear ! I will just test miracles to be at 90 fps constantly (not sure if i tried the something-opic filter at X2 instead of X4)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Go back up and read over the post I linked, it will explain how things work and have all the links in there. It is worth reading because then you will have an idea of how things are structured and how to find them.

FlyingWaffle

"For accurate, intuitive ADS (Aiming Down Sights), don't forget to set your dominant eye. The default is right-eye dominant, which works for about 2 out of 3 people." Not sure what is meant by accurate. With the pistol, with right dominant eye, the pistol is indeed to the right, but it's not exactly down sights, and when I set left dominant eye, the pistol is basically in the middle of the view. For something like a shotgun, with left dominant the gun is quite on the right side.

Brandon(Post Maester)

It was really accurate for me when I switched to "down the sights" mode vs the dot. Maybe that changed after the fixes...... I'll have to try it again.

lucia

IT WORKS! In my own attempts, I had tried `version.dll`, but I hadn't gotten it from the site Luke mentioned, so I hadn't included the second file! THANKS SO MUCH, Brandon!

My framerate is stuck at 72fps all of a sudden. It's set to 90hz in virtual desktop. Doesn't makes any sense to me. It was fine before. Anyone knows what is going on?

EAST

Where do I check that? Is it somewhere in the Quests 3 settings?

EAST

Nevermind. I fixed it by restarting headset. I think what happened is Quest games Optimizer shut down and that somehow affected the refresh rate.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, just go to device in the Meta app. Any extra stuff running like that Optimizer is always good to disable when debugging issues too. Overlays or any extra input/game software.

JA

is the newest version of CD supported still with latest early access release

JA

Okay thanks for the reply, what is the latest version that still works together?

azur29

Hello everybody, is anybody found a method to use manual transmission or overs to drive with a gear width luke's mod ? i tried ultimate asi loader --> ScriptHookV.dll --> gear.asi (manual transmission), but the game hang. (without luke's mod it's running).

Brandon(Post Maester)

If you have the previous version of REAL before the DMCA, or the one right before that I think, they should work with the version of CP before this update. The CP update breaks compatibility, so there is no REAL version that works with it.

JA

Oh sorry I meant crimson desert

Brandon(Post Maester)

You need the Ultimate asi file to be version.dll. Luke mentions the workaround in the game post. That doesn't guarantee it will work but that has worked on some things so far.

Brandon(Post Maester)

HAHA, I read that as CP, not CD 😢 Yeah, the latest version should work with the current version of CD. Sorry.

JA

Lol no worries at all!! Thanks for letting me know before updating, still got to finish the game!

azur29

Thanks for your help. I misunderstood Luke's post. So, the file provided by ultimateAsiFile (dinput8.dll) needs to be renamed to version.dll?

2023 VR貓

I really need GTA5VR to support FSR. While DLSS looks beautiful, it lacks depth. FSR or pure sampling provides the most complete stereoscopic depth. Since the introduction of injectors, I've never enabled DLSS. I can't tolerate the compromised stereoscopic depth. I hope GTA5VR can improve its current lack of FSR support. Thank you very much

NutGobbla

well, to try to eliminate potential problems, i just bought and installed the steam version of gta ve. despite the fact that i scrubbed everything rockstar related from my computer and reinstalled everything fresh, it won't even fire up for the initial game run that the vr mod instructions say to do. i spent about 3 hours tonight trying to have claude's hoe ass diag it for me, but it ended up having me submit a ticket with rockstar since it says everything is good on my end. so for right now i guess i'm just waiting for a reply from rockstar.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Have you tried Optiscaler? You should be able to use FSR over DLSS.

AaronCLS

I have noticed some occasional flickers in GTAV, look like image distortions. They were a lot more frequent previously, but they still show with the latest REAL update. Never seen these type of issues in the framework before.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Haven't noticed any myself after hours of playing as long as I am getting stable performance. Are you hitting your fps cap? What rendering mode? What headset etc?

Jason Nobilucci

AWSOME WORK DUDE glad to see you are still at it which version is Supported?

Darren Stoller

I have, sent you two logs yesterday.

