The shame of this was the casting for Victor was great. And the intro credits shaped a very interesting story. And then they did this instead.

Helly R

Oh no...

Jeff K

Yeah, Liev is fantastic and that opening is genuinely great. Everything after that, though...

Jeff K.

George, if you want the Wolverine stories leading up to Deadpool you should definitely add Days of Future Past to the mix since he’s the central character in that one.

BoredLittleLady

I think it’s great that the plan is to watch “First Class” and “The Wolverine” but I hope you guys consider watching “X-Men Days of Future Past” (Director’s/Rogue Cut if you can find it) before rewatching Logan. Also, if you guys watch the animated series for Patreon, that would be amazing! Lastly, I’ll just say that “Deadpool & Wolverine” will not disappoint.

Jeff K.

Regarding the actor playing Gambit: that’s Taylor Kitsch, who is most famous for his role on the (excellent) TV show Friday Night Lights (where he shares many a scene with Jesse Plemons). The actor is also Canadian.

ChrisXIllustrates

Go ahead and watch ‘97 it’s made even for people aren’t familiar with the OG show.

So glad you guys like it ive always really liked how they made this movie cause I love the character of Wolverine and seeing the movie about it is awesome this movie and the animated Hulk Vs Wolverine are great orgin movie's I think. This one is quite underappreciated I agree deadpool was certainly done wrong but what they did works for what they were doing specifically here storywise so I've never thought is was the worst thing ever honestly but I don't blame fans for calling it out given it's not the character

Stuart Palmer

The kid with two different coloured eyes is colonel stryker's son. You also see him in X-Men 2 in a wheel chair where Stryker users him to control professor-X. Also Gambits powers are the ability to imbue any object with explosive plasma energy, his back story as a gambler and card game connoisseur are the reason he mainly does this with cards.

Maiki

He also was in Only The Brave (2017), which is a great film based on a true story. Miles Teller, Josh Brolin and Jennifer Connelly are in it aswell.

George is right that a lot of the hate stems from changes/discrepancies with the comics instead of talking about the merits of the film itself. But even if you remove that, the film still really struggles with its story. It's like you said: None of the bad guys plans make sense. They make Wolverine invulnerable and then send out people with guns to kill him, and only AFTER their mutant super-gunman is dead do they unveil the adamantium bullets. They have a mutant who can use mind control, but instead of just having her say "You want to volunteer for this procedure" they go through the process of forming a relationship and faking her death. At the very end they fully expect a gunshot to the brain to completely wipe his memory, as though people don't suffer headwounds in real life with all sorts of variable effects (And then it WORKS?!). That's not even going into all of the inter-movie problems that crop up whenever anybody tries to do a Prequel. It's far from the worst film that came out that year, but it's a mess.

18:39 "But it's always like that. After I get to likin' someone, they ain't around long." :-)

Happy Hanukkah

10:08 Now I feel very bad about encouraging George to "let [his] freak flag fly" just a couple of movies ago. Stay safe, George! :-)

James Wilson

I would love it if you reacted to the 90s animated show and X-men 97. The characters are just so much better and more accurate to their comic book versions than the movies. And X-men 97 was indeed very good. That said, the 90s animated show is very much a product of its time. There's a lot that just doesn't age well, the animation in particular. And season 5 especially, is a train wreck because they gutted the budget. You don't NEED to watch the 90s show to watch X-men 97, but it does help. And the 90s show does have some great episodes that really make you fall in love with the characters.

Anamondaris

I’m wondering if George was referring to surge binding or Mistborn when he mentioned Sanderson getting inspiration from Gambit. Or both work I guess.

Morningstar

Please watch Four Rooms 😊

Guy-on-Couch

I was excited to see Simone see Prof X at the end but George had to ruin the surprise....smh.... George I love ya buddy but in these reactions that you've seen the movie, you are very loose with the spoiler talk...

Ginger

I never got the hate for the movie. But then again, I've never read the comics.

QuiGon_Jim (Howe)

I do always forget that Liev Schreiber voices Kingpin in the Spiderverse films

Morningstar

I guess my comment was misunderstood, so I will say please watch Four Rooms the movie, with Quentin Tarantino, Tim Roth, Marisa Tomei, Jennifer, Beals, Antonio Banderas, Madonna, Salma Hayek etc.

Armchair Rizzard

I feel the same. No hate to him. I'm not one of those weird George haters but i cannot fathom why he thought it necessary to spoil that.

