OKAY ! Now you must be ready to watch- "Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo"

Odd Thomas

Blended is another good Sandler/Barrymore romcom. Punch Drunk Love is my favourite Sandler movie though.

JediLounger

I won't go into much detail as it's very painful, but I have direct family experience with something similar to 10 Second Tom. All you can do is the best you can every day, and lean on your support system. Been a long time since I have seen this movie, and it is a very hard watch now.

Kevin B

The Wedding Singer next please 😁

HUGO TORRES

I knew i was gonna crack up at your reaction to samwise lol did not disappoint

FWPJR.

Finally, I’ve been waiting all week for this reaction. Now please do the Wedding Singer as your next Sandler movie, and after that do Uncut Gems. I would love to see you two react to Uncut Gems, because it shows that Sandler is actually a good actor ( imo ) and can do a serious role.

Odd Thomas

For some reason I thought you guys had seen Wedding Singer, but yeah that's great too.

Andrew

I’m so happy that you loved this movie! I think it is criminally underrated! I was excited to see you were doing it and I feel validated to see your reactions.

Redrum Ritual

I can't sleep so I'm watching this watch along. One of my favorite Adam Sandler movies. I have cousins who used to live in California. They used to live next door to a family who's uncle was an extra in 50 First Dates. He's the guy that says "ok, I'll have pancakes." Also there's a guy on my aunt's Samoan side of the family, he was an extra in The Longest Yard. You was in the football practice on the prison yard in the mud scene. He had a bigger scene at the end of the movie when they're playing a football game against the guards. He's standing next to Burt Reynolds with branded pony tails. No speaking role.

AJ Lynch

you all forgot Jack Black as being outrageous energetic

Amar

Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore chemistry is unmatched in this film. Might be one of the best on screen chemistry's in movie history!

AJ Lynch

you need to watch The Wedding Singer!!!

Raven Dark

Gosh, I love this movie so much. I got so excited when I saw this was coming, because I knew you two would love it. What a great reaction. In the scene where Henry is leaving on his boat near the end, he figured out Lucy was remembering him because of what her dad said. When he gave him the gifts and saw him off, he said something like, "She's even singing again." Earlier in the movie, he said, "She only sings on the days when she sees you." He realized if she was singing on days when she wasn't seeing him, and it was the same song, it means she's remembering him on some level. Earlier in the movie, they discussed the possibility that she might one day start retaining memories, but the doctor and her family didn't believe it was possible, so I feel like the dad didn't but the "singing again" together with remembering Henry because he was convinced it was just a coincidence. It was easier for him to believe that's what it was than to keep hoping for the impossible. Normally, I don't care for Adam Sandler, because he just annoys me, but I love him in this movie. For me, this movie falls under the category of one of those things that shouldn't work but it absolutely does. The types of humor used in this movie don't seem like they'd blend well with such an otherwise heavy plotline, but they really pulled it off. This must have been a super challenging script to get right, but they did it.

REDR58

George, I know you have mentioned the movie poster / actors names not necessarily matching the actual person thing before and I assume it’s been answered, but if not, the name order of the actors is arranged that way following billing order. Of course the next obvious question is why not simply arrange the likenesses of the different people to match that order on the billing order, but I suppose aesthetically/artistically there is more leeway for that? For the 1974 movie “The Towering Inferno” (which you guys should check out), actors Steven McQueen and Paul Newman were 2 of the biggest movie stars of the time and both wanted top billing on the movie poster. To “solve” this problem, McQueen was listed first, on the left, but Newman was listed slightly higher above the line where McQueen’s name was. So they both have top billing: https://www.greig.cc/why-names-rarely-match-up-with-faces-on-movie-posters/ The arrangement for those two actors names both being first also extended to the movie’s opening credits where McQueen’s name was again on the left, or “first” and Newman’s name was again slightly higher above the line.