XERXES

Where is the download link?

realvr

No. Every file from Ultimate-ASI-Loader is different. You can't download dinput8․dll and rename it to version․dll, because it won't work. He provides separate downloads for each loader: just select the right one, which as I wrote is the Win64 "version․dll"

Brandon(Post Maester)

The enhanced edition latest version. Steam and Rockstar versions should work, not sure about Epic yet. Someone had issues with the Epic one, and I haven't seen anyone confirm it worked for them yet.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Is it a slight wobble that happens occasionally for you too Darren?

NutGobbla

nope, so it's not a problem with the mod. just keeping you updated in case anyone else runs into this. rockstar is saying that i don't have a steam license even though i bought the game on the steam store. still talking to them.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Maybe don't mention you are trying to use it with REAL VR ;) We don't need them to try another DMCA. Even though it has none of their code or assets, they can launch a DMCA just because they want to.

NutGobbla

don't worry, nothing has been said about vr. they're trying to say the full game i bought on steam is only dlc and that my epic version of the base game isn't compatible. what a load of shit. lol

AaronCLS

Quest 3 with link cable, 120fps steady (at like 3kx2.7k), legacy AER it is pretty much perfect, except for the occasional flickers.

AaronCLS

damn I am kind of curious now I got no complaints about DLSS but I'd like to see if FSR does it better.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Ha, good thing that guy is around. I thought you could just rename it, what a doofus 😉

Brandon(Post Maester)

Have you tried changing DLSS quality level? Like moving up to DLAA? Also, can you drop a link to a log file?

2023 VR貓

The problem I’ve encountered is a reduction in stereoscopic depth, and visually, it feels as though I’m viewing the world with only my right eye—which makes the problem even worse. Full stereoscopic depth: If there were 100 cars lined up ahead of me, I could feel the change in stereoscopic depth with each additional car. That’s the full stereoscopic depth of the world. When I’m driving, the scenery all around me seems to be coming closer to me, and I truly feel as though the entire world is indeed moving toward me. I don’t know why no one else has complained about this issue. My device is the HTC VIVE Pro. It has a binocular overlap of up to 90 degrees—the same as the PSVR2—and a horizontal field of view overlap of 98 degrees, which is significantly more than the Quest 3’s 66 degrees. Perhaps because of this, I need a greater binocular overlap from the output to match the effects I’m used to seeing with my setup. I took the admin’s advice and started using Optiscaler. Not only has this solved the problem, but there’s been no loss in image quality, and performance has actually improved. Now I’m fully enjoying GTA 5 VR—it’s absolutely fantastic. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

2023 VR貓

I just successfully ran Optiscaler, and from a stereoscopic perspective, I can tell it's really working. Thanks for your help.

renaming the file in version.dll made the mod running in flat mod. It's the same result visualy. it's more adventurous...Thanks Brandon

I have a problem with my mod. idk if it’s just because my pc is just not good enough to handle the mod. The problem is that everything close like my hands and close objects looks clear and good. but as soon as objects just get a little far away it becomes all blurry. I could best describe it as looking at a low quality video. Like distant buildings look really bad. And even the iron sights on my guns are all blurry. If you have any idea of what could fix this problem pls reply to me.

Hoshi82

So the new update broke the last version that had Cyberpunk 2077 in it. Also this mod was the only way to play it in VR for me since the other one is 6dof (right handed only) motion controller and I'd like to keep playing with gamepad. I love this game and it was the main reason I became patreon here for years. How likely is it, that this game gets an update from your side and be put in the free version of this mod, where it shouldn't cause any dmca issues? I really hope this happens..

azur29

No, in VR i can't use the gamepad (not the joystick) . And since I need to get into a vehicle to drive, it’s complicated...{after edit] I made a save in the car and test Manual Transmission. The steering wheel worked. The trottle the brake too it's very funny. The Gamepad itself is out of order. Bur it's a way to drive in VR just for the fun. but the gameplay itself is broken. the manual transmission menu in VR cause sometimes the program to crash. Configure it in flat mod turn arround the problem.

Leonhardt

after changing some settings, theres this white flickering, how to reinstall the mod?

XERXES

Is it possible to use DLSS 5 with this? I've managed to install and use DLSS5 with it in normal mode and I would love to try it in VR mode too. Any directions?

