In the Heights for future musical polls

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Grease is the word, indeed. La La Land for the spectacle and acting and Chicago for the razzle dazzle.

Jeff K.

Can I write in Hamilton?

QuiGon_Jim (Howe)

As I grew older, I became more and more unable to watch musicals... except for 'Singing In The Rain' that is. There's just something about that films that sits just right with me... also, 'The Nightman Cometh'.

Nathan Jasper

Yay, musicals! I love a good musical 😊

Turtle-man 2023

The fact that Sweeny Todd isn't on here is a travesty and I demand I recount

paul rai

Singin’ in the Rain is such a classic. I hope that places in the top . George will have an immense smile on his face throughout. Also hoping La La Land gets picked. I really love how much of a throwback that film is but it’s technically crafted that feels modern and brisk and the humor feels so prescient with the millennial angst of finding purpose.

Joe Williams

Singing In The Rain is incredible, but think La La Land will win. If you enjoy it, I'd recommend The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Even if you see it yourself away from the channel.

Onno Smits

I think both of you would love Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005), for various reasons... 😅

Scott Handsome

It's not really a musical but next time you guys do a music centric movie you should look into That Thing You Do w/ Tom Hanks. Really good and funny movie about a fake rock band in the 60s.

Maratae

Where's the Rocky Horror Picture Show?

FrancescoTakesItEasy

You've already covered one of my favorite musicals, the South Park movie, and with Sweeney Todd not being on here, I'll leave this to the other Patrons.

Senec

I'm very keenly detecting a pattern here. Also, a little sad Little Shop of Horrors didn't make the list, but there's still some solid choices there, you'll have fun.

rycolaa

Please add some John Carney movies for musicals like Sing Street or Begin Again

ProIndy

For musicals, you could add The Greatest Showman next time. Great movie! :)

Fernando Alamán

Finally, musicals poll. Thanks. Next time "Little Shop of Horrors", please. It's a must. Also, give documentaries a chance. There are gems out there.

Brad Lowry

Could you call "Tape Heads" an "MTV Musical"? The Swanky Modes, King Cotton doing a Chicken 🍗 & Waffle 🧇 video, Don Cornelius (Soul Train) as a record executive, Stiv Bator leads the Blender Cildren, and Jello Biafra as a dancing FBI agent.

streaky

Not into musicals, but NGL I'd be intrigued to see what George would make of Mary Poppins lol

ShōNuff3K

Apparently, Simone is all about musicals.

Brad Lowry

Am I remembering correctly?… Could "Star Struck" be considered an Aussie New Wave musical? I do indeed remember loving it and skipping down the street as one might do after seeing a musical.

BlakeK80DrumCovers

Really not my thing... Perhaps Bugsy Malone would've been fun.

TomGas2025

Ok...musicals I am out...wish you fun though.

Mike Miner

I'm a huge Paul Thomas Anderson fan and he listed "Singin in the Rain" as one of his top 10 favorite movies, so I had to check it out. Otherwise I probably never would have watched it, so I don't blame people for not voting for it, but it's so incredibly well done and surprisingly funny and sarcastic. Also didn't see La La Land or Chicago until very late and was surprised how much I enjoyed them, watched them multiple times after that. I think musicals can be a hard sell if you don't know or like the songs.

GnolRevilo

George! Blink twice if you are being held hostage by Simone in order to watch a musical!

JayF

Hehe, not really my thing but there are a couple of comedy/musicals you could have included that would get a ton of votes. Try putting Rocky Horror Picture Show and Little Shop of Horrors on a poll like this one.

Rob Parry

Since it just started, how about a Olympics movie poll (Yeah I know some of these are Winter Olympics) Munich 2005 Chariots of Fire 1981 Foxcatcher 2014 I, Tonya 2017 Miracle 2004 Cool Runnings 1993 Race 2016

Christian Truheoh

Not sure if YouTube would even allow them due to copyright but Rock of Ages and Phantom of the Opera are probably my favorite musicals. Another great one is The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Smooticus

Musicals are going to be hard to edit for YouTube airings, aren't they? That said, I'm surprised Evita isn't on the list. Or... Music Man Oklahoma Cabaret A Chorus Line Paint Your Wagon Newsies Swing Kids

PIG

Suggesting two musicals for a later date: Pink Floyd’s The Wall The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Shiby23

I got chillllsssss they multiplyingggg! its electrifying!!!!!!

simon brouillard

Suggestions for future musicals Cabaret and All that Jazz

Leigh P

Dr Horribles Singalong Blog?

