X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Patreon Version

Opti_Frog

I'm curious to see what you think of this one. It's X-Men so it's not terrible, but it's the weakest in the franchise by far.

Chago_kiba_Lee

I think it would be awesome if y’all react to hot ones with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Hackman there’s no spoilers for the other movies

Poindexter

The montage of Wolverine fighting in the various wars is so good

Odd Thomas

A better Danny Huston villain: 30 Days of Night. Great vampire flick.

beecroft adams

Oh wow you watched Logan first. That movie would've made no sense.

Shibby

One time my refrigerator stopped working, I didn't know what to do. I just moved

JediLounger

If you guys have not seen the Loki TV show, I would also watch that. “The Agency” in that show is integral to Deadpool 3.

Odd Thomas

Honestly I'm impressed that Simone remembers her own name at this point

djKENTO

Wondering if they’ll realize that Victor is Sabertooth, the guy Wolverine fought on the top of the Statue of Liberty.

JediLounger

If you want to watch a movie where unexpected stuff happens to lead actors, The Place Beyond the Pines (2012) is very good. Also, you watched a movie where there were dual lead actors, No Country for Old Men (2007).

djKENTO

Wolverines name has just always been that. He actually first appeared in an Incredible Hulk comic.

Jeff I.

Fortunately, they've already reacted to No Country for Old Men. But yeah, The Place Beyond the Pines would be a good one as well,

gobmob2000

George, you are talking about a concept known as Planned Obsolescence, however it is largely misunderstood and has a lot of myths surrounding it. It is often talked about in a negative light but there really is nothing bad about it.

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

The two eye colored kid is Stryker's son(the same one from X2), many of the kids were random mutants from the comics like Emma Frost, Riptide,Toad, Quicksilver, Psylocke and others...they were practically only references at that point. Also Liv Schreiber and Hugh Jackman met in Kate & Leopold which Simone might have already seen and if not...I recommend watching it

djKENTO

Don’t just jump into X-Men 97. It’s essentially the 6th season of a tv show.

JokerDanny

You guys still need to watch Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes

Odd Thomas

Apocalypse is meh but I LOVE Dark Phoenix. The hate that movie gets is so childish.

Paul G

As someone who has only seen bits and pieces of the X-Men franchise I for one would vote for you to watch all the movies now so we can get the full picture. I really only have one "complaint" about this channel and it's that you guys tend to walk away from franchises mid-run.

beecroft adams

A good Ryan Reynolds movie is Life from 2017. The film Defiance is worth watching.

JediLounger

I would watch all of the X-Men movies. Reynolds and Co. grab from all possible sources when riffing in Deadpool 3, it’s bonkers the number of references and in jokes that are in the script. Reynolds is in Blade: Trinity. It is not a good movie, but it’s worthy of CineCringe. There is one scene in particular that both of you would lose it over.

DeAndrew Greene

Stop at Days of Future Past. It's pretty good and is a good segue into Logan.

FischerMax98

The kid with the different colored eyes was supposed to be Strykers son (Legion) right? In x-men 2 (or 3), he got into peoples mind and had different colored eyes. I think. Lol

FischerMax98

Also for an early Ryan Reynolds film before this one, check out "Smokin' Aces". Great action and cast.

CT

Please don't skip Days of Future Past. It's great, and it provides a great capstone for the Fox X-Men.

Harold Wright

Oh man, if you're preparing for Deadpool vs Wolverine watching all these, don't miss watching the original 2005 Fantastic Four(if you haven't seen it). I tried searching to see if you reacted to it and didn't see it, don't hate me if my searching was terrible. :) Personally I enjoyed the old 2005 one. Campy but a good time, and D vs W does reference it.

REDR58

Regarding waiting around for home repair, generally speaking I’ve been pretty lucky with technicians giving me a pretty solid window but what I try to do unless it involves major repairs or annual inspections for things like the heat pump/air conditioner etc, I try to do all the home repairs I can myself. During the height of the pandemic, I learned to solder pipe, wire electrical and do other things like that around the house. Our 15 year-old hot water heater finally died a few years ago and I bought and installed / plumbed in an electrical “instant” hot water heater myself (but had to get an electrician to wire it up). It saves time, money (eventually) and gives me a sense of accomplishment that I can do basic things like home repair myself.

BangDroid

I neve saw this one before, only made it 25 mins through, it's just too cheesy for me today

Jay Davis

Regarding waiting around for home repair, you watch Cinebinge all day. What else would you do? Duh. What a stupid question!

Maiki

Days of Future Past is a must. I wouldn't mind Apocalypse, it's not amazing, but i think you'd enjoy it quite a bit. Can't remember anything from Dark Phoenix. Oh, yes, Jessica Chastain. That's it. Never seen New Mutants.