Brandon(Post Maester)

The cheeky foveated dlss addon may work or Optiscaler. I have an Opti fork I made that I will try to push out early next week with a video. It works with Luke's DL(S)SS fix and allows foveated SR, NR and RR. Also gets rid of the flickering with DLSS 5 NR.

Brandon(Post Maester)

That sounds like motion blur or depth of field being active possibly. using heavy upscaling with DLSS or FSR can also make things smear or blur further away but the sights looking blurry makes me thing you have one of those settings active.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I haven't tried FSR in this game but in games where I have tried it, like Crimson Desert, I don't notice any depth difference. I wonder if DLSS just looks blurrier in the distance than FSR or something like that, so you notice the depth less???? Not sure.

benjaboffen

Im pretty sure both motion blur and depth of field are off.

LA17

Are there any graphical upscale mods like natural vision enhanced that will work with the REALVR mod ? Or DLSS 5 ? That would be amazing in this title.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, that one does work. Just make sure to follow the post above where Luke explains how to run Script hook V if you need it.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yeah, a ton of DLSS warnings. Let me know if changing the setting helps for some reason. Or disabling DLSS or DL(S)SS and then turning it back on.

Tomo

you didnt copy the files on other drive and back after the update? that was the tip I noted fro B.

2023 VR貓

The main issue is that my vision is skewed toward one eye. I started experiencing this problem in *Final Fantasy VII Rebirth* and *Death Stranding 2*. It feels like I’m looking at things with only one eye, which makes it difficult for me to perceive depth. I adjusted the “AIMING FOCUS” setting, but that didn’t seem to help. Removing ReShade also had no effect. It wasn’t until I changed the upscaling method—anything other than DLSS, such as FSR, XeSS, or turning it off or set anti-aliasing to TAA or TAAU—the issue improves (though sometimes selecting TAA or TAAU doesn’t help). This does make ghosting much worse, but it’s still far better than losing the sense of depth. So I’ve had to play *Death Stranding 2* and *Final Fantasy VII Rebirth* this way. Since my left eye’s vision is worse than my right, I suspected this might be a personal issue. However, I tried switching between 3:1 and 2:1 ratios, which caused the visual bias to shift to the other eye—so this isn’t related to a difference in visual acuity between my eyes. To figure out the problem, I switched back and forth between upscaling and anti-aliasing modes more than ten times, watching very closely to try to pinpoint the difference. I kept switching between 3:1 and 2:1 ratios to confirm this phenomenon. I’m absolutely certain this issue exists. After enabling OptiScaler in GTA 5, everything improved. Now I’ve been driving along the coastline all day (>w<). I asked the AI, and it said this is called the “dominant eye.” I then asked if the display output could cause a dominant eye issue, and the AI said that Asymmetric Projection causes this problem. I asked the AI about the connection to DLSS, and it provided a link to a community discussion: https://www.reddit.com/r/assettocorsaevo/comments/1r2qwjq/ did_they_fix_the_dlss_one_eye_bug_in_vr/?solution=1b75a2e450e5df7d1b75a2e450e5df7d& js_challenge=1&jsc_token=2824be10929bdc604753c70a67a1c331071df6a9db69f6c3acaa59c95730d055&jsc_orig_r= AI suggests switching from DLSS mode to DLAA in GTA 5 VR. I’ve tried this before and saw some improvement, but it still wasn’t enough. However, this suggestion—and the results it produced—proves that the issue does indeed exist.

Hoshi82

Thankfully I have it on GOG and they provide all versions before the newest update. I should be able to downgrade. But it would be nice to have the new outfit and bugfixes + VR. :)

I'm trying to run Manual Transmission v5.9.1 together with the R.E.A.L. VR framework in GTA V Enhanced. My setup: GTA V Enhanced 1.0.1158.13 (file version 1.0.1158.16) Manual Transmission 5.9.1 ScriptHookV July 15, 2026 build Ultimate ASI Loader 10.0.0 x64 (version.dll) Luke Ross R.E.A.L. VR Both mods work independently: GTA V Enhanced + Manual Transmission works perfectly in flat mode. GTA V Enhanced + R.E.A.L. VR works when ASI plugin loading is disabled. When both are enabled, the game freezes or crashes while entering Story Mode. The Windows crash report shows exception code 0x80000003, with GTA5_Enhanced.exe as the faulting module. Gears.log also reports: [ERROR] [Memory] Couldn't find TimeScaleAddress1 However, Manual Transmission works in flat mode despite this error. Is there a known compatibility issue between Manual Transmission and R.E.A.L. VR? Could both mods be conflicting over game memory hooks or initialization? I can provide the full logs and crash report if needed.

like do you mean the resolution in the gta 5 settings? i think its set to the default resolution that comes with the mod. i tried fiddling with it but making the resolution higher makes everything lag and doesn't make any big difference anyways.

