Hey guys!

As you might have seen, the replay Gallery won the poll for the project I'll be working on.

I've already started it, but since I want to deliver the best user experience I can, I would like to get your input on something.

My plan for the replay gallery is to show the scenes that you can unlock as a blurred picture, and once you reach that scene in one of your playthroughs, it gets unlocked.

So far, pretty straightforward.

However, in LSS, the same scenes have many different variations.

Take Ann's first BJ, for example. That scene can occur with "corrupted Ann" or "Shy Ann," and you'd have different choices and dialogs.

So, what do you think is the best idea to let you know a scene can have more variations?

Not-so-good ideas:

I don't want to overwrite the scene every time you do a different playthrough.

I don't think it's a good user experience to show the same picture 4 times just because it has variations.

One idea I have is once you unlock one of the variations for that scene. Then, I can display a preview screen and write something like:

"Scene variations unlocked 1/4"

And in the same screen, let you choose what variation you want to see (if unlocked already)

I've taken a look at the code of some other games. They usually have their naughty scenes as one variation, so the replay they present to the player is always the same, so they don't have that problem.

I would love to hear your suggestions since this tool is for you and should be easy to use and user-friendly!

Cheers 🍻,

TTrick

I think its ok to have just 1 variant, so you dont habe to much work to do. :)

DarkHorizon

How about using subfolders by path and when choosing a scene a short questionnaire about previous choices to get the variation you want. EDIT: And you could indicate the not yet unlocked variations by greying out the appropriate choices.

Maybe once you unlock the scene you have to option of the dialogue braches to pick from idk how easy that is to code (my vote is the easiest option)

I think your own suggestion is the best options, Once you've seen a variant of a scene, unlock it, and show the varians's unlocked and let the player choose from the unlocked variants, it'll probably also encourage people to look for the variants they have missed.

One question, is Vanessa waiting for somebody to help her "think"?

I second what Hary said. The recommendation you stated in the post seems spot on with the direction to go. It would allow us to see how many variants a scene could have which would encourage multiple play throughs to achieve it. Another option if your not keen on your recommendation could be establish sub sections of scenes. Example: Ann Corruption could be a category and only show scenes that correspond with the corruption state