D. T. Nelson

I think I'm some sort of amalgam of Simone and George. I LOVE the idea of living in a quiet place surrounded by nature... until I wanted to eat. Then I want to be near an abundance of restaurants providing a wide range of cuisines.

djKENTO

that'd be a great one for her and Popcorn in Bed to recollab on after all this Wolverine stuff.

Graham Bullman

My strategy for home repair visits is to take the day off work, then sit at home binging your channel until they arrive. .... Oh, and nice reaction by the way.

djKENTO

After rewatching Fantastic Four this past week (which you should also watch in prep for Deadpool & Wolverine and that's all I'll say), \this wasn't so bad this time. You guys enjoyed it and that energy was infectious. I still have real issues with the story beats and terrible TERRIBLE special effects, but this wasn't so bad

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

I hope you guys do all of them including dark Phoenix and the New mutants even if it's after Deadpool 3 because while a lot of people crap on those, they're still worth watching especially for Michael fassbender and Sophie turner. And New mutants I think was very unfairly judged. It had a lot of deep themes that people really overlook. But anyway I'm here for whatever you guys want to do I'm just putting my hopes out there lol oh and George the term you're looking for about things that break at a certain point is called "Apple Products" 😂😂😂

Vwlss Nvwls

Honestly, good or bad, I enjoy all the X-Men movies, because I love the stories. Truly I get annoyed by the bad ones, but I can still manage to enjoy watching them.

Florian Geyer

I love the movies, so hyped for eveyrthing. Also I'm lingering to watch Deadpool 3 <3

David Lonewolf Wright

Oh shit, we are doing this. I haven't watched it in a long time on purpose, but here we go. I do remember liking Liev Schreiber ("Oh, shiny!"). So, this movie is okay. This version of Deadpool is awful, not a fan of this Gambit, and the acting is not that strong across the board. The actors who played Gambit (Taylor Kitsch) and Kayla Silverfox (Lynn Collins) were in John Carter which was actually pretty good, though it did not do well in the theaters. Definitely get to Days of Future Past (it is really good), but you can kind of end it there with the prequel movies in my opinion. They have some good moments here and there, but not good movies.

joejud1017

I'd really like to see your reaction to all X-Men movies, at least through Deadpool 2. A lot of MCU fans may feel their way about those movies, but in my opinion most X-Men fans enjoy them. You may also want to catch up on the MCU movies and shows (at least the popular ones) for a lot of the Deadpool 3 references you might miss.

REDR58

I don’t have time to check in the comments right now, but please be sure to watch Daredevil from 2003 particularly the Director’s cut. It will make some parts of “Deadpool & Wolverine” make more a little sense. Edit: And “Fantastic Four” from 2005.

REDR58

Do what I do when they react to bad movies. Put it on the background and do something else. That way I can listen to their reaction and not spend time paying full attention to a movie I don’t like.

Grandalf

The Canadia element at the beginning reminded me, I know you're not taking music requests right now, but a great reaction for y'all would be Unleash the Archers version of Northwest Passage. They're an amazing Canadian Power Metal band that I'm sure you'd both love.

John

I would echo others who advised to watch Fantastic Four from the early 00s before Deadpool 3. The basis of Wolverine is in someways pain and struggling to overcome his animalistic nature (i.e. Sabertooth). I think there is a better movie trapped in this without Deadpool but focusing on Victor's descent into Sadism and his relationship to Wolverine during WWII or Vietnam, what does immortality and non-stop violence do to a character, and Wolverine's choice to seek a more peaceful life. That is what frustrates me about this movie. I would recommend watching the Original X-men cartoon, but you could do polls on each season and watch the recommended 4-5 episodes so you would not need to watch the entire series but would get important information(borrowing from popcorn in bed). Thanks as always for the great content.

John

Days of Future Past is great and you should watch it.

Grandalf

Between this and Game of Thrones, I'm starting to wonder if David Benioff is even capable of writing a good ending. Hopefully he figures it out before he gets to the end of Three Body Problem.

Hi I'm George Junior, but my friends call me Geo-Ju

I'm glad you're making it a thing to knock out more of the Fox X-men stuff before Deadpool and Wolverine. I myself haven't seen it so anything I say isn't a spoiler but it's just a known thing it's goal is to pay off a bunch of the Fox stuff. Now on to this movie. Simone made a comment something like "It's cool to know that Cyclops and Wolverine have been in the same place before" before they met in the first X-men. Nothing in this movie is actually canon to anything in any other movies. To it's credit, it's actually not TERRIBLE when you consider it was made during a writers strike. So I give it something of a pass, but that being said the writing is super sloppy, characters show up, but then show up later in different movies and the ages don't line up. So they just decided to move past this one. Fox/Xmen have already been sort of sloppy with keeping straight canon but this movie really doesn't line up. Also. Gambit's power. He can charge inanimate objects with kinetic energy. And those objects then explode when thrown at something. He can do it with things other than playing cards but he just prefers them. His body being able to do this also makes him super agile and athletic. Lastly. Vibranium vs Adamantium. Both have their pluses. Adamantium is stronger. But vibranium is lighter, still very strong, and withstands a bunch of force because it deflects energy away from it on impact. Wolverine couldn't have a vibranium skeleton because it would essentially cause little explosions in his body on impact LOL. So having a shield made from vibranium can withstand getting hit with Thors hammer deflecting that energy back at Thor keeping the person holding the shield safe. If the shield were made of adamantium, the shield wouldn't break, but the holder would feel ALL of that impact and be sent flying LOL.