For me the game runs fine using DLSS (+AER2), but then when I turn DLSS off (which I would prefer because I find the stereo glitches of DLSS very distracting and hard on my eye balls) the renderer starts freaking out (either immediately or after a few seconds/minutes) by flipping between 3D and 2D many times a second. - Rerunning the realconfig bat doesn't help. - Restarting the game doesn't help. - Rebooting doesn't help. - I have the latest nvidia drivers. - After changing a bunch of things like the resolution, or/and switching to AER Legacy, and then back to AER2 can somewhat temper the issue a bit, but eventually it always comes back. Using AER2 with its optimization flag (forgot what it's called) on or off doesn't make a difference. - Switching back DLSS ON (in the same session) instantly fixes it. - All my other settings are as per recommended and the rest is on High (using Very High doesn't make a difference on this issue). - resolution doesn't seem to really make a difference, so I don't think it's frame rate dependent (while the renderer hasn't started to freak out, I can run at 4800 x..., still smooth at 90fps) - as far as i remember, the first time I turned DLSS off, it seemed to work fine, and then I started boosting up a bunch of other options under graphics (shaders, lighting, grass,..) and then the game told me that those changes required restarting the game (which it can handle automatically) and it was after that restart that the issue happened right away for the first time... but originally i may have been lucky for a few minutes and not get the issue. I'll take a second look at what option is the one forcing a restart and whether its setting is having an effect.

Brian Phillips

Anyone know how to fix it running a flat theater screen while its also doing full vr. It starts to run normal on the intro screen but as soon as game starts it bugs out.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yes, what is the resolution there that you are playing at? So, I have a number to go off of. If it is really low, things are not going to look good. Especially if you are using upscaling on top of a low resolution. But I can't say without having some kind of number :)

Pinchas Halevi

I'm so hyped on this guys work and those like him. Now VR is headed in the right direction, where a single dev can bring to life that was never even considered before.

2026-10-27 08:00 Hello. Is there a way to disable DLSS without the game becoming a glitchy mess? Even using DLAA, it adds a slight blur/ghosting effect which drives me nuts, so I'd really like the option to go back to using TAA. 🙏

It was realrepo file but also quarantined all files related to REAL VR in gtave, i had to allow permission manually for each file for it to run but it was saying its a trojan, ive always got warnings but first time It flagged it as a trojan and quarantined it

Brandon(Post Maester)

Luke has been a single guy doing this work for years. No AI necessary 😉

Brandon(Post Maester)

Have you tried FSR? I did let Luke know about the issue when disabling DLSS.

sherman james

My game crashes to the desktop once I see the r.e.a.l vr mod ui. I never get to see GTAV E. Can any one help? I'm using steam openvr. It does the same if I use pimax openxr. Ive done 2 frexh installs of the game and get the same issue.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Try disabling Steam Input if you have the game on Steam. Are you using Sboys3's SteamVR driver? You should use OpenXR runtime for that or use Oculus if you are not using that. REAL uses Oculus runtime for Oculus compatibility mode for Pimax headsets if you are using a standard setup. Just make sure you have the Meta Link App installed on your system and PImax set as your OpenXR runtime and auto in the REAL overlay should use Oculus runtime.

sherman james

The problem is that I never get a chance to manage the R.E.A.L. VR overlay, this is when the game closes on me. I tried loading through sboys and the regular pimax way. I also have the quest set up on my pc. I did a fresh install twice, but it crashes at exacly the same spot.

sherman james

I just did a bit of testing , and I found out that all of my game that are using Lukes mods are not working. I'm not sure what the reason for this is, but I gotta find out.