JoeE

I would recommend oh! Streetcar! Or stop the planet of the apes i want to get off

Mike FromOz

Gotta be "Mary Poppins". An absolute classic, with a great morality tale in it.

BangDroid

Keep Greasing the wheels people!

Florian

Wow didn't thought this would be possible 😁. But all of the above please... And, Sweeney Todd, The Greatest Showman and My Fair Lady

JohnB

Rock of Ages?

Jeff Norwood-Brown

If you watch Les Mis don’t forget you have to listen carefully to the lyrics otherwise you end up sitting in a cinema for (what feels like) 47 days wondering what the f is going on. And then your wife has to angrily explain it all. Apparently.

Raymond DeGraw

Love your reactions... Looking forward to seeing these in the future... 1. The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) 2. Alita Battle Angel 3. Little Shop of Horrors (1986) 4. Sweeney Todd 5. Xanadu

Helly R

Singin in the Rain is a masterpiece. That and La La Land are significantly above the others imo.

Adam K

I doubt it will win but I’m pulling for Chicago - not because it’s the best on the list - but because it is the only one that is an actual “First Time Watching”. Were there no other musicals that neither have seen? It’s just more fun. Also - George hates musicals - so the fun would more be Simone for this, and she has seen nearly all of these.

Brendan Rafferty

Rocky Horror Picture Show should be in this musical poll

Amar

How about none! I thought George made it clear that he does not like Musicals and i remember that clearly because i nodded in agreement. It's why i don't watch Indian movies anymore, i can't stand it when they break out into dance for no apparent reason lol. I know others love it though so it's all good

Pedro Pinheiro

Given how, from that list, Simone clearly loves musicals , I'd love to see Chicago.

Mike Dispo

CHICAGO! Very entertaining and new to both of you and really accessible as well.

Neumann

moulin rouge is one of my favorite movies of all time! it's so creative and fun, even when the story is NOT fun lol

Eric Haines

Phantom of the Opera! :(

Justin Ely

The Producers would be fun to see yall react to

Alex Ch

Thanks for this poll!

Brandon

All that Jazz (1979) and Cabaret (1972) are two greats from Bob Fosse.

Dioskur

Little Shop of Horrors not on the list?

Alex Laime

La La Land was a lot of fun. Great performances IMO.

Bookwormy

Chicago is AMAZING!

Mr. Writhms

A double feature of the original "Westside Story" (1957) and the brilliant Steven Spielberg (2021) remake, please.

Philipp Roensch

Many good choices, I guess you both seen Hamilton already? I don't know if The Book of Mormon is available in any form. And would Rocketman be musical or biopic? I think it is both^^.

Eric Wilson

The producers. The new one. The shock value alone I think would be hilarious.

Mr. Treat

No little shop of horros is unfortunate.

theLandofLiz

La La Land is the most overrated movie, literally anything but that

Mr. Writhms

Oh! How about the musical biography? "Purple Rain" "The Doors" "Ray" "Walk The Line" "Rocketman" "Straight Outta Compton"

JojoPotato

A Hard Day’s Night

Katrina Richelle

Picked Chicago but next time as an option I would suggest 2006 Dreamgirls with Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Beyoncé

Spacedone

What about 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'?

Dechevalier

Gonna toss in "1776" for the next one.

HadadBeats

Hamilton needs to be on this list guys

MR

Missing: Dancer in the Dark

MPH

This list is missing the best musical of all time: The Book of Mormon.

CarolynK

Re:George hates musicals. I'm curious to know what his hate is based on. Which musicals has he seen? I defy anyone to hate Oklahoma.

Thomas Thompson

Oh surprise surprise, guess who's a fan of musicals?

Craig D

no Repo! the Genetic Opera?? add this to the list

VeroMiller

I LOVE musicals so I'm up for almost anything but "Singin' in the Rain" is the ultimate and even if it doesn't win this poll, it's a sin not to watch it.

Vincent

Singin' In the Rain Grease

Andreas Bergerstedt

Singin in the rain is the summit. Mostly because of the incredible dance numbers

Tay Schumaker

I mean Grease is fine (and surprisingly dirty) but I'd rather see almost every other movie listed here. Moulin Rouge and La La Land are really movie musicals, taking every advantage of the medium they are in. And I know the 2012 Les Mis got some (deserved) criticism, but I love it. It really takes the stage musical to the medium of film and takes advantage of that.

mky

Check out "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" (Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, 1964) sometime. It's not a musical in the traditional sense, as *all* of the dialogue is sung...in French. It's a wonderful film, very much worth viewing...if not for a reaction video, certainly for your own enjoyment. Cheers!

