Jihad Lee

Let’s fucking go!!! This, #2 and #3 are the true car movies.

Peppermint Maud’dib

Oh man I hope you guys get all the way though this franchise, it’ll always be the perfect buffer movie after something heavy

Jihad Lee

Also the acting in this one is so good. At least on Vin Diesel’s part.

dieselbeast

I hope you'll get to at least seven, just have fun with them, these films do have serious heartfelt moments, don't be swayed by some peoples opinions that its all one big joke cause that's not the case, 4-7 are the best ones imo, and I absolutely disagree with George as far as these films not being memorable, ask Simone this question after you'll get done with seven, these films are definitely worth remembering

JediLounger

I would watch at least to the seventh movie, as they get better (and more ridiculous lol) as you go along. Also, there are technically “Unrated Versions” of most of the movies, but they are inconsequential except for timing differences. So I would pay attention to what you find and remember to post it.

W T

It's no Redline, but I guess I'll watch it again

REDR58

Ah, Simone, you’ve just taken your first step into a larger world.

Opti_Frog

Wake me up when they get to Fast Five. 😴

REDR58

For a really good (and surprisingly very graphically violent at times) car movie check out “Drive” from 2011 with Ryan Goslin. I just watched it for the first time this past weekend and it’s really good. Not to be missed is “Rush” (2013) directed by Ron Howard with Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl. It’s based on a true story. I would also highly recommend “Bullit” (1968) directed by Peter Yates and starring Steve McQueen and Jacquelin Bisset. It is an excellent crime/thriller that also has some cool car scenes. It is a true classic.

Tomas

Oh for fucks sake... Don't tell me you're gonna trudge through this entire film series? I thought they were cool when I was 12, but as an adult they're just painful. Also, why do different reactors have such overlap in what they watch, even when it comes to old shit like this?

Adam Barry

Simone, you joke about Fast & Furious animated, but there is Fast & Furious: Spy Racers - an animated show about Dominic Toretto's cousin, Tony Toretto.

gurz

yeah god how dare they watch something cause one of them is curious about it! i mean for god sake they only release 1 video per week and its gonna be nothing but fast and furious??? they should really increase the schedule to at least 3 movies and 3 tv shows so that if 1 thing isnt to the liking of Tomas, at least theres 5 other things. but oh well, that would be too much of a fantasy... they should really only ever do what we dictate them to do, cause dance monkies, dance.

Tomas

I just asked if that's what they're gonna do, I never tried to dictate anything, so why don't you go cry somewhere else?

gurz

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight cause your initial comment doesnt reek of condescending tone and is in no way try to make them feel bad for watching one movie. its was actually just so purely innocent, not on a high horse at all.

dieselbeast

I agree with you for two and three but four does go back to the FAMILY lol but Five is the best one imo

Tomas

Maybe you should stop making condescending assumptions. It's an expression of exasperation due to 1. it is a trash film series, and 2. the only other reactor I watch is currently trudging through this exact trash and have been for weeks now, so seeing it pop up again does not make my day. I want to know if they're also gonna watch all of them or if they're just doing this first one. If they are, I'll have to find something else to look forward to on Thursdays.

gurz

so then just ask the fucking question without talking shit and trying to make them feel bad for watching 1 movie. no one knows who else youre watching or what youre day looks like, and no one cares. just cause you happen to follow 1 other reactor whos doing the same franchise, doesnt mean anyone else is suppose to just know that and work around it. you dont got to like the movies, you can ask whatever question you want. but theres no need to in the same breath and sentence insult those that DO like the movies, while trying to make S&G feel bad for watching it. THAT, is uncalled for.

Cinebinge

alright folks lets all step back here and take a breather. no need for last words or anything, lets just walk away before this goes any further and we gotta bring out ban hammers for personal attacks and insults. we do want to continue this franchise for as long as its fun for us and viewers, and by the sound of it Fast Five is the minimum. however its unlikely going to be weekly, more of a once in a while when theres room.

