Well it was a tie between this album and Amon Tobin, but there have been a ton of requests for Confield on my channel for the past year, so we'll start here. All tiers are invited for this special stream.

This stream replay may be edited down and published to the public channel.

That's great... I am reasonably new to Autechre.. I am a big fan of Tri Repate and their remixes of other artists, I have struggled to find a way into their later work . It feels overly complex and intimidating? , having discussed with others i don't think i am alone, the people that get it seem to be a bit smug in my experience, Cornfield is my current homework befor going to see them live in September, I wold really appreciate your insights into their work, I just became a patron (big BoC fan so I had to see you hearing Inferno for the first time , a joy to experience🙂), so your timing is immaculate... as always... looking forward to joining you all on Saturday

I'm glad you figured out how to de-tune your piano to be able to play along with Boards of Canada. I can't wait to watch you dismantle your piano and pull out the wires and reconnect them while twisting your instrument into a non-Euclidian shape to be able to play along to Autechre.

Favorite album ever! Excited to watch.

It's interesting that you (and many others, to be sure) consider listening to something like Confield to be a thinking exercise, or scientific. But for me, it's music that is best felt and not thought about. Or at least, I leave it for my subconscious to think about and process, while I turn the rest of my brain off and let the sounds wash over me holistically. Trying to parse out "what is this key, what is this time signature" etc. can almost become a distraction, sort of missing the forest for the trees. To put it another way, their songs to me are more like worlds to live in, than puzzles to solve. But I loved this video and I'm not trying to do the "you are listening to this wrong" thing lol. If anything I think you tapped into some of my favorite elements of some of the tracks way more than I would expect anyone to on a first listen. And I especially appreciate that doing a blind listen of an album like this live in front of an audience is hard as hell and you do it a hundred times better than I ever could. Maybe listening to the album in the dark with no pauses between tracks is my preferred way of taking it in, but that wouldn't make for a very good watch for viewers lol If I can offer my opinion on a potential next Autechre video, I would say either the album after this one, Draft 7.30 (from 2003), or their third album from 1995, Tri Repetae++. Draft is in a way like a continuation of what they explored on Confield. It's a bit more aggressive, a bit less abstract, has crispier production. It has one of their most beautiful ambient-adjacent tracks ('Surripere'), and some of their sickest beats ('6IE.CR'). And then Tri Repetae, their third album, is notable for being the album where they took their first major step toward their hyper experimental sound they explored for most of their career. But it is much easier to follow in terms of holding onto rhythmic and melodic centers. Kind of the grand bridge between their earlier relatively straightforward stuff and their eventual brain breaking stuff.