Brandon(Post Maester)

So probably something in your headset setup somewhere most likely. Did you make any global changes in the Nvidia app or anything like that? Try setting your OpenXR runtime to Oculus and see if that fixes it. If you are set to use OpenXR with Sboy's driver, you have to manually set OpenXR runtime in the RealVR.ini file or it will probably crash like it is now for you. Because REAL is set up to use Oculus runtime by default for Pimax. Under the [RVR] section of the RealVR.ini file. PreferredAPI2=0 change that to =2 That will set it to OpenXR. It depends on the route you are going to go. If you are going to play through the Pimax software normally and not use the Sboy's, then leave it on auto and use Oculus, not SteamVR set as OpenXR runtime. If Sboy's and SteamVR, then you will need that workaround for now.

sherman james

I was looking for how to change the run time in the RealVR.ini, but the only thing that shows there is [RVR], with no setting beeing there at all. I thought that this was really strange so I went to my virus protection but I didn't see anything obvious. It has to be something of that sort for all of the games to stop working and for nothing to be in that file. I was just playing Spider-Man a few weeks ago and ghost of toshima with no problems. I did try changing the runtime to oculus, but that didn't help either, I had the same crashes. I think something is affecting the mode after I unpack it.

sherman james

Yes that file is there I will, i will check it out. I also had my son download , spider man and onto his computer , I used the exact same mod file and it worked perfectly on his. I had been doing some vectorxr and ofxr stuff here recently, i'm thinking this may have something to do with it. I'm sure I disabled them but I'll check to make sure nothing is running in the background. I'll update you on what happens. Thanks

janyses

I'll try it next time. I assumed that FSR was only for AMD systems.

I’m trying to look over the Patreon and I can’t find an answer one way or the other, I think the answer is no but does anyone know whether or not REALVR supports Cyberpunk anymore? Or was it removed after everything that happened at the beginning of the year?

Jason

No worries at all! Got it working. About 40+ hours in already so good! Every hour or so I need to restart b/c game starts to slowdown then. Can't figure out exactly why it's happening. Nothing else on my PC is open and I have a 4080 super, 9800x3d processor and 64gb ram on a Quest 3 via virtual desktop connection.

Landon Treece

I know the answer to this is probably also no, but is there any chance that it would be added back to the supported games list in the future? I understand after everything that happened at the beginning of the year why it would be removed from support, and now that we’re many months removed from that debacle it would be really nice to see the game that made this software so famous come back, especially with the new Cyberpunk update, I and so many others are no longer able to play it in vr unless we don’t update the game. Sorry to do this in the comments of another games post, I just haven’t found anywhere on the Patreon that talks about this

JA

could be changes to ms defender not sure if others had the same issue, also is it ok to update in steam GTAVE?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I don't see any updates for it currently.... So, unless there is a new update today that isn't showing up for me, then it should be fine to update. Haven't seen anyone else reporting issues with it being flagged 🤷‍♂️ UEVR gets flagged for me every time I grab a new version. Always has.

FlyingWaffle

Hi Luke, trying again to report my issue: All works fine with DLSS, but when I turn it off, no matter the other settings, after a while (sometimes immediately, sometimes later) the renderer starts flipping between 3D and 2D many times a second. It appears that it could be area based, and direction based. E.g. in an area it only happens when I look in certain direction. When I switched on ray tracing wit DLSS off, I thought the issue went away, but when I went to the mountains it started happening again. Turning on DLSS instantly fixes it. I tried a lot of things, like rerunning REAL setup, closing the game, rebooting, it doesn't matter. Turning all settings between normal and high doesn't make any difference, rez doesn't make a difference. REAL VR AER2 optimization on/off makes no difference (I'm using AER2 1/2 frame). Going to AER legacy doesn't make a difference. It's a shame because I realized that when DLSS is off, I can turn on ray tracing and boost the framerate quite a lot (as long as ray tracing reflections are off, that seems to be the highest cost in ray tracing techniques), and ray tracing also gives the same kind of anti-aliasing that DLSS on gives, but without the cost, better resolution, and none of those weird 3D glitches you get with DLSS. The only thing I haven't tried is clearing the shader caches, because it seems it can't be done for the game specifically, and you have to clear them for the entire NVidia and DX caches (which sounds painful).

sherman james

The problem went away when I uninstalled pimax play evo, disabled sboys 3 and restarted my pc. All game started working except for ghost of toshima, which was also working great. No, I'm just trying to figure out how to get GTA to look a bit sharper

Brandon(Post Maester)

Ah, did you leave OpenPort enabled? Doesn't matter now, glad it is working :) Did you try disabling Steam Input for GOT?