8bitAndy

Yeah, it's rough when they binge long film series like these. The Alien stretch was a bit of a slog for me after they went past Aliens, and that's a franchise that starts out as legendary. The FF franchise doesn't have that same lofty start, so a binge of this franchise would be pretty tough to stomach. There's no getting around the fact that people seem to love these movies though, so I'm pretty sure more of these reactions will be coming. I just hope they aren't nearly as frequent as the Alien movies were.

Tomas

Get over yourselves. I just expressed my honest feelings and experience regarding the franchise. There was no insult, I was being literal. Stop trying to ascribe malicious intent and get butthurt just because my taste changed from childhood. Cinebinge: Ok, that's cool, for my part, I'd be grateful if it wasn't every week. It's a long franchise.

Maiki

I'm not even into cars, like at all, but the first ones, this one in particular, are just so much fun to watch. As was your reaction, loved it.

RichieRich

I love these movies. That being said I really enjoy "bad" movies. Hope you do more.

BigGuy209

to be honest, this is the only one I really like but that’s because for nostalgic purposes.

djKENTO

the only real slog is 2 Fast 2 Furious and even that has a lot of charm and excessiveness that works. Natalie Gold thought she wouldn’t make it through these and she cried in in 5 6 and 7.

Rupert Purcat

I have watched them all, and the same - I had fun watching them. But the first one is definitely the high-water mark - the bigger budget did not help the storylines. I would like you to get them, but there are better sequels to catch up on first and of course "Rush".

Tenn Seven

So the main reason this movie is good is because it is, beat-for-beat, a remake of "Point Break," but with cars instead of surfboards.

Odd Thomas

If you can wade through the first four, Fast Five is where it gets good

Vwlss Nvwls

Because the buster brought me the reaction!! Ask any viewer, it doesn't matter if you watch with Simone or George, reacting is reacting.

djKENTO

There is only ONE spin-off movie. Tokyo Drift feels like a spin-off at first but those boys are family too. Paul Walker dies during the production of Fast 7 and his brothers step in and they use CGI and composites of previous films for a few shots. You can tell which is which.

Brandon

Ahhh the good ol' days. When Fast and Furious movies were still less than two hours long and the highest stakes only involved stolen DVD players. I was in my "late high school movie snob" phase when this first came out, but once I gave in and watched it I ended up really liking it. Even if it's mostly Point Break with cars. 😉

Odd Thomas

A better Michelle Rodriguez franchise: Resident Evil. Weird coincidence: the 5th entry of that is the best one too!

sarCC

Glad you've started this franchise. Excited to watchalong once you get to the 3rd movie, which is when the series gets good, with screenwriter Chris Morgan and director Justin Lin teaming up for the best 4 Fast/Furious movies. Until then....good luck!

Tom Hess

Fast and Furious is the epitome of "turn off your brain and have fun". I hope you'll watch them all. Cause I sure ain't going to watch them on my own.

Vwlss Nvwls

When I first heard about this movie it just sounded kind of dumb, but then I watched it figuring on just a fun popcorn movie. I became a fan of the franchise. It is just a popcorn movie, but it is so much high adrenaline fun, and that is what makes watching movies fun. Having characters you like and care about is just a bonus. I do not understand the people who think it is stupid to watch these movies, because they do exactly what movies are supposed to do. Not every movie has to be an award winner, and there are certainly much worse movies out there.

Vwlss Nvwls

I enjoy all the movies in the franchise, but Tokyo Drift is the weakest in my opinion, but only because it does not have any of the characters from the rest of the franchise. Otherwise, it really is not so bad, because it has the same high octane fun. But they do definitely get over the top of over the top ridiculous in stories and action. But I am always here for it, because it is just fun to laugh at how ridiculous they are. And Hobbs & Shaw is a lot of fun.

JohnB

For the question about painting the neighborhood houses. We had a movie shoot a few scenes where I work. They came in ahead of time and painted it to what they wanted. They made a lot of changes. They even redid the flower beds outside the office. After shooting they came back and put everything back the way it was including replacing some sidewalks that their equipment had damaged. Not only did we not have to pay for any of it we didn't have to get it done. The production company handled everything.

