We need a new show to replace Black Mirror in between seasons of Better Call Saul! So here's a poll from the tv backlog base on what you all have suggested! This is of course not EVERY show thats in the backlog, and this will not be the last poll ever either so if the show you specifically want isnt on here this time, there will be another poll down the road! Lastly, be nice. If the show you personally want isn't winning, it does not give you the right to insult or demean everyone else for voting differently. Nor does it mean the show you want will never be watched, it will just be watched at a later time. If anything, we're less likely to want to watch something with toxic fans that demean others for having different preferences.

Śéáń

Haunting of Hill House lets gooooo Though I have voted for over half of the options in this poll. Good poll.

SmallWoodenDuck

So many good options here. Hill house first though.

Brazilian_Rebel

Can I make a Thriller Suggestion, Have you guys heard of The Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher Phone Booth with Colin Farrell IDENTITY with John Cusack or Gothika with Halle Berry !?

Jason McCloud

Shogun is absolutely fantastic, you would not be disappointed

Dustin

Severance is sooo good

UNC

Succession cmon people let’s do it!!

Leigh P

Derry Girls. Father Ted meets the Inbetweeners.

Amar

"The Good place" for the next short poll please.

Alec Zrike

For future consideration: The Orville

China Andronicus

If you ever watch Shogun, please watch the original. It’s so much better, and no one beats Toshiro Mifune.

Deco

Hell of a poll but gotta be haunting of hill house

Jeff K.

Hoping for Succession but not looking good. Shogun is great and only one season though, so I’m good with that.

Chris B

oh damn, Queen Gambit for me is a 10/10 show. It's a pity Simone has seen it, although George needs to see this too, sooner or later.

dudewheresmycar

Shogun is by far the best thing on this list.

Patches

Would love to see Peaky blinders on the next poll, maybe after Better Call Saul is done, Cillian Murphy is always a win. Have an Awesome Day

Kameron Webb

Haunting of hill house is a masterpiece and right in time for spooky season

m

Shogun is great, but Severance is the easiest pick I'll ever make. Such a good show.

Gabriel L.

Agree with Haunting and Shogun in the lead, BUT y'all are sleeping on Derry Girls. Such a fun and fast show.

Alex Ch

Haven’t seen either of the vote leaders so I’m looking forward to what you all decide.

DocteurJL

Doesn't seem like Severance is winning, so I hope it wil be in the next poll, that show blew my mind

BoredLittleLady

I’m voting for what I know and “Queen’s Gambit” has Anya Taylor-Joy!!! and “Severance” has suspense… I’m thinking of other gems, I have to recommend “Fleabag”.

Tsuyama

dude its been 10 minutes since the poll went up lmao. 568 votes casted. their usual polls gets like thousands. how you throwing in the towel already hahaha

DocteurJL

I'm french, I know what defeat is ahah

Adam S

Severance is amazing! Can’t wait for the next season!

Brendan Rafferty

Derry Girls is great. Only six episodes per season First season is brilliant Second season is good Third (final) season is weak

AdmiralZhou

Please watch Severance. It’s so incredible. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen

Diiirk706

Yeah. If Queen's is only new to George, and Hill House is on here, I agree. Also; added bonus; it is "Spooky Season", AND Hill House is PHENOMENAL. So much so, that IF it wins here, Cinebinge'll be the third Reactors this month alone making me rewatch it, loool. Here's to hoping🤞🤞🤞

Smooticus

If youi do Shogun, you should also do the 1980 mini series. It still stands up and is a good camparison, where the new version focuses on the political machinations in the book, the older version centers on Anjin and Mariko's romance amidst all the intrigue. Both are very good adaptations.

Diiirk706

Hah. I prefer 3:03

Jeff I.

Had to give Succession and Severance a vote, but really hoping Hill House pulls ahead of Shogun. Hill House would make for a much better reaction, I think.

Levi Curry

Even if Legend of Vox Machina doesn't win, I hope you guys do watch it at some point. Such a great show and the new season is shaping up to be a banger.

Brandon Ward

So many good shows, went with Hill House.

DM DC

Been hoping they would introduce George to The Legends of Vox Machina for a long time. I think he would really enjoy it. I am wondering if either of them have seen Burn Notice. Only 7 seasons, excellent show.

Parabolica

Queens Gambit for the win as it is truly a short show, the others seem more like possible bigger shows to replace BCS when the time comes.

probablyKoi

it doesn’t look to be winning but Severance is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched - really hope it comes up at some point

slowprodigy

Quentin Tarantino loves defeat.

Mastervodo

Shogun was awesome! Hope it wins!

lovemoose

Omg haunting of hill house is a must

Addie Pollack

put The Good Place in your next poll!

Jinyatta

Not on the list, but I would recommend Yellowjackets

Tim T—

Back in summer I suggested a TV series tournament (The Euros were on at the time). Watch multiple pilot episodes of different shows with votes afterwards. Only half of them go onto the next round which consists then of watching episode 2. And so on, until there is only one champion show standing which then gets watched in full.

mky

Toshiro Mifune yes, but Richard Chamberlain? 😜 (Remember those Shogun/King Rat/Tai-Pan white paperback boxed sets? Yeah, I'm old. 👴)

slowprodigy

I haven't seen any of these shows so I can't vote. You should just react to only shows I've seen. Here's a list: 1. Blue's Clues 2. Blue's Clues behind the scenes DVD content.

Tim T—

One short show I particularly like is Luck (2011) - but I'm afraid it's not Simone-compatible because of animal deaths.

Kozmo

I’m down for either Hill House or Severance. They still have time to watch Severance after BCS season 3 and before season 2 so I’m gonna lean Hill House because it’s October.

