SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submit an mp3 and please put your artist name in the file name. 100 MB upload limit.

Submissions don't need to be professionally mastered to be considered!

You do not need to use all the sounds provided, though without the vocal used in some way, it might not resemble the original enough to be considered the original. Feel free to only use the vocal and completely redo the production.

ANY genre is fair game. Make the remix YOU want to make!

PRIZES

The winner will receive a 30-minute Zoom session with me, a cool T-shirt, a mastering of the track by Shawn Hatfield (if you want, totally optional), and top placement on my remix YouTube playlist! Then, we'll figure out the best path forward for sharing your remix more officially, whichever avenue(s) we both feel great about! And maybe I'll also make you a fun certificate of rem-ixi-fication. Runner ups will also get recognition and will be featured on my remix YouTube playlist!(T-shirt somethin' like this!)

TERMS & CONDISHIES

I retain the rights to the original recording, song and lyrics, but it feels wrong to say I own 100% of the rights to what your remix, so let's share. Regardless of whether or not you win, you can post your unofficial remixes on YouTube, Soundcloud, & social media (with credit), but please do not distribute via streaming services or post on Bandcamp without my written permission (ixi@iximusic.com). Also, by participating, you agree to not sell the stems or claim them as your own, okee? Okee. Awesome! (NOT that I think you would do aaany of this, but I gotta be ixplicit)

No, it won't count for the contest, but you can freely make a cover of any song! Just be sure to purchase a mechanical license if you plan to release it officially.

I'm curious about this too. I'd love to get the full unmixed multi tracks versus the fully mixed stems. Leaves a LOT more room for creative freedom.

How much does mixing count? Is it like the mastering situation, or does it matter more? I have a somewhat unusual way of doing it for the genre I'm working on 😅 Also, what does remix title refer to exactly?

When you say how much does mixing count, meaning will I factor in how well it's mixed into my decision? If so, I'd say it does count somewhat unless you're planning to have a pro mix it if it's chosen as the winner, then I can hear through that! As for remix title, it could be something like "Calling Me Back In (Alstoic Remix" or "Calling Me Back In (Fly High Remix" or whatever ;)

Hey ixi, I'm working on my remix now, but would it be possible to get a copy of the Calling Me Back In single art? I'd like to post my remix on my YouTube regardless of whether or not I win (with credit, of course!) and would like the single art to use as the background image for the song video for YouTube. Hi sorry I missed your comment! This is what the mixing engineer sent me. I'm not comfortable giving out the completely raw vox from my session. In the future I will keep this in mind though, I can totally understand why the fx are not ideal.

Yes, but enough people expressed confusion about if they are allowed to add their own production elements so I clarified. To me it's still a remix, totally. If you replaced my vocals with your own then I'd call it a cover. You can submit a second remix if you like ☺️

Glad to hear that!! If you like these kinds of prompts, we do them every month on my Patreon and then I listen to them in a video! Not typically remixes, but I'll give you a theme, scale, sample, or something like that to start with.

Not all of them, just the ones submitted by my paying Patrons, because we do a musical challenge each month with a video review. We made this remix contest the June and July challenges!