Dylan Thomas

This movie is a perfect example of the importance of the 3rd act of a script. If the ending is bad then thats what everyone remembers if its good thats what they remember. Vibranium in the comics isnt as strong as adamantium now that Fox properties are owned by Disney it will be interesting to see if they introduce adamantium into the MCU.

Travis H

I’m sure I’m forgetting something, but is this the worst movie watched on the channel? Even the cast/crew try to disown this movie. (No offense to those that like it, but you know what the main opinion of this movie is.)

Nick Kessler

This movie was never going to work for me just because I could not get past how bad the hair and make up looked. Wolverines hair looks like a cheap cosplay version of wolverine. the costumes are the same. Make up is the same.

jstraight52

As soon as I saw the movie title I immediately thought "Oh, you poor things"

Jeff K

Dude has such a great voice. His narration is like 50% of the reason that the HBO docuseries Hard Knocks works.

REDR58

I never care about source material and how close the movie stays or far it strays from that material. I used to dip into comics in the 1990s (mostly the Dan Ketch Ghost Rider and some Spider-Man and Punisher) but just lost interest and never went back. I just care about the quality of the movies themselves.

sarCC

X-Men Oranges!

JayF

First Class is very good. Days of Future Past is my favorite movie of the franchise.

Ashcroft Production-House

the frozen kid with the eyes was a younger version of striker's son jason from X-men 2

Michael Kea

Sorry guys. it says it was filmed in Canada but it was actually filmed around Queenstown New Zealand because Hugh didn't want to travel that far 😂

Adam Custer

Gambit energizes things with explosive energy. He is actually Omega level but made himself weaker with brain surgery. He could be one of the most powerful mutants.

Godrick

Mystique is also Nightcrawlers mom, but they kinda skipped over all the family ties in the previous films XD

Godrick

one metal isnt stronger then the other, theyre just different. The nerds gave them specific properties to give them specific use cases. Vibranium absorbs and reflects large amounts of kinetic energy (caps shield, black panthers armor) and Adamantium is an extremely dense and durable metal that is proportionally light weight (skeletal reinforcement, wolverine claws, deadpool swords)

MPH

This movie sucks so much, but it laid the groundwork for Logan, the best superhero movie ever. Also, Deadpool.

Alexander Kirichenko

George, I wanted to say you can do better with the thumbnail, but the movie is barely passable, so good job!

Joe

Do not skip Days of Future Past

Basilisk

You guys nailed it. The treatment of "Deadpool" in this movie is definitely what soured people for the most part on this movie. I've always enjoyed it for the most part, aside from that, even with "Gambit" not having his cajun accent (Thank God Channing Tatum got it right in Deadpool & Wolverine). The kid with the different coloured eyes was Stryker's son. You actually see him grown up in X-Men 2. I can't think of another superhero who has a worse life than Wolverine. Sure, Superman lost his home planet, his parents, and the majority of his race - but he never really knew them, seeing as he was sent away from Krypton as a baby. Sure Batman witnessed his parents killed in front of him. Sure, Spider-Man theoretically could've prevented his uncle's death. But how about how long Wolverine has lived, all the heartache and pain he would've witnessed/experienced? Him killing his actual father. Being manipulated by Stryker. World War II. Probably Vietnam as well. The pain of the adamantium bonding. Losing all your memories and living for years without truly knowing who you are, where you're from or anything. I don't know, just seems the most tragic to me. I would include the manipulations of his girlfriend in this movie, but I don't remember the comics well enough to know if that was accurate or not. Also, I love that Hugh Jackman cared enough about the character to fight to include the line "I'm Canadian." when Stryker says that his country needs him. And, just for the record, Ryan Reynolds was already well on his way to being somebody in Hollywood when they made this movie lol

Ashton Lewis

You guys mentioned X-Men 97... 1000% stick that one on the agenda please. It's awesome!

DM DC

it wasn't just what they did to Deadpool, at least for me. I hadn't saw Deadpool when I saw this. I didn't initially know what to think when I saw this. I didn't really like it after thinking on it for a few minutes after I left the theatre. I personally thought there was just too much in this film as well. It was stuffed full of bloat, and could have been better streamlined. There was just too much going on. I think it's also that the comic focuses more on Logan's time before his power fully developed. I have this comic and this movie didn't really do the comic justice. This should have been split into 2 movies, maybe 3. That was my main gripe with the film, well and some of the effects were not as good as previous films. There are some good moments in this movie. Upon the re-watch I can appreciate some of the scenes. But overall, it's still not as good as it could have been. As it should have been. By the time I'm watching this reaction (way late to it) the Warcraft movie has come out and I enjoyed that one. Way more than this. Van Helsing is a better film than this one.