Alexrandom

Voted ! For other shows Watchmen and the leftovers ;)

Shawnie

Great picks. My Dogs name is Garvey after Kevin haha

Anonymous Groucho

I don't have a dog in this fight, so I'm going to pick one at random and loudly exclaim its superiority to the others and then tell them they should really watch some random personal pick of mine. So it should be Derry Girls. Anyone who says otherwise is stupid. Also, when are you guys going to start finally watching Gunsmoke for God's sake? (By calling others stupid, I fulfilled my role as Guy On the Internet. Also, I selected Gunsmoke as one of the longest running series in history that would have to be completed generationally by George and Simone's children.)

Kozmo

I will say I sometimes wish George and Simons just audibled and picked the shows they want to watch more from these lists. At the end of the day I can never get upset at what they want to check out.

Denashi

Voted for Shōgun and Severance, both amazing shows!

Alexrandom

That's nice ! :) I just love Lindelof as a showrunner. Lost is one of my favourite show ever.

Nathan Jasper

I'd like to request Snowpiercer for the future. It's just Four seasons so it'd probably go well under the short series poll.

Richard Burrell

You guys NEED to watch Manchester by the Sea and Vanilla Sky! I promise you they will both affect you in hugely different ways!

j c

I can't believe you didn't include As The World Turns. It's only 54 seasons!

Brandon

Chant with me: Flan-a-gan! Flan-a-gan! Hill House will probably win, but I hope they get to Shogun somewhere in the near future as well. The second season is probably still a long way off so there's plenty of time to catch up.

ShōNuff3K

I agree, I'm in West Virginia.

Allen S.

If we vote for stuff will you actually finish it or will your weakness shine through and cause the show to be pulled midway through?

G P

Recommending: OZ The Sopranos Fawlty Towers

China Andronicus

I second that. Chamberlain was a babe as well. 💕 His replacement in the remake couldn’t come near his charisma. And oh, I remember well. He was my dad’s second favorite author, after Graham Greene. I grew up in a house of film nerds and book collectors. I used to refer to my dad’s office as the Inner Sanctum because it’s where the case was that contained about forty first edition novels of Clavell and Greene. I loved going book hunting with him back in the day before the internet when you could still find first editions in stores. Now it’s all online. 😭

James Lawson

Mildly still hope for Farscape. Only 4 seasons and a mini movie!

Zhivko Yakimov

"Severance" - very good, though it is yet to be seen if the second season will match the first (it is due to premiere in early 2025), but definitely worth having a look. "Succession" - definitely worth the hype, it has the strongest acting performances in the past few years. However, I am a bit confused how it fits the "small shows" definition, as it has 39 full-hour episodes. I mean, I give it two thumbs up, but still, not really a small show ... "Derry Girls" - the first two seasons are pure gold, and we are talking six half-hour episodes per season, so this first the "small show" category the best :) You might need to turn on subtitles for this one, though, as everyone speaks with a very thick Northern Irish accent (which is adorable, by the way) "Shogun" - it is effectively a miniseries, I think all this talk of a second season was mostly to justify putting it in the regular series category for various awards, rather than in the miniseries one, where the competition was just too strong this time. I find this version a better adaption of James Clavell's book, though the first version is also great (and has Toshiro Mifune, frequently used by Kurosawa) "The Queen's Gambit" - another book adaption, and as usual, Anya Taylor Joy is great, as almost always she is in. A nice little mini series, worth watching even if it doesn't win the poll "The Legend of Vox Machina" - I admit I fell out with Critical Role during their third season, I no longer feel it is to me, even though I have the utmost respect for those guys. The first season of this is really great, and an amazing adaption of the Briarwoods arc of their first campaign. The second one was ok, but not so great, I haven't seen the third yet. Still, not a big time investment. So ... given that "Succession" was included, let me offer another, relatively short series, for future consideration. What I propose is "Sense8", a series produced by Lana Wachowski (as in "The Matrix" Wachowski). Its genre is very difficult to describe - it is broadly soft sci-fi, I guess (it takes place in modern day), but there is really nothing like it on TV. It has two seasons of 12 episodes each, and a 2.5-hour TV movie that wraps up the story. The main reason it was cancelled (they planned 5 seasons initially) was production costs, as the series takes place across the world, and every single scene is shot on location. I think you will enjoy this, so I would appreciate it if you consider it for future polls.

Tsuyama

just woke up today and chose to be a dick huh. if they arent enjoying something, whats the point of forcing their way through? and what, we get to watch 2 ppl not enjoy something every week?

howtocookazombie (Stan)

I don't know any of these shows. 😮I guess I'll watch them with you then together.

ShōNuff3K

I feel an emotion at the very end of Vanilla Sky that I don't think I come across very much. Hard to put it into words. It might be the middle point between sadness and hope.

pinkdino99

Derry Girls is hilarious and you'll be done in 2-3 days

ShōNuff3K

Do I feel Shogun is overrated because I was alive to see the original with Richard Chamberlain? It's good, but people looove it.

ShōNuff3K

I voted for Severance & Hill House.

Kovacs

I held on from watching Severance for the longest time and after checking out the first episode I couldn’t put it down, it’s one of the best mystery box shows I’ve seen in any long time

Gryff

Can I suggest adding Stargate SG:1 to some list somewhere. Thankee

ShōNuff3K

Darn it! I would have been torn 3 ways if Fargo season 1 was in the poll.

MR

The poll is absolutely missing "Fargo"

Daniel Smith

I’m going to live their reaction to the accents!

Steven Cavanagh

Dam I'm surprised Vox Machinas doing as bad as it is.

