The Hype carries that mix of hope and pressure, and the music video brings it to life in such a down-to-earth way. The visuals feel like a reminder that growth is messy, progress is slow, and sometimes you just keep going even when it doesn’t look impressive to anyone else.

Thanks for taking this journey with me.We’re eating good. 🍽️🎶

I absolutely love this video for the symbolism. I agree with your later take, it's showing their career, as they rise to fame and then them coming back down to earth. The song actually tells this story too. In the first few bars the drum pattern and bass line is very simple...they were learning their instruments...then when they move into the second room where they have more people actually paying attention, the drums and bass are a bit more complex, and more so again up on the roof. Up there, at their peak (Blurryface) they have huge crowd, everyone is dressed like them (this happens at live shows), then after they literally 'blow up' they fall down to earth and rebuild. I think of that part of the video where they take the pieces and make something new as representing the hiatus when they shunned all the attention, and making Trench - as you said, they just became two best friends from Columbus making music again. Sorry to write so much!

Tyler let us into his “ interior world”. Aka.. “ there’s a screen on my chest”. I actually love how even though they blew up with Blurryface, they decided not to go with more “mainstream” music and decided instead to meticulously put together a concept album full of lore that made the whole clique come together to try to figure out, thus creating one of the tightest fan base in the world! To this day even during the preshow interview at the Rock and Roll hall of fame when they performed, Tyler talked about ( paraphrasing) not worrying so much about casting a wide net over the top of the fans to reach a wider audience, but focusing on those in front of them who already are invested and love the music!
