2026-09-09 01:00 You ask about Xavier’s death in comics, he’s died several times and they always bring him back

There’s a running joke with marvel comic readers that only uncle Ben stays dead

Christian Sander

Imho, spare yourselves the 2 remaining X-Men movies...

BoredLittleLady

If you want to see more from the actress that plays Laura, she starred in the series “His Dark Materials”. I recommend it.

BoredLittleLady

I don’t think you’re missing out on anything if you watch “Apocalypse” or “Dark Phoenix” but I’ll still recommend “New Mutants” it’s an enjoyable movie, in my opinion. It has horror elements. Perfect for Halloween season. New Mutants also stars Anya Taylor Joy and she never disappoints!

Da Big Appa

And His Dark Materials co stars James McAvoy so you more X Men connections.

[opening] Are we being invited to a bris?

Simone is right, the way Logan pleads with Xavier to understand that it wasn't him is HEARTBREAKING. In their very last moments together, Logan desperately wants Xavier to know that he didn't bear him ill will. For me, that is the very center of the whole movie. The movie they watch in the hotel is "Shane". it's a classic western, and this film has a lot of parallels. It may be worth watching on its own. There is no canonical end to Professor X in the comics, he's alive and active currently. Another comment mentioned that he has died here-and-there in comic history, but he's always come back after various lengths of time (Sometimes very short, sometimes longer). Several comics have taken place in "the future" where he has since passed away "for real", but none of those have THE definitive answer. Wolverine does need to sleep, and always has. Sleep may be "healing" in some ways, but not the type of healing that his powers perform. Sometimes he is shown to be able to go without sleep for LONGER than a normal human (Where it becomes actively dangerous after a few days), but he always needs to "turn off" eventually.

JBK405

The joke USED to be "In comics, nobody stays dead except for Bucky, Uncle Ben, and Jason Todd." But now that both Bucky and Jason Todd have come back to life that just leaves ol' Ben all alone.

Anamondaris

I may be wrong but I think Captain America was Weapon 1.

Adam Custer

make sure to add the movie The New Mutants to your list.

Godrick

when youre wondering about wolverines abilities its best to just think wild animal. They can go up to a week without sleep before they collapse from exhaustion, the healing factor has limits, but the healing factor still provides limitless stamina during that entire time. I know that seems contradictory, but this is comics we're talking about XD

Godrick

To answer George's other question about professor x's death, yes... sorta. Super hero comics are known for finding a way to bring characters back to life, and X-men comics are some of the most notorious. The cannonical death of professor X was later "revealed" to be one of him faking his death to prepare for an alien he may have caused after his previous "death"

For whatever it's worth, if you're doing full prep for Deadpool & Wolverine, you should probably go back and revisit all the old Fox Marvel movies... Trust me, it'll help.

droodly

I think it's supposed to be the evil genetically engineered clone of Simone? Maybe? /Shrug

Hello George! In the comics, the Weapon Plus programs vary but for the most part are these: I - Captain America II - Literally a random squirrel III - Skinless Man, a mutant with suprehuman touch IV - Man-Thing V - Mercury Team, basically Venom-powered super soldiers VI - Luke Cage VII - Scourge, a schizophrenic, adrenaline pill-fueled super soldier VIII - Unnamed mutate with the ability to trigger sleeper agents through hypnosis (or Peter Parker in an alternate timeline) IX - Typhoid Mary X - Hugh Jackman XI - Abandoned project XII - Huntsman, a colony of nano-Sentinels XIII - Fantomex XIV - The Stepford Cuckoos, a team of Emma Frost clones XV - Ultimaton, a livng anti-mutant weapon, basically a super Sentinel XVI - Allgod, a virus that manifests itself as a living religion

HeyHeyJK

Yeah, but nothing really happens in that movie. it's so boring they could technically skip it and not miss much.

Jasbro

I do like that you put Hugh Jackman instead of Wolverine lol

Bambi990

There was a version of this movie in black and white on the bluray. I actually preferred that version. It almost felt like it stripped another super hero layer away and let it get closer to a modern western feel along the lines of No Country for Old Men. I remember the music being exactly the same but it feeling so different. I would highly recommend it if you want a reason to re-watch this movie again. side note: Hell or High Water with Chris Pine and Wind River with Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner are both great modern western type films written by Taylor Sheridan the writer of Sicario.

Lachlan Smith

Fun fact X23 is also a reference to the fact that Laura was created from an incomplete sample of Wolverine's DNA. They had to duplicate his X chromosome (the 23rd pair of chromosomes) as the Y was damaged. This resulted in X23 being a girl instead of a boy.

JoeNotCharles

"Weapon X" meaning he's the 10th one is a retcon. I always thought retroactively saying Captain America - the first super-soldier - was "Weapon 1" is genius, but most of the other people they slot into the list are pretty dumb.

BoredLittleLady

I only knew that X23 is an original character from the animated series X-Men: Evolution. I love learning about the lore behind all these characters.

Lachlan Smith

Also, in regards to the comment about the metal poisoning. Only Laura claws are coated in Adamantine not her entire skeleton. This means she'll be able to grow normally and hopefully not suffer from the toxicity at an early age

Happy Hanukkah

Background Simone is holding a microphone. Simone and George have caught wind that the dreaded MSM is planning an exposé on their nefarious activities.

Happy Hanukkah

Hot take: Apart from this movie, no. It's unnecessary for what is cheap nostalgia bait. At most, take two minutes to look up the characters.

Happy Hanukkah

II - who for some strange reason gets very irate when people mistake him for a racoon. :-)

Phalanx

To each their own, but some of the gags are intended to be, and generally are far more enjoyable if you go in knowing the characters and who played them. Beyond that, some of them are legitimately good movies.

strange shadow

Given how bad some of the 20th Century Fox Wolverine and X-Men films are, it is really remarkable how good this film is. Kudos to Mangold, Jackman, and the entire cast and crew.

Scott CineRam

I knew what was going on with the two Simones in the Mission Impossible 3 thumbnail. This one, I'm at a loss.

rictus grin

this is by far the best X-men movie