Daniel Smith

Fleabag is a great short show for future consideration. Very interesting from a creative perspective and incredible performances from the two “sisters”

Michael

Bit of a inadvertent spoiler for them in this comment, no? Anyway you could make it more vague?

darkmoobs

So many good options, but I never thought y’all would do Haunting of Hill House. Absolutely a modern classic. I hope you guys check it out even if it doesn’t win.

Michael

Shogun, Severence, Hill House (and all 4 of Flanagan's Netflix shows) are must-watches in my opinion =)

Steven Cavanagh

Fall of House Usher is such a great show.

Jeromy M

The Original adoption and literature are amazing. Still enjoyed the new one for what it is.

Ian Hunt

Hill house is a good shout as a gateway to the other Mike Flanagan series, Shogun is excellent. Would echo the other people saying Fargo - as its an anthology you could watch one series and then potentially leave it for a while before starting another

Peter Vasey

For something less heavy and a change of pace between big shows I recommend I Think You Should Leave - 3 seasons of short episodes, 1 season a week

cheech

Twin Peaks! Twin Peaks! Twin Peaks!

HeyHeyJK

I love that show so much.

Pamela Hofman

Severance is ground-breaking, in my opinion. Many people won't watch it because it's on Apple+ TV. It's a crime that it's not getting more attention. It deserves it. It's only one season so you could knock it out quickly.

Mike FromOz

Agreed. It takes a while to dump the Family Guy nature of some of the jokes, but when it gets rolling, it's really great. "LATCHCOMB!"

HeyHeyJK

I feel like Simone has mentioned before that she's seen it, but it's one of the greatest shows ever, for sure.

Damian Christopher

Voting for Hill House. Would love to see Barry on a future poll.

HeyHeyJK

I'm probably watching 4-5 other reaction channels doing "The Haunting of Hill House" right now, and I've watched maybe that many before but I will happily - giddily, even - watch S&G react to it. One of the greatest single series of TV ever (although, so is "The Queen's Gambit" but doesn't look like it's going to place).

Smanuelle

Damn I didn't think Vox Machina would do so poorly in comparison to the rest. So it's a piper dream after all.

Diiirk706

Fargo seasons 1, and 3 are just TOPS, eugh🤩

HeyHeyJK

The first season of that show just left me spellbound and had a emotional resonance I don't think I've ever felt with another show. I feel like anyone who watched it now should stop after S1, not the least because S2 ended on such a cliffhanger and then got cancelled so they didn't get to finish telling the story.

Śéáń

I'm having a great October seeing all the channels finally catch on to it. That and Midnight Mass are two favourite choices to see.

Śéáń

I'd say shows that aren't new to both get skewed a bit, but in this case it's up against a lot of heavy hitters too. It'll definitely have it's time though, I'm sure.

Nathan

I normally put a vote for every film/show but Derry girls id vote for 100 times over I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. it's a great show

Wil Morales

100% agree with this take, one of those shows that stays with you and probably one of the best TV shows of the last few years

theLandofLiz

Oh god pleeeaseee Severence, I feel like I never see reactors do that one

Kevin

My top vote is Succession because I think it is by a margin the best show on the list. But I voted for Severance first because its short and also great.

HeyHeyJK

Also, I know it will never show up on a poll, or win if it did, but "The End of the F**king World" is one of my favorite series of all time. I would encourage G&S to watch it on their own. They would have to get past the initial residual reaction to Alex Lawther being in it - having starred in a soul-sickening episode of "Black Mirror" they reacted to recently - but it's just a fantastic show if you like dark humor. And, speaking of shows that'll never make the poll, it was that specific episode of "BM" - 'Shut up and Dance' - that made my soul feel so dirty I immediately went to find something else to watch to try and get it out of my system. That led me to a thumbnail of a show I'd never heard of called "Detectorists" with Mackenzie Crook - who played Gareth (the original 'Dwight') on the UK "The Office", along with the amazing character actor, Toby Jones, as men who scour the fields of England with their metal detectors looking for gold and long lost treasures. I decided to check it out and it was just what I needed. Such a quiet comedy that quickly became one of my favorite shows of all time.

pinkdino99

Michelle's introduction is eye opening !

darkmoobs

I think they would love that show.

HeyHeyJK

Yeah, out of the Flanagan series, those are top two for me, also. I really liked "The Haunting of Bly Manor" although because it wasn't as scary as THoHH a lot of people didn't take to it, as well, and "The Fall of the House of Usher" was really good but, in some ways, my least favorite of the four. What's always fun, though, is seeing all the actors in the 'Flanafam' show up in different roles in the different series.

Jirka Šulc

Oh, Vox Machina is the last 😢 That's a perfect show for fantasty nerds 🤣

HeyHeyJK

I keep pushing "Barry" because they have admitted their love of Bill Hader multiple times, and it is one of the greatest shows of this century, for sure. Plus, short seasons of short episodes and Bill is just fantastic, as actor, writer, AND director. Plus the rest of the cast is just perfection, as well. Maybe one day. RIGHT CINEBINGE? MAYBE ONE DAY???

AVATAR-X

The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1993). Ran for a total of 27 episodes. A Sci-fi/Western/Comedy. It was like a mix of Firefly (without the spaceships) and Indiana Jones (without the Nazis). Staring Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness).

Allen S.

Nope, unsubscribed last night then got this stupid poll in my notifications and chose to comment.

p0sthum4n

Succession is the best show on this list by a wide margin. Rip.

Tsuyama

cool cool cool, thanks for confirming that you are indeed just choosing to be a dick for no reason. but also that since youre not even a sub, your opinion doesnt matter at all. and even better is that despite you choosing to unsub, you have so little going on in your life that you decided to come back and leave some petty comment. what a sad existence you have.

