In case you had any social lives left after Cyberpunk 2077, this is going to take care of that little problem for you. Modding it certainly took care of mine []-D

Soon! This will likely be a work-in-progress for quite some time, but I'll be doing my best to have a first playable version by the end of next week. Keep your VR legs in shape, because they're really going to be put to the test *_^

Neither did I! I'm still not sure that first person will work throughout the game, and there are quite a few wrinkles to iron out yet, but it's coming together

Even third person mode would get me to play it in my headset, but first person would be just insane.

It's very good in the dungeons, not so much in the open areas. Unfortunately the engine doesn't offer much in the way of customization, as most graphics options make very little difference in terms of performance. The game is still being actively patched though, so there's hope

I love the series but I just don't think first person VR is good for them. If the camera could be made to be just like your characters eyes maybe so you could actually see your hands and weapon but HZD style is just not going to be good for first person weapon combat in this in my opinion. I guess I could respec as a magic user though. But kudos to you for doing it all the same :)

After more than 150 hours of this From Software "fun"... I still have to finish my first playthrough . I don't know how it could be playable/enjoyable in 1rst person mode. But thank you for this announcement... I Guess... This game is a stepstone in the history of gaming but I couldn't have played the whole thing in VR. The bestiary and the atmosphere of ER are way too depressing for this. I ll go for a full RDR2 VR run (never played the game) after beating that flat Elden beast ...

I completely agree! And as a matter of fact, this time I attached the camera to the character's head. If you look closely at the video, you should be able to see the bobbing that comes from it, especially when I walk fast. That's why I was commenting about the need to have our VR legs in top shape :-D I'm still tweaking it so that for instance you can actually do things like covering behind your shield. Of course third person will also be an option.

Luke, this was the game I was hoping for the most. I didn’t think it was a possibility because you mentioned it wasn’t your type of game. I love playing this game on my TV and have almost 300 hours already, but I’m so interested to try this in VR. Some of the areas with huge insects will be super creepy and the boss fights will be insane. You couldn’t have made a better choice. I absolutely can’t wait for this!

I can't wait to try it out, the game of great but super hard, this will add something new, I was never keen on only having third person and in VR I prefer 1st person 99% of the time. After this any chance of working on the last 3 Assassins Creed games Luke? or somewhere down the line basically you are to only one making open world VR games, well turning flat screen open worlds into VR open worlds, It seems VR devs are just too scared, We had Stormlands and then nothing.

Phew...was a bit afraid. As much as I love first person but after finishing Elden Ring and knowing the bosses... fighting against them in first person would be... it's a reason this game is third person. Will explore in first person nevertheless ^^ Excited to cover it on my channel :)

I think he already said it was more work than it was worth. It is a much shorter game than RDR2. There will hopefully be dlc's but still. Hopefully in the future someone will figure out a solid VR antialiasing option.

I played the original dark souls game years ago and loved it, it was very challenging but very rewarding and memorable so this should be amazing in VR. Mods of games with big fanbases like this one will be sure to convert a lot of people into VR gamers too. Well done Luke cant wait to try it.

Well, rdr2 WITH dlss is his first mod, that i actually like (although I tried them all). So the worth for me is huge - and makes all the difference between "AAA VR experience " and an "AAA game with another disappointing VR Mod".

I haven't bought Elden Ring because I just don't think I'd like it much. Never have been a fan of the dark souls difficulty formula. Good decision on giving it the VR treatment now though since it is a very popular game, but I do hope the next conversion is for something that is already played from the 1st person point of view. I'm still hoping for something like Kingdom Come or Far Cry series. Hope this turns out great for Elden Ring fans though!

If you play in offline mode, there are programs you can use to circumvent the frame rate limitation.

For me, virtualdesktop performance was terrible. I tried it just a few days ago with the latest mod, and it stuttered to the point of being unplayable. i know it's supposed to work now so I'm probably doing something wrong

Here's my two cents: I would prefer to have games that are originally designed with first person in mind to get a VR mod. I know Elden Ring is popular, but I am just not interested. We currently have entire series of potential top experiences: Far Cry, Metro, Bioshock, Crysis, Halo.... These I think should have priority.

