September's Reese bass was delicious - watch the video above to listen to the submissions! Great work y'all. I mistakenly missed Kiwillian's submission. Here's the link if you'd like to take a listen after watching the video! https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/yybxcps2n38i0guouvnb2/Kiwillian-Join-Us.wav?rlkey=fvceoj0n3qdzd37a1wv0r4iww&dl=0

Now onto October!

The challenge is to take the melodic theme from John Carpenter's "Halloween" and make something that no longer resembles that theme.

For example, this could mean changing the pitches but preserving the rhythm, keeping the pitches but completely changing the rhythm, changing the time signature,  removing notes and replacing them with rests, heavily harmonizing the melody, reorganizing the notes, playing with the accent patterns...or if you'd prefer to sample the recording and mess with it that way, I'll allow it! If you're wanting to challenge yourself as a composer and instrumentalist, try not sampling it.

Notes: C# F# F#   C# F# F#   C# F#   D F#

Rhythm:  straight 1/8th notes of equal duration in a meter of 5, accent patterns grouped as 3-3-2-2.

HINT: the easiest way to make a melody unrecognizable is to change the rhythm significantly.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Please put your name in the song title somewhere and submit via this Google Form. If your song is on SoundCloud or includes a visual component and is on YouTube, you can put the URL in the "Notes" section.

The challenge is due on...YOU GUESSED IT, Halloween night before you drift up to sleep...muwahahahahaha

Let me know if you have any questions!

It was so cool to hear this iconic sound used outside of its natural jungle/d&b habitat. Very well done, everyone! Now I'm kinda bummed that I missed out on this, might mess around and come up with something cool outside of the challenge though.

Nice work everyone. All of them sounded great. If I had the rig I’d try to mix them all together…real time, like not on a daw😀