Ootlander

I once again find myself asking who is coming up with these lists, oof. Fargo is the correct answer for a quick 10 episode season.

Tsuyama

are these are what patrons recommend. ive seen every one of these in comments for months if not years. but again, just cuase YOU personally dont like these shows, doesnt make them "oof so bad".

Samuel Bruce

Can't go wrong with shogun or haunting of hill house

Robbie Corrie

A heads up with Derry Girls is that the Netflix versions do chop and change a few of the songs for copyright issues, it might be worth hunting down the Channel 4 original broadcasts if you want the full effect, especially during the series 1 finale

Inkpendude

oh no, Severance is NOT gonna win :(

Anamondaris

It got my vote instantly!

Inkpendude

Check out movieman101 reactions to severance, he just reacted to the last episode

Twisty Twitties

Haunting of Hill House or Shogun, either will do me

dasgrove

Please do Vox Machina. The mix of Simone's knowledge and George's ignorance would be delightful.

Brent bmc_comix

X-Men 97!!! :) one season 10 episodes!!!!

mike

For the love of everything fantastic please watch haunting of hill house!

FNGnarles

Deadwood, Rome and The Leftovers at some point please and thank you.

Dorran

I mean... Arcane season 2 is about to start dropping next month...

JohnB

The Good Place! Please.

Lex Kuzma

Oh man, I would love to see how they like Deadwood!

Michael Robayo

Midnight Mass should be on this list.

Lex Kuzma

I'm just gonna keep plugging Counterpart for the fantastic JK Simmons. Though I'd understand if it's just not popular enough to do.

Flori85

Yeah, definitely! And it is VERY short und therefore could fit in well.

Opti_Frog

Voting for Shogun (best show of 2024), Severance and Derry Girls.

Opti_Frog

Sadly, i don't think you need to worry about this.

Opti_Frog

If you need an excuse to watch it, it can't have been very good? 😄

jose giron

The mike flannagan verse on netflix should be one package imo. Should be 3 seasons of hill house, bly mannor, and midnight mass. But also how you gonna make me choose between severance, succession, and hill house jeez 😂😂😂😂 they're all excellent

Tyler Foster

Putting in my usual request for the two-season, 14-episode sitcom "Spaced" to be considered for a short TV poll in the future. This was the show that Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost all worked on before they went onto do the Cornetto trilogy, including an episode that ultimately led to Shaun of the Dead. It also features several cast members from throughout the Cornetto trilogy, who were in those movies as a hat tip to "Spaced." It's perfect for a reaction channel because it's wall-to-wall pop culture references you'll get because you just watched almost all of the stuff they're referencing ("The A-Team" being one of the few things that I don't think is likely to come up on the channel).

proVaxxer

None of these speak to me but Ozark and Deadwood are both great shows that could be added to polls like this.

Andy Rio

I wish you could see the Legend of Vox Machina.

maikeru

Recently someone wrote S&G didn‘t enjoy watching Arcane much (or didn’t SEEM to enjoy), I don‘t know if that is true cuz I haven‘t watched those reactions yet.

jose giron

I would argue hill house, but succesion is peak HBO for sure 😀

jmundt33a

Shogun and Queen’s Gambit. Special mention for Bunheads.

G P

Twin Peaks!

jose giron

I would agree but also since this is a reaction channel it would be too short right now to get picked, succesion is peak television imo and that show is finished, I would go with that one right now and in 2025 I would start severance

Philipp Roensch

Did not expect Shogun to be 'short' but that would be a nice watch together.

Neumann

It's October, you GOTTA do haunting of hill house!

Robin Greed

God i wish legend of vox machina wasnt so niche

Bill Woods

From the Earth to the Moon (1998) -- Tom Hanks' 12-part miniseries on the Apollo program. Could precede with October Sky (1999) -- Jake Gyllenhaal's reaction to Sputnik, and The Right Stuff (1983) -- the Mercury program.

Jenny-gave-forrest-aids

I lnow all of this shows are great. A couple are excellent. But Severance is think by far is the most interesting and captivating one. Just my 2 cents herr.

Perry Campbell

Dang I must be getting old never heard of any of those 😢 I know it’s a guy show but have they ever voted on Reacher season 1 & 2 ?

Stewart Denew

A few extra TV suggestions for you; Short ones; Coupling (UK version not the US adaptation) Dead Set Sharpe Longer ones; Babylon 5 Farscape

MoonageDaydream

I’m so sad Severence is behind!!! So underrated

Michael Johnson

Haunting of Hill House is sooo good. Been meaning to rewatch. You should watch the Channel Zero seasons at some point. Really good horror anthology.

Bruce Liddle

I just finished watching all 3 seasons of Fortitude. Totally batshit, but, brilliant. Thoroughly recommend.

Bruce Liddle

I watched the original Right Stuff as a mini series when it was first broadcast. Works way better as a long film though. Great cast and acting. October Sky is ace.

Jesse Coombs

Ha. Another Bunheads fan. That's so rare.

Stephanie Bedworth

I'm shocked you guys haven't jumped back into HotD yet.

Dre2up

Really hoping Severance wins. It’s really good!

Da Big Appa

The new season of Vox Machina is good so far. Love that show.

Alan Kobb

All of you who voted for Haunting of Hill House are wonderful and intelligent people whom I have great affection and respect for. However, you kind and generous people have made the wrong choice and should immediately change your vote!

Da Big Appa

*Golf clap* well done sir and keeping it respectful.

Ari Ramirez

Just finished Severance literally yesterday so I feel the immediate need to preach the gospel

jmundt33a

I mentioned Bunheads in the last Ask Us Anything and they’d never heard of it. Bunheads walked so Maisel could fly.

