First, we go back to Oct 11 2009 at the Battle of the Bands in Columbus — Then we jump forward to May 2 2024 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York: the same song returns live after 15 years, and it hits different.

In this full-length reaction I dig into how the performance changed over time, how their stage presence evolved, and what “Trapdoor” means for them now compared to then.

So they do use backingtracks when they perform, because they just can’t play every instrument at once. And the black on Tyler’s hand and neck is paint he puts on for the shows (symbolising his insecurities), not gonna explain more, don’t want to spoil the lore ;)

Ooohhh…interest peaked. Thanks for protecting me 😂 I won’t read ahead I promise.

As Marisa said they do have to used backing tracks as Tyler only has two hands! Rest assured Tyler plays all the parts (except drums of course!) and creates the backing tracks himself. After they became a two piece Tyler taught himself a bunch of instruments, most recently lead guitar during the pandemic. There is a web series on their offical you tube channel that came out when Regional At Best was released and in part one Tyler talks how they will now have to rely on technology to make the shows work.

I've come across so many interviews and extra content from them. I can't wait to dig in.

MM, I’m so excited for your journey through TØP’s discography. I can’t wait for you to react to their MTV Unplugged! Not to get too far ahead of ourselves - it will be a while, haha!
