UPDATE: Thanks so much for everyone's feedback! I'm going to keep the monthly Patreon streams as they are. I'm really glad you love the intimate group and the different vibe it provides! And, I may experiment with an additional public stream that includes only requests from Patrons, pre-requested on a thread posted here. I feel like that's a good compromise and it protects what we already have and hold dear!

As you all probably know, once a month we have a special livestream here for any Patron to request a song prior to the stream. Sometimes they are "any song" streams and others are themes/prompted. I was thinking that sometimes it might be fun to invite the public to come, but they can't make a request. SuperChats would be disabled. How much do you enjoy these streams because of the intimate group? What's your preference? Voting is anonymous. You can vote below and also add commentary in the comments.

To the mods: you wouldn't need to moderate (I would), and we could just ignore people requesting songs who haven't read the title, description, or pinned comment, heh!

I like the intimate group, but I wouldn't mind giving it up for whatever expands your audience/income the most.

Personally, I feel the patron only stream is a safer and more controlled space. Some folks might feel more comfortable to pay the Patreon fee in order to avoid some of the occasional issues that public streams bring, and feel safer to participate. I wouldn’t really want to lose that, but happy to trust your judgement on this ixi.

Could always give it a try and if it doesn't work shut it back down to just members.

So far my experience is that there is a lot of spam, requests in the chat but also useless criticism and elitism (NIN is the greatest, what is this BS?! and so on) Not everyone is as open minded like our little Patreon Ixians ;)

The intimate setting is a draw, but I don't think I'd be too averse to it being public

I really enjoy the more intimate space of the patrons only streams. I feel like I'm able to engage with them more than the public ones where chat moves super fast. What about keeping them separate but also having a public "request a song" stream one Sunday or Wednesday using the same format as the current public streams?

There is value in having a shared music listening experience with your fellow patrons. We know each other, we enjoy each others company and it is a great way for new patrons to feel welcomed in the community. The intimacy is a valuable perk to being a patron. However, I know from personal experience how public streams, even on Twitch can be a great marketing tool for the creator. It might entice the public who are attending the stream to want to join in even more and become a patron so they too can suggest a song and enjoy the experience in a new way. But in my experience, as a patron, this dilutes the fun cos it's a bajillion people trying to participate at the same time. I'd prefer a patron-only experience, but I'd be okay with the occasional public stream.

I don't mind either way, but a case I might make for at least testing out the public option is that while it would be less intimate, I don't imagine it would be the same vibe as the regular public streams either. Could be wrong, but I feel like not allowing public requests would filter out a lot of the spammier elements many are concerned about

I like the free-to-join listening party that plays requests from patreon only. I like the smaller group in chat, too, even if it's quieter. I like both, that's my vote is "fine with me sometimes"! Another angle is going with smaller groups when you have a focus in mind. I'm guessing people generally want small groups for flat sixies lessons and monthly challenges. A narrower focus on a lessons or theme, or for try-outs and test streams. Then bigger groups for... bigger listening parties, more casual less guided. I hope people won't mind trying stuff out a few streams, that usually helps. Good luck!!! edit: reading other comments here, and because there's few patreon-only streams compared to the public ones, i'll change it to no opinion. For the small crowd in a comfy place vibes.

Arashmickey

Glad you said so, comfort and vibe count and I don't want that reduced. Once a month isn't many compared to the public streams. I'll change my vote.

I started to be a rare guest on Listening parties and I hope to fix it soon. I appreciate them for cozyness and intimacy, but it is okay for me to have them public from time to time because we still will have you with your furry friends with us :) I guess it will be good just to know if the party will be public or closed a priori~

Klors

I’d also be more than happy to moderate them more actively to remove any requests made in chat, negative comments etc if they were public
