Am I miss hearing, or is Simones audio a bit off this time? Seems a bit scratchy to me.

Maiki

You've seen the wedding singer, Dan Finnerty, in the first Hangover, also directed by Todd Phillips. Where he plays, well, the weird wedding singer.

FWPJR.

Heck yes!!!!!!! I’ve been waiting for this all week, I’m so glad you two are finally reacting to this movie, I know this will definitely be a fun watch along. This is one of Will Ferrel’s and Vince Vaughns best movies ( imo ) plus Luke Wilson is really funny in this, but tbh everyone is great in this movie. I can’t wait to watch this later tonight, I hope everyone has a fantastic day✌🏻

FWPJR.

He’s hilarious in these movies as the wedding singer, I love going on YouTube and watching his performances lol

Lol well I still have (and use sometimes still) my 'old school' cassette walkman I had in high school in the mid 90s. 🤪

lordofcore

i had to stop the movie. im gonna be honest, i was so looking forward to this cause ive never seen it and man. over an hour in, i didnt laugh once. probably the humor just isnt my style but i just find it so boring for some reason.

Chris Henderson

Ugh we got this before Hangover Part II.

REDR58

If you guys want to see a more dramatic role for Will Ferrell, seek out “Everything Must Go” from 2010.

REDR58

I feel that way about the original “Police Academy” from 1984. That was one of the go-to comedies when I was growing up but watching it again on the reaction here I couldn’t finish it. I found it painfully unfunny on the rewatch after so many years.

REDR58

I still have my very first Sony Discman (and it still works) that I used in my car Velcroed to the top of the dash and connected to the car radio via tape adapter. I got it when I was in college in the 1990s. It even came with a little remote. I also still have my Panasonic CD/Tape/Radio “boombox” which was the very first CD player I have and that still works, though the belts on the tape player need to be replaced. I also still have the very first CD I bought, Pink Floyd’s “Delicate Sound of Thunder” live double CD. Still plays great!

I'm normally not into Will Farrell movies because they can become so cringe. This movie is no exception. Occasionally there is a good Will Ferrell movie, though. Something like Stranger than Fiction. His character is less "dumb" in that one. The problem with doing the unrated/director's cut/ extended version of most films is that it is nearly impossible to find those cuts on streaming services unless they are preferred over the theatrical release (like Lord of the Rings). This makes it impossible to keep the movie in synch during reactions. Had the same problem with Pineapple Express.

It really feels like this film was chopped to hell in the editing process. Especially Luke Wilson's romantic subplot, which just sort of disappears and resolves itself off screen.

Cincassette

My first time watching… this one just feels kinda pointless. I’m not a big fan of this type of comedy, but it did have some great moments throughout. I really loved seeing the reference to “The Graduate” (1967). I’d love to see you guys check out that classic at some point :) Seeing Luke Wilson also reminded me that we haven’t seen any Wes Anderson on the channel in a while. Any of his movies are definitely worth a watch :)

Tay Schumaker

Oh man I still say “meal of food”. I forgot it came from this. The deleted screens in this are pretty hilarious too

Odd Thomas

Stranger Than Fiction would have been a better choice. And the best Vince Vaughn film is Fred Claus (it's very Click in tone and I'd rate it top 5 xmas movies)

Grumblefunk

ferrell doing the exact same thing he does in every movie role, his act got stale VERY fast to me back in that era. nothing personal though!

Paul G

I never really considered the pacing of this movie before but I kind of agree. This came out when I was a sophomore in college and I recall going to see it with friends and hating it. I re-watched it about five or so years later and I thought it was great! I think you need to have that post school, real world experience to fully appreciate this one.

REDR58

So a heads up as I just got back from “Deadpool and Wolverine,” I don’t know if you will have time to finish out the X-Men series before you decide to watch it but I do strongly recommend you watch… (slight spoiler) …”Daredevil” from 2003, but specifically the 2004 release of the R-rated director's cut. It’s not super essential, but it’s is worth seeing I think before you get to “D&W.”

Brandon Meng

Stranger Than Fiction is a "smart" Will Ferrell movie, not to mention it's an amazing film! Not really even a comedy, just quirky. Strongly recommend.

Shane Darcy

Agreed. I remember being pretty luke-warm on this but found it hilarious this time around

BigGuy209

Can you please stop doing this uncut or the unrated version of this late 90s early 2000 comedy movies. they really don’t add anything to the movie.

ted

I'm definitely hearing it. At least in the intro where I'm at now.