FlyingWaffle

A few things 1) after trying 3,790,450 combinations of graphics options, my conclusion is that "grass" is very significant, and on medium (the lowest) it gives a pretty significant performance boost, I was able to use DLAA and everything else on high or very high, and it runs smooth (90fps) with pretty great rez. 2) Another situation where gaze aiming seems broken is the mission with Trevor when they attack the airstrip and escape on a plane, with Trevor on the wing (it's not impossible but pretty hard with any sort of accurate aiming) 3) DLSS off still broken for me, it looks like whenever I'm facing something (could be happening whenever any sort of water is rendered, I'm not sure), the renderer goes nuts and constantly switches between VR and 2D, and it all goes back to normal when I face a different direction (or turn DLSS back on). No other option makes a difference.

Zappologist

Thanks Luke and Brandon for the new versions. I just wanted to report about GTAVE, I have the same issue as FlyingWaffle with the image going crazy, in 2D/3D and flickering, if the DLSS setting is not on. Unfortunately, for me this also happens when I select AERv2, only 1/2 is playable (but with artifacts and lag, so not worth it ). I tried lowering settings, thinking that it's happening because I cannot keep a high enough frame rate, and this might be indeed the case but I cannot confirm. It's also strange if that's the case, i switched to 1080p and lowered critical settings like shadows, etc. But Luke even recommends RT in this game, which is usually a performance killer, so I doubt the issue is with low framerates. I play on TV with VRto3D, and I usually can play all REALVR games with AERv2. I'm just reporting this as an additional datapoint, in case it helps Luke with addressing it, especially if it's a bigger framework issue, a recent regression, etc, and not related to GTAVE. I won't bother playing the game, as I still have the option to play GTAVLegacy with Geo11. For me personally, no amount of visual candy is an acceptable trade off to the perfect smoothness of frame-synched 3D.

Jason

Quick update on the gradual FPS drop I reported: this now looks more like the Quest/Virtual Desktop streaming issue than a problem with REAL VR itself. I’m running GTA V Enhanced with Luke Ross REAL VR through Virtual Desktop on a Quest 3. After about 40–60 minutes, performance gradually drops from 120 FPS to around 75–85. Found a workaround that’s worked twice in one session: 1. Pause GTA. 2. Press Shift + Windows + D to switch Virtual Desktop out of VR. 3. Wait a couple seconds, then press it again to return. Keep REAL VR enabled throughout. Our recordings showed recovery to roughly 120 FPS both times, without restarting GTA. This works wirelessly too. The symptoms seem consistent with the Quest decoder issue VD’s developer describes here: https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/1uvbhkj/comment/oxb9nxr/ Hopefully that helps anyone else running into the same thing.

XERXES

New update for the game came out today; Build: 25971420. Can anyone confirm if it breaks the mod or not? Thanks.

Brandon(Post Maester)

I don't see an update on Steam, do you have the RS launcher version?

Darren Stoller

Small update on steam, working fine.

VRt

Anyone tempted to use the DLSS5 mod with 20/30s cards be careful, I got a black screen lockout, my VR runtime is screwed up so getting a black screen on every VR modded game that uses reshade. Apparently it's causes by the newer Nvidia drivers plus REAL conflicting with the mod. I had it working until I upped the resolution.

DDVR

GTA V + AuraV mod + DLSS 5 (OptiScaler). It works.

David Gohman

I tried installing GTAV E, I ran it until the first mission started. then exited, put the latest mod folder/files in the root directory with the EXE file, ran it and it looked like that went well, but now when I try to run the game it's complaining about not having direct x 12, which I do have. I tried updating my nvidia drivers, restarting the PC but it's still complaining about not having a compatible graphics card (I have a 3080ti). Has this come up for anyone else? I feel like I must have missed a step?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Can you put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin or drive or something that allows you to drop a link to it here?

David Gohman

I'm not seeing that log file anywhere in the root directory for GTAV Enhanced... I feel like I'm getting my error before it actually launches the injector? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is doesn't show up in the main game folder, then it is not injecting and possibly not even trying. Do you have BattleEye disabled? Do you have any other launcher commands in besides those? Does the config file run without any errors?

