JK Stewart

There are sooooo many clues throughout this video! Don't blink!

JK Stewart

Now watch it live! And I'm sure they picked up the cup. 🙂

Chad

Your one of us! Good catch on the store signs 😁

Wanted to say that I think now after the MV for Backslide I recommend that you should only then just watch the MV for The Craving (single version not Jennas version) and Paladin Strait when you get to them, skip the other MVs for now and just listen to the songs. Watch the rest of the videos through the Clancy MV premiere livestream they did on their channel. On the livestream they show all the MVs in order starting from Midwest Indigo through to At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb talking and giving info before each MV including behind the scenes info. Highly recommend watching the MVs in this way if you haven’t started on the others yet🙂👍. Also hope the comment made sense…

Honestly even if you don’t watch it like that and watch all the videos normally I still recommend the livestream even if it’s just in your own time👍

Make it with Alex

I’ve recently been to this shop, they have the tv inside that they run the mv on… soo cool

Going into a bit more detail here than on you tube as I feel I can speak more freely here about the religious aspects of their songs. For me this is very much a song about faith and backsliding as in 'falling away' as well of course as other layers of meaning relating to mental health, bad tendencies etc. I'll comment on the faith side of things as I'm sure you'll get lots of info for the other meanings of the song. I don't think you clicked on the annotation for the part about the water being over his head and reaching his hand up saying that he should have loved 'you' better. Genius refers to the story of Peter sinking in the water in Matthew 14 and I really do think that's what the chorus of the song is about. "I should have loved you better, do you think it's time you should let go?' the you I think is God. Tyler feels he has fallen away again and thinks God should just give up on him. This is a theme in the Lore of Clancy and Breach, for those of us who think that one layer of the story is Tyler's struggle with his faith and finding his way back to God. I think 'I used to be the champion of a world you can't see. Now I'm drowing in logistics' as well as being about juggling the complexities of the Dema storyline, many Christian clikkies have told me the world we can't see is God's kingdom that Tyler used to sing songs about and 'champion' much more blatantly. Now he has to hide his faith in his songs and the Lore more subtly . I apologise if I got any terms wrong. As I've explained before I am not a Christian but I very much see the faith aspects of the songs, but may use the wrong words!

This video is actually full of symbolism but it does take several views to pick up on it...eg: the changing seasons as he has a kind of flashback that he shakes himself out of, the wasting of the food and drink, the little boy with the Blurryface voice at the lemonade stand. On the front of the shop is also Velma's Vapes - Velma is Josh and Debby's cat. And Bayou on an outline of Ned's head - Bayou is like Ned's second name - it came from the way Tyler sang 'so deep Ned Bayou' at live shows as the reverse of 'we are Banditos' when performing Nico and the Niners. And the band went on to name the Ned Merch store 'Ned's Bayou'. I think that is one fun way that the fans 'wrote the story' like Tyler said in the Zane Lowe interview.

Haha yea kinda figured you most likely record most of the vids way ahead of time, guess it was kinda just an “incase you haven’t” type of thing😅. But like I said in my reply even if you just watch it in your own time, makes for an interesting watch🙂

Peepli

Idk if you noticed but he starts off the video throwing away a plastic bag, so he's had to go back and get bread a few times by now 😭 bro cant keep his bread

Musically Malnourished

The reference to Peter makes sense. I thought about it during the song. Do you think the Ned’s Breads could be tied to how Ned (creativity) earns him money? Could also be why the lemonade stand also accepts bread? Kind of continuing the thoughts of being pulled between creativity for creativity sake and the creativity that earns him “bread”?

Rebecca Collins

You’re totally one of us! Because he’s stuck in a loop/ cycle, I hypothesize that he’s only eating a bit and discarding the rest and leaving breadcrumbs for himself so he can recognize that he’s been there. The bread is also labeled Ned, so maybe he’s not satisfied with that particular bun “aka a song or chord progression he’s working on” as we know Ned represents his creativity.

I love these angles! Didn't even think of that! P.S. that's a pretty sorry looking burger that Josh is grilling up. 😂

tine sess

I personally 💯 percent think that that tracks

Good catches!!! There is also a dangerous bend symbol graffiti outside

Lena

It's kind of a running joke that Tyler tends to make Josh work (suffer) in the MVs (Heavydirtysoul, Fairly Local, Chlorine, Oldies Station, etc. ). Therefore, in Backslide, Josh took revenge and sprayed Tyler with water and leaves

Michael Ross

You got me! I had never noticed the signs in the window of the FPE convenience store! Good work, MM!

Michael Ross

And Josh makes Tyler the gopher to pick up the hamburger buns, haha!

You are absolutely a Clikkie now.
