I wanted to do something for The Fragile's birthday earlier this week, so I did an improvisation session with The Great Below. I didn't end up with anything I liked in time. My words were "I made too many unforgivable mistakes". But it's funny how I always hear what I make with kinder ears the next day. Let this be a reminder to ask your inner critic to sit down when you're creating anything (it'll get its chance later!). And when you're recording a take of something, finish it, even if you think you messed up or just think it sucks! Might be better than you think.

Having said that - do you think this is good enough for the public channel? haha. ;)

"The Great Below" NIN piano improvisation

"I can still feel you...even so far away." One of my all-time favorite super special NIN songs, improvised and explored on piano. I love all the flourishes you’ve added! That’s very pretty. I also play this song and kinda struggle with how sparse the opening section is. You’ve made it sound really interesting without straying too far from the essence of the song. :)

Thanks Jillian! Yeah totally, it's not easy to replicate the movement of that wonky pad or sample!