Justtired

I’m not a fan of this series. I stopped watching after Tokyo Drift, but I thought I’d give it another shot. The two of you definitely made it more enjoyable. It’s definitely silly and ridiculous.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Okay so here's the chronology: The Fast and the Furious 2Fast 2Furious Fast & Furious Fast Five Fast & Furious 6 The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift Furious 7 The Fate of the Furious Hobbs & Shaw F9: The Fast Saga Fast X and the upcoming Fast X part 2 is the finale of the main series The best ones in my opinion are 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10. 7 and 10 being my ultimate favorites

Tyler Foster

I'm not 100% convinced people can tell -- I would estimate more than a third of Walker's screen time, close to half of it, in the movie is completed with some kind of manipulation to bring him back to life, which I think is much higher than people think at first glance. Some of it involves recycling footage from other movies, from deleted scenes, etc., or simply having his character backgrounded and silent. He only shot four or five scenes before he was killed -- one significant portion of the movie he's barely in, for example, is the entire section in Abu Dhabi -- he may only fully appear in two scenes, and one of them is an isolated scene in the middle of a larger sequence -- the rest of the sequence is all trickery.

Tyler Foster

While the F&F movies may be running out of steam these days, I think they're great fun through the eighth movie, The Fate of the Furious (which is, IMO, grossly underrated among fans of the series), and then then X was still decent. I'm hoping they stick the landing with the second part of Fast X and go out on a high note. Lean in, enjoy the silliness, and pay close attention -- they're happy to call back characters and details from 5 movies ago. The only one of these movies I hated -- *hated* -- was the terrible true spin-off film Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. These movies are Vin Diesel's baby and they have a certain meathead earnestness to them. Diesel's brand of sincerity doesn't mesh with Dwayne Johnson's, and for me H&S is a terrible miscalculation of what the series should be doing, tonally.

Tyler Foster

Also, just watch them in order and let the series' convoluted timeline explain itself to you through the movies.

Paul G

Hobbs & Shaw would be a decent movie it it wasn't connected to the Fast & Furious franchise. It's got all the right ingredients for a decent summer "I don't want to think very hard about the plot" type of action movie but, as you pointed out, because it's connected to the F&F franchise it ruins itself and hurts the parent in the process.

Paul G

You'll get out of this franchise exactly what you put into it. If you go into it with an open mind and know that it's going to be over the top and cheeseball then it can be really fun and entertaining. If you go in expecting Schindler's List level writing and acting you're just going to be miserable. I would echo some other folks who have said if you liked the first one you'll probably enjoy all of them. They start to get a little ridiculous around 7 but they are still really fun. 9 & 10 is where your loyalty to the franchise might get tested! :)

John

I think some of Vin Diesel's best work is in Pitch Black if you want to give that a try. I also would recommend a return to the Rocky/Creed Franchises

DougJitsu

Point Break with cars instead of surfboards

SilverRex03

In my opinion Tokyo Drift is the best fast and furious movie. Doesn't have any of the original actors. But it does have some of the best cars and car racing scenes in the franchise

Chase Schleich

You guys should do this whole series (not with an 18 month gap between films). Most react channels don't do this series, at least not the ones I subscribe to. The films get pretty damn good as the series goes along.

Ken

I vote you guys keep going, all the way to 8 are pretty decent and worth a watch. You will have to suspend ALL disbelief after that.

Martin Roca

Tokyo Drift is the best one

Chase Schleich

Hobbs (The Rock) and Shaw (Jason Statham) takes place deep into the franchise. You have to get through at least Fast 6 before getting to Hobbs and Shaw. Dunno if Hobbs and Reyes is even happening at this point. There's been zero news on it since Rock announced it. The final mainline Fast film (Fast X part 2) comes out in mid 2026 after multiple filming delays.

simon brouillard

Those movies are dumb fun and they get dumber as they go. Honestly watch them all in release order, its part of the dumb fun

REDR58

For me, the highlight of these movies are Jordana Brewster, and underglow. So much underglow!

