SUBMISSION CRITERIA:

One request per person.

Must be the last full track from the original release of an album (not an outro, not a hidden track, not the last track from a special deluxe version, not a live version of the album closer).

No song length limit, but please still be mindful of length. Every 10-minute song is eating up the time for 1-2 other songs, so I may fade your request out at an appropriate point if we're low on time!

Submit in comments under this Patreon post before the stream starts.

Only requests with a link to the song on YouTube as well as the title and artist will be considered! I will not be taking requests in the live chat.

No originals please - we have dedicated streams for this 1-2x a year!

See you there!

Artist - Nitin Sawhney Title - Beyond Skin Album - Beyond Skin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggRTAgl5y4A A wonderful ending to a great album, the fusion of his British downtempo/drum n bass sensibilities with his ancestral Asian music. The album starts with the India/Pakistan nuclear testing that had been happening at the time (1999) and runs backwards to end with this track and the Oppenheimer quote from when nuclear weapons were born.

Artist - 65daysofstatic Title - Radio Protector Album - One Time for All Time https://youtu.be/zeFl5BBkvss This is the song that made me try my hand at making music of my own way back in 2007.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3wTZrliJk0 Artist: Everything Everything Title: Weights Album: Man Alive (debut from 2010) Length: 5:12 (track is 5:40 but the end is room tone) -- I can't claim this is their best or most popular closer. I do think it's a fun way to end a song, album and gig (which is how I first heard it). Continuing to build until Jon runs off the end like he doesn't know how it ends. I'm actually suggesting this because it's been a loop round the Sun since an interlude not called "...ellipse..." drew "_Arc_" and EE back into my consciousness. After a year binging everything Everything Everything, they're one of the few bands whose entire discography (lyrics + debris) now lives in my head. "Don't Try" might make more sense given Arc is where I stopped listening in 2014 and picked up again in 2025 but I'm saving Alex's remix in case there is a hidden/exclusive stream. I think it's interesting foreshadowing for Raw Data Feel and Mountainhead would sound, buried on Arc.

It’s not the album closer for Ok Computer, though?

Aetherius

Did you mean Street Spirit (Fade Out)? That's the last track from The Bends. Exit Music (For a Film) is from OK Computer, and it isn't the last track of that album. Either way, I do love that song!

Klors

You're right, I did! Serves me right for posting while working :) Too many Song Titles (In brackets)

Klors

yay 65DOS! coincidentally Laced sent me an email saying they've posted their No Man's Sky: Journeys this morning

I won't be able to see this live, but I'd like to re-request my superchat from Sunday: "The Darkest Star" by Depeche Mode. From "Playing The Angel", 2005. Not my favorite album by them, but probably my favorite closer. It's very harmonically rich, lots of interesting chords and use of dissonance, very haunting production, and a great slow build-up to the climactic chorus. And as always, incredible vocals. (You can fade out around 5:50, there are no significant musical developments after that.) https://youtu.be/Wq1m6Xlxsa8

the tourist ok computer or street spirit the bends

I love this theme! I made a playlist in 2012 of all of the final tracks from my favorite albums at the time because I noticed that even if the album was banger after banger, the closing tracks were almost always slow and sad. I’ve been paying attention to that trend ever since! Here’s my pick for absurdly sad and depressing song to close out an album of absolute bangers: DRUGS EXIST by HEALTH from DEATH MAGIC: https://youtu.be/7ZS4_VWkcwU?si=h6Er3h3zoN_ZRc1e

Ooh this is a good one. I haven’t thought about album closers in a while. This is the first time I’ve requested a band twice, but this album is so good and relentless. It was heavily in rotation back in my metal band days. This album makes me want to get a drum set 😭 Scarlet - Apocalyptic Love Song https://youtu.be/P2IFWZnlayw?si=S-guabyd5pj4VpEW

Someone's already requested Street Spirit (fade out), so The Tourist!

Arashmickey

Closer by Nine Inch Nails ;-)

Klors

never heard of it :)

Ruben S.Rodrigues

Artist: Massive Attack Song: Hymn Of The Big Wheel Album: Blue Lines https://youtu.be/O7Cn7dyXjEI?si=u-3uxstLanBsELwM After giving it some thought, and since it was already on my shortlist, I’m requesting this track. It's the one that closes Massive Attack's 1991 album Blue Lines in its original version (and not the one that closes the 'Blue Lines: 2012 Mix/Master' version).

Dire Docks

Dashu (Liu Shui) by Li Xiangting English: Greater Heat (Flowing Water) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5j118T5XnY From "Li Xiangting's Guqin and the 24 Solar Terms — Summer Edition" This is the final track of one of a series of four concept albums that pairs each of the 24 Chinese solar terms with a traditional or newly improvised guqin melody. Greater Heat is the name of the solar period (begins late July) and is the last (and hottest) of summer; Flowing Water is an ancient melody with its own rich history.

It took me a while, but here it is ;) : „Gold Dust“ by Tori Amos on „Scarlets Walk“

Tool - Third Eye https://youtu.be/51fcG3sxvII?si=AsqJFX78WYEIoXFg As unique and intense as they come, especially for album closers. It is, of course, a 13 and a half minute song with no good place to fade out. Not sure what you can do with that, but knowing your love of Tool, hopefully it can be the whole thing!

Klors

actually as someone else had requested Radiohead I changed mine, so either :) though you should include a youtube link

ixi music

I do love TOOL but this would be better for one of our longform song livestreams!

Quinzhee Jones

good. lord. this was my favourite from the stream. I'm going to check out the album.

beatcomber

Glad you enjoeyed it. I saw that the song had less than 1,000 views on YouTube and felt nore people need to hear Phonem.

John S

Fair, Ill pick something shorter next time!

evolutionQ

It is probably the best album ending of all time though.