James Lawson

Yup! It hits so many different points with fun/silly/dramatic/dark/light/big story/plot that carries over and being just such a fantastical weird world compared to so much more. Plus id LOVE to re-watch it with them! :D We will just keep mentioning it! Maybe one day! :D

Alex Laime

Queens Gambit and Shogun are so good. Severance is pretty good too.

Just Paul!

Holy crap.. A poll where I've never watched z single one of the choices! That's rare...

Boop

Severance is only one season! Do it !

Śéáń

I think I didn't give Bly a fair shake just because the setting is so close to HH that it drew more direct comparisons to it. I think if I watched one of the other shows in between to break it up a bit I'd rank it higher in my list, but I do love all 4 shows a lot all the same.

dudewheresmycar

Shogun at the time of writing is in second place by only 3 votes. GET IT TO FIRST PLACE... That is all.

Dan Holmes

I have seen none of these so I will suggest Freaks and Geeks for a future short list :)

Kozmo

I am one of those wonderful and intelligent people, Do you mind kindly explaining why my choice is wrong sir? and which show should receive another one of my votes respectfully

JoeE

Really enjoyed derby girls definitely need subtitles

JoeE

Would also recommend midnight mass, the good place

PureGonzo

Haunting of Hill House is a masterpiece IMO. Almost all the shows that Mike Flanagan has created are fantastic, but Hill House is probably the best one. Waiting 5 weeks for the subsequent BCS season will be painful, but Hill House would greatly ease that pain haha.

Jeff K.

Next poll: you guys REALLY need to include (and eventually watch) The Bear. Given George's history of working in restaurants, I'm EXTREMELY curious to hear his take on it, given it's apparently one of the most realistic portrayals of what it's like to work in a kitchen in TV/movie history.

Jeff K.

I'm genuinely shocked that, in particular, you've never heard of Succession or Shogun, two of the buzziest shows in recent years.

Sam

Wait did simone watch queens gambit between this and last poll?

Jeff I.

Assuming Shogun and Hill House stay so close to tied, will y'all maybe do both of them one after the other without a poll between?

Inkpendude

The funny this is THE BEAR is actually a short show, episodes are like 5 minutes long. would have fit very well in this poll

Paul Hawthorne

I’m floored that Succession is polling as low as it is.

Jeff K.

Given they both only have one season, that would make sense. I'd prefer to revisit Shogun, between the two (I haven't watched Hill House), but Hill house is probably more fitting to go first since, y'know, Halloween.

Foggy

HOTD

Mikebdrx

I'll make a small blood sacrifice to keep the hope for Ash Vs Evil alive.

darkmoobs

Most episodes of The Bear are 30-40 mins. You sure you watched the right show? Lol

Ariel Sims

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE to Derry Girls- it's so funny and there is an actress in the final season that I had to do a double take on because I thought she was Simone!

darkmoobs

Let’s not forget The Fall of the House of Usher, but I 100% agree. Although, you could probably skip Midnight Club as that is probably the weakest of the bunch and was canceled with plenty of unanswered questions.

Charlotte Drolet

I haven't seen any of these shows. I think I will just break and come back after five weeks. I usually can't watch any of the movies anyway because I would have to pay for so many different subscriptions to watch them all. I only have Netflix and Paramount plus with Disney.

Harry M

The Haunting of Hill House, Queens Gambit are on Netflix, Shogun is on Disney+

Charlotte Drolet

Okay didn't know that. Which is the better show in your opinion?

Matthew Blackwood

So happy Hill House is finally up! You guys will LOVE IT!

DanielK

hope hill house wins

Kelly Pickard

Oh HELL YEAH on the Haunting of Hill House!

GBmain

FARGO TV series please, 10 episode seasons, each season standalone so people can jump in anytime, some of the best TV you will see. I've been begging for 2 years and 3 name changes, 🙏📿🤲 George likes Martin Freeman I think, honestly his best performance ever in the first season.

Jay S

Would love to see Black Sails on the poll one day.

Alex Ch

Oh, and apparently Derry Girls too!

Jessi

Same question. Why wouldn't I vote for the best installment from my favorite director?

Jessi

Yeah...midnight club is mid. But it did intro some actors into the Flanaverse lol I was happy to see some new familiar faces in House of Usher!

Jessi

Reel-time did it, Diegesis, funnylilgalreacts, Omn1media, and that's just off the top of my head!

Jessi

Bly was always enjoyable to me for the way it soothingly freaks you out. But (of his big 4) I'd say, HH and Midnight Mass are basically tied (with HH edging ahead for the fact it was first), then Bly, then Usher (which I absolutely enjoyed, it just had more gore than I tend to like, and it, unlike the others, felt kinda like you were barreling towards an inevitable conclusion rather than unwrapping a gift to find the ending, like the other three, imo!)

Wrencher86

Shogun is a Top 5 TV show of all time for me.

Brandon Meng

First two seasons are 10/10 TV

Jeff K.

And Jesse Plemons is INCREDIBLE in season two of Fargo.

Jeff K.

@Charlotte Drolet - not saying it's the "best" of the bunch, but Shogun is probably the biggest show of the last year. It absolutely cleaned up at the Emmys this year, and is excellent.

Jeff K.

@darkmoobs I'm assuming that the other poster is making a tongue-in-cheek joke about how quickly the episodes fly by, because of how frantically paced they are.

Tim T—

+1 for The Right Stuff. I only have read the novel/memoir on which October Sky is based, but that novel is pretty great.

Tim T—

You have great taste, but The Leftovers is only to be watched while having chocolate on hand.