Will it be possible to smooth out the head bobbing? Also I know all the mods use Alternate eye rendering, but will it be possible at some point to have the game render without it? It really messes with my head when I tried some of the previous mods. I know you need to do it for perfomance reasons, but maybe with DLSS and next gen cards it will be able to push these types of games without AER?

The farcry games work pretty well with vorpx z3d (except that having your head emulate mouse movement makes it impossible to hover over certain icons on a map and read the text). I found farcry 5 in particular to be really immersive. I too would love to see that game in REAL VR some day.

I've been fine-tuning the first person camera all day, and I can tell you it works surprisingly well for a game that clearly wasn't designed with it in mind!

I get where you're coming from, guys, and I also love old FPS games. But in the end Nick Brimble (a few comments above) got it exactly right: "Mods of games with big fanbases like this one will be sure to convert a lot of people into VR gamers too." That's the end goal. If we do this right, there will no longer be a need for modders like me, because once the market hits a certain size, studios and publishers will finally put out their own official VR versions of AAA games.

The shimmering in CP2077 is far less annoying than it was in RDR2. It only gets bad if your resolution is set too low, especially if you're using DLSS. Unfortunately fixing it would take LOTS of time and it would be a fruitless investment, because CD Projekt RED have already announced that they have abandoned the engine and will be switching over to Unreal 5 :-(

The latest version of VD should be working correctly, but not in SteamVR mode. What performance problems did you have, Bob? Low frame rates or bad image quality?

Haha. Cyberpunk DLSS fix gets the motion-controller treatment...I understand that it would take too much of your time to kill the dlss shimmer completely, but would there be a few lines that would fix a little of it? Like you mentioned the mane of the horse in RDR2 taking a ton of time...would there be a low-hanging fruit that could reduce the shimmer a bit? If nothing else, just see that people really did appreciate that fix since you worked so hard on it in RDR2- many people are discussing how impactful that fix is and how DLSS is making triple-A VR a bit more possible.

Yep AER has only a few drawbacks, DLSS incompatibility is one. Nanite may also cause limitations with UE5 (I don't know, but I've heard Nanite needs work for VR). Resolving those issues is a part of your special sauce Luke!

hey luke, i'm looking forward to your new vr mod but in the meantime i wanted to play some cyberpunk With my Pimax 8kx but i can only play with version v3_2_2 all the versions above that dont work. When i tried it i can get in the game but when i am in the game world the mini map in the right corner flies away and the hud is also gone i also can't read the conversations from the main story anymore. Please fix the issues and thanks in advance! your doing a great job for the vr community!!!

I applaud the mad skills and courage to take on such a tasking. What I do scratch my head about, though, is why a high end game like Elden Ring? Your previous posting on 'The State of VR' brings out a point of how VR is 'high end/expensive', thereby limiting its appeal to the wider masses. Until I can upgrade my rig to a higher-end graphics card, Cyberpunk is a pipe dream, and I'm confident Elden Ring would not be any better. I see you as being as potentially being an incredible influence on expanding VR access to a wider audience (e.g., those not having a RTX3000 or even a 2000 series card) as Meta is doing with the Quest.

Hey Christian, must be something going on with your install. I'm able to play the latest version just fine on my 8KX. When using the latest version did you re-run the config bat file and try the deleting settings option?

I bet he just had a lot of requests for it? I do think the far cry series would be a good pick next, gives an array of lesser graphically intense and more intense options. There is a fella currently trying to build a mod that will allow people to play and make profiles for UE4 games in VR, so that will hopefully bring a lot of options for high and mid level games :)

See I'm kinda the opposite. I love seeing my character there in the VR world, fully realised with depth and scale, and being able to survey their surroundings so easily in the headset. Senua's Sacrifice was one of VR's finest back in the day I thought. That said, the option to toggle between first and third was brilliant in HZD! I'd love to see God of War or even some of the Assassin's creed games given the VR treatment!

