Justin Mendenhall

Original founding members of the DMB are: -Dave Matthews (Vocals) -Carter Beauford (Drums) -Stefan Lassard (Bass) -Leroi Moore (Sax) • Moore died in 2008 because of an ATV crash -Boyd Tinsley (Violin) • Left the band in 2018 due to a sexual harassment suit. Him & the band parted ways because of it. Added as an official band member in 2008: -Tim Reynolds (Lead Guitar/Electric) • Was added “officially” in 2008 after Moore’s death but Tim is basically the band’s ‘extra’ OG member. Although he was never an official member of the band until ‘08, he played live show with DMB since the early 90s. Also Dave & Tim play separate acoustic only shows when the band isn’t in touring season. This has been happening consistently (yearly) since the 90s. (Look up some Dave & Tim concerts - Radio City Music Hall would be my suggestion) Also added in 2008 to replace Moore: Rashawn Ross (horns) Jeff Coffin (horns) Added in 2018 to replace Tinsley: Buddy Strong (keys/organ) The band didn’t add another violinist or fiddle player, instead they just play those same songs with keys replacing the violin. Hope this clears up what you are seeing and the different variations of the band over the years.

I really enjoyed the keyboard player that kind of replaced the violin guy. He’s really good and he’s very expressive.

I really hope you bought tickets!!!!

It's emotional stock and it's paid off beautifully for me!!! DMB is my favorite band and I'll forever be grateful that I'm alive to witness, embrace, grow from, grow with, grieve with, dance with, LIVE with their art.

44:30 "you just wanna listen with your eyes closed and then your eyes open" I can't tell you how many times I've caught myself at a DMB show with my eyes closed. 😂 I think it's a natural instinct when you're fully embracing the moment & music but yeah 😂 I've had to tell myself many times to "open your eyes!! They're actually right there in front of you!!" DMB shows are the closest we're gonna get of a flashback of the 90's irl. Of course people pull their phones out (theres a private fb group that LIVE streams ALL their shows. Just ask and I'll show ya how to get an invite. It's the only reason I still have FB 😂) BUT the atmosphere is like a huge dysfunctional family picnic. There's lots of bracelet swapping, shared meals, dancing like nobody's watching, hugging strangers, and joints being passed randomly.

I'm a lifelong DMB addict. Welcome to the ride. It's wonderful to hear you appreciate the complexity and passion that make DMB so magical. The transitions between members of the band has been seemless. I love the old sound, but the seriously keep getting better. Catch a show, it's life changing.

I've seen him all over. If I could only see one place, the Gorge no doubt number 1. Best two nights of my life.
