Hey friends!

It's been a while since my last post, and I figured I'd give you a small update about what's going on.

This post is gonna be mainly about the new engine.

First, I'm glad to say that the engine is complete! Of course, some code could use a refactor regarding how I've written it, but most importantly, that it works!

I've been testing it for the past week, and I haven't encountered any significant issues.

Not only that, but I've also managed to fix some of the stuff I've said I'll be postponing till after the new (content) version!

I've also developed some quality of life features (for development) that could speed up my progress when implementing new (content) versions into the game.

I've also finished converting V0.1 and V0.2, and Alex's Insta to the new version.

I keep running into minor bugs when testing the (content) versions themselves because there is a lot of logic to move from one engine to another. Still, I hope I'll manage to catch all of the game-breaking bugs before release.

So what's left?

Main menu - I tried designing it myself, but I suck when it comes to user design. Gladly someone reached out to me and offered to help and gave me a mock-up that I'll start working on tomorrow. (I don't know if he wants to stay anonymous or not, if not, I'll give him credit for his hard work!)

Saves - I'm still thinking of a good user experience for the saves folder. Right now, I'm using the Renpy(ish) way to handle the saves. But since LSS has many routes, I'm trying to think of a way that could be convenient for you to handle saves for each route.

Settings - I need somewhat of a settings menu to let you guys choose if you want to "skip unseen" words and such.

Other platforms - I'm currently developing the game on Windows 10, and it works great. I've also tested it on a Mac virtual machine, and I haven't encountered any issues. However, I still need to try it on a real mac pc to get feedback for an authentic experience.

Mobile - I've developed the game to fit all platforms except IOS (because apple). This version will be released last because some stuff needs to fit only for mobile (there isn't a mouse wheel, for example).

Content?

While converting the game over, I've realized it's an excellent opportunity to refactor some images and lines that could use a rework. And I feel it's a good time to do so since all the saves files will be obsolete and couldn't be transferred over from the previous engine.

While I'm not planning to make significant changes, I feel the beginning of the game is lacking, so I might change some stuff to make it feel better.

This is where I need your help!

Some people over discord already offered their help, but I need more.

If you are interested in helping me test out the version before release, please comment here or send me a private message mentioning your operation system. And I'll send you a version once it's ready.

I'll just need you to run it and tell me if everything is working as intended.

P.S: If you have any suggestions on anything regarding the stuff I've mentioned, or in general, feel free to reach out to me. I'd be happy to listen and make the best user experience I can for you guys!

Cheers,

TTrick.

Happy to help with the game test, Macbook

DEB

I'd be happy to test if needed, can bare-metal 3 OS': Windows 10, OSX (2014 MBP--kinda old), Linux/Pop_OS (Ubuntu-based). Not sure if you were planning a Linux release, it is my main OS. I can get most non-native games running via wine, proton, or other witchcraft. Excited to see the progress good luck!

Prowl

I am on a Windows 10 machine and would be happy to help. I'm excited that progress is moving forward and can't wait for the release.