Every morning, Lucy's dreams come true. God, this is such a guilty pleasure movie of mine but it's a 50/50 shot with reactors...because, you're right! It would be VERY easy for their relationship to be extremely problematic (...and reactors can be very quick to judge but slow to budge...) but Lucy's support system can be trusted not to let that happen! She might not remember the events of the day, but (and this 100% may NOT be true of actual sufferers of this type syndrome, but it is true for the character of Lucy) she remembers emotions. I like to think that she started dreaming of Henry when she fell in love with him...and singing almost every single day because he was in her dreams. They just didn't notice because they'd come to see him every day anyway. But when she "erased" him, she kept singing and kept dreaming. Marlon already knew Lucy still loved Henry and was passing the subtle message to Henry to give him a choice...and he made it, lol! Thanks for the lovely morning, you two!

Grandalf

I did remember what a great movie this was, what I somehow forgot, was how great the soundtrack was. I am a sucker for covers though.

David Zabel

Funny you should call Sandler a gigolo in this movie because Rob Schneider plays the lead in the movie Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo. That's pretty funny too.

GBmain

I think I cried almost as much as Simone I forgot how sweet this movie is, Drew Barrymore is great. Definitely watch The Wedding Singer asap... It's one of his best.

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

The wedding singer and this one has the best chemistry between them, I wish the third one would have been as good as this ones...also I was waiting for their reactions to Sean Astin

Fanchman

I've seen this movie so many times and never quite understood why Henry suddenly had an epiphany on his boat that she remembered him. I think I finally caught it today. When Lucy's father was talking about her moving to the institute, he mentioned that she was teaching art classes and painting again. He also mentioned she was starting to sing again. That could be what they're referring to when Henry wonders if she can remember him.

droodly

This was great. I think this is the first time I noticed that the memory institute is funded by T.B. Callahan of Sandusky Ohio. The auto-parts tycoon. Fun little easter egg.

Dustin Duvall

Canadian netflix if you need to find a copy :)

Tay Schumaker

She sings the song that he was listening to on the cd her dad got him. The song made him remember that he said she only sings on days she met him. And he heard her sing that song

Tay Schumaker

As others have said, The Wedding Singer is the best of their 3

Rhiannon

Yep, it's the "She's even singing again." I think they missed that line - it's easy to miss, sort of said as a throwaway line almost, but it's an important piece of the puzzle in order to understand why he thinks Marlin is trying to tell him something.

Rhiannon

What a great reaction! I love this movie. And your comment about how they probably just wrote this movie in order to go hang out in Hawaii is actually kind of right hahahah Sandler has said basically that. It wasn't written specifically for it, but they decided to make the location Hawaii, because - why not??

Rhiannon

Also, Rob Schneider (along with Allen Covert, Peter Dante and Jonathan Loughran) are in basically all Sandler movies from this era. So yeah, it basically was just like he invited his buddies along to do this movie in Hawaii with him.

Thexx

I was working at a drive-in movie theater when this first came out. I can't count how many times I've seen it. You'd think I'd be sick of it by now. I'm not. And I doubt I'll ever be. It's been well over 10 years though so I'm looking forward to this. Cheers.

djKENTO

Adam Sandler is the most viewed actor and highest earning on netflix because he’x exclusive to them. Even Uncut Gems was netflix exclusive for a minute. Basically every film he’s made for the past decade was straight to netflix.

djKENTO

SPAM is everywhere in Hawaii. It’s as common as the movie is making it out to be. Seriously. You can even get it at Mcdonald’s.

Farbod

Just wanted to say that I adore you guys and I hope you are enjoying your holidays.

Pearl Jam

The Wedding Singer & Blended are the other two Sandler/Barrymore movies. All worth the watch.

REDR58

Nice movie but I have a bit of a problem with the ending when we see they have a child because aside from the *hugely problematic* issue of how exactly she consents to get pregnant and have a child in the first place (what if one random day she decides she doesn’t want a child and decides to end the pregnancy or potentially wants to end it and then cannot?), how or why can someone to choose to have a child whose mother will always forget her is beyond me. Rob Schneider generally is better kess seen in anything. Like not at all. SPAM is a huge part of Hawaiian food culture as it was during WW2 when it was introduced to US military personnel who were in Hawaii: “The true root of the island's love for SPAM® products goes back to World War II, when the luncheon meat was served to GIs. By the end of the war, SPAM® products were adopted into local culture, with Fried SPAM® Classic and rice becoming a popular meal.” https://www.foodandwine.com/meat-poultry/spam-hawaii-identity-kiki-aranita

droodly

Pretty sure that's why they established she started keeping her own journal once she knew what was happening. So there was a reference to her own thoughts and choices she could consult along the way.