Darin Foat

I'm sorry to see Singin' in the Rain so low on the list. It's amazing. I first watched it in a film history class in college, and the professor made an interesting observation. It's the rare Hollywood musical that would still be a good movie with all of the musical numbers taken out. There's a good story, relatable characters, and a lot of funny gags that happen outside of the musical parts. That being said, every musical number in it is a banger.

Jasbro

Hmm i wonder if Simone likes musicals lol

Mark McConnell

The only musical you should do is…Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog!!

mogelijk

Another vote for Singing in the Rain. This is a piece of film history that needs to be experienced.

G P

Singing in the Rain is a must-watch classic, too bad its trailing

sarCC

Once, Anna And The Apocalypse, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

Maarten Martens

Well I guess I'm watching a musical next. I only saw Moulin Rouge once and that wasn't my cup of tea, but I'll make sure to keep an open mind for the winner of the poll.

Mr TV Eye

Since "Singing in the Rain" and "My Fair Lady" are the only two musicals I've seen that i really cared about, my vote clearly goes to "Singing in the Rain". Besides, it's one of THE great classics of Hollywood musicals golden age and a must watch if you want do dive into musicals.

NEIL PICKERING

Not a musicals fan,but would have voted for THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS,steve martin and rick moranis!

Jpsynergy

I'm just surprised there's a musical or rom com George has seen but Simone hasn't!

Skyruff Creative

I would vote for: Down with Love )2003), Heidi (1837 Shirley Tenple), or Grease (1978).

p0sthum4n

Little Shop of Horrors is a big miss not being on here, but I went with Grease.

Dan Holmes

Need to add: Sweeney Todd Sound of Music Fiddler on the Roof Little Shop of Horrors West Side Story Hairspray and not technically a musical but you need to watch the film Walk the Line about Johnny Cash

Michael L.

I would definitely add to check out Fiddler On the Roof sometime, I think it's a fantastic film.

Eddy V Ruiz II

I saw grease in the theater almost as many times as I saw the original Star Wars. We were obsessed. I tried to watch it recently and wow those "teenagers" sure look mature.

Arthur Pinheiro

La la land is the best film on this poll, by far

droodly

I'm voting Moulin Rouge. It's very good, but also kinda weird, so there is a good chance George will use his squeaky voice as he tries to make sense of things.

Lionbarber

Little shop of horrors is a must see. Other great ones are In the Heights and a lesser known one: Once

Noel Valdez

La La Land is fantastic to me! It got so much hate right after everyone got done praising it people starting shitting on it. haha but I always loved it since the first time I saw it. I think Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling has a lot to do with it though because I have massive crushes on both. haha

Muad san

the Rocky Horror Picture Show sould be fun too.

ExtraBigAssTaco

Let's make George watch Buffy for "Once More, With Feeling". Also, The Magicians for the whole show, plus the great musical episodes.

warcrimes

Grease is a classic, havent seen it in years would love to watch y'all see it

rictus grin

a few other suggestions Bugsy Malone Jesus Christ Superstar Phantom of the Paradise Rocky Horror Picture Show & the sequel Shock Treatment Little Shop of Horrors

rictus grin

that was a harder list to choose from as i have seen and enjoyed all but one of them

Jimmie V

Dancer in the Dark (2000) is a musical in the arthouse genre (which you could use on your channel). It's actually pretty accessible and it won the Palme d'Or.

Mastervodo

Grease is the one that I want. Oooh Oooh Oooh, Honey...

Jordan Aiken

yuenz should check out Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, if you haven't already. Its one of my favorite musicals.

Shonnicus

I watched Tik Tik Boon (2021) starring Andrew Garfield. Went in blind and not expecting much. I enjoyed it very much

nigel Macbug

musical Rocky Horror Picture Show Little Shop of Horrors

Who Are These People

Singing in the Rain has two of the greatest musical dancers of all time in it who had both danced over 20 years each at that point in an industry where dance was an essential skill. La La Land has two pretty A-listers with three months of dance training and a lot of editing to make them not embarassing. There's no real question here. If you want to experience a real musical, it's Singing in the Rain. Or add 'Top Hat' to the poll and get the best of the best of the best.

WastedPo

Mary Poppins is a classic for a reason. The special effects in it also hold up surprisingly well.