REDR58

I agree. Don’t worry about the timeline. It doesn’t matter.

REDR58

Simone, it is entirely possible for a car to go under a tractor trailer…trailer and you may notice at the rear end of trailers what is called the “underride bar” or more commonly known as the “Mansfield Bar” which helps prevent a car that rear-ends the trailer in an accident from passing too far under the end of the trailer which could be fatal for the car occupants. It is called the “Mansfield Bar” because in 1967, then-very famous 34-year old model and actor Jayne Mansfield and several other people were killed when their car rear-ended a trailer (some real-life Final Destination horror!): https://www.planetizen.com/blogs/124334-mansfield-bar-how-celebrity-death-changed-auto-safety?amp

Farbod

Point Break with cars. Also the best Fast and the Furious film is Tokyo Drift. So make sure to watch that one. The ridiculous ones are really bad unless you are high. I am also here for Nasal Simone.

Morion Williams

I challenge cinebinge to watch all the movies and point out the point at which they become super heroes.

Niño

Why does Simone get sick so often?

Tyler Foster

Now that I've actually watched the video and have heard the specific question: the best of the series is slightly past the middle. Fast Five, Furious 6, Furious Seven, and The Fate of the Furious are the peak entries in the series for me. However, and this is very important, part of the joy of the later entries is akin to the Mission: Impossible movies, where the scattered stories from the earlier part of the series where they didn't have as much of a grand plan are called back and drawn into a more coherent story. So it ends up being worth watching the more generic ones to get to the good ones because that groundwork pays off. Also, to be quite honest, I think this original movie is probably the dullest and therefore worst entry of the series. I think there's some fun stuff in it thanks to the cast, but the script is very generic. The closest other entry to a dud in the main series is probably Fast & Furious, but I think if you've watched through the previous 3, you'll get a first-time boost just from seeing where they've gone, and then it's off to the races with the really fun stuff right after.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Alright fine, I'll watch it again just because I enjoy your reactions, but I hate this movie on a personal level, it destroyed the actual, authentic, street racing scene in Southern California, I watched it happen. Before this movie my hometown was a street racing Mecca, and it was awesome, I'm not the biggest car guy but I can appreciate some dude's suped up garage built VW Beetle with wheelie bars (they keep the car from flipping over backwards because it has so much torque) absolutely destroying a brand new Mustang Cobra in the quarter mile on a backstreet in the warehouse district at midnight on a Saturday night. People from all over Southern California would show up to race their custom cars, all kinds, muscle cars, imports, whatever. Then this fuckin movie came out. And it was basically like what happened to Coachella, EVERYONE started showing up, it got ridiculous, it got stupid, people who weren't even into racing were going just for the scene, to be seen. Before that we were always good at staying ahead of the cops, but with that much traffic it got impossible and the cops were forced to crack down because people were doing stupid shit like walking on the street in the middle of races to look cool, people who couldn't drive were racing and crashing, and that was the end of the og street racing scene that had been going on since at least the 1960s and the days of the Ontario Speedway.

Gary Fixler

NOS is nitrous oxide. It's used to give engines a boost. Oxygen would work, too, but oxygen doesn't compress to a liquid, where NOS does, so you can carry a lot more in a tank. NOS is also called laughing gas, or, more rarely, happy gas, because if inhaled, it leads to a state of euphoria. I think dentists used to use it, but it turns out not to be good for you, so they no longer use it. The energy drink came along 4 years after this movie, and is not affiliated. They did license the name and logo from a company that does make automotive nitrous injection systems. Now I'll watch the rest of the movie and find out that all of this is explained later, or maybe in the trivia 😆

Gary Fixler

I laughed at George saying "Okay, drinking water, I guess" at them drinking Corona at the party. I've been in LA for 22 years now, and every gathering I've been to it's been Coronas everywhere. I don't drink, and I know nothing about alcohol, but I do know that beer is everywhere here, especially at house parties, especially back then. It must be a socal thing.