RLYtoxic

I hope they get around to Grandma's Boy at some point.

Steve kephart

You guys definitely have to do Wedding Singer. If Blended is the third one, then it would probably be best if Simone watched it on her own off-channel. While I enjoyed it, it wasn't near as good as the other two and therefore probably woudn't do as wll on the channel.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Wedding Singer is one of my favorite Sandler movies, that'll be a fun watch. Okay so I've heard of people having similar memory disorders and it sounds rough, but there's another story I heard Mr. Ballen on YouTube tell that's about memory, very different but somehow even stranger and maybe even sadder. He tells it better so just look up the red lamp story, but if you don't feel like that I'll try to tell it: So this guy Mitch is a senior in college and has a huge crush on another senior named Kayla who he eventually works up the courage to ask out, they hit it off and eventually get married. They both end up working their dream jobs and buy a house, withing a few years they have a daughter and then a son. They're living the dream, dinners with the family, game nights on the weekend, an adorable family. One day Mitch is home alone watching TV (football) when out of the corner of his eyes there's this basic red lamp that he's well familiar with, but for some reason it's blurry and he can't focus on it, nothing else is, just the red lamp. He starts to worry, why can't he focus on it, but he chooses to ignore it. This continues for days, nothing else is blurry except that red lamp. He starts to obsess about it but he chooses not to tell Kayla or anyone. Then the lamp starts to change, at first it's suddenly upside down, then it starts to grow massive in size until Kayla comes home and finds Mitch staring at the lamp but unresponsive to her, so she calls the doctor. Meanwhile Mitch is noticing that he now has a splitting headache and his ears are ringing. He becomes very confused, then all of a sudden he finds himself looking up at a large group of people looking down at him concerned, and he realizes he's on his back but he doesn't know where he is. He gets up and as he's looking around confused and calling for Kayla, a police officer rushes to him and picks him up, takes him to his cruiser and speeds off, explaining to Mitch that he's taking him to the hospital as Mitch keeps asking for his wife and kids. At the hospital he's treated and there it's explained to him that he was tackled by a football player and struck his head on the pavement at a collge football game, and that he briefly, a few seconds, lost consciousness. Mitch is still in college, during that ten or so seconds of unconsciousness his mind constructed an entire life, his wife and children are not real despite his clear memory of them. Years have passed, Mitch has been in therapy for all this time still mourning for the family he never really had, apparently it ruined him and he's still not recovered. How fucked up is that?

Please please add Ever After (1998) Drew Barrymore is amazing in it, and The Producers (2005 version) to your watchlist! I really think you guys would enjoy it. ❤️

jmundt33a

Ever After is pretty much a flawless Cinderella movie absent one glaring omission. One of my all-time favorites.

jmundt33a

They haven’t watched Wedding Singer yet?

Juley

That was the first time I cried watching this movie but I really enjoyed experiencing it through your eyes!

REDR58

Yeah I get that but it still doesn’t solve the issue that she can change her mind from day to day despite what she wrote in the past. The more I think about the whole concept the worse it looks.

Amelie W

I think Memento already told us how to manage Lucy's condition. She'd have a lot easier time than Leonard in that movie who somehow had to train himself. Her family can be there every time she wakes up to explain what's going on and try to steer her away from worrying about what time she's missed, and then the important part, training to let her take care of herself. It's possible to build routines into your muscle memory, like Leonard's method of checking his pockets for notes and as Lucy seems to do by the end by building some association between the action of singing and thinking of Adam Sandler. She can, at the most basic, leave extensive notes at the side of the bed for herself to check when she wakes up. Then it's a question of how much time you're going to devote to review your diary every morning, if over the years that gets up to like an hour maybe you're going to work on condensing, and then you have to deal with the existential dread of purposely erasing parts of your past in order to have time to live in the now. But that's how she can have a future beyond Dad and Doug's ability to recreate the one day over and over to put off all the discomfort.