Hoshi82

Elden Ring won't launch anymore with the latest mod version after the recent update. Game starts without the mod but not when instaled. Here is the log file: https://pastebin.com/uCXmRxeY

Hoshi82

I mean it works when clicking go online without problem but clicking run game in vr results in an error.

sherman james

Hey Luke, thanks for the GTAV mod. You did forget one of the most important features which is "GYRO STABALIZATION". The driving is nausiating without it, especialy when playing in a motion rig like I do. Is there anyway that you can bring that feature back. I hade to go back to the old mod because of.

benjaboffen

I think it’s like 2700 x 2700 or something. I can’t say precisely because I don’t have access to my pc rn. But it could also be the vr headset itself. I use an old quest 2 that has some weird graphical issues sometimes when just playing standalone.

David Gohman

I think Battle Eye is what's running to begin with.

Brandon(Post Maester)

You need to disable it. If you look at the post, Luke gives launcher commands for that :) If you are on the Rockstar Launcher version, you should be able to disable it in the launcher settings.

David Gohman

That makes sense... Knew I was missing something. Yep, that was it, now I just have to fix the auto save not working...

NukNukOne

Just finished GTAVE story mode. That was fun!!!! Thanks!! So, I just got Elden Ring for my next VR trip (to keep me busy while I am waiting for RDR2, wink wink nudge nudge, Luke :) ). I found a mod on Nexus for Elden Ring that replaces TAA with DLAA and can also do Upscaling. Anybody knows if this specific Nexus Mod will work with R.E.A.L VR and Elden Ring? Or will the Nexus mod break the VR runtime conversion?

NukNukOne

Dont know where to go with my question: Just got Elden after finishing GTAVE. Got it working out of the box. Next day, it does not work anymore. The Real VR Frameworks starts up when I start Elden: I get huge Elden Window is openend, but it stays completely white, then it closes and nothing happens. The game does not start, nore does REAL VR. Did not change anything since yesterdays, except turnign off my PC before going to bed. Tried reinstalling Real VR, even reinstalled the game. STill the Same white screen, then nothing....Anybody any idea? Was hopening to bridge the gap between me finishing GTAVE and waiting for the RDR2 update ;)

Mr X

Really enjoying this mod 👌 i would also love to use steering wheel with this mod, would this be possible?

Moose

Not working for me!?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I am reinstalling it to try. Someone else reported having an issue with it too, so I'll let you know :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

It is working for lots of people, so you will have to be more specific 😉 What error/s do you get? What happens? Did you follow the game post and disable BattleEye?

AARON WOOD

Hello, it may well be I'm being a bit dumb and missing something basic and obvious, but for me, with the files set as they're meant to be, the game just crashes on startup. It goes to a black screen, as if you think you're gonna see a loading bar, but then just closes. There is the note about the Frame Generator setting needing to be off, which I ensured it was having disabled the mod, but still once re-enabled, it just crashes. I turned off all Ray-Tracing/NVIDIA-based options just in case, but still no luck. The only thing could potentially be the existence of ScriptHook, which I have installed for the Chaos Mod, but it's not clear this should cause such an issue. Not sure if it's relevant, but when trying to load from inside VR, it was in theatre-mode in SteamVR. Any thoughts/advice?

Brandon(Post Maester)

ScriptHook can crash the game if you still have its ASI loaders in there. Look over the special setup notes in the game post above. It talks about this specifically and the workaround for it.

AARON WOOD

So I've gone ahead and downloaded the version.dll as instructed, and it's in the right place, but I now immediately get a pop up saying "This application is not supported by the R.E.A.L. VR Framework." The RealRepo folder clearly contains the correct files for GTA V. Tried this with dinput8.dll & xinput1_4.dll deleted from the folder as well as in (since it doesn't say to delete them). Should I also download these versions from the UltimateASILoader site? Doesn't say to.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Are you using the early access download version? Not the public one right?