It's more of a BOTW type game than a genuine soulslike I think. Get stuck? Just go somewhere else and get some better gear or stats. It doesn't really present the roadblocks to enjoyment that the other souls games had. Works really well.

Disables Anti Cheat and sets you to offline mode without you having to tinker around renaming the exe files or the steamid file. So you should be safe using mods without risking a ban.

I also cannot reproduce the issue here, Christian. It's most likely a conflict with some other mods. You might also try verifying the game files with Steam

The mod will come with a "tourist mode" to allow for exploration without the need to engage in combat! Of course for story progression you will need to defeat some baddies. But I do have a few tricks up my sleeve :-)

I really LOVED the first Assassin's Creed games (up to the Ezio trilogy which was where the series peaked for me) and I really hope that Ubisoft is going to make a good conversion of the first one, fingers crossed!

I play on PC. So I can just do one hit kill. Opinions aside, Far Cry 6 is factually by a wide margin the best game in the series and definitely the best game of 2021. I’ve never met a single person who played it and didn’t love it.

I could agree on the story...it's cryptic and often difficult to decipher. The graphics are ...adequate but the art style and design choices more than make up for the lack of graphical bells 'n whistles. But it's the gameworld and gameplay that sells it for me. Sprawling world, with bespoke, novel and interesting content behind every hill and a gameplay mechanic that makes you struggle just enough to feel you are achieving something concrete when you progress. Definitely a gamer's game.

I checked with HZD and CP and the sound seems to be much better now. Graphics are now on the same level as with the workaround (additionally in my case the black square of shame is gone :3). However, I did no long sessions, so I dont know how it behaves in a longer session, but as far as I could not observe any difference between the oculus renderer and the steam vr renderer anymore. :)

What happens on the PC version that you can have 1 hit kills ? Modded ? > I’ve never met a single person who played it and didn’t love it. So the 3.6 user score on Metacritic is people that didn't play it ? Do you work at Ubisoft ? Do you have Ubisoft shares ? PD: The fact is that FC6 wasn't the GOTY in 2021

what is fixed?one thing i noticed in rdr 2 was with the oculus fix i had 10+ more fps for eg at 3900x3900 from 51 to 60,is that the case?i still didnt update pitool since everything works fine.

Here is my suggestion Luke and others for the next game. Keep it open world but what about a racing game? Forza Horizon series or The Crew 2? (a few others would be great Batman Arkham series, GTA4, Death Stranding, ACO, ACO, ACV Shenmue 1&2 Or The Witcher 2 & 3)

According to 277 patch log, they fixed some steamvr driver issues without going further into detail - I checked how the mods behave after the update and i cannot see a difference between the workaround by oculus renderer and normal steam vr. For me this has a huge impact, because I am running the headset on an AMD 6900 XT and the hex-fix for the HUD outlining using then workaround did not work for me. TL;DR --- I got same performance after PiTool Update compared to the workaround with clear picture and without any distubances through the HUD

Wicksley, download the zip at the bottom of this post https://www.patreon.com/posts/solution-finally-64880625 find which folder the exe file is for your game. Unzip downloaded files into that folder. One of the files extracted will be named realconfig.bat. double click that file, it will install the mod. Start game after that and it will run in square mode on your desktop ready for VR.

Lol this game is sick. I cant wait for this mod! take your time, I know other games had updates and caused some havoc. Are there any plans to add VR support to the Final Fantasy VII Remake? This is the only thing in life I look forward too, other than Tifa's boobs. After playing with your GTA5 mod, I knew I had to become a supporter. We can tell you're onto wonderful things. Keep it up bro.

Technically 2 3/4 as I'm still running around with my third character (have intentionally not killed the final bosses). Played originally as melee (that was hard), then a mage (easier) and currently a mage / melee (pretty good though a couple of areas cause issues). For the 4th will probably give a faith build a go. :)

Just watched the cas and chary vid. Mod looks similar to hzd with the rolling. She was strugling with it lol. If it gets to hzd level of imersion it will be spot on. But looks like the rolling needs some work