Chase Schleich

Just be forewarned. From this point on, the timeline will no longer make any sense. Fox gave up on having a timeline around this point and just started making whatever they wanted to make with whatever characters they wanted whether it made sense or not.

Michael Green

This isn't really a terrible movie, as these things go? There's a couple of decent ideas that could have made for a good movie if better developed, and the action is fine if sometimes goofy, but the dialogue is just so aggressively mediocre that it's distracting to me, heh.

Michael Green

Oh, also the Xbox 360 game was weirdly good, as I recall.

Monica Alarcon

Watch Days of Future Past... skip Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix...

FranciscoGios

Way back when I had a job that was not flexible of me taking off to do a “personal errand” I would have to call the contractor or who ever will work in the house to tell them to come the day I’m not working. I think you guys will have fun watching Days of Future Past, X-Men Apocalypse is meh but I hope you guys won’t skip it. I enjoyed New Mutants. The Dark Phoenix skip it like the plague. Oh and don’t underestimate Cyclops, there’s a good reason why Xavier has him as leader of the X-Men.

Matthew Bazan

They call him Logan because its his last name, James Logan

REDR58

This is why it’s so worth it with these sorts of genre movies when there’s dedicated people (or a single person) following some sort of a semblance of a plan or a good story Bible that lets them keep track of everything. The needlessly contradictory mess of the X-Men series gets really hard to follow and enjoy after a while.

Skyruff

Totally my opinion but for the remaining X-men movies: “X-men first class” and “Logan” are must sees. “Days of future past” and “the wolverine” are worth seeing but not must see. The rest are … only if they are in the bargain bin and you are really board. They are not bad movies per say … just bad X-men movies.

Skyruff

Yes, that movie exists a few different times. Hickcock did one. It even happened to Steven Segal and it was my favorite part of the movie.

Mitchell Bowker

X-Men: Days of Future Past does focus on the other X-Men characters, but it also has a LOT of Wolverine in it.

John

That's a nice summary, I'm sure somewhere in a comic book they discuss this but since Vibranium has healing properties, I wonder what this would do for Wolverine's health factor? Would it be overcharged like when Magneto removed his adamantium in the comics?

John

I thought Logan was his middle name and his last name is Howlett

REDR58

It’s so strange how bad the visual effects are with the adamantium claws in particular especially when you consider that there are a lot of good-looking visual effects, including a good number of practical ones in this movie. The claws are one of the most important aspects to the character and in this movie they just look awful. It couldn’t have been that much more expensive to fabricate real props rather than the CG ones and they would have looked so much better when extended.

Chase Schleich

I really hope you guys are planning on doing Alien: Romulus when it comes to digital. You don't need to watch Alien 3 or Resurrection since it takes place in between Alien and Aliens on the timeline. Really liked it and I think it would make for a very popular reaction video.

Nate Terry

I fix it myself. doesnt' help you I know. but I hate relying on others...even strangers and I'm a cheapskate. I've become essentially a handy man. I work on my own appliances and my own plumbing and electrical. When I learn about something, I like learning as much about it as possible. Plus, I live literally out in the country. the closest town has a population of 500 ppl.

droodly

I don't know if “Days of future past” has any relevance to Deadpool 3 (haven't seen it yet), but it has lots of wolverine in it if that's what yer after. Plus it is pretty great. Probably my 2nd favorite after Logan.

jstraight52

There are films where the main character dies half-way through. I can't say which, for spoilers sake, but go seek out Alfred Hitchcock. One of his films has what you seek. There are others as well.

REDR58

I’ve gotten as far as simple plumbing and electrical work myself. I don’t want to pay a plumber hundred dollars to come out and look at something I can fix myself.

REDR58

Simone and George, you didn’t seem to recognize or note the significance of it, but 3 Mile Island is a real place and was the site of the worst commercial nuclear reactor accident in the United States. It is located on the Susquahanna River near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 1979 there was an accidental release of radioactive gases and and iodine. While the particular reactor in the accident was shut down permanently at the time, parts of the rest of facility were still operating until 2019.