Alan Kobb

Sadly, you are missing some that I most definately would have chosen over any in your list. Little Shop of Horrors West Side Story Fiddler on the Roof Mr. Holland's Opus

Onikaze

is Chess available anywhere? that's the one somewhat obscure musical I like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

JoeE

Would also recommend sing street, not a musical but some good songs

TheGrimOne

Would like to see: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (original not the remake) Little Shop of Horrors (old or new) Sweeny Todd Repo! The Genetic Opera

Rachel W

Cabaret, Sweet Charity and All That Jazz are fantastic.

Seymor Butz

A bit of a theme here....George needs more musicals in his life.

iFixSAN

Seems like walking into an editing nightmare.

Com1xguy

Can we add the "Once More with Feeling" episode of Buffy to this list?

RipTheRipper

Predictable winner and I do love the film.. Les Mis was my choice as I think it is the best film in an admitted list of wonderful films. I would legit have no issue with any of them even though I might have enjoyed a less predictable outcome. All of these deserve a reaction though

RipTheRipper

I should not be surprised that so many don't seem to get that a Movie Musical does not mean a filmed version of the stage play, and some suggestions of musicals that haven't even been filmed in their stage version or as a film.

Adam K

Ugh….nostalgia wins out again over quality

Sir Dongle

If we're talking Musicals, I GOTTA add: - Little Shop of Horrors - Hercules - Walk Hard - Tenacious D and The Pick of Destiny - Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping - A Goofy Movie - The Trolls Franchise I'm not asking for immediately, but please give these a look, I honestly think they're worth your time and reactions. Love you guys, appreciate all the time and effort for content. Thank you

Sir Dongle

Oh, Also just thought of the movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga with Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams. Very funny but loving caricature/skewering of the Eurovision Contest in real life and a fun film

Rupert Purcat

I'm disappointed more people haven't recommended 'The Greatest Showman' 2017. Easily the greatest musical in recent times and with original music. Fantastic performances by a great cast of musical actors.

Jason Harris

Singing in the Rain is simply one of the best Movies of ALL TIME - it is a must see.

G P

Little Shop of Horrors Rocky Horror Picture Show Jesus Christ Superstar

Joe

I echo all of the Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog comments/requests!

windyWin

I voted Grease and Mary Poppins. I would have voted for West Side Story if it was available. I wouldn't vote for LA LA land, ever.

CrunklJack don’t poop.

Missing: My Fair Lady. Audrey Hepburn with Julie Andrews doing the singing?! Great Movie. I don't generally like Musicals, but My Fair Lady? come on

David S

It's been mentioned a lot, but I have add my vote for Little Shop of Horrors (1986)... I love that movie, so much fun.

Elena

Chicago is great for social commentary on today's society and would be cool to see you both react to them for the first time. John C's Reilly's performance is great also and totally different from Stepbrothers lmao.

Kaushik Sethunath

I know its a little different since its a taping of a live performance, but I would LOVE to see you guys react to Hamilton. It was hyped to hell even before I saw or heard anything to do with it, but damn did it leave a lasting impression on me!

Adam K

I agree with those voting for the West Side Story remake. The music is wonderful, story compelling, and it’s Spielberg for goodness sakes!

Craig D

‘The Producers’ (2005) is comedy gold! add to your next musical poll

Da Big Appa

Movie request for future poll is Stardust. It's a charming fantasy movie with a stacked cast.

Gunnar Salum

You can always consider RENT as well ;)

Brandon Meng

Okay I understand Grease but Les Mis and Chicago.. just... absolute all time classics. Chicago and Moulin Rouge are the musicals that got me into musicals. Also, for future polls, please consider the following: Perks of Being a Wallflower Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Manchester by the Sea Forgetting Sarah Marshall About Time Cheers!

Brien

Phantom of the Opera 25th anniversary at The Royal Albert Hall would be epic!

Kevin Ehle

Ugh...Musicals!! Hard pass on every musical ever made. Can't think of a single one that isn't annoying. Not even the awesomeness of George and Simone can help with this genre of film. I'm not a hater! Well, maybe a little. 🤪

James Pugal

Yesssssss. La La Land is my comfort movie. I put it on in the background when I’m working or doing chores

Dustin Duvall

Maybe we should have a pinned community thread, don't know where else to ask this lol. It's a little corny, but has anyone coined a term for Cinebinge fans?

molly

can we just do it all!!!! such a hard choice hahaha

FoH Film Club

Danny Zuko? C'mom man...I'm sorry George 😂

ExquisiteCapybara

Great selection guys, hoping for Moulin Rouge and/or Grease next musical poll absolutely needs "rocky horror picture show"

Ginger

I'd like to recommend for the next musical poll: "Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny"

Mark Lecuyer

I suggested Rocketman - the Elton john bio pick for future consideration.
