It’s weird watching this movie in 2D but here we go.

Odd Thomas

It's fun but the reach for sentimentality at the end doesn't really fit for me. The beauty of the first film was the deadpan tone. It's like the Seinfeld rule: no hugging. As for MIB: International, there is precisely one funny moment. Otherwise a soulless cash-in.

PeppermintWizardOfAus

I get that but I also feel after 3 movies slight sentimentality is earned and at least they didn’t go overboard with it with any “you were always like my dad K” speech or something.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

This really has one of the more unexpected ending gut punches in a fun movie I can think of. Really catches you off guard and that makes it more moving and bittersweet. Also Michael Stuhlbarg is fantastic in this as Griffin the prescient alien :)

Mastervodo

I am not a HUGE fan of the Marvel Netflix series. However. Daredevil Season 1 with Vincent D as Kingpin is fantastic. Jessica Jones Season 1 (and ONLY Season One) has a FANTASTIC villain in the Purple Man played by David Tennant (10th Doctor!) I will say it up front for all you other Marvel maniacs out there - they DO NOT have to watch Iron Fist, Luke Cage or the Defenders, and while I love the Punisher/Daredevil stuff in Season 2 - they COULD skip that. But I would not mind if they did not. And lets not forget that scene in DD Season One with Deborah Ann Woll. You know the scene! So.. if you want them to dive into DD Season 1 - please say so!

Odd Thomas

Ooh, you should watch Wild Wild West! Sonnenfeld and Smith again. It's awful, but it's still oddly entertaining!

djKENTO

Oh I’m so jealous Simone gets to experience apple pie with cheddar for the first time. The sharper the cheddar the better it pairs with tart pie.

DM DC

I'm surprised to see them go this hard into a franchise. I'm hopeful that they go for some other sequals soon. Scream 2, Saw 2, Jaws 2. Skip Jaws 3 and 4, they are terrible films. 3 was fun buuuut it's still got some scenes that can be pretty laughable-but not in a good way. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is also fun. Also did they ever do Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions? Sure the cgi hasn't aged particularly well in a few scenes, and the story does get weird, but overall they are still entertaining and fun-at least I thought so. So many sequals I'd like them to get too, hopefully soon. Also I second the comment about Dare Devil. Season 1 was awesome, and season 2 is a worthy followup. Also Jessica Jones season 1 is fantastic. Iron fist definitely had much to be desired. It was a letdown but so was The Punisher. Luke Cage is a cool character-but the show was just not up to par I feel.

FWPJR.

I actually really like this movie, so I’m looking forward to watching this reaction ( I always look forward to watching you two react to whatever it is that you watch ) I think all the movies in this trilogy are good and that’s just my opinion and I know others will definitely disagree lol so I’m happy you watched the entire trilogy.

Mitchell Bowker

It's funny that Simone mentioned FIGWIT (Frodo is great, Who is that?) in her introduction, because he's played by Bret McKenzie who is the other member of Flight of the Conchords with Jemaine Clement.

Logan Kerlee

Dropping two movies day after day! I definitely appreciate the influx of content! :)

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

Yeah, you need to watch the Marvel series(Netflix and Disney+) and you'll have lots of Luke Cage for at least like 27 episodes

FWPJR.

I’ve only seen it in 2d, didn’t even know they made this movie in 3D. But I can imagine it’s awesome in 3D

djKENTO

If Simone sees what Mike Coulter does as Luke Cage her head is going to explode live during the reaction and I'm pretty sure that'd be against TOS.

Odd Thomas

I never watched the Luke Cage series but Jessica Jones is a must watch!

REDR58

Luke Cage is a good series. Hoping he comes back to the MCU.

Monica Alarcon

Great movie! It's too bad they never EVER made any more MIB movies... at all...

REDR58

Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen (and Samuel L. Jackson and Pom Klementieff!) star together in the 2013 remake of “Old Boy” and let’s just say you should put Thanos and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch out of your mind when or if you watch it.

Prof. Writhms

Simone: since you like the actor that plays J's dad, you should know he played Luke Cage in the the Marvel Netflix series-- which I think now is a Disney Plus series.

Shane Driscoll

This film would've been about 2 minutes long if the prison guards had used a regular old X-ray on the cake instead of that fancy-schmancy scanner.

Logan Kerlee

I'd for sure enjoy watching those shows again. :) I really enjoyed both of those. I'm also ALL FOR the both of them watching The Punisher! That show was fantastic.

howtocookazombie (Stan)

George, have you watched Rick & Morty or just Simone? Would love to see your reaction too!

Rev

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually liked Iron Fist. I get the criticisms, but I see them in a different way, I guess. But, yes, I would love to see their take on Daredevil. All seasons.

howtocookazombie (Stan)

The two motorcycles in the movie, that K pulled out of his car do really exist. They are called Monocycles or Monowheel and it's actually a pretty old invention - over 150 years.