Brandon Meng

Short TV series recommendations: The White Lotus The Bear Fargo Invincible Silicon Valley The Good Fight Long TV series recommendations: Curb Your Enthusiasm Schitt's Creek House Cheers!

iFixSAN

Assuming it hasn't been watched by both, how about adding Orphan Black to the next round of short(ish) shows. Thanks!

Cubonemaker

Hill House is the best horror show ever made, just saying.

UNC

I know it’s clearly the best show here and it would go perfect in between BCS! So sad it’s not getting the love it deserves. Would make for such great reactions.

Dimitri

Should have had ash vs evil dead, it's the season for it

Tom M

Wow. Succession is 5th/7. You guys need to get Max.

darkmoobs

If that’s the case, then it whooshed right over my head. Haha

Farbod

Shogun is one of the best shows of all time. Would be a shame not to do it.

maikeru

Can‘t wait one day when they start watching Sopranos, Dexter, Fargo

Captain

Hill House! It's a single season and it's October. Perfect time to do it

Noel Valdez

I love Haunting and I would love for you guys to watch it since the showrunner is the same dude that did Doctor Sleep. I love everything that man has made.

Noel Valdez

I look up clips from Silicon Valley all the time. That show makes me laugh so fucking hard I love it. Lol

Julian G

The Boys season 3 and GEN V!... please....

Rob Church

I've seen both and while Shogun is fantastic, Hill House is easily one of the best shows of all time.

Rob Church

Honestly I would skip Bly Manor. It doesn't hold up with the other two.

Pat. N

I wasn't expecting multi-season shows to show up here. Like I wouldn't call Succession a short series by any stretch.

Pace Picante

Gotta be Shogun! Such an amazing show.

Eric Haines

Yyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssss<3<3<3

Liesmith

Severance is an absolutely amazing show, I think it'd be perfect for this channel.

Jpsynergy

Halloween time so I voted for Haunting but a lot of good shows there. Hope Simone can survive it.

China Andronicus

I wasn’t even alive when the OG came out and I know it’s better. The remake was okay but came nowhere near the classic with Toshiro Mifune and Richard Chamberlain.

apoc

Shogun is a must, but because it's spooky season The Haunting of Hill House has my vote.

Robert Hyler

I would love to see you watch LOST at some point if you haven't seen it.

Aaron Crawford

Damn what happened to Andor from the last poll

Crow

Fingers crossed for Haunting, or any of Mike Flannigan's work.

TheGrimOne

Vox Machina would be great but it doesn't stand a chance. I haven't watched Shogun yet.

algi

I loved the new Shogun so much, I went and watched the 1980 version, too.

Matthew ford

The Swedish Girl with a Dragon Tattoo was six part tv movie/series. Please watch that!

Jpsynergy

Oh right I forgot about Andor too! Hope they get to it eventually. My favorite Star Wars thing in a long long time.

Dwight Scarn

Omg Simone reacting to Haunting of Hill house 🤣 gonna be a roller coaster of emotions. Mike Flanagan is such a great story teller!

micah

no ANDOR? :(

Travis H

I am kind of glad Succession isn’t winning the poll. Succession is a fantastic show and watching it with George/Simone would be fun. I just worry about the comments section when that show does eventually happen. It’s a show that is asking to have discussions about politics, and I don’t know if the comment section can handle that. Anyways I voted Severance. I would like to see Good Place, Andor, and The Bear on the next short show poll. And as always I would love if Lost was ever covered here, even though I know George would have issues with elements of the show I still think he would like the characters enough to continue with it.

Martin

Disappointed Succession is showing so poorly. It’s the best series HBO has made since The Sopranos.

Khan1001

Have to go with 18x Emmy winning Shogun, Its one of the greatest shows ever made, period. Anyone who hasn't seen it, no disrespect to Haunting but Shogun is a must watch.

Nicholas Bielik

Hoping Shogun pulls ahead. One of my favorite recent TV shows. Brilliantly done.

Steve kephart

Of all the political parties, I gave my allegiance to the Birthday Party because their incumbent, Glados, is promising free cake if she wins.

Steve kephart

I would have expected Queens Gambit to win as it is such an incredible show. It is one of those rare shows, like Squid Game or Dexter, that you can't stop watching. However, the comments are making me think I need to check out Shogun. I'd never heard of it before. Is it as good as those shows?

Nick Parker

It has to be that people just havent seen it.

Wrencher86

I haven't seen Queens Gambit but I would put Shogun up there with Squid Game, probably ahead of it honestly. Personally, I felt Dexter really dropped off after the first couple seasons, but I would put Shogun well ahead of even the good seasons of that show.

Wrencher86

Hopefully it's not on the poll because they've already seen it. Amazing show.

Jared Petty

I'm writing in Midnight Mass just to put it on y'all's radar.

Rosie Park

For future consideration... The End of the Fu**ing World

Stee Gray

Under the Banner of Heaven is really good.

Cory Garron

Suggestions for Future Polls The Leftovers (it ties The Wire as my favourite all time show, and season two of The Leftovers is the single greatest television season). The Deuce - Made by The Wire creators David Simon and George Pelecanos, about the rise and fall of the Porn industry in 1970s/80s NYC). We Own This City - Limited Series (6 episodes?) Made by The Wire creators David Simon and George Pelecanos, and takes place in Baltimore. Deadwood - 3 seasons (and a movie) about a gold rush near a lawless town outside of US territory. David Simon has a few other short projects as well: Treme - The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina Show Me a Hero (which I haven't seen)

Cory Garron

I preferred it to the US remake.

Cory Garron

I'd rather watch a documentary about the sex cult.