AARON WOOD

Yeah, Early Access. "REAL_VR_by_LukeRoss_v2610.16.2_early_access"

Moose

Its ok,sorted it. Stupid battleye🤙

PostalDude

I was supporting you from some time and I didn't stop even when I figured out that my PC was too weak at that time to play supported titles at that time ( I had RTX 3070). I was still a member even when you get into issues with copyrights of some titles. But unfortunately, from perspective of time I have to say that it is not fair to make mods that are barely working without strong advise to support you only when you have very powerful PC and the same with choice of the games: today, we have lot of modders who are creating for completely free VR mods for Batman series or Dying Light or Forza for example, even my favourite Hitman series. I think you made choices of games depend on your likes or dislikes: but I personally hate new Doom and have no interest in Horizon or Souls games...

Brandon(Post Maester)

And it is GTA V enhanced? Also, make sure you are double clicking the config.bat file, don't right click and run as admin.

AARON WOOD

Yes, of course it is the Enhanced version. I might jot be an expert, but I'm not stupid. And yes, as per the instructions, which I did state I have followed all closely, I have not run config as admin by double clicking it.

AaronCLS

How's Crimson Desert looking these days, did the developers ever fix their ugly denoiser thing? I got to a part in the game sometime back that I could just not bear how grainy it looked. So I just decided to uninstall and wait. REAL's depth and everything was perfect, it was a shame the game itself had that issue.

Brandon(Post Maester)

Did you grab the x64 version.dll file? It might be worth doing a fresh install of the game first, just to establish a working baseline. Or remove ScriptHookV and any other mods you have installed. Do you have any other launcher commands in other than the ones Luke recommended? I will never assume you are stupid, but I will base myself in the reality where you, I or anyone else can make simple mistakes and miss simple things :)

Brandon(Post Maester)

Well, it was broken badly by the DLC update, so there is that :) But no, they haven't made much improvement on the graphical issues front.

AARON WOOD

Yeah, I'm gonna try a fresh reinstall and see if I can get the VR working first without any other issues and then see about adding the other mods (Choas Mod & Crowd Control) and seeing if/when it breaks from there.

AaronCLS

Thanks, Brandon. What a shame, it is a fantastic game. Guess it wouldn't hurt to wait a little longer

Brandon(Post Maester)

Appreciate all the support! All things considered, installing and using REAL was mostly pretty simple. Of course, every game can have its own quirks and I doubt that has changed with the new wave of VR mods. Some of them seem pretty good and some just don't. The landscape has shifted and there are lots of choices, but some of those choices are very much work in progress ones. Mainly, you should play whatever you enjoy in VR. I think that is what people will start to do now that there are so many options. I stopped paying much attention to what is coming out now and only pay attention to things I would actually enjoy. Luke can't pick things that would make everyone happy, that isn't possible. Your own list of things you don't care for includes some of my favorite games 😉 and the DOOM games are widely loved. It is no different from native VR options. When there aren't many, you are more likely to try ones you normally wouldn't because you want to play games in VR. When there are lots of new ones, you are pickier. That goes for pretty much anything 😊 I for instance, won't even bother with people adding motion controls to games I have already played through in VR. It is not enough to justify another playthrough unless it adds things like real world physical interactions with everything but also still fits the game. Dark Souls with motion controls is just a hard no, it is not the same game. Same with Elden Ring, not the same game. There are still a lot of great games supported here. In the end, you should play what you like though.

Shadow

The release(s) of "version.dll" from GitHub cause an error from the latest all the way back to 9.7.4 The error is: "This application is not supported by the R.E.A.L. VR Framework." However, if you go to the following Nexus link and download the "version.dll" available there I was able to boot up normally. https://www.nexusmods.com/gta5enhanced/mods/689?tab=description

RossH

Using v2610.16.2 (and older 2608.26.2), I am unable to get Crimson Desert to display properly in VR. The game appears in a large 2D window, with alternating L/R image overlays, instead of 3D VR. Pimax Super micro-OLED/Sboys3 driver (using PreferredAPI2=2)/5090/9950X3D/96 GB. I reviewed Luke's configuration suggestions, but I did not see anything applicable. Any suggestions, Brandon?

Brandon(Post Maester)

Yups, it was broken by the DLC update. Hopefully a fix coming soon :)

Hoshi82

Any luck yet?

Brandon(Post Maester)

I tried the latest test version I have, and it didn't happen with that. So, it might just be this version. Do you have an older one to try?

Hoshi82

I am the one with the same issue :)