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

I enjoy “Point Break” better overall but the tighter pacing of the 1st F&F movie helps it feel more brisk and I’m more attached to the early 2000s vibes than the early 90s stuff of “Point Break”.

samuel Jakob

Ye but pretty much everywhere in the world except in the US drinks like Corona are concidered water not beer.

SilverRex03

You should definitely watch the entire series

Logan Kerlee

Okay, yeah! I really enjoyed watching this reaction! I have a whole long thing that I typed up as I watched the reaction but I'm abandoning that and I'm just saying that I had a great time watching this with you both. lol, watched and loved this movie (series) as a teen. It's great watching this with people who're clueless about cars! xD "Whoa! Is that even possible?!" hahaha, I'm looking forward to the future films in the series when things really get ramped up. :) I do feel a bit sad watching this, though. Paul Walker's death affected me and seeing these movies again reminded me of all the things that I enjoyed seeing him in and of course what I felt after he passed. Whatever though - amazing series of movies and I'm down to watch them! :) You guys are amazing. Keep it up! :)

Rav Low

Broadly the movie gets a lot of the car talk "correctly" but like they talk about it in ways that no one talks about. The totally nonsense bullshit kinda starts up starting with the second movie or so.

BangDroid

The comparison to hacking scenes in movies is good George. I have a foot in both cybersecurity and car enthusiasm. Yes it is a little cringe when they say things like "Motec systems exhaust" (because Motec doesn't make exhaust systems) and a bunch of other jargon. But this movie has a special place in the scene because it was one of the first to paint JDM (Japanese Domestic Market - commonly used to refer to the modified Japanese car scene) on the silver screen. Similarly to how there's pockets of old-school hackers who love the movie Hackers with all it's inaccurate cringe, it still holds an endearing place in our minds. I can tell you this movie, probably more than any other in the franchise is quoted ALL the time. I hear the line "Overnight parts from Japan" all the time on car and racing YouTube channels. Personally, I only like the first 3 in the franchise, they just "drifted" too far away from what I liked after Tokyo Drift, which is probably my favorite, followed by this then 2F2F. NOS energy drink definitely came out later because NOS for engine performance had been around since the 70's. Movies like this definitely helped popularize it. If you're curious how it works, a basic explanation is internal combustion engines need both fuel and oxygen to function, and it needs to be at a certain ratio for optimum ignition. Nitrous Oxide stored as compressed liquid has a higher amount of oxygen for the same volume than atmospheric air, when it's injected into an engine, there is now more oxygen for the the same volume so you can add more fuel, which increases power. It's a bit like temporarily having a bigger engine. There are other more technical aspects to it but that's the basics. They whole warp-speed effect they use in movies and even the exhaust flames is just for the drama. Though, if you've even been down the quarter mile in a sub 10 second car, the vibration and speed does make your vision a little blurry/shaky!

Noel Valdez

When I was a kid and saw this for the first time on my older cousins DVD player my mind was blown! So I still love this movie because of that. It’s funny how these movies got more “big” and crazy I sort of fell out of love with them. With how dumb these first few movies are there is a certain charm to early 2000s cheese IMO. Nowadays whenever they make something “cheesy” on purpose like the new movies it just doesn’t land for me. This movie was earnest and ended up being cheese gold. Lol Think they should’ve ended it at 7 since it was Paul’s last movie. James Wan ended it on a high note but they continue to pump out the boring CGI action nonsense.

Noel Valdez

It’s good water. Lol 😂 I accept that when it comes to bud light but corona is a good light beer. But I just love beer so I have a wide net of what I love. From cheap to fancy shit. Also I’m Mexican and from USA, Georgia (so I have a bit of a redneck in there) both people who like a cheap light beer. Lol

Noel Valdez

There’s a stereotype among some of my friends that white women are just sick 24/7, cause every white woman I know is like that. Sick all the time. Lol 😂 (it’s a joke and not meant to be bad or racist, just a trend I noticed with all my white friends. White girls are sick all the time!)

Peter H

These movies are big dumb fun action movies and I love them all. They get exponentially more and more ridiculous as the series goes on. It's amazing.

