"Kanye with eye patch" is Slick Rick 😂 One of the more interesting vids you missed was the making of "99 Problems" with Rick Rubin.

Thanks! I think that clip was really long and is from the documentary. I had it in there but took it out because it said it was from it.

You're 100% on point with the sports metaphor, it's very apt. Probably the most common allegories for rappers you'll see used are to various basketball players in particular; been that way for years siMPLY because there's so many parallels between the two. Like, even down to how in modern times you see a lot more older players in the NBA than you did historically the same thing is happening right now in Hip-Hop -- the best rap album of last year (they literally won the Rap AOTY Grammy) was "Let God Sort Em Out" by Clipse and their first album dropped in '02. Pusha T is 48 & Malice is 52 IIRC. Edit: Also, I cant say all this without saying Hip-Hop is quite literally a sport. The only inherently competitive musical genre, part of why we love it so much

Me almost passing out at you thinking Slick Rick was Kanye. Slick Rick is such a legend and one of the greatest story tellers ever!!!

For some history: Eyepatch guy is a legendary rapper named Slick Rick. He's like the OG best rap storyteller. At around this time, Jay-Z had taken over that mantle as the best rap storyteller, and it's kind of amazing that they met. I didn't know that.

I hope you’re able to do the fade to black documentary ❤️
