I swear I must be a little bit psychic, because I just re-watched the Rocky and Rocky II reactions like two days ago and was wondering if we'd ever carry on with the series.

jmundt33a

Skip V. Or prep for Cinecringe for your own sake.

Byron

The frolicking in the water scene is one of my favorite scenes in anything ever

Dan

He's not just Rocky, he's actually a Rock.

Rachel W

When did they react to Rocky2?

Lyonheart86(BryonH)

wwe was wwf.. they changed their name in the early 2000s cause of a lawsuit from the world wildlife fund/foundation over the initials

David Olden

Typo in the YouTube title (it reads “Rock 3 -YouTube …” … Patreon title is fine) Fans of The Rock might be disappointed🤷‍♂️

Will D

"great montage"...lol. wait until the next one

ShoNuff3000

85 scenes have been filmed in TV and movies at the same address as Mickey's funeral in Rocky 3. The Prestige and the Al Pacino movie, Simone being the most interesting.

JoeE

In the 70s Muhammad Ali boxed vs a pro wrestler. On the undercard, chuck wepner, the inspiration for rocky, fought against Andre the giant

JoeE

Now that you’ve seen this you should see Ted 2

Brent

FINALLY!!!! Please keep going!!! Lol :D

Christina Doxstader

It's funny that you mentioned Andre the Giant because the guy that inspired Rocky, Chuck Wepner. fought Andre in a similar fashion and guess who was in the audience?

Stephen S

RIP Carl Weathers

jmundt33a

Was it Wepner that Andre head butted and tossed out of the ring? I thought it was somebody else.

scott melton

WWF was first. They got sued by World Wildlife Fund, and had to change their name. (Worked for a related company, we got a bunch of subpeonas to produce anything related to the term WWF). But also got backstage passes to a WCW event, and have a pic with The Big Show.

Here I am, with a comment that has its own theme song: Cornershop's "Lessons Learned from Rocky I to Rocky III" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ds1bS_Wwphc 0:01 "There's nothing boggier than bog." Except for bog, of course. 0:35 "Does he lose it? Or does he win it?" Yes. 1:17 The Cold War? George, please don't be silly! These are movies about a (very) simple South Philly Guido who's a boxer. How and why on earth would you mix global geopolitics into this? If you want Sylvester Stallone to take on the Soviet Union, go watch Rambo! 2:26 These particular sequels have recaps because we Sylvester Stallone aficionados ain't too bright, duh. In fact, we don't even know what the word "aficionado" means. 2:47 Mr T as the challenger? I'm dubious. He's a Clubber, not a fighter. ... Alright, I'll show myself out. 3:30 - 4:07 Well goddamn! You managed to work a geopolitical allegory into this! :-) :-/ 14:00 In real life, Stallone actually was some thirty pounds lighter (than announced here) at this point. Supposedly. 15:38... There but for the grace of God went (goes?) Rocky... 20:46 There's a good case to be made that Clubber Lang is the best fighter Rocky has faced thus far. 23:15 "Gorky"? As in "Gorky Park"? George, what is this obsession of yours with Russia? We're dealing with the Great American Sport of boxing! There will be nothing Russian-related in these movies! 23:22 "I pity the fool"? Of course this isn't the origin of the phrase; Mr T is channeling David Bowie! 23:40 An Apollo-Rocky rematch? Now Simone is being silly. Come on, let's be realistic here! 24:41 Rocky boxing better "than the first time"? Much better than any other time! 24:49 Say, have I told you about the time I kicked this Uruk-Hai helmet that was lying on the ground? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084602/trivia/?item=tr2049578 26:54 Ring the bell, sucker, school's back in! 27:06 So you consider Rocky 3 to be the second-worst. I see. I shall not sit here and be insulted to my ... screen. Toodles. :-)

Yes, I am quite aware that the YouTube reactions are in no way supposed to be a substitute for the movie, and that one cannot fit everything in them. That said, here are three moments I missed: 1. Mickey setting up his joke culminating at 7:07. 2. 18:33 Paulie's comically un-self-aware next line. 3. Adrian's ringside smile during the training montage. In my head-canon, she's delighted that Rocky is finally learning how not to block punches with his head anymore. Again, this was not a complaint. 😭

CD

Thanks for the reaction G&S. Fun as always! I’ll use THIS 3, to reiterate…you should get around to Godfather 3. As I said elsewhere: it pales compared to 1 & 2, yes; but it’ll not be the worst movie you ever sat through (by a long shot). You really should polish off the trilogy.

Happy Hanukkah

Free, free, free association! :-) Did you say Godfather 3? That's the movie that got Andy Garcia a Best Supporting Actor nomination, right? And I do recall that in the previous reaction, several patrons were pushing Return to Oz, starring Fairuza Balk. Say, was that Christopher Walken I recently saw in a tentpole film? It sure would be nice if there were a movie featuring all three of them. Wait! You'll have trouble believing me, but it just so happens to be that there is! Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995). And now, nothing to do but wait. ... ... ... Are we there yet? :-)

I love Rocky IV. Iv he throws the jab, I back away. Iv he throws a left hook, I hit him with a straight right. Iv... :-P

Simon Pegged Me

After watching your reaction to the training montage, I feel the need to paraphrase Captain Clarence Over in Airplane: “Do you like gladiator movies, George & Simone?”

Jeff K

Rocky V is pretty awful, but the climax has one of the best moments of the series, in terms of getting into the feels.

Jeff K

You mean the Rocky movie that’s approximately 84% montages?

jmundt33a

I’m afraid I disagree. Unless you were really invested in decking Don King as interpreted by Richard Gant, the climax fell as flat as the rest of the exercise. “Sue me for what?” Doesn’t have the same power as “Yo Adrian” or “I did it!” or “Eye of the tiger!” or “DRAGOOO!” or even “If he dies, he dies.” It’s just there. And the absolute nothing before the street fight takes all the power out of the reuse of “I didn’t hear no bell!”

Jeff K

I'm not talking about the "didn't hear no bell" line. Avoiding mentioning what, specifically, I like about the climax because it's a spoiler.

Zoobi Condarino

Would love yall to watch “the place beyond the pines,” “another earth,” &/or “magnolia” but only if you’re down to get emotionally wrecked

Adam K

I cringe for Rocky V, but then you get to Rocky Balboa and the Creeds, and those are all just great movies

Ryan Ware

Thank you for fixing the title from "Rock 3". Probably a very different movie. LOL!

Jomero

Rocky IV might be polarizing. It's a very, very different Rocky movie from the previous ones in terms of tone. It's one of the most 80-iest of the '80s movies you can get. I personally loved it, as it was my first introduction to Rocky when I was 8 years old, and the soundtrack was one of my first albums I ever owned. As long as you go in expecting some cheese on par with a fondue party, I think you'll enjoy it. Rocky V is the one that pretty much all agree is pretty terrible. But Rocky Balboa is a great bookend to the series.

James Falato

These First 3 "Rocky Films" are a "Cut Above" the Rest...

Mike Kay

@21:48 hahaha I love you George!

Jack Urmson

The thumbnail. 🙌🙌😂😂

Just Cheek

Rocky 1 is the best film but Rocky 3 is the most entertaining.