Green Nolan

"scream" might be one. Drew Barrymore was heavily advertised as the main character.

simon brouillard

The Wolverine, First Class and days of future past than Logan, apocalypse and dark phoenix are not necessary viewing for Logan

Vwlss Nvwls

If I were able to get hold of the original cartoon series, I would love watching it again with you two. Rogue and Gambit were always my favorite in the comics/cartoons, mostly because I always thought of Wolverine as an enemy to Spider-man from the comics he was in there. Hey... I was just a kid :D

Vwlss Nvwls

The frozen kid with one blue and one green eye is Styker's son.

Nate Terry

Gambit has the ability to transfer kinetic energy into an object and make it explode. He loves playing cards and so he usually makes cards explode at his opponents. but he can make any object explode.

Vwlss Nvwls

I have seen a movie where a main character dies, and it was the first time I ever saw that, back in the mid 80s.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

It's probably just because I'm still a little pissed about Game Of Thrones season 8, but I'm blaming David Benioff for taking Deadpool, using him for a little extra clout, and making him a fairly ridiculous character in this. I agree that Liev Shreiber was a great Sabertooth, I've never before seen him as a villain, I've seen him as an antihero, but he did a fantastic job as a bad guy in this. By the way, if you haven't seen it, check out Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds on Hot Ones, it's a pretty fun interview, I love their rapport and Ryan Reynolds is funny as hell as usual.

Superpotroast

Strange, I had a different end credits scene..I rented this on Amazon, and it had a scene of Logan drinking at a bar, but I feel like I've rented this from Amazon a few years ago and it had the other scene.. Also, during the Gambit poker scene, there is a cameo by actual professional poker player Daniel Negreanu..

PeppermintWizardOfAus

Definitely definitely definitely need to add Days of Future Past to the list after The Wolverine

REDR58

Apparently not all the endings were shown in all countries of release. Here is the bar scene but as far as I'm aware, this never goes anywhere and has no connection to the next Wolverine movie. It's not on my copy of the movies digital release that came with my US Blu-ray. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkSD9erd98k

droodly

So thinking about this more, I'm starting to wonder if we've got a Batman\Batman Returns situation here. If this is a tour of Wolverine movies, Days of future past is far more relevant than First Class. First Class is pretty necessary to Days of future past though, so prolly best to watch both. :P

Steve kephart

New suggestion for you guys that is a bit different. You guys should do a reaction to The Blue Collar Comedy Tour. I'm guessing it would be new for both of you. It's just 4 redneck commedians doing standup and is really funny. It was immensely popular about 20 years ago.

Philipp Roensch

Glad you see more of the Mutant-Verse, even if this one is certified CineCringe™ :D

REDR58

The Gambit movie fell into development hell years ago and was never made. But to say much more about it right now gets dangerously into spoiler territory.

Odd Thomas

If I had to pick the worst, The Wolverine is painfully boring but I'd still enjoy your reaction to it, and I think Logan will hit you a lot harder now you've seen all the previous entries.

Ballsac McGee

I hontestly don't mind the deadpool thing. I don't even believe in fans having human rights so I'm hard pressed to sympathise with them about an unfaithful adaptation of their favourite character.

AJ Lynch

I think another reason why and how this movie got so much hate is because it had the biggest leak in marvel history. The entire movie was leaked way before the movie was even released where you could see the wires and stuff and all it would take is one person to say its shit, then that person tells two others, and they would tell their friends, so on and so forth. This ultimately destroyed the box office for them and everyone jumped on the bandwagon as it being a terrible movie. They were planning on doing a series of Origin movies including one called Origins: Magneto, but with the backlash of this one, the idea fell through.

AJ Lynch

The Wolverine for me is my favorite! I think it's a little more down to earth (if there is such a thing in a comic book movie). I just think that movie should have been rated R and made a little better. I honestly think Logan is a little boring.

dieselbeast

I'm glad you liked it Simone! its a great film! this is a perfect example of make your own opinion and not let outside thoughts dictate what you think

dieselbeast

and apocalypse is absolutely worth it!!!

Noel Valdez

I first saw this movie as a kid so I have a very soft place for it. I was obsessed with X-Men for a while when I was young and watched all these religiously.

Noel Valdez

I hope you guys watch Spiderman 3 someday! These movies came out when I was a kid so I always thought I was strange for liking them. This and Spiderman 3, but I'm glad this isn't as bad as people make it out to be. At least for you two!

Logan Kerlee

Great job reacting to this one you guys! :) Super enjoyed the watchalong.

Joe

Do not skip Days of Future Past

The Maestro

gambits thing is putting energy into things and then they explode you'll see more of him in the cartoon when you get to it

Amelie W

I do know one movie where the main character shoots himself before the third act, in order to convince certain allies of certain arguments so they'll save the day for him. Good news, I have no idea what the movie is called or anything except it's probably Korean, I only had a friend tell me about it 30 years ago. The chance you'll end up watching it is low, but now you know it exists!