Rupert Purcat

Surprisingly great movie - a regular for me, I voted for it to see your reaction to your beloved Samwise. Cheers

ScottishSammo

Is it just me or does Nick the chef have a Weyland-Yutani shirt on the first time we see him, on his back 🤔

BlindPanda

Watch the Wedding Singer!!!

Kat M.

Ur Patreon is not allowing me to watch film. It's telling me to sign but I'm already signed into Patreon

Cinebinge

Hi Kat. This can sometimes happen when a new month rolls over with billing. Seems to be a constant Patreon platform bug. Best solution so far is to log out, close browser, and log back in. you can also try another browser or device. We also recommend that you send Patreon support a ticket letting them know this bug is occurring, hopefully with enough complaints they will get around to fixing it.

Wrench_In_The_Works

OK!!! I loved the SNL side note! I would buy tickets to a reaction of Adam Sandlers album ‘They’re All Gonna Laugh at You’ I know this reaction channel is for movies and I’m loving it, but if you ever had the opportunity to do a Patreon reaction of this album or a selection of songs from this album you would be dying ! It has lunch Lady land, the longest pee, the severe beating of a high school janitor, the severe beating of a high school, science teacher, the severe beating of a school bus driver, Buddy, the buffoon and the dean of admissions and so many more. They are hilarious storyteller songs, but they are fantastic and seeing you guys laugh at this would be amazing.

Juley

The movie obviously simplifies it, but anterograde amnesia (inability to make new memories) is a real thing. It’s rarely as extreme as this, but can happen with brain damage. Accidents, strokes, dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc. It’s also common to temporarily have anterograde amnesia with use of anesthesia or other drugs. There are different types of memories - basically memories of details (facts like what you ate for dinner last night) and procedural memory (how to do things like drive or tie your shoes). With anterograde amnesia, the person can’t make new memories of details, but they can still learn how to do things. This lets them use repetition and train themselves to follow certain behavioral procedures (wake up, grab and read diary, go eat breakfast with family, etc.). Of course, I’m simplifying this. But it’s easy to see how this can inspire movies like 50 First Dates and Memento. They start with the basics. And what they may lack in accuracy allows it to provide great entertainment and spur imagination.

Jesse Coombs

I would love for them to watch the original Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel version of the Producers before they watch the later one. It's my favorite Mel Brooks movie.

Brad Lowry

Side of the Name and Side of the Image are all worked out by Agents and Executives... it's not a mistake, as I've been told, "top billing" is what this is about, and when two stars (like here) are both of a similar box-office stature, they "share" Top Billing by being Left-Right in one sense then Right-Left in another seonse... or Top-Bottom then Bottom-top... yada, yada, yada. Other than stars entrusting lawyers and agents to promote their client in the very best light it is very rarely something the stars care about personally. So, you, George are Perfectly within your rights to think that this is Stupid, but it is NOT a Random Error. 🤓

Brad Lowry

Also George, you did it again, you kinda "dished" on Nicolas Cage again... NOT undeservedly!... but I want to remind you that Nicolas Cage seems to go "Hot & Cold" choosing Projects. Yes, he's done "National Treasure" and "Con-Air" and... But he's also won an Oscar for "Leaving Los Vegas", did magnificent work in one of my "undiscovered faves", "Matchstick Men", with (then not so famous) Sam Rockwell, and played the lead in "Adaptation" where he plays [¡SPOILER ALERT!] along with Meryl Streep and Chris Cooper. "Adaptation" is also my favorite of all Charlie Kaufman scripted films I've seen! (The only Charlie Kaufman scripted film that I know you've seen is "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".) Remember what Jeff Daniels told David Letterman (I think it was), when David asked Jeff Daniels why such an acclaimed actor that he was, had such a lousy role in "Speed". Jeff responded immediately, "Because I needed the Money!" (and then he extrapolated)... admittedly, Nicolas Cage's project do run particularly "Hot & Cold" however... So give the above films a whirl, or even better have a Poll of "Nicholas Cage isn't THAT BAD" with recommendations above and others'!