Whenever I see some list about comedians who aren't funny, Will Ferrell is almost always top of the list, but he never fails to make me laugh, but I also may be an idiot, so fair enough. He, to me, just does the idiot very well, and I've heard that to be a convincing idiot actually requires intelligence, and I think his timing and improv skills are great, you can tell a lot of what he does is not scripted, like him grabbing the cheese balls when they kidnap a pledge, and probably the chair slamming in the locker room like a college basketball coach. Supposedly, practically half of Step Brothers was improv. I know I've seen that wedding band in other comedies, I'm pretty sure they play a hair metal band in Hot Rod, which you guys gotta see, it was written for Will Ferrell I think, but he passed on it ( although I think he does have a very small cameo in it, I'm not sure but it looked like him) and Andy Samberg plays the main character, it's hilarious, big recommend. As far as I could tell most of what the unrated edition had was just more Andy Dick, his scene was a lot shorter in the theatrical, like George and the director, I agree, it was just a little too much Dick. Oh, and the guy in the diner, he was on Mad TV, he did the same Greek accent in The Hangover.

Gleb Melnikov

Guys, talking about Todd Phillips comedies - you shuld check out his Starsky & Hutch remake (2004), very similar to Old School tonally but way more funny imo

ScottishSammo

Another random movie like this is The Goods: live hard, sell hard. The main star is Jeremy Piven who played the dean, it has a few other well known comedy actors but I think it has some hilarious moments

Jeremy

Talking about WIll Ferrell always playing the idiot, if you want to see another side of him, you should check out Stranger Than Fiction. He plays a more serious character and it is one of my favorite movies.

REDR58

Luke Wilson’s character Mitch is at a real estate law seminar at the beginning of the movie that he then skips out on, so yes he was a real estate lawyer.

Joey Johansen

Did Will Farrell play a smarter than his usual role in Stranger Than Fiction? Or am I misremembering, :) .

REDR58

This was a silly but decently funny movie. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the casual and needless homophobic slur at the beginning of the movie, but I guess we’ve gotten past it now with these kind of comedies. I hope.

djKENTO

about the machine gun at the airport… This was filmed RIGHT after 9/11 and in America it was SUPER common to see fully armed soldiers at the airport for like 5 years.

sarCC

Seann William Scott ("Stiffler") is grewt in the much better movie GOON. And Sara Tanaka is in the infinitely better film RUSHMORE.

Brandon

TLDR version: You guys should watch Road Trip at some point. I think the screenplay is made of different elements that are kind of connected, but don't really gel together very well. So George saying that it feels like 3 separate movies stitched together is pretty accurate. Vince Vaughn's character essentially has no conflict to deal with compared to Wilson and Ferrel's characters - who both actually have something resembling an arc. There's no conflict within his marriage, despite all the wisecracks he makes about marriage at the wedding. So casting Leah Remini as his wife is a wasted oppurtunity. He has the chance to cheat on his wife but he brushes the other girl aside far too easily to say that he's really conflicted about cheating at all. They could have had his character lean more heavily into a rivalry with Jeremy Piven's Dean character. Something. Anything. On top of that, he's a successful business owner and his house is enormous. Another version of the screenplay would have the movie pull the rug out from under him right at the end of the 2nd act and we'd find out that his business is struggling and he's actually living way above his means - which puts more emphasis on using the frat house as an escape. Or we'd find out his wife is really the one struggling with the day-to-day aspects of married life and her form of escapism is a lot more wild. I've seen comments complaining about Will Ferrell's comedy, but for me it's Vince Vaughn that really drags the movie down. That was a lot more than I ever thought I'd write about the movie 'Old School'. 🤣 Todd Phillips made Road Trip before this. It's a college movie where the humour is just as juvenile but the script is more tightly focused and the editing/pacing are on point. It makes sense that he'd follow that with a movie about guys in their early 30's, but he just needed a better story.

Brazilian_Rebel

PLEASE ADD “Good Boys” TO YOUR NEXT COMEDY LIST !!!!

punterjoe

Was Simone referring to Lord Buckethead - the (in)famous British politician? If so, I humbly suggest she show proper respect and include his title when referring to him. Just plain "Buckethead" seems so ...plebian and disrespectful. 😏

Ricardo Alanis

Road Trip is another great movie from this era. Sean William Scott (Stiffler) is also in that as one of the main cast.

Michael

"The Dan Band" is a real band from the wedding, theyre great.

Jake Dinkel

that weird pacing you keep bringing up is what happens when you watch unrated versions of movies. It doesn't mean it's more lewd or more raunchy. It just means they leave in stuff that was edited out of the theatrical release. "Too much Andy Dick" is a valid criticism.