Cory Garron

I've never finished Season 1 of that show, I have a friend in Montreal who has highly recommended it, and I fully intend to get to it eventually.

Tcrimson05T

That is a tough choice between Shogun and haunting of Hill House. But given that it's October..... Let's get some real horror in.

Shawn B

I hear Shogun is really good

Dustin Duvall

Tbh I very rarely vote for something that one of them has already seen, only reason it didn't get my vote

Lachlan Caldwell

I would like to recommend 'The Magicians' Ran on the SciFi (or Syfy) network from 2015-2020; 5 seasons, 13 episodes a season. Imagine if Harry Potter went to college and did a boatload of [illicit substances]. Excellent writing, great characters. Very funny, artfully navigates around familiar TV tropes even as it drives head-first straight into them.

Matthew Langley

+1 for The Magicians. A fantastic show both interesting plot and very funny. Basically Harry Potter + Narnia + Dark Dark Humor/Content.

casey

ah man. even if it probably won't win this poll, i hope ya'll eventually do derry girls. it's a fun one!

clh35

Fargo would be perfect for this short series slot, but the other 2 definitely don't qualify. That means they won't even be in a poll until Better Call Saul is done, assuming the other TV slot will be Star Trek for the next 10 years.

Dazzler & Em

Really looking forward to you reaction to haunted, going to be a rollercoaster ride.🤣🤣 Going to recommend slow horses as a tv show, very good mix of drama and comedy.

Jay S

I echo your friend's sentiment then. It's storytelling at it's finest.

WalrusWallace

Ooh great choices in this poll. Derry girls is hilarious, couldn't stop watching Queen's gambit til the end, and Haunting of hill house is a fun time

Zhivko Yakimov

Oh, the memories :) I even wrote a script for a Brisco County Jr. episode as a school assignment, which was to write something (no limitation on form or genre) incorporating a list of words our teacher gave us :) I don’t think she got the references, unfortunately. I also don’t remember what grade I got, but I don’t believe it was a low one.

Sergio Meira

Oh no, Severance is losing! Both my innie and my outie are sad...

Michael Kemmet

I really wish people understood how big a fan Simone is of the Vox Machina source material. I think it would make for great reactions. Angela at funnylilgalreacts and Meesh and Dee are doing it right now, among many other reaction channels, and they're all having a great time with it. (the 3rd season is currently halfway through)

Jacob King

That Severance isn’t winning is a sign not enough people have seen Severance.

Jasper Collins

Vox Machina would be amazing! The third season is breaking my expectations yet again. It just keeps getting better

Dragonhunter

I think it makes more sense to just wait for season 2 in january 2025 so they can watch both.

Dragonhunter

Also recommended this a few times. Such a great show. Binged through all episodes of season one in a day and did the same once season 2 was out

Rhiannon

Aw mannn... I wish Derry Girls was doing better. Ah well, maybe next time (or the time after that)

DonkyDave

Shame you aren't just continuing with Better Call Saul!

Nathan Jasper

Come on, Shogun's only losing by 20 votes!

maikeru

It is, I watched four ep so far

Josh B.

Still hoping for The Legend of Korra one day

Logan Kerlee

I'm surprised that so few of us would want to introduce George to Critical Role's next season! It's a great show, c'mon guys..

Logan Kerlee

Shogun and Vox Machina have my vote.

Logan Kerlee

The Good Place isn't a short time commitment as it runs for a good amount of full seasons with half hour episodes. It's a great show! But it wouldn't belong on a poll like this.

Logan Kerlee

Love that show! It was such a great amount of fun. :)

Graeme McCutcheon

For future consideration: Orphan Black, and a show that is truly criminally underseen (and those of you reading the comments who are not George/Simone should watch it too - don't watch the trailer though it spoils an episode 1 joke) Patriot on Amazon Prime.

Logan Kerlee

lol, fair's fair. It's now a day past when ya'll posted and Severance is currently about 200 votes behind.

Logan Kerlee

I'm 100% with you on George watching Critical Roll! Pretty sure that he's watched the first season - so not so much an introduction - instead more of a continuation. Now - Burn Notice! I'd be STOKED if they wound up watching that at some point. :) Very fun show that's highly entertaining. :)

Logan Kerlee

Dude, yeah. After a brief glance at a google search, there were three actual horse deaths that occurred during filming. That's some tragic shit that I won't watch.

Logan Kerlee

lmao, I love how much you're kidding in this comment! xD You're awesome, dude. haahahaha

Khan1001

it broke the Emmy's record this year, winning 18!, it should be winning this poll easily, E.D. wait till you get to ep 9, OMG!

Jeff K.

I eventually got a bit bored with the show and don't think I ever finished the last season or two, but overall, it's a FANTASTIC show. Tatiana Maslany is incredible, and I think George and Simone would be excited to see a certain Albuequerque drug dealer show up.

Jeff K.

It's a phenomenal show with some truly incredible performances, and it's filmed beautifully. Highly recommend. It's mostly subtitled so that obviously throws some people off since not everyone likes to have to read, but it's totally worth it.

Jeff K.

Since we're talking about other David Simon projects: Generation Kill. Fantastic, and very short, series. I think there were only like seven episodes, I believe? Treme was very good and had one of the best theme songs in TV history, though it got a little dull as it went on, and had some very slowly paced episodes (I know David Simon was really showcasing the jazz music, but when you're showing pretty much full performances, it can start to drag). Also, I love the fact that Anthony Bourdain was brought on as a writer for that show since it also dealt with the New Orleans restaurant scene.

Jeff K.

Speaking of Superman and documentaries: highly recommend the documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story whenever it becomes more widely available. I saw it in the theater a few weeks ago during it's very limited run, and it was great.

Jeff K.