Noel Valdez

I’m opposite of you! I love the first couple of movies cause of how cheesy fun they are. (Like how George and Simone loved M:2) But also to keep in my mind, I grew up with these movies. I was 4 when the first one came out and I kept seeing them so they were really special to me. As I got older I still loved them cause I love the early 2000s cheese and fun. Even if they are “bad” there’s a certain charm early 2000s movies have on me cause they feel different from all the stuff from today. Can’t describe it, just a feeling I get. (Plus nostalgia) Also, as I got older and became a bigger movie fan I just fell out of love for a lot of action movies and will very rarely see a new action movie nowadays since I just find them boring for the most part. So the first couple are fun and “bad” but awesome IMO. 😂 I love the first 3 and the 4th - 7th I like cause I like Paul Walker and I didn’t want to see these movies without him. So I haven’t watched one past the 7th. (Expect when I slept during the last one cause my cousin made me see it. Lol)

REDR58

The movie that appears briefly in the background on the TV right after Mia asks Brian to take her to the Cuban restaurant is “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” (1993) which is worth a watch.

REDR58

Oh, and don’t worry, George Michelle Rodriguez shows up a lot more in the later movies.

Rav Low

Also you gotta remember back then a high end DVD player could straight up be $1000. You got it for free and you sell them for $500/per? That's a HUGE payday.

Jesse Coombs

I forgot how similar this first movie is to Point Break.

Jesse Coombs

Agreed. Just watch them all. It's fun to experience them all together. Just like life.

Amelie W

Look, Vince has probably been trying to sleep with Mia since fourth grade with no concept of how undateable he is. Like, Brian helps her with chores and Vince's only reaction is contempt and misogyny, and he thinks this is "attractive" to Mia; like now he's put the new guy in his place it makes sense Mia brings up the Italian restaurant, and it's shocking to him when it turns out the one guy among Dom's 50 or so friends who eats there every day who helps her doing the dishes is the one who gets to take her on a date. I figure she does it 40% cause she likes Brian and 60% to get Vince to shut up. Funny story, I touched a moving car once. At a crossing there was this sports car waiting for me and my cousin to cross and I guess they got impatient or lost control of their feet cause the car accelerated violently into me. I lifted myself out of the way with a hand on the hood and kept walking in the most casually badass move I've ever done. It was like twenty steps before my cousin noticed.

Redrum Ritual

You two should watch S.W.A.T. which has producers of The Fast and The Furious and a few actor in The Fast and The Furious in S.W.A.T. My favorite ones of the series is The Fast and The Furious, Tokyo Drift, Fast Five, and Furious 7. Furious 7 was Paul Walker's final one and they had to have his brothers fill in and CGI to finish the film. They took a break from filming when he died in the accident. 2 Fast 2 Furious and Fast X are the worse ones of the series. Jason Momoa was the only good thing about Fast X. The serious starts taking a nose drive after Furious 7. Furious 7 is the peak. Because Fast X was so cringe, Fast 11 or whatever it's going to be called will be the last movie of the series. And also Creep Diesel last Fast and the Furious movie.

pinkdino99

The best movies are universally regarded as five and six, and like you say... there is a lot of chaff in the way. Unfortunately each film introduces important characters, so maybe watch 2-4 off screen ? I am not a racer or gear head, but I understand this scene (and loved the Need For Speed games). This film is made by people that understand cars. All of the lingo and jargon is legit. That Toyota Supra (orange hero car) would cost about $240k these days (there is a shop in LA that creates to spec replicas).

Elvenwitch

While I am not the biggest fan of these movies I did like Hobbs and Shaw.

Harry Fieldson

2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift are by far my favourites. They embraced the goofy silliness but without it being "hey the car is now on the moon and doing quantum physics in the GPS whilst serving Vin Diesel a pizza mid car chase"

Grimbane42

I personally recommend going through all of them. They are good fun and I don't think any of them are like oh my god terrible. Each brings their own brand of fun.

W T

Fuck me, I want every car to serve VD pizza mid-car chase that sounds like such a baller gadget