Mastervodo

Now more than ever, I want to have Simone watch Jessica Jones. If you know, you know! That season ALSO has Carrie-Anne Moss, who y'all just watched in Momento!

sarCC

It's "vim and vigor."

W T

I'd totally be down for FotC reactions, plus the legendary HBO special (probably a better introduction, I love this show).

Joanthan Skidmore

Cheese goes with so many things.. Try Chedder, with honey and some ground up coffee on top.. put it on a cracker! Trust me...

Our Patrons thought we were a myth. Well... They were MYTH taken.

🖤If you guys are itching for more Jermaine Clement, you should consider putting "What We Do In The Shadows" on a poll. The movie, not the TV show. It's both, and they're connected, but not in such a way where you need to watch both (tho you get a bit more mileage from the TV show having seen the movie first). But it's a mockumentary about vampires, it's so funny. If you watch/love the movie, then you can see if you'd be interested in putting the show on a tv poll in the future, or just watching it on your own, either way. I love both the movie and the TV series (which is still on going).

Skyruff

For the longest time I thought Tim Curry played Boris.

FranciscoGios

Bill Hader’s impressions are so top notch he does his own version of Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars and is so hilarious 😂.

droodly

Kinda fun that George was talking about Arrival, because the guy who played Griffin, was also in Arrival, as the agent guy that kept pushing for war-type tactics.

droodly

Also, I only ever heard "Vim and vigor". If I type "Vim and" in google it comes back with "Vim and vigor" in some form as the auto-complete suggestions. No verves. Maybe it's regional?

Gary Fixler

I haven't heard of vim and verve, but Vim, Vigor, and Vitality! Was a long-standing slogan for Dr. Pepper. I grew up with this clock on dad's kitchen wall in the 80s: https://www.ebay.com/itm/275611785042 If you zoom in on the bottom of the mirror, below the pendulum, it has the slogan. I would sit at the table, eating my PBJ, and trying to figure out what vim was. Now I'm a nerd who uses vim as my text editor! Here it is around 1910: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheWayWeWere/comments/7gvhm0/vim_vigor_and_vitality_drink_dr_pepper_fort_worth/

Grumblefunk

This film def elevates the trilogy, solidifies it because it makes the first two more enjoyable on rewatches imo. Also you mentioned Daredevil and Jessica Jones, both are excellent, JJ is prob my fave Marvel show so far and it would be awesome to watch them again

Gary Fixler

I swear I've heard addlepated in cartoons, like Bugs Bunny. I know I've heard twitterpated in Bambi, meaning "bought for billions by Elon." No wait... Meaning crazy in love.

sarCC

It would be great if you watch Jermaine Clement in the What We Do In The Shadows movie(after which you could watch the excellent direct spinoff show Wellington Paranormal[and maybe eventually the American TV series of the same name]). And Mike Colter is also ridiculously handsome in the equally great show Evil. (He's good as Luke Cage, too...but only the first season of that show, and Jessica Jones, is worth watching.)

REDR58

Very nice reaction, Simone and George. This was a first watch for me and I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Alice Eve who plays the younger Agent O can be seen in Star Trek into Darkness and in the second season of Iron Fist as "Mary Walker" aka "Typhoid Mary" in the comics. She's quite good in the show. Interestingly, she has Heterochromia and her left eye is blue and her right eye is green. Here is a close-up (from "Iron Fist") from Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Defenders/comments/9g6jw0/amazing_casting_as_alice_eve_has_natural/ Edit: the building J jumps from is the Chrysler Building which was constructed between 1929 and 1930 and was the tallest building in the world for 11 months. You can see it being assembled in time lapse as he falls back and then forward through time. There was once an observation deck open to the public, but it was closed. There were plans to open a new observation area as of 2020 but I'm not sure of the status of that currently. https://ny.curbed.com/2020/5/20/21264740/chrysler-building-new-observation-deck

REDR58

A few more thoughts, there is an excellent film based on true events called "I shot Andy Warhol" (1996) starring Lili Taylor (from "The Conjuring") as Valerie Solanas who...interacts with Warhol (played by Jared Harris, who you saw in "Chernobyl") and directed by Mary Harron, who also directed American Psycho. Harron is Canadian, btw. "I Shot Andy Wharhol" was only ever released to home video on DVD and does not appear to have an official digital release, but if you can find a copy of it, I think it would be well worth a viewing. The New York Mets' old baseball stadium, Shae Stadium, is pronounced like "shay." It was named for William Shea who was a sports team owner and lawyer.

mky

Michael Stuhlbarg (Agent Halpern). I saw MIB 3 before Arrival, so when he showed up in Arrival, I thought, "hey, it's Griffin!".

Paul Tassin

Please watch Luke Cage!!!

Simone's Coconut Squire

Re Intro: There's the Verve that does Bitter Sweet Symphony and also The Verve Pipe that does The Freshman

Denashi

FIGWIT! For once, I got one of Simone's references!