Highly recommend both The Right Stuff and October Sky. Excellent movies. The Right Stuff is very, very long, but it's worth it. Even the New Kids on the Block would recommend it. Also: October Sky is the kind of movie that I firmly believe would have Simone crying plenty of happy tears, and has a fantastic performance from Chris Cooper (among others, but his is the standout for me).

Cory Garron

Generation Kill - I knew i was forgetting one. I haven't seen that one, or past Season 1 of Tremendous. Thanks!

Eliana

Whoever didn’t pick succession consider yourself an opp

algi

I can't remember the last time a show had so many layers of depth. Maybe Andor.

maikeru

I didn‘t watch it so I didn‘t vote for it :) only watched two series from this poll so far

Amar

If that is the case then neither is succession or other shows on this list.

Happy Hanukkah

I'll note that Sense8 was co-created by J. Michael Straczynski (JMS), best known for the great Babylon 5 (which alas does not meet the definition of a "small show").

Happy Hanukkah

"If the show you personally want isn't winning, it does not give you the right to insult or demean everyone else for voting differently." But if the show I want *is* winning, surely that gives me the right to mock and deride those pathetic losers wedded to failure!

Justin Leone

Aw, was really hoping The Good Place would show up on this poll.

JoeNotCharles

Small shows? It's the season to watch Over the Garden Wall!

Brian Belko

Hope to see Station Eleven make its way onto a poll like this in the future. Only one short season, but the absolute definition of prestige TV.

UNC

Again begging for Succession. Show is so damn good.

jose giron

Most plp know that show is great but for a show that is going to be in between seasons pf another show I would rather it be a show like the Bly mannor/hill house/mass each season is it's own story and the quality of hill house imo is better than severance season 1, hill house is a masterpiece of horror. Also IDK about others but I would rather have a show like severance with only one season closer to 2025 when season 2 comes out

jose giron

It's also a show that imo doesn't do well with their format of reactions, you can't take breaks between seasons of succesion imo

jose giron

The perfect place for it imo would be after better call Saul, I don't think succesion would be good as a side season show. Also I don't think it would mix well with better call Saul rn, imo their next two shows after better call Saul should be severance and succesion, and the netflix flanaverse between seasons of better call Saul

DinChild

I understand it's the season for Haunting of Hill House, but Severance season 2 is coming...would be good timing in November. Having said that, Succession is damn good, too

droodly

Never heard of this show. Does Pennywise show up?

Nathan Jasper

And what if a surge of votes unexpectedly knocks your temporarily winning pick off its high horse?

Jeff I.

Yeah, I've suggested it a few times before. A shame that it went so under the radar when it came out because of a lack of marketing from HBO. It has a 98% on Rotten Tomato and was nominated for a lot of awards. They would both love it, I think.

Happy Hanukkah

Then that gives me another group of people to target!

Kozmo

they still have time for severance after the 3rd season of BCS and before the second season airs. But given that Shogun is a close second I doubt they even get to it any time soon.

Nat B

The Haunting of Hill House!!! Yes!

DinChild

True. They're all high quality shows. I'm just excited for Severance to get the attention it deserves. Tho, I feel like season 2 will bring a lot of people to season 1. Good times ahead, regardless.

Michael Gryphon

You should try Stargate SG-1. It was even filmed in Canada.

Hockdude

Shame there isn't much love for Derry Girls, would be a perfect palette cleanser between other shows.

Jeff I.

No spoiler at all, but just want to make y'all aware that Hill House is the kind of show where little bits of info or certain character actions are presented to the viewer without obvious context/meaning, but that context is revealed later on in the same episode or even a couple of episodes later. Like 90% of the questions you might have while watching will eventually be answered. :-)

Khan1001

As Shogun finished a very close second, George & Simone can you please confirm it will be your next short show after Haunting, so after you finish BCS season 3, you will watch Shogun instead of doing another poll?

Jpsynergy

Yeah it's a slow burn, but a great one. All the questions will be answered trust us. Beautifully written show.

ShōNuff3K

I had a massive emotional outburst during the finale, at least I think it was finale. Midnight train to Georgia?

Cameron Cross

Andor pretty please. The second season will be coming out too so it would be a decent time to roll into it

Cameron Cross

It also almost won your last short series poll

Cameron Cross

It almost won the last short series poll

Cameron Cross

Loved Smallville :) It's not a short series though

Brian Belko

I agree. Hopefully it makes it on a poll one day although I doubt it would ever win. There are no reactions to it by any of the popular reactors.

Joe

WATCHMEN

CommanderBrownCoat

Finished the Patreon Cornetto Trilogy and have to suggest some early Simon Pegg and Nick Forst work called Spaced, one season and seven episodes so pretty quick watch!

droodly

Wasn't there 2 seasons of Spaced?

John

Yeah, hopefully The Good Place will be in the next tv poll

Bonnie Hughes

I really hope the Queen‘s gambit wins at some point, even though it got big, I still think it’s underrated

Mathew Hill

Ahh missed this poll. I would have voted for Queen's Gambit, though didn't know Simone had already seen it. Not sure if I've recommended either of these before, but two good short shows are: The Night Manager (2016) a spy thriller with Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, and Olivia Colman. And Taboo (2017) a dark and twisted 19th Century thriller about crime, corruption and mysticism, staring Tom Hardy.

Theadora

I know I completely missed the voting window, but I'd like to make sure that the 2-season TV show "Life" (2007 to 2009) starring Damian Lewis, Sarah Shahi and Adam Arkin (and Donal Logue in Season 2) is on the list somewhere. I really think y'all will enjoy its mix of drama and quirky, character-driven humor. Thank you for your time. :-)
